I paid 750 yen for the sweet potato brulee. The sweet potato was a bit small in size. I was told it was the Beni Haruka variety, but it seemed more like Beni Azuma due to its dryness. The brulee topping was mostly a liquid sauce with a thick layer of burnt sugar on top, and it didn't taste good. I felt that 750 yen was too much for what I received. It was disappointing, especially after having the honey-filled Beni Haruka at another place.

When you think of Asakusa, you think of sweet potatoes, right? Especially along the approach to the temple, you'll find a variety of sweets made with sweet potatoes, including this unique dessert. Located off the main street, this shop called Imo Pippi offers a special treat - rich sweet potato ice cream squeezed right in front of you after you order it. You can't eat it while walking, so you need to head to the eat-in area inside a nearby shop about 5 stores down. Underneath the purple sweet potato Mont Blanc, you'll find a coarse sweet potato paste and ice cream hidden. It was a bit too sweet for me towards the end, but my friend with a sweet tooth happily finished it all! If you're visiting Asakusa, be sure to try it out!

I visited the shop at night so there were no other customers. I ordered the creme brulee and sweet potato Mont Blanc. The prices seemed a bit high, probably due to being in a tourist area, but I was satisfied. The taste was really delicious, but since it's only available for takeout, I had it at home. I thought it would be even better to eat the freshly squeezed Mont Blanc on the spot!

"A shop in Asakusa where you can eat sweet potatoes! The popular menu item is 'Purple sweet potato and ice cream with a 1mm silk thread of purple sweet potato paste'. Under the purple sweet potato, there is also whipped cream and ice cream, which go perfectly together! The shop is only for takeout and located a few doors down from a curry bread shop! It was easily accessible from Senso-ji Temple and Asakusa Hanayashiki."

When I passed by before, there was always a long line so I gave up. But this time, maybe because of the heat, there was no line so I was able to purchase. It was too hot, so I ordered one with ice cream on top. The sweet potato was incredibly rich and delicious, unlike any sweet potato I've had before. I'm curious about the purple sweet potato ice cream next time, so I'll give it a try.

I tried a dessert with silk thread and purple sweet potato ice cream. It has four layers: silk thread purple sweet potato on top, whipped cream, rich vanilla ice cream, and thinly sliced roasted sweet potato at the bottom. It's impressive to see it made in front of you every time you order. The roasted sweet potato at the end, combined with the vanilla ice cream, is incredibly delicious. It's a perfect summer treat, as cold sweets are refreshing and great for a mood boost. If you love sweet potatoes, this dessert is a must-try! ✅

While looking for sweets in Asakusa, I came across a shop near Senso-ji Temple and purchased a dessert called "kinshi-to no murasakiimo" with ice cream. Unfortunately, there was no seating space inside the shop, but it was allowed to take photos while assembling the dessert (ice cream topped with purple sweet potato), making it perfect for social media. The taste was really delicious, so I highly recommend it. Plus, it looked cute too.

The taste was as expected from the photo! It was all about the sweet potato!! Towards the end, the fibers became a bit too much for me, but for those who love sweet potatoes, it must be irresistible. I had to get a ticket and wait in line about five shops away, but I was able to buy relatively smoothly. However, I had a bit of trouble finding a place to eat it.

I received the side dish menu as a souvenir. The sweet potato brulee has a crispy custard on top of the sweet potato, giving it a crunchy and fragrant texture. It's equivalent to one whole sweet potato, so it's quite filling. It would be a luxurious brunch for women on a holiday. When it gets hot, I want to go eat the signature menu of silk thread purple sweet potato and ice cream.

