Marumatsu in Higashi-Nakano is a must-visit spot! I've been there a few times, and when I visited after a long time, they suddenly said, "Long time no see!" which made me happy ☺️ The recommended dish here is definitely the tsukune!! The unique and delicious tsukune with a mix of black pepper and cartilage is irresistible and addictive! Of course, besides the tsukune, other dishes like seseri are also delicious! Marumatsu is always packed, so it depends on the timing if there are seats available, but the taste and atmosphere of the restaurant are top-notch! Thank you for the meal.

I visited the popular motsuyaki restaurant Marumatsu in Higashi-Nakano for the first time! Started with a draft beer, served in a generous-sized glass which was very impressive. The thousand-layered beef sashimi was delicious, almost at the level of a yakiniku restaurant. The yakitori here is top-notch, but it's a bit disappointing that all the items are served at once. There is a difference in quality among the yakitori items. I particularly enjoyed the harami (skirt steak) and tsukune (chicken meatballs). The mini curry with plenty of motsu (offal) was exquisite. Overall, it was a pretty good restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

The third stop from Mahori was at Akimoto-ya in Higashi-Nakano! This restaurant was chosen because the main character of the day, a handsome gentleman, had never been to Akimoto-ya before. We sat at the only reserved table, and enjoyed: - Chicken liver skewers, a favorite of Chee that you can't find at a regular yakitori place. It was delicious when eaten with alternating pieces of fat. - Tsukune (chicken meatballs) with green peppers, a combination loved by even the little people at Alan-chan's house. Chee first tried this dish here, so it holds a special place in their heart. - Jagakare (curry on top of potatoes), a unique dish where curry is poured over potatoes. The combination worked surprisingly well. - Boiled beef tendon with yuzu pepper, which was incredibly delicious. - Myoga (Japanese ginger) and cucumber salad, refreshing and perfect for summer. We also tried other skewers ordered by the group, and everything was delicious. I had a Vise Sour drink, and left a bit early as I had to make dinner. It was a fun night of bar hopping, thanks for the great meal!

The most touching thing was Yudetan, but everything was really delicious... I made a reservation from Kichijoji to Higashi-Nakano and it was here ( ゚∀゚)つ◆Motsuyaki Marumatsu. It's within walking distance if you try hard, and you can also get there by subway without taking too long, but it was my first time at Marumatsu on this day. I had wandered around this area a little while ago (I had a few drinks at Hanbeya) and when I peeked in to see if it was empty, there was a line so I didn't want to wait and went back at that time. This place is affiliated with Nogata Akimotoya, but I thought the food was more delicious than Akimotoya. What I chose was luckily a good choice. What I ate: Yudetan, Tsukune with green pepper, Oshinko (pickles), Jagakare (potato curry), assorted skewers. Next time, I'll come alone and have Yudetan all to myself haha. Saying goodbye to Chee-hime here (/_;)/~~

No matter what you order, it's delicious! It's small, but it fills up quickly from opening time. The grilled dishes are recommended, as well as the curry at the end of the meal, which is not shown in the photos. The pickled ginger and cucumber, boiled tongue, and meat-wrapped tomatoes are easy to eat. (My favorites) It's reasonably priced. It's best not to linger. Reservations are available for groups of 3 or more. I keep coming back from Omiya!

I moved from Nakai to the famous restaurant Marumatsu in Higashi-Nakano. It's always full and you need a reservation, but luckily we were able to get a table for three. I've been here a few times, but this is my first review. I had a green tea highball and enjoyed the grilled offal, fat, intestines, and curry. Everything I tried was delicious. If you're looking to drink in Higashi-Nakano, this is the place to go. After that, we went to the famous Chinese restaurant Jyuban for dumplings and beer, and then to the long-standing snack bar Rizu for whiskey highballs and karaoke. We ended up collapsing on the street, a rare occurrence for me.

I entered as soon as the store opened at 15:00. There were only two seats left, so it was just in time. The simmered dishes had a salty taste with no unpleasant smell. I tried the liver and white liver, both were fresh and smooth, melting in my mouth. I have found the best motsu-yaki here.

