I visited Saba no Sukesan in Shinzaki, Edogawa-ku, where you can enjoy authentic charcoal-grilled bento boxes. The chef grills the food over charcoal, giving it a delicious flavor. I've always wanted to try this bento box. I called about an hour in advance to make a reservation before visiting. I ordered the extra-large grilled mackerel bento box. The regular salt-grilled mackerel seems to be popular, but since I can't come here often, I decided to go with the grilled mackerel marinated in the special dipping sauce. The restaurant was already filled with smoke. The owner was grilling everything from fish to meat by himself. There were no buildings on either side, and if there were, I don't think this business could operate due to the smoke and smell. It was lunchtime, so many people seemed to be construction workers or truck drivers who had all pre-ordered their bento boxes. By the way, there is only one pickup window, and those who pre-ordered lined up on the left, while those who were ordering on the spot lined up on the right. I informed the staff at Tokyo Rocks that I was there to pick up my order and received my bento box right away. There is no eating space inside, so you have to either eat at a nearby park, in your car, or take it home. On this day, I took it home for dinner. The first thing that surprised me was that the portion of rice was already large even without ordering extra. And the side dishes that came with it were pickled daikon radish, dried radish strips, and rolled omelette. Also, grated daikon radish and soy sauce were included. Now, onto the main dish, the extra-large grilled mackerel was truly huge and had a unique taste from the dipping sauce. To be honest, I should have just gone with the regular salt-grilled mackerel. But the charcoal flavor was at a level that you can't experience at any other restaurant. Next time, I'll also order the regular salt-grilled mackerel and some meat dishes and eat them in a nearby park before they cool down. Thank you for the meal.

I had been curious about this bento shop for a while, so I visited it as it was nearby. I arrived at 11:30 and ordered a mackerel bento, which they said would be freshly cooked. I was prepared to wait, but to my surprise, they said it would be ready right away. It seems they pre-cook the popular menu items. I enjoyed my meal at a nearby park. It was delicious! The mackerel was fatty and I could eat it without worrying about small bones or the head. They also have meat bento options, so I would like to try those next time.

I missed the timing to eat lunch and went straight to my last job. It was right next to Sabasuke, so I decided to call ahead and pick up my order after work. However, the phone line was busy because they've been getting a lot of TV coverage lately. So, I decided to go to the restaurant directly. There was already a long line of people waiting. I had planned to get a mackerel bento, but they were sold out of meat dishes for the day, except for the hamburger which was still available. I decided to try the double hamburger bento, which came with one hamburger in the main box and an extra hamburger in a separate package. It came with two types of sauce, demi-glace and grated radish. I tried the demi-glace sauce first. The hamburger was juicy and full of meaty flavor. It was delicious, so I quickly finished it with some rice. Then, I tried the grated radish sauce. It was refreshing and complemented the meat juice well. I finished it in a few minutes. Everything I eat here is delicious.

This bento shop often appears on TV and social media. The reason for this is because they seem to be causing a fire every day (lol). They grill fish and meat over charcoal, and the smoke is so intense that it's likened to a fire. When I saw the video, I was immediately captivated by how delicious it looked. Their signature dish is the "Mackerel Bento," which is grilled over charcoal, and the fatty meat is so juicy and flavorful. I asked a friend who lives in Shinzaki about the taste, and he said it was delicious but not as hyped up as the media makes it seem. He said it was just "normally delicious." I couldn't believe it and went to try the "Mackerel Bento" myself. And you know what? It was just normally delicious.

The other day, it was mentioned on TV that phone reservations take over 40 minutes. So, I decided to go directly to the store instead of making a phone reservation. It was even busier than usual when I arrived. I ordered the salmon bento box I was looking for, but was told there was a 30-minute wait for that. However, they could serve the salmon bento box immediately if it was the large size. So, this time I ordered the large size salmon bento box. Although the salmon seemed small compared to the amount of rice, it was not a problem. The salmon was delicious, the skin was delicious, and the rice was also delicious. I am now torn between choosing salmon or mackerel in the future.

