Lunch at a popular Western-style restaurant known for dishes like menchi katsu, hamburger, croquette, and shrimp fry. This time, I decided to try their curry for the first time. I had the crispy and rich tonkatsu curry for 1800 yen including tax. First, I enjoyed the seasonal corn potage, warm and delicious. The salad, with fresh shredded cabbage and special dressing, was refreshing. The thick tonkatsu had a fluffy white coating. The curry sauce, named black curry, was indeed black in color. However, the flavor was not too intense, with a balanced mix of fondue and curry spices. The rice, tonkatsu, and curry sauce were served on a long plate, allowing you to enjoy each component separately, which was interesting. The garnish included the traditional fukujinzuke, which added to the overall enjoyment. When you feel a bit tired of hamburger steak or menchi katsu, trying the tonkatsu curry once in a while might be a good idea. The fried eggplant hidden underneath the tonkatsu was delicious! The special sauce was versatile, complementing the tonkatsu, curry, and salad. Water was served in a bottle, which was convenient for a curry lunch. Visiting after 12:30 PM allowed for a relatively easy entry, and the quiet atmosphere was a plus. Thank you for the meal. The table billing system made things easier. Not many university students were seen inside, probably because it's hard to spend 1800 yen on tonkatsu curry during lunchtime. If given the chance, visiting a university cafeteria might be interesting. I also tried the mixed fry on another day, which included pork cutlet, croquette, shrimp fry, and squid fry, and I was very satisfied!