Visited on July 14, 2023 (Friday) after work, after a relaxing time at the excellent sauna of "Aqua Higashi-Nakano". Luckily, I managed to slide into an available counter seat and started with a bottle of beer. The pickled cucumber that the person next to me was eating looked delicious, so I ordered that along with tongue and chicken with garlic skewers, and waited for a while. There were many regular customers, and the atmosphere was surprisingly quiet in the counter-centered interior, allowing me to relax and watch TV while waiting. Starting with the tongue, I enjoyed the chewy texture and slightly strong saltiness. The size was easy to eat, and the saltiness and grilling were just right, making it a good start. After enjoying the tongue and chicken with garlic skewers, I ordered a lemon sour, raw minced chicken with green pepper, and chire (if I remember correctly). With the casual atmosphere and the liberating feeling of a Friday night before a long weekend, I felt comfortable and enjoyed the subsequent skewers. When I left, there were 5-6 people waiting in line. I was lucky to be able to enter quickly, and I enjoyed my meal quickly in about 30-40 minutes. All the skewers were consistently delicious, and I could see why it's so popular. Thank you for the meal!

On this day, I decided to go to a cozy bar called "Kurikara" with the historian Mr. Numata to enjoy delicious grilled eel skewers. Since we were already in Higashi-Nakano, we also decided to visit another great restaurant called "Motsuyaki Marumatsu" where we could enjoy tasty grilled pork. The location of the restaurant is just a minute away from Higashi-Nakano Station on the JR Sobu Line and Toei Oedo Line. We arrived at 3:35 PM on this day. The restaurant was established in March 2017. It is an independent establishment from the famous motsuyaki restaurant "Akimoto-ya". Despite its popularity, we managed to get a table without a reservation. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very casual and welcoming. It was quite crowded on this Saturday evening. The seating consists of 13 counter seats and 4 table seats. It's not spacious but not cramped either. Here are the dishes we tried: - "Hoppy Set (Black) 500 yen" - "Simmered dish (530 yen)" made with pork head meat, tofu, and daikon in a savory broth. - "Shiro (1 skewer 150 yen)" grilled pork intestines with a crispy exterior. - "Tan (1 skewer 150 yen)" grilled pork tongue seasoned with salt. - "Grilled miso konjac (2 skewers 150 yen)" konjac grilled with a special miso sauce. - "Naka (shochu) 320 yen" - "Reba (1 skewer 150 yen)" rare grilled liver with a sweet taste. - "Cabbage miso (150 yen)" a refreshing cabbage dish with miso dressing. - "Curry Harusame (430 yen)" curry-flavored glass noodles topped with soft pork head meat and cilantro. Overall, the food was delicious and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. If you're looking for a place to enjoy motsuyaki, this is definitely worth a visit! Check out my detailed review on my blog.

The other day, I visited a yakitori restaurant in Higashi-Nakano that I had been curious about for a long time! This place is a long-established and very popular restaurant, and I was always worried about whether I could get in because it's always full, but I just managed to get a seat! Everything I ate was delicious! I will definitely visit again!

I've been refraining from drinking alcohol while eating out, but I finally gave in haha. So, I decided to go to Marumatsu for some motsu-yaki. Luckily, there was one seat available so I didn't have to wait. You write your order on a paper provided. I ordered 5 skewers - harts, belly, liver, tail, and white meat, along with ponzu sauce and miso cucumber. The first skewer was the hart, cooked just enough on the surface and it was delicious! The belly with ponzu sauce was also quite good. I might have ordered too much at once, and before I knew it, I was feeling really full (;^ω^) The staff must have noticed because they spaced out the last 2 skewers, which was much appreciated. Also, it was nice that this type of restaurant is non-smoking. Overall, the skewers were decent, but the atmosphere was really cozy and I enjoyed my drinks there. Skewers (harts, belly, liver, tail, white meat) each 150 yen, total 750 yen. Ponzu sauce for belly 450 yen. Miso cucumber 330 yen. Large draft beer 820 yen x 2. Seating charge 110 yen.

I aimed to arrive at the store at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday when it opened, but when I arrived five minutes early, there was already a long line. Fortunately, a customer with children requested an outdoor terrace seat, so we were able to sit at the counter just in time. Although the restaurant is highly praised for being cheap in reviews, the prices, such as 630 yen for a medium-sized draft beer, did not seem that cheap to me. The skewers were indeed popular and made with good ingredients, cooked to perfection. The popular stewed tripe had a rich flavor and was delicious. Other dishes like tripe curry were also tasty, but the portions were on the smaller side, so if you eat a lot, be careful as the bill may end up higher than expected. Thank you for the meal.

I thought I went early, but it was very crowded. The person I shared a table with said it's actually not too bad here. It's clear that it's popular. The skewers were all delicious, whether in terms of how they were grilled or seasoned. Personally, I liked the chicken neck the best. The simmered dishes were also well-seasoned. The cloudy Miyano Yuki sake was delicious. It's a restaurant I'd like to visit again.