I tried making a phone reservation at Sakanosuke, a new saba (mackerel) restaurant. The beef at Ushibento is grilled over charcoal, giving it a sweet and smoky flavor that is different from BBQ. The brand dried fish at Bansuke is also grilled over strong charcoal heat, making it very delicious! It makes you want to drink beer. The skill of grilling it just before it burns is impressive, haha. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I bought a charcoal-grilled chicken teriyaki bento box from a bento shop that specializes in binchotan charcoal. It cost 780 yen including tax for takeout. There were many customers who made phone reservations, so there was a bit of a wait, but the charcoal-grilled flavor was truly delicious. The slightly charred parts were the best. The rice portion was quite large as usual. The main chicken dish was stacked in two layers, making it a very filling bento box.

Last time I cheated on mackerel with saury, but I'm back to mackerel now, this time trying the miso-marinated grilled version. It's really good. The sweetness of the miso seeps in gently, without being too salty. The grilling can be tricky as it tends to burn, but the way it was cooked was just right. The smoke billowing out from the shop looks like it could be mistaken for a fire alarm. People walking on the sidewalk pass through the smoke, and since it's like an entrance to a park, they probably don't get scolded for it, but it might be different in other places. They were grilling chicken and fish. I placed an order amidst the heavy smoke. There was a 45-minute wait, so I decided to have coffee near the station while waiting. It's recommended to make a reservation in advance, as the meat items can run out the day before. On this day when I went without a reservation, only fish was available. I had a mackerel miso-marinated bento and a salmon miso-marinated dish. The grilled mackerel had a slightly strong burnt taste, but it went well with the rice. The salmon miso-marinated dish was also delicious, making me want to have more rice. The rice was a bit soft. The bento came with kinpira and rolled omelet, and I was satisfied with the 700 yen meal. It's clear that the restaurant is thriving. I'll make a reservation for the meat next time and give it a try. Bon appétit!

I had to try a few times to make a purchase, but finally managed to do it. I called to make a reservation after 5 PM, and the pick-up was scheduled for 7:20 PM. There was smoke in front of the store and it smelled deliciously of grilled fish all around. I had reserved the large-size mackerel and whole grilled squid. I also added grilled pork miso and grilled cod roe in front of the store. The crispy aroma of the grilling increased my appetite. The large size of the dishes provided a satisfying meal. Even though the rice was packed solidly, I couldn't resist the delicious mackerel and ended up finishing it all. It was difficult to purchase, but I definitely want to eat it again. It's best to make a reservation by phone, so when I called, I was told that the meat dishes would take some time. So, I decided to skip the hamburger this time and ordered a salmon bento instead! I called around 4:30 pm and was able to pick it up at 5:30 pm. The hamburger was ready at 6:30 pm. The salmon bento for 700 yen looked delicious just by looking at it from the top. The area around the shop smelled of charcoal, but the bento also had a nice aroma. When you put grated radish on the salmon and eat it with rice, it's also super delicious! The salmon itself is delicious, and the rice is tasty too. I wonder if I should try the hamburger next time! Thank you for the meal!

There is a takeout restaurant in Shinzaki, Edogawa-ku, specializing in charcoal-grilled fish. The grated daikon radish served on the side was also sweet. The portion of rice was generous, but the kinpira gobou (burdock root) was also plentiful, so I enjoyed it. I have been thinking that it's been quite popular with all the smoke and long lines of cars, and then I saw it being covered on TV. I waited 90 minutes on a Saturday night just after 7pm. The grilled salmon with Saikyo miso bento and grilled tuna belly were both overcooked, surprisingly burnt, and the meat was dry. Saikyo miso grilled dishes are marinated in sweet Saikyo miso, so you have to be careful not to burn them. It's a shame because the fish fillets would have looked delicious if they were cooked properly. The rice wasn't tasty either. I wonder if the mackerel, which is in the name of the restaurant, would be delicious? I waited 90 minutes only to be disappointed with the dry, burnt fish they served. Why did I mention three items? Because the portions were large (laughs). I won't be visiting again. Thank you for the meal.
