Raiichasen Style Matcha
It was a weekday afternoon, so there was a line but it wasn't too crowded and I was able to order quickly. You can enjoy high-quality matcha at a reasonable price, making it a great value. The taste was satisfying and really helped me relax my tired mind and body. The simple yet elegant aroma and flavor of the matcha was irresistible.

I went on a Monday afternoon. Since it was a weekday, the restaurant was empty and there were enough wooden benches for everyone to sit. I tried the matcha beer, which tasted like beer with a hint of matcha flavor. It wasn't particularly delicious, but it wasn't bad either.

I visited this restaurant with my family on a weekday morning. The location is on the west side of Senso-ji Temple, on the street where the Asakusa Wooden Horse Hall Public Theater is located. It's to the left when facing Senso-ji Temple. As I was walking from my accommodation towards the main branch, I came across another branch of the same brand. Upon researching, I found out that there are a total of three branches. Since the quality of the food doesn't vary based on the chef's skills, I decided to stop by this branch. There is only one reception counter. Despite the high number of inbound customers, the line seemed to move relatively quickly. Overall, the efficiency was lacking. The seating space inside the restaurant is limited, so they might intentionally be slowing down the process. The soft-serve ice cream is served by squeezing it out of individual packs using a machine. Finally, when it was my turn, I ordered the chilled matcha for 700 yen and the strong tea for 650 yen. Credit card payment is accepted. Surprisingly, many shops in Asakusa are not very cashless-friendly. I doubt this will change in the future. I received a buzzer and secured a seat. It buzzed after about 6 minutes. The shop claims that "high-quality matcha is not bitter," but I can't confirm if that's true. The chilled matcha did provide a refreshing break, but the prices seemed a bit inflated due to the touristy location. Overall, it was a decent experience.

I had matcha shaved ice. It was my first time eating matcha and it had been a long time since I had shaved ice. The taste was kind of subtle and not very sweet, so it felt like I was just eating ice. Surprisingly, the water dispenser in the store was at room temperature.

★3.8 [FILE 4177] 2023/07/28 (Fri) 12:30 Visited a tea sweets specialty shop called "Raiichi Tea" located near Senso-ji Temple along the Omatsuri-machi street in Asakusa. This shop opened on the first floor of a building 4 years and 4 months ago in March 2019. There are three other sister stores: the first store "Raiichi Tea Asakusa Honten" opened in March 2016, the second store "Raiichi Tea Matcha Experience Store" opened in March 2019, and the third store "Raiichi Tea Denboin-dori" opened in October 2020. As of May 2023, there were 26 remaining stores after one store closed down. The interior of the shop has a spacious and casual atmosphere with a color scheme of light tea and dark green. There are chairs but no tables. When I visited at 12:30, there was a line of 12 people. I placed my order at the counter at 12:40. The staff consisted of 3 women who provided efficient service. The menu includes items like "Rich Matcha Warabi" for 850 yen, "Rich Matcha" for 650 yen, "Matcha Warabi" for 700 yen, "Matcha" for 500 yen, "Roasted Tea Warabi" for 650 yen, "Roasted Tea" for 450 yen, "Royal Milk Tea Warabi" for 650 yen, and "Royal Milk Tea" for 450 yen. I ordered the "Rich Matcha Warabi" for 850 yen. It was served 6 minutes after ordering, with a jar containing matcha ice cream, warabi mochi, Kyoto tea leaves, and a panda monaka. The rich matcha ice cream was delicious, and the soft warabi mochi hidden at the bottom was also tasty. The shop allows various cashless payment methods. It's a shame that there are no tables, only chairs. The "Rich Matcha Warabi" for 850 yen was delicious with its rich matcha ice cream and hidden warabi mochi.

I happened to pass by and there was no line, so I decided to go in. The rich matcha gelato definitely had a strong matcha flavor. However, the matcha concentration might have been high because it lacked the smooth texture typical of gelato. I'm sure everyone is struggling with high ingredient costs these days, but I was surprised by the small portion. (Sorry) The matcha beer apparently didn't have the best matcha and beer combination. I know I've made a lot of comments, but the matcha beans I tried were very delicious, and the cream puffs looked delicious too. Thank you for the meal.

I was curious about the matcha beer, but I was too scared to order it. The place was so crowded that I had to line up just to place my order, and they even used a bell to call out for pick-up. There was a staff member in the back constantly making matcha, looking very busy. It wasn't a place where you could take a break. The matcha was rich and delicious.

I enjoyed hojicha and Japanese black tea at Raiicha. It's a great place for matcha, but their hojicha and Japanese black tea are also delicious. I couldn't resist trying their hojicha soft serve, Japanese black tea latte, and black sugar warabi latte. I've been obsessed with the warabi latte lately - it's perfect for hot days with its smooth texture. I also love that they serve panda-shaped monaka. Despite always being busy, the shop is very spacious, so it's easy to find a seat and take a break. It's become my favorite spot.

Matcha lovers will be delighted! The matcha cream puff is filled with the flavor of matcha, and the seasonal limited edition Japanese black tea cream puff and roasted green tea cream puff are also incredibly delicious! They are so good that I wish they were not limited edition but instead part of the regular menu.

