Overview A sukiyaki specialty restaurant located a short walk from Asakusa Station on the Tokyo Metro. Situated near Hanayashiki, on Hisago Street, this establishment is a longstanding institution with over 100 years of history. While Asakusa is known for its many famous sukiyaki restaurants like Imahan, this particular spot stands out for its reasonable prices. Notes - The menu consists only of beef sukiyaki, with two grades to choose from: "Jou" and "Toku." I ordered the "Toku" grade for this visit. - The beef in the "Toku" grade boasts a rich marbling, cut to a moderate thickness that enhances the unique texture of sukiyaki. When folded and dipped in the sauce and egg, it creates a juicy, mille-feuille-like flavor. The quality of the meat is evident from the first bite, but it also has a strong richness from the fat, so those not fond of fatty meat may prefer the "Jou" grade. - The staff initially place the beef and vegetables in the pot, and then you take over the cooking process. While this requires some effort, it allows you to enjoy sukiyaki at your own pace, without feeling rushed. The vegetables and tofu, which absorb the rich flavor of the meat, are also incredibly delicious and pair well with the rice. - As rumored, the cost-performance ratio is excellent, even with additional orders, making it surprisingly affordable compared to other sukiyaki restaurants. While the service may not be as luxurious, the nostalgic atmosphere of the longstanding establishment, with entertaining touches like the drumming upon entry, makes it a worthwhile stop for tourists exploring Tokyo. When looking for dinner options in Asakusa, this restaurant is definitely worth considering. Stay Duration: Approximately 1 hour Cost: ¥14,760 for 2 people (Beef Sukiyaki "Toku" x2: ¥3,780 each, Additional Beef "Toku" x2: ¥3,150 each, Additional Egg x2: ¥130 each, Rice x2: ¥320 each)

I couldn't make a reservation for Saturday night, as it gets crowded around 7 pm. I went at 6 pm and got seated right away. This restaurant seemed like an old establishment. The menu was simple, with only sukiyaki as an option. We ordered the special for two people, and debated getting a refill, but ended up adding an extra serving of meat and vegetables for two people. The meat in the special felt tough afterwards. The vegetables were just right, but one serving of meat was enough. It was delicious. We had to frequently add water to the pot, as the staff would scold us if we didn't. It seemed like there weren't enough staff members, as they were all running around.

I felt like eating sukiyaki in the Kanto region, so I went to Asakusa. I headed to "Yonekyu Honten" for their beef hot pot. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice, with tables on tatami mats. I ordered the special beef hot pot (with vegetables, tofu, konnyaku, and raw egg), along with rice, miso soup, and pickles. They lined up the beef in a shallow iron pot, seared it lightly, poured in the sauce, and quickly mixed it before taking it out of the pot and eating it with the beaten raw egg. The cooking process was great. The flavor of the beef melted into the sauce, and then they added leeks, tofu, konnyaku, and chrysanthemum greens to the pot. The vegetables were delicious too. I finished it in no time. Beef hot pot is something I crave occasionally. It was a delicious meal.

This is a long-established shop in Asakusa that I finally got to visit. I wonder if it's beef hot pot or sukiyaki? I think to myself as I head to the shop. It takes about 12.3 minutes to walk from Asakusa Station to the shop. When I arrive, they take my umbrella and shoes. There are tatami rooms and chair rooms. I was guided to the chair room. The menu only offers beef hot pot, with two types of meat: regular and premium. The person I went with can only eat lean meat, so we ordered the premium for two. The only side dish available was pickles. The beef hot pot is truly the origin of sukiyaki. The meat was very tender and delicious, with a good amount of lean meat. The sukiyaki sauce was also delicious. The vegetables included a little bit of shungiku, which was quite wilted. There was also tofu, shirataki noodles, and green onions. The beef hot pot here is more affordable compared to nearby upscale restaurants, and it's a good place to enjoy a hearty meat dish.

