I went to a chicken restaurant right near Shinjuku Station! It's only about a minute from the exit, maybe less depending on which one you take. It's located behind Daikoku Drug store. The restaurant is downstairs and was already bustling with customers early on a weekday. - Gisasa Hotaruika with vinegar miso dressing and sesame tofu: The Gisasa is a type of seaweed from Akita, similar to mozuku but a bit stickier. - Cartilage fried chicken with seaweed salt and lemon: Since it's a chicken restaurant, I had to order the fried chicken. - Imaiya seasonal lettuce salad with burdock and asparagus: Chicken meat was included in the salad, and the refreshing dressing made it easy to eat. - Imaiya special Hichinai Jidori white cloudy bone soup: The ultimate sukiyaki hot pot dish. The pot is pre-warmed and brought to your table. The tender chicken meat and vegetables disappeared quickly, and the rich broth was perfect for making porridge afterwards. - Special salted liver sashimi-style: Served with sesame oil, it was surprisingly light. I also tried the limited edition Harima Ichiken SPRING SHINE sake. There were many office workers stopping by, probably due to the convenient location near the station!

I went to Imaiya main store in Nishi-Shinjuku after a long time and had a lot of delicious yakitori a la carte! Everything was tasty! The kitartanpo was delicious when eaten with miso. The tsukune, ginkgo nuts, and quail were also delicious. I had forgotten that the restaurant is located underground.

I used this restaurant for entertaining our business partners. The place has a traditional feel and is well-maintained. The private rooms are great for a leisurely business meal. The staff is polite and provides good service. The yakitori was delicious and satisfying, but I was a bit surprised by the bill. We ordered a few yakitori skewers, some appetizers, and each had a few drinks like beer, highballs, and lemon sours. Despite not ordering excessively, the bill exceeded 20,000 yen for three people. It's a bit much to spend over 20,000 yen on yakitori for three people. It might be more cost-effective to go for a set course menu instead.

The food was delicious at the Higashiguchi store, so I also tried the skewers at the Nishiguchi store. The staff were very friendly, and it's a cozy hidden gem of a restaurant. However, the grilling was a bit inconsistent, possibly because we arrived early. It seems that the grilling style, taste of the meat, and variety are different from the Higashiguchi store. If you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, you might want to visit the Nishiguchi store.

I visited for the first time in July 2023, and everything from the yakitori to the otoshi and the parent-child donburi for the finale was delicious. The service was very quick, and no matter what we ordered, it came out right away, which was surprising. The private rooms were a good size, and the surrounding noise was not too loud, so we could enjoy a leisurely conversation. Overall, the prices are a bit high, but it's worth it. There could be a few more types of sake, which would make sake lovers happy, but it was enough for me.

The cost performance was good, and I enjoyed four different types of oolong tea in the Uronhai menu. It was a business meeting, but the food was delicious. I would like to visit another branch as well. I'm glad I found a yakitori restaurant in Shinjuku that is easy to get to.

If you want to eat delicious yakitori in Shinjuku, Imaiya is the place to go! Although I usually go to the third district, this was my first time at the west exit. The inside of the restaurant was a bit noisy, making it difficult to have a conversation with my friend sitting in front of me, but the waitress was kind and the food was delicious. Here's what we ate: - Appetizers: tofu, chicken breast, eggplant - Kyoto-style fried tofu and vegetable salad - Specialty rolled omelette with silver bean paste - Chicken breast and long yam skewers - Premium spicy cod roe grilled over charcoal - Juicy and plump chicken thigh - Tender chicken breast and skin skewers - Large and meaty chicken wings - Asparagus skewers - Snow-viewing chilled tofu Everything was delicious, and I especially enjoyed the unique flavors and textures of each dish. The salt, soy sauce, and condiments were also of high quality. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

The atmosphere is nice but the prices are quite high! We had the omakase set with 5 skewers, grilled corn, sea bream ham, dashimaki tamago, and appetizers. I wanted to eat more but forgot to take photos, haha. All the yakitori was delicious! Personally, I liked the kiritanpo and tsukune the best. I had high expectations for the dashimaki tamago because the menu said it was a specialty of the restaurant, but I didn't like it that much. Maybe I'm not a fan of the broth. I was confused by the sea bream ham at first, but once I tried it, I understood! It was smoked and tasted just like ham, haha. I think this is a perfect place for a mature date!

Today, I opted for a la carte instead of a course menu. I started with a toast and a beer for a cheers. The appetizers were a delightful mix of different dishes, including negima (grilled chicken and scallion skewers), hatsuni (boiled pig innards), and white liver. The white liver was particularly tender and delicious, possibly the best liver I've ever had. I definitely want to have it again. The seasonal Izumi water eggplant was fresh and tasty. And of course, the crispy cabbage dish was a must-have with its addictive sauce. Despite the generous portion, I managed to finish it all because it was so delicious. The green-colored tsukune (chicken meatball) was also a pleasant surprise. The pickled vegetables assortment was a nice palate cleanser. I would love to visit this place again.