I entered the shop after 3 pm. There were about 10 people in line, but I was able to order smoothly. I ordered matcha ice cream. It came with a panda design monaka topping. The matcha flavor was rich. The shop has enough seating. The restroom is right in front, so you can eat in peace.

According to the person I went with, this place is ranked quite high among the fierce competition of matcha soft serve ice cream. I compared it with a strong matcha flavor, and even the regular one was satisfyingly matcha-flavored. It was easy to eat as there was no strange bitterness. The cone had a unique shape, which personally made it a bit difficult to eat, but I think it was designed to prevent dripping. Thanks to that, I was able to safely finish eating it all the way to the bottom where the soft serve was still there.

I tried going to Raiichi Tea. While waiting for my order of matcha warabi (700 yen) and matcha (700 yen), I bought and ate an matcha cream puff (510 yen). The puff itself was ordinary, but the rich matcha cream inside was delicious. I had the matcha warabi, which was tasty with its matcha ice cream and hidden warabi mochi underneath.

The place was crowded, but it seemed like the customers were not the type to leave reviews. The shop offers cream puffs, drinks, soft serve ice cream, and souvenir sweets.
What I had:
- As shown in the picture, a cream puff (cost around 500 yen)
It was a delicious cream puff with a good balance of matcha flavor, considering the price.
- I will be meeting friends for drinks soon, so I also bought a hojicha chocolate.

Matcha Beer
I'm not a big fan of either matcha or beer, but I couldn't resist trying this unique combination! The beer had a good flavor and the matcha added a nice touch, with both bitter tastes complementing each other well. The beer flavor was stronger overall. I also noticed they had matcha soft serve, which looked delicious.
Recommended:
- Matcha Beer (700 yen including tax)
Highlights:
- A place to experience matcha
- A wide variety of matcha menu items
- Easy to find, located at the end of the street
Visited on a Sunday evening, no reservations allowed. The atmosphere was relaxed, with benches available. Mostly frequented by women and couples.

On May 29, 2022 (Sunday) at 10:28 (according to the receipt), I visited Asakusa after a long time. The area around Asakusa Station, Kaminarimon, and Asakusa Temple was extremely crowded. After visiting the temple, I happened to come to this shop. At the entrance, they were grinding tea using a stone mill. After waiting for about 5-6 minutes, I ordered an iced matcha tea for 550 yen, which came with a panda-themed monaka. The rich matcha soft serve ice cream was delicious! I also tried the matcha warabi mochi for 780 yen, which had a subtly sweet and delicious taste.

[Ordered item (including tax)] ・Matcha soft serve ice cream: 550 yen
[Impressions (personal thoughts. May vary depending on the ordered items, and taste preferences vary from person to person)] ・Visited on a Sunday afternoon (regarding the food) ・Being matcha, it was on the strong side, but not overwhelmingly so. The matcha flavor was decent, with a normal aroma. ・The soft serve ice cream was rich and had a good depth of flavor, quite delicious. ・I bought it for the matcha and soft serve ice cream flavors, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the crunchy rice cake and sweet rice crackers were. ・The soft serve ice cream was smaller than I had imagined (I think it's a bit small for sharing between two people). (Other) ・The system was "Order → Payment → Receive a number tag → Wait inside the store → Number called → Receive the order." ・They accepted contactless payment. ・They also had matcha beer and other interesting items, so I'd like to try more next time. ・Thank you for the meal.

When I entered the store, I first tried the chocolate samples. Then, I tried the matcha-flavored soft serve sample, and the service was excellent! The matcha flavor was rich and not too bitter, allowing you to fully enjoy the taste of matcha. Even if you're not a fan of matcha bitterness, you can still enjoy the rich matcha ice cream.

When it comes to matcha ice cream in Asakusa, Susukien along Kannonura and Gondo Street immediately comes to mind. However, upon searching on Tabelog, I also found another place! It's a simple shop with a booth set up on the first floor corridor of a building. Their Matcha Soft Serve costs ¥400 and is made with 2.5% stone-ground matcha, with a choice of cup or cone. I chose the cup option. The ingredients are stored in a frozen container and squeezed out manually using a dispenser, which is quite hygienic. The matcha has a slight bitterness but also a sweetness from the theanine, and the soft serve has a very smooth texture. The crispy rice cracker served as a palate cleanser is also of high quality. Overall, they also offer a Matcha Soft Serve for ¥550 with a matcha content of 3.5%.

Visited to have dessert while taking a stroll in Asakusa. You can also purchase items at the storefront, but you can sit down and eat inside as well. The matcha ice cream for 550 yen comes with a choice of cup or cone. The cup has a crispy puff on top, so you can enjoy a different texture compared to the cone. I sat down in the tatami area to eat. There were paper cups, water, and napkins available nearby. The intense matcha ice cream is smoother compared to others, but still has a distant salty aftertaste. The common point is that the intense flavor leaves a salty sensation in the aftertaste (may vary per individual). It was nice to be able to sit and enjoy the ice cream in a traditional Japanese atmosphere.

I don't really like beer in the first place, and the matcha flavor is a bit weak.