A beef hot pot restaurant with a history of over 100 years. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and my expectations were high, but unfortunately, it was disappointing. The service was not as bad as some people say. In fact, they were trying quite hard. However, the crucial part, the taste, was not good. The meat may look like it has marbling, but when you eat it, it's just fat (as you can see in the picture), and it's sliced extremely thin, so it lacks flavor even more. The broth was overly salty. This was the case for both the regular and the special cuts of meat. The rice was also cooked poorly and clumpy. I understand that it may be difficult to provide high-quality beef at this price, but for modern people who have tasted delicious and affordable beef dishes like at Yoshinoya, this restaurant's food is quite tough to enjoy. Perhaps this restaurant survives because it caters to tourists in Asakusa. I will not be visiting again.

Holiday, arrived around 18:50, 4-5 groups, 10-15 minutes wait ★ Premium, 4 servings (I heard that for the first order, everyone needs to choose the same type of meat.) Since my family is sensitive to fatty foods, we chose the premium option. The meat was incredibly beautiful...! The fatty part of the meat was sweet, with a pleasant texture that was irresistible. We preferred the sweet and rich dipping sauce, which paired perfectly with the meat. It was so delicious that we ended up fighting over the meat, but it's a dish that we want to share with our loved ones to experience happiness together! The meat and vegetables in the photo seem to be meant for 2 people per plate. We were served 2 plates of each. We finished 4 servings and then added 1 serving of premium. Despite the high fat content, surprisingly, we didn't feel heavy afterwards.

At the sukiyaki restaurant in Asakusa, they offer two types of menu: "premium" and "special," both serving high-quality meat. This time, we ordered three servings of the premium and one refill of the special. The first round of meat was cooked by the staff, and we grilled the rest ourselves.

I went for a slightly late lunch and was rejected at my first choice, so I wandered around and stumbled upon this restaurant. It had a traditional look and seemed promising. I decided to go in and ordered the special where you can choose between top-quality or bargain meat. The first dish was prepared by the staff, which was nice. I enjoyed the beef hot pot at a table overlooking the courtyard. Overall, it was alright.

Asakusa is a long-established sukiyaki restaurant located on the west side of Sensoji Temple. The exterior of the restaurant exudes a sense of history, and reservations are not taken, so it's a gamble to just show up. I visited on a weekday around 5 pm, still early enough to get a seat without any trouble. Since the restaurant has tatami flooring, you must take off your shoes at the entrance and receive a number tag, which is also linked to your bill. Another unique touch is the drum that is beaten when you enter the restaurant. The menu offers only two options: the special sukiyaki and the premium sukiyaki. I ordered the special and added some premium meat. The dishes were served promptly. The sukiyaki is cooked in a small iron pot connected to a gas burner with a tube, giving it a traditional feel. The special was made with sirloin, while the premium seemed to be made with tenderloin. The special cut was larger and had a satisfying texture. The meat was tender with a delicate layer of fat, making it delicious. Overall, it was a historic and enjoyable dining experience.

I went to a high cost-performance old-fashioned beef hot pot restaurant in Asakusa. The service was extremely quick, and I didn't have time to take many photos, so this is the only one I have! They only make it for you at the beginning, but they focus on quick turnover with explosive speed cooking and explanations, which was a bit off-putting. When I asked if I could take a photo, they said "sure", but the pressure to hurry up was intense, I almost burst out laughing. The beef hot pot itself was delicious. I knew that the meat was a high-quality white meat with a good amount of marbling, so I ordered it with confidence. When I learned the high price of eating sukiyaki outside, I was really impressed by the affordable price here. Most of the customers were tourists, it must be tough. The beef hot pot with vegetables and eggs cost ¥3,160 at Yonekyu Main Store in Asakusa. #Yonekyu #YonekyuMainStore #AsakusaYonekyu #BeefHotPot #AsakusaSightseeing #AsakusaGourmet #AsakusaFoodTour #TraditionalTaste #Sukiyaki #SukiyakiHotPot #FoodieGirls #MeatCraving #FoodPorn #TokyoGourmet #WantToConnectWithFoodies #Foodstagram #Meatstagram #ThankYouForTheMeal

I participated in a Hato bus tour! I was able to go to Asakusa Engei Hall for only 3,500 yen as a Tokyo resident, which was very affordable! They had delicious beef hot pot here, and it was enjoyable to eat as the flavors soaked in! I also got two small cups of sake for only 510 yen, so I could drink affordably.

