[3.5 Rating] Visited a restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from Ginza Station. I went there for lunch. About 80% of the seats were occupied by customers of all ages and genders. The interior had a counter and some tables for two. Music was playing in the background. The first floor was for shopping, and the second floor was for dining in. I ordered the Gin-Dara (Silver Cod) Kyoto Kasuzuke set meal for 1,705 yen (tax included). Positive points: The service was polite. The miso soup contained Nameko mushrooms and tofu, with a well-balanced and not too strong dashi flavor. The side dishes included scallop adductor, edamame, pickled radish, kazunoko, hijiki and carrot salad, and pickles. Each side dish complemented the rice well. The rice was shiny, fluffy, and slightly soft. The Silver Cod was naturally fatty, and the Kasuzuke seasoning was particularly flavorful. It was rich without being overpowering. Negative points: Some of the side dishes were a bit too strong in flavor, although they went well with the rice. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Thank you for the meal.

I had lunch in Ginza and visited this place after a long time. I didn't notice last time, but it seems that the special set meals of Hon-Sawara sake lees white miso set meal and Marinated Flounder in Miso have been discontinued, and the Hon-Sawara sake lees white miso set meal has become a regular menu item. I ordered that for 1,375 yen. I believe the previous special set meals were priced at just under 1,000 yen, so they must have been quite a generous offer. The dish arrived soon after. The perfectly grilled sawara was not very fatty but was tender and flavorful, with the miso seasoning adding just the right amount of saltiness that made it very enjoyable with rice. This skillful grilling of the sake lees or miso-marinated fish, which can be difficult to get right, shows great cost performance. I also learned that for an additional 550 yen, you can upgrade any fish available in the first-floor shop to be included in the set meal, so I would like to consider that for my next visit. Lunch: Ajimise Set Meal ¥1,980 (tax included) Established in 1914, "Uokyu" is a traditional Kyoto kasuzuke (fish marinated in sake lees) restaurant. After trying their famous "ajimise" at the Ningyocho main store, I visited their Higashi Ginza branch. The first floor is a kasuzuke shop, while the second floor is an eat-in space called "ajimise." I arrived around 1:00 PM and the place was almost full. Customers kept coming in, and a line quickly formed. The interior has counter seats and tables. I ordered their signature dish, the "ajimise set meal." It arrived in about 5-6 minutes, featuring a trio of kasuzuke: gindara (sablefish), salmon, and sawara (Spanish mackerel). The flavors of the kasuzuke were rich and the rice was delicious. Each piece was tasty and satisfying. Personally, I think gindara and sawara pair particularly well with kasuzuke. The set includes two side dishes, free rice refills, and tasty miso soup. If you're looking for a proper grilled fish set meal in the Ginza area, this is a must-visit restaurant.

In August 2023, I came to Higashi-Ginza to watch a summer kabuki performance. Before that, I tried to eat at several restaurants I had picked in advance, but both the omurice place and the udon shop had long lines. So, I decided to go to "Uokyu". The second-floor dining area was full, but there was only one person waiting, so I waited in the cool air-conditioned interior. The restaurant had 8-person tables, 4-person tables, and a counter with seating for 6. After a while, I was seated at the counter by the window. I ordered the Gin-dara Kyoto Kasuzuke set meal and a bottle of Asahi Super Dry beer. First, the beer and pickled ginger were served, so I started sipping on the beer. After a while, the Gin-dara Kyoto Kasuzuke set meal was brought to me. It included: - Gin-dara (silver cod) with ginger and grated daikon - Side dish: komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) and fried tofu - Side dish: burdock root and kelp - Rice - Red miso soup - Pickled radish with sake lees The fluffy sweetness and aroma of sake lees complemented the deliciously plump silver cod. It was a delightful meal. Thank you.

I was curious about the taste of Kyoto kasuzuke, so I decided to visit the shop. The main store is located in Ningyocho and is open in the evenings as well. They also sell their products in department stores. I took a day off on a weekday to visit. I went on a Thursday around 11:15 am. The shop was almost full, with over 90% of the customers being women. There were only 2 male customers dining alone. I sat at the counter and ordered the "Ajimise Teishoku" for 1,980 yen, which included a selection of three types of fish (silver cod, salmon, and genuine sawara). The food arrived in about 10 minutes. Each fish was served as a half portion. The portion size was decent. The rice was from Uonuma, Niigata. You could have unlimited refills of rice. The meal also came with three side dishes. The silver cod, a specialty of the shop, was the most delicious with its rich flavor. The salmon and genuine sawara were also tasty. The salmon had a good amount of fat, although not as much as the silver cod. The genuine sawara, however, did not have as much fat as expected. I was impressed by how flavorful the fish became through the kasuzuke process. I don't usually have fish set meals when dining out, so this was a refreshing experience for me. It was a great meal.