"I say it's a cat, but is a cat really going to wear geta sandals, carry a cane, and come in a tight yukata? Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness, 'it's a cat, it's a cat'." - Toshiyuki Tsuchitori Born in the Meiji era, "Onna Jimihen @ Shamisen Master" dedicated to my late grandmother - Matsuyaki (First post) "Just the other day, I greeted you with 'Happy New Year ☆ Kotoyoro ☆ Rock'n'Roll,' and it's already been a month... Time flies, but it's surprising. As I age, the acceleration of my own 'old age' continues to increase, and I laugh half-heartedly as I emerge from the Toei Oedo Line, Higashi-Nakano Station, and head towards Shinjuku on Yamanote Street to my destination. In early February, on this day, I drank with two dear reviewers. It's been a year and a half since we all drank together last time at Nakano's Tokura (reviewed). 15 minutes before opening at 3 p.m., there were two regular customers waiting in line in front of the store. This is what they call the 'Akimoto-ya series.' The main store in Nogata & Sakuradai (Akimoto-ya), and the 'series' include Ikebukuro (Hinata), Shinjuku Shonyoko (Nogataya), and Nishi-Waseda (Takadaya), as far as I know. I have been to Akimoto-ya. This time, the female reviewer who requested this place, Matsuyaki, made a reservation for us, so we were able to sit at a table next to the entrance covered with a vinyl sheet. Everything we had this time was just right, especially 'chire' and 'yudetan' left a strong impression on me (the curry was also good...). Since I use the Toei Oedo Line on a daily basis, it makes me think it's 'okay' to visit this place by getting off at Higashi-Nakano Station and heading here for that purpose. Well, considering the capacity and popularity of the store, it's not that easy... This is a popular motsunabe restaurant. We made a reservation and used the only table available. The motsunabe is delicious, but they are also known for their curry dishes made with motsu. They used to serve curry with a baguette, but now they have dishes like curry over vermicelli noodles or curry over grilled potatoes. The curry vermicelli comes with cilantro, giving it an ethnic touch that my companion really enjoyed. I think curry goes well with any ingredient, so I hope they continue to add more dishes that incorporate curry.

One day, as I was browsing through my usual food review site, I came across a photo posted by a reviewer that looked incredibly delicious. It was a dish called "Curry Harusame." It reminded me of a sake called "Curry Harusame" that I used to order when I started enjoying awamori. I suggested this restaurant to a reviewer whom I was planning to meet soon, and they agreed. We made a reservation for the only table available at this restaurant, and that day, three of us enjoyed some drinks. The Curry Harusame that I eagerly ordered was topped with cilantro and tasted just as I had expected. It may sound a bit underwhelming to say it was as expected, but it actually felt satisfying to have my desires fulfilled exactly as I had imagined. It made me realize how happy it is to have your expectations met.

A popular restaurant in Higashi-Nakano. I tried twice since my last visit but couldn't get in. If you go with the mindset that you probably won't get in, you won't be disappointed. Luckily, we were able to get in on a weekday night. As expected, the food was delicious, affordable, and amazing! I definitely want to go again.

At the end of the year, I planned to go to Marumatsu, but other commitments got in the way. However, I finally made it there after the new year. It's a bit tricky to get a table for two or more people, but going alone increases the chances. Today, I went alone and luckily found the last available seat at the back. I usually order a large bottle and sip on it, but today I felt like having shochu. For snacks, I went with the classic macasara and curry harusomen. As for grilled items, I got one beef tongue, two skirt steaks, one harami, and one sirloin. This combination never disappoints me. I was considering adding some spicy pork meatballs to the mix. Harami is a must-have, and skirt steak is recommended. I've tried skirt steak at other places, but it never tasted good until I tried it here. I finished off with homemade pickles and sake, featuring Dewazakura from Yamagata. It was made with Tsuruhime rice, known for its delicious flavor. Rice and pickles go perfectly together. No matter how many times I come here, the food is always delicious.

Nursery school dads' gathering. We all decided on this place based on everyone's opinions. It seems reservations are difficult, so entering together once everyone is there is a must. Everyone arrived on time and we were able to enter smoothly. The restaurant efficiently uses a small space without wasted areas. We ordered dishes like Kashira Hatsuleva and Aburashiro. The quality of the meat was immediately apparent - very high quality, tender, flavorful, and no unpleasant smell. They also had my favorite pig's feet, so I will definitely be coming back regularly in the future. Thank you for the delicious meal!