There is a sukiyaki restaurant about a 10-minute walk from Asakusa Station. The interior has a traditional feel to it. There are many foreign tourists. I ordered the special sukiyaki and white rice. It was delicious, but the pot was small and the sizes of the meat were too uneven. The larger pieces of meat didn't fit nicely in the pot. It would be better if there were more ingredients. I prefer the slightly more upscale hot pot chains.

On Saturday, I attended a talk event by Manatsu Akimoto, the former captain of Nogizaka46, and then moved to Gugutto Minami-Senju! However, I ended up being turned away from 7 different restaurants and ended up walking all the way to Ura Asakusa! There, I saw a portable shrine parading through the streets! It must be the first Sanja Matsuri since the start of the pandemic! No wonder all the restaurants around Asakusa are crowded! With a glimmer of hope, I decided to try my luck at the reservation-free restaurant "Yonekyu" in Ura Asakusa, and luckily, I got in! Yonekyu is a super long-established restaurant founded in 1886, with a wonderful atmosphere that exudes the spirit of the Meiji era! I really wanted to eat sukiyaki while enjoying various side dishes, but basically, there's nothing better than the beef hot pot here. So, I ordered the beef hot pot set and a bottle of beer. The beef hot pot here is very reasonably priced at 3160 yen for the regular and 3790 yen for the special. I started with a Super Dry beer and then the beef hot pot set arrived. The meat had good marbling and was quite large! It was delicious! The young staff member made the beef hot pot for us at first, and then I quickly went for seconds. The vegetables only came with the first serving, so I mainly focused on the meat. The set also includes beef simmered in sauce, which served as a nice break between meat consumption and sake drinking. After finishing the regular set, I moved on to the special set. The meat quality was just as good, and honestly, the regular set was already satisfying. After finishing the special set, I ordered two more servings of the special set, rice, and a lemon sour. I quickly finished the lemon sour, as it's like juice to me, and ordered a bottle of sake (Sakura Masamune). I also added two more eggs, each costing 130 yen. In the end, I ate four servings of meat, drank sake, and spent around 15,000 yen. But if you eat normally without going for seconds, you could probably keep it under 7,000-8,000 yen. I recommend this place for enjoying traditional sukiyaki at a long-established restaurant. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely visit again!

It was very delicious. We couldn't make a reservation so we lined up. It was a weekday night and we waited for about 30 minutes. The atmosphere was lovely. Enjoying the hot pot while feeling the history was the best. I want to go back again, but it's a bit far from my living area, so it might be difficult to go back soon. But I definitely want to eat it again.

The cooking support is limited, so if you don't usually cook or are dining with a small group like on a date, you might feel a bit nervous. Questions like, "Can we eat the meat already? Should we add vegetables now? What should we do for extras? Should we lower the heat? Did it disappear? Should we call the staff?" might arise. It can be a bit overwhelming for those who are not good at conversations as all the focus is on the hot pot. However, despite feeling nervous, there is a lively and fun atmosphere. The meat is generally cooked beautifully and deliciously, so please rest assured. The restaurant has a traditional feel with a history of 100 years. The customers are mainly tourists, intimidating individuals, or solo entrepreneurs enjoying a hot pot meal. It's also entertaining that a drum sounds every time a customer enters. Located near Asakusa Station, you can take a leisurely stroll past the Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise Shopping Street, Asakusa Temple, Croquet Hall, and Hanayashiki Tower with the Skytree in the background before stopping by.