I visited Shinjuku Imaiya Main Store on July 2, 2022. My journey with Imaiya started at the Roppongi branch next to the Family Mart in front of Midtown Roppongi, then I visited the famous Shinjuku branch, and finally arrived at the Imaiya in Nishi-Shinjuku. I became addicted to the spicy red parent and child bowl served for lunch and started coming once a month for lunch. It is located on a narrow alley to the left after turning right at the first intersection after crossing the intersection right after coming out of Shinjuku Station South Exit. It is a yakitori restaurant open all year round, including Sundays, which is very convenient. I had the 12-course Hana course for the most affordable course, and I have tried all the dishes in this course, which I believe offers the best value for money. The all-you-can-drink option is an additional ¥2,000. The course included various dishes such as appetizers, seasonal lettuce salad, grilled Hichinai chicken skewers, spicy fried Hichinai chicken wings, roasted Hichinai chicken breast, and more. The dessert was also included, all for ¥5,000. Enjoying a cold beer with delicious yakitori for a little over ¥6,000 including tax is very satisfying. I must mention again that the red spicy parent and child bowl for lunch is exceptionally delicious. This area is also home to the Michelin-starred regular and high-value "Toriya" located right after turning right at the intersection of Koshu Kaido and Junisha-dori, but if you want a place near the station, this is the place to go. The restaurant is always clean, with private smoking booths outside, making it a comfortable place to dine both during the day and at night. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I used very good meat called Satsuma-jidori. I have a feeling that it would be incredibly delicious if I adjust the amount of salt and the cooking time. I was a little concerned about it being slightly salty and slightly overcooked. However, I felt that they were using good ingredients in terms of the size of the meat and the quality of the ingredients. The high-class atmosphere doesn't quite match the land prices in Nishi-Shinjuku, but if it's delicious, it's worth the price. Thank you for the meal!

I visited Imai-ya, known for using domestic chicken in their yakitori. The actual main store is located on the east side of Shinjuku, down a flight of stairs where the staff greets you. I ordered the Yakitori Omakase (2300 yen), Tai white fish milt with ponzu sauce (800 yen), and Kinka mackerel ham smoked from Ishinomaki Port (800 yen). The Yakitori Omakase included bonjiri, harami, skin, negima, and tsukune, each one was exquisite. The bonjiri had thick and elastic chicken meat that was very delicious. Each skewer had more volume than expected, so I felt satisfied with just these. The white fish milt with ponzu sauce had no odor and was surprisingly delicious. I used points so I didn't mind the price too much, but it may be a bit pricey for yakitori. However, the taste was very satisfying and enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.

I have been to Imaiya many times. They have locations in Kagurazaka and Shinagawa as well. Must-try items include the killer skewers like the hugging skewer and white liver (often out of stock, so consider yourself lucky if you find it), as well as the tsukune. I recommend trying their seasonal menu items, tofu (they have a smooth and creamy tofu called Shirayuki that is best enjoyed with salt), and delicious vegetables. This yakitori restaurant offers a sense of security, and it tends to get quite busy, so I suggest making a reservation in advance.

I went to Imaiya in Nishi-Shinjuku. I think the last time I was here was about 20 years ago. It feels nice to revisit a place I've been to before. On this day, we had a course for 6000 yen with all-you-can-drink. The yakitori was delicious as always. The best part was probably the chicken porridge soup.

This is a yakitori (grilled skewers) izakaya located in Nishi-Shinjuku. They serve lunch, so I decided to try their late lunch menu. I ordered the negima (green onion and chicken) kushikatsu (skewers) donburi for 1000 yen including tax. The food arrived quite quickly. I paid with shareholder vouchers and cash. It was delicious. In this day and age, it's quite a challenge just to find a restaurant that is open. On a Sunday around 6:30 PM, we managed to slip into a nearly full restaurant without a reservation! Here is what we ordered: - Otoshi (appetizer) x2: 1,060 yen - Seabass Regal 12 years: 700 yen - Ringo Mansaku (apple cocktail): 700 yen - Jack Daniel's: 650 yen - Chicken and Nagaimo skewers: 700 yen - Chicken gizzard: 420 yen - Harami (skirt steak): 400 yen - Kiritampo (grilled pounded rice): 500 yen - Handmade tsukune (chicken meatball): 530 yen The total came to 6,220 yen! The Ringo Mansaku, made with freshly squeezed juice from Akita's "Kohgyoku" apples and sweet sake brewed with sake lees, was delicious! The restaurant, rated 3.47 on Tabelog as of May 2020, was a great find!

Located about a 7-minute walk from the west exit of Shinjuku Station, this yakitori restaurant is frequented by a wide range of age groups. We ordered a course menu, and among the dishes, the ginkgo nuts were incredibly delicious! We enjoyed horse sashimi, bonjiri, negima, ginkgo nuts, foie gras skewers, tsukune, and chawanmushi. The foie gras skewers had a wonderful flavor that paired perfectly with alcohol. It would go well with both sake and wine.

At the entrance of Nishi-Shinjuku. The quiet and calm atmosphere inside the restaurant is a stark contrast to the noisy exterior. The seating and tables are a bit cramped, but that's to be expected in Shinjuku. The Shiitake mushroom grill was delicious, with a juicy and fluffy texture. I tried the grilled chicken skewer with egg ovary, which was surprisingly egg-like in taste. It was good, but I think I would have been fine with just a regular egg. We finished with their famous Mizutaki hot pot. The beer glasses were quite thin. Both the drinks and dishes were on the smaller side for the price. It felt more like a place to go with a boss or colleagues to enjoy good food rather than a casual girls' night out.

We used it for a company year-end party! We made a reservation for 8 people, but one person canceled due to feeling unwell on the day, so we had to change the number to 7 people and inform the restaurant on the day, which was unfortunate.