My parents really liked the pickled rice bran here and used to eat it often, but it was my first time at the shop. It was delicious, but I wish the portion was a bit bigger. Maybe I should have asked for more rice. Also, the inside of the shop was very cold because the air conditioning was too strong.

I was wandering around looking for a place to have lunch when I passed by here. I felt like eating fish, so I decided to give it a try. The first floor is a shop where you can buy kasuzuke (fish marinated in sake lees), and the second floor is a restaurant serving set meals. It was a bit crowded during lunchtime. I had to wait for a bit, but I was eventually seated by the window. There were many solo female diners, and the gender ratio seemed to be about equal. It's a comfortable place for dining alone. I saw "When you think of Uokyu, you think of gindara (sablefish)" written on the menu, so I ordered the Gindara Kyoto Kasuzuke set meal for ¥1705. I love Kyoto-style grilled fish more than meat, so I was excited. The dish was served in about 5 minutes, and there was a red side dish... I wondered if it was squid mentaiko or something else. When I tried it, it was sour! It was umeboshi (pickled plum)! I have oral allergy syndrome, and umeboshi is one of the triggers. I had to quickly spit it out. It was completely my fault for not being cautious with red foods... I drank a lot of tea to try to avoid any reactions and took emergency medication. My apologies for the commotion. Putting that aside, the Kyoto-style grilled fish was tender and delicious, with a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. You can get free rice refills, but I would have definitely had seconds if I were at home. I finished it in no time and was completely satisfied. The "Ajimise set meal" for ¥1980 includes gindara, sake (salmon), and sawara (Spanish mackerel) all in one delicious Kyoto-style grilled fish dish. I would like to try this next time!

A high-end Kasuzuke (fermented in sake lees) specialty store in Ginza. You can enjoy a set meal on the second floor. There was a short wait for lunchtime visit. The restaurant also has a counter. The Kasuzuke set meal options included silver cod, salmon, and mackerel. I ordered the Ajimise set meal for 1980 yen, which included a selection of three types of fish. The silver cod from Alaska had a good texture and was very delicious. The King salmon was also excellent, with a flavorful taste that went well with the fish. This might have been my favorite. The mackerel didn't have the best texture, but the taste was outstanding. Unlike the other two dishes which were Kyoto Kasuzuke, the mackerel was marinated in sake lees and white miso. Its mild flavor complemented the fish well. All the fish were very tasty. The spinach with sesame dressing was not too sweet and very delicious. The side dish, similar to plum dressing, was also good. The miso soup with melon was very tasty. The rice was from Uonuma Koshihikari and was delicious, with the option for seconds. The pickles were also well-prepared. Overall, it was a satisfying set meal. It was a great lunch.

This is seriously delicious. The kasuzuke (fish marinated in sake lees) is amazing. When it comes to choosing a place for lunch in Ginza, I always struggle, but this might be the best option. The combination of fish and rice is the best. The pickles and miso soup also have the perfect balance of flavors. I ended up getting a second helping of rice.

I used it for lunch. I had the "Ajimise Teishoku", which is a set meal with three kinds of fish: silver cod, sake, and sawara. At 1980 yen, it's a bit on the pricey side for lunch, but the portion of fish is quite generous and satisfying. The red miso soup has a comforting taste, and the side dishes are elegantly flavored. Most importantly, the fish has a strong sweetness and rich flavor, incredibly delicious. Truly the taste of a fish market. At first glance, it doesn't look like they serve lunch, but about 80% of the seats were filled on the second floor.

I went to Uokyu, a shop famous for its Koji pickled fish. The first floor is a souvenir shop and the second floor is a dining area. I tried the Ajimise set meal (1980 yen), which includes three types of fish: silver cod, salmon, and sawara. It's a great deal because the silver cod set meal alone costs 1705 yen. The fish marinated in Koji pickles pairs perfectly with white rice. The silver cod is especially delicious, with a perfect balance of sweetness, spiciness, fat, and aroma that spreads gently in your mouth.

Thank you for reading this article. Your likes and comments are encouraging. I will continue to update a lot, so I would be grateful if you could save or follow. It seems that the price of sake set meals with unlimited rice will increase from April. Thank you for the meal.

I love washoku♡ Fish with rice and miso soup, along with pickles, are the best (≧∀≦) So, before work in the afternoon, I visited "Kyokasuzuke Uokyu" to try various Kyoto kasuzuke dishes. I wanted to try them even if it meant splurging ◆ Ajimise set meal 1870 yen * A platter of three types of fish: silver cod, salmon, and sawara It seems like there are a lot of inbound customers... English menus are standard here! The fish, marinated in sake lees with a less sweet taste than saikyo-zuke, are all delicious with richness and depth of flavor (๑>◡<๑) Umami! The sawara is packed with sake lees all the way to the core! Even though it's less sweet, the sweetness of the silver cod is irresistible! And the salmon~ What is this deliciousness! It's amazing (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) All the fish, including the skin, are crispy and fragrant, with a rich taste of fat. The marinated shellfish with mayonnaise and simmered hijiki have a gentle flavor. The miso soup has a strong broth~ (≧∀≦) The pickles are refreshing and not marinated in lees, but a light pickled dish. It's delicious♪ If I have the chance to come again, I would go for the salmon Kyoto kasuzuke set meal~ It was too delicious◎