Tokumori, premium beef only, new flavor: excellent Atmosphere: excellent Cost performance: average This time I ordered Tokumori. The beauty of the meat brought to the table was breathtaking! The taste was also wonderful, and dipping the meat into beaten egg as soon as it changed color and taking a big bite automatically brought a smile to my face. The other ingredients were simple - green onions, chrysanthemum greens, white konjac, and grilled tofu - but this simplicity was just perfect. Combined with the atmosphere of the restaurant, I was able to have a blissful time. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, before meeting up with a friend in Asakusa! Speaking of Asakusa, Asakusa Osusume is a must-visit, so we headed to Yonekyu Honten~ヽ(*´∀`)ノ There were two of us, so we couldn't make a reservation, but we aimed to arrive around 12 o'clock and just went for it! Well, there was quite a line! It seemed like there were a lot of groups that day, so the restaurant was opening early to accommodate. They said we could get in within about 15 minutes, so we decided to wait in line since we would still make it in time for our next plan. We took off our shoes at the entrance and went inside, where a cute female staff member guided us to our table――(゚∀゚)――!! M went in first and went to the restroom... I followed after and was seated at a table, but when I was handed the menu... it was all in English! The staff member, upon seeing my face, immediately said, "Japanese... right?! ^^" and switched it for me. I took some photos for my food blog. So, for all the international guests, please use this as a reference☆ M is often mistaken for being Korean, but that's not true at all (・∀・) Just a little inside joke that M will never read, so this is just between us (・∀・)● Beef hot pot with vegetables and egg, one serving (3,160 yen) x 2● Rice, one serving (320 yen) x 2I wanted to drink beer, but I had plans after this, so I went with rice♪ Once we ordered, the food came out in about 2 minutes! At first, the cute staff member taught us how to dip the meat in the egg, so I felt relieved♡ It was amazing when dipped in the egg, the meat was so tender and melted in my mouth. The broth was already well-seasoned, and as it simmered, it caramelized and became richer. We enjoyed dipping the meat in the sauce and then pouring it over the white rice. The fatty part of the meat was so rich that one piece was enough for me, even half would have been sufficient. So, for adults, the premium option is not necessary, the regular option is recommended in my opinion. I thought about adding more meat, but my stomach was already feeling full, so we shared two servings between the two of us and were satisfied! The bill was a bit of a mechanical process, but we enjoyed the atmosphere and, as expected, it was a great experience at Yonekyu Honten! Thank you! (・∀・)

The atmosphere of the place is really nice. This time I had the special beef hot pot. The meat looks beautiful. The lean meat has a rich flavor, and the fatty parts are so tender that they melt in your mouth. I also added some vegetables. And rice. I had some drinks as well. Eating Sukiyaki (beef hot pot) in Asakusa at this price, I am satisfied.

I used it for a celebration with relatives. I ordered the special beef hot pot with vegetables and eggs (3,790 yen), rice (320 yen), and miso soup (320 yen). It was even more delicious than last time, the special beef was top-notch. It was tender, the fat was sweet and melted in my mouth. The vegetables, rice, and miso soup were also delicious. It was so tasty that even though I was on a diet, I ended up getting a second serving of rice. Truly a long-standing traditional restaurant since the Meiji era. No matter how many times I eat here, I am always impressed. Thank you for the meal.

This is a nostalgic famous restaurant that I visited with my family only once during my student days. This is the "Yonekyu Main Store". As I get older, I find it harder to eat heavy meals, so I only have sukiyaki once a year, and that special once a year meal is here. Located right next to Asakusa Hanayashiki, you can easily recognize it by the grand lantern displayed outside. Established in Meiji 19, this is a respectable long-standing store. Although it was rebuilt 70 years ago, the interior still retains its traditional charm, with earthquake-resistant pillars added throughout. It is not lacking in cleanliness, and I was impressed by how well-maintained it is. The women's restroom had a nostalgic interior with red slippers like those in a community center. The menu is simple, offering only beef hot pot. Of course, there are vegetables, rice, and miso soup available as well. We started with the Toku set, which comes with rice, miso soup, pickles, and oolong tea. Later, we also ordered additional eggs and vegetables. The waitress was very salty, which prompted my companion to comment that it wasn't good. The set arrived promptly. The vegetables included grilled tofu, shirataki noodles, chrysanthemum greens, and green onions. The pickles, especially the eggplant, were delicious. The meat, whether Toku or upper-grade, didn't seem to differ much in taste. It was easy to eat as it didn't have too much fat. However, the miso soup and rice were disappointing. The rice had a yellowish color, lacked sweetness, and seemed dry, almost tasteless. The miso soup had an overpowering bonito flavor, as if the bonito flakes were still in it. Despite the good meat, having poor rice is a waste. The restaurant is reasonably priced, doesn't require reservations, and welcomes walk-ins, making it convenient for casual dining. Overall, it was a decent meal.