It's been a while since I visited Fish Hisago. When I went upstairs, the restaurant was empty. It was just before 1 pm, but it seems like this is the recent trend. I ordered the Salmon Kyoto Kasuzuke Set for 1265 yen. The price seems to have remained the same, which is quite a good deal considering that many restaurants have been raising their prices. The salmon had a rich flavor with a hint of sweetness, which was very delicious. It may be a bit crude, but compared to the prices at the first floor store, the perfectly cooked salmon served on the second floor is quite valuable. The kasuzuke and misozuke were so tasty that I almost wanted to get seconds, but I managed to resist and finished my meal. It was really delicious.

Today's second meal was a quick emergency situation, so I hurried over to "Kyokasuzuke Uokyu" for a visit. The first floor is for takeout, while the second floor is for dining in. I was seated at the counter and ordered the following: - Grilled silver cod set meal for 1595 yen including tax. The thick silver cod was grilled perfectly, with juicy and flavorful meat. It was delicious even without the grated radish. The fish is washed before grilling, so you might question if it's really marinated in sake lees, but the flavor comes through nicely. The rice, made with Koshihikari rice from Uonuma, was perfectly cooked. You could eat endless amounts of rice with the silver cod. The side dish of spicy burdock was also delicious. The restaurant caters to an older crowd, as grilled fish is a popular choice for older diners. Thanks for the meal!

This is a restaurant that serves pickled fish and offers takeout options. It is located a little over a 5-minute walk from Matsuya Ginza. I visited around 1 pm on a weekday and saw a mix of shoppers and office workers. The seating is limited, so it's best to visit with minimal luggage. The food is the highlight here! The combinations with rice are amazing. I tried the pickled cod set meal this time, and the cod was tender and delicious. Just the right amount of food. Thank you for the meal.

Started the new year with a lunch of Kasuzuke✨ The components found in sake lees help to improve the body and even have a beautifying effect. I recommend ordering the Gin-Dara Kyoto Kasuzuke set meal♪ The thick and tender Gin-Dara, marinated in sake lees, has a luxurious taste without any fishy odor and a pleasant aroma. As a cute New Year's gift, when opened, it revealed a Daikichi (great luck) fortune! This is a good sign for prosperity in the coming spring...talk about good fortune indeed! I visited around 11:30 am. I went upstairs and requested a counter seat, but was asked to wait for a while. I ordered the Grilled Silver Cod with Kyoto Kasuzuke set for 1,595 yen. This set includes rice, miso soup, pickles, and two small dishes, all for the price of 1,000 yen or more per slice at the first floor shop. The grilled fish, prepared according to the recommended method of washing off the kasuzuke paste and then grilling over low heat, was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

It's lunchtime at a restaurant I visited while out. The restaurant is located one street in from the Ginza side after exiting the A7 exit of the Toei Asakusa Line Higashi-Ginza Station. I arrived around 12:50 on a weekday and was able to get in without waiting. While I was eating, there was a constant line of people waiting, so it seems like I arrived at just the right time. I ordered the "Gindara Kyoto Kasuzuke Teishoku" (1595 yen). I debated between salmon and gindara, but the gindara here seemed to have a divine presence. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to be served, but the smell wafting around as dishes were brought to other tables was delightful. The gindara was rich in flavor yet not overly fatty, which I attribute to the quality of the ingredients. The gindara, marinated thoroughly, was so delicious that I almost had trouble stopping myself from eating too much rice. You can get seconds, but I've been gaining weight recently, so I sadly refrained. I used to visit the main store in Ningyocho occasionally due to its proximity to my workplace, buying kasuzuke to take home, so I was excited to discover there's a branch in Ginza now. The eat-in space, like the one in Ningyocho, is simple and cost-effective, which I appreciate. The prices are on the higher side, but considering the quality of the "Uo-kyu kasuzuke," it still feels like a good deal to me.

Fishy old-fashioned fish shop Fishkyu sales office on the second floor with an attached dining area. The age group is on the older side, with many solo diners. The restaurant has mostly 4-person tables and a large communal table and counter, so it may be difficult for large groups to visit. During lunchtime, it tends to get crowded with a line of people waiting. The lunch menu is limited to a few items, and since they cook the food after you order, it can take around 15 minutes for your food to be ready when it's busy, so it may not be recommended for people in a hurry. The popular Aji Mise set meal includes a three-point serving of salmon, cod, and Spanish mackerel for 1870 yen, which is a bit on the expensive side. You can get a refill of rice, but considering the price, the portion of fish in the set meal is not that large, so it seems like a good option for when you want to eat something light.