Asakusa tour 6th stop is Imo Pippi's baked sweet potato creme brulee. I was really looking forward to this place and was excited even before going! But oh boy, the wait was long! You need to get a queuing ticket, and the wait for that is quite long. In my case, I went on a Monday and waited for 45 minutes 😭. It's not as long when you actually receive the ticket at the store. The queuing process here feels like waiting for a Disney attraction. I think it's great for solo foodies or groups of 2-3 friends to come here, but I wouldn't recommend it for families... The prices are as follows: Baked sweet potato creme brulee 680 yen (what I ordered), Baked sweet potato ice cream 680 yen, Baked sweet potato honey butter 680 yen, Purple sweet potato and ice cream 1300 yen, Aged baked sweet potato 100g/220 yen. Now, onto the most important part, the taste... It was delicious! I was almost in tears after waiting for so long... Honestly, it was the best thing I had during my Asakusa tour this time. When you dig into it, the creme brulee cracks crisply. When you take a bite, the custard cream on top is so sweet and creamy. I could drown in this custard and leave this world in happiness. Moving on to the baked sweet potato, it was sweeter and stickier than any other sweet potato I've had before. It's no wonder they claim to have aged it over 50 degrees of sugar content! When you eat the custard and sweet potato together, it's so sweet that you might feel like you're ascending to heaven! Sweet lovers will absolutely love it... If you ever come to Asakusa, I highly recommend everyone to try it! (*^。^*)

It's quite filling! I was confused because the place where you buy and the place where you line up are different, but I was relieved to be able to buy it safely! The visual information made it look so delicious that my expectations were quite high, but after eating it once, I was satisfied... It would have been better if there was more creme brulee feeling.

When it comes to Asakusa, the image of "eating while walking" is strong, and recently, sweets using sweet potatoes have been popular. I visited at the end of autumn and winter, the delicious season for sweet potatoes. Please note that the reception and pick-up locations are different. There were quite a few people lined up, but I was surprised by the smooth operation. The sweet potato itself and the brulee part were both relatively modest, making it easier to eat than I imagined. Thank you for the meal.

The sweet potato brulee takeaway was too sweet for my liking. It felt like eating straight sugar. Also, my friend ordered the same thing but theirs was noticeably smaller than the one in the picture. There seems to be a significant variation in size among the servings.

It was quite a popular store where you line up at a different location from the store where you receive the products, get a numbered ticket, and then make a purchase. I waited in a line of about 30 people, got guided by a staff member, and purchased a sweet potato brulee and a 1mm silk thread purple sweet potato ice cream. For the purple sweet potato ice cream, they provided a service where you could take a picture when they poured the silk thread on top. Both were delicious, but personally, I preferred the sweet potato brulee.

The sweet and sticky baked sweet potatoes at this sweet potato specialty store were delicious! The combination of butter and honey was perfect, and the portion size was just right. You need to get a ticket about 50 meters away before ordering, but there are plenty of seats available for eating on the go. I couldn't go to the sweet potato festival in Shin-Okubo, so I'm venting my frustration here! I found this shop on Instagram and was able to enjoy delicious sweet potato sweets without waiting in line. They asked us to sit on a bench in front of UNIQLO to eat because eating while walking is prohibited, and we followed the rules! We disposed of our trash in the trash cans provided by the shop. It was delicious.

On this day, I went on a food tour in Asakusa with my son's request. He had done some research on Asakusa food tours on YouTube and handed me a note with the requested shops. We bought the "Sweet Potato Brulee." I took a bite and found the surface to be crispy, while the inside was creamy and delicious, with a substantial portion that was enough for two people. This sweet potato has a strong sweetness with a sugar content of over 50 degrees and a long aging period of 3 months, resulting in a sticky texture and overflowing honey-like flavor that doesn't feel like a regular sweet potato. We had to wait in line, but the checkout process was smooth, so it wasn't a problem. The shop may not be suitable for strollers. Thank you for the meal! Address: 2-3-24 Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo.

After enjoying a Tempura Soba sandwich at Tsukumo Sandwich, it's now time for dessert. I got a takeout of "Imo Pippi's" "Sweet Potato Brulee". It's a sweet treat where custard is placed on top of a baked sweet potato. At 680 yen per piece, it's a bit pricey for a dessert. The sweet potato is deliciously sweet, but a whole sweet potato is a bit too much in terms of portion size. It would be nice to have a smaller and more affordable option available.

Asakusa foodie tour, 6th stop: "Imo Pipi"
"Imo Pipi" is a popular sweet potato dessert shop with over 20 branches mainly located in western Japan. It has been featured in various media outlets, benefiting from the recent sweet potato boom. The shop is just a 1-2 minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba EXP line, near Hoppy Street. Their Purple Cloud, a Mont Blanc-like dessert, and sweet potato sweets are popular choices. We ordered the highly recommended Sweet Potato Brulee, made with sweet potatoes aged for 3 months with a sugar content of over 50 degrees. The sweet and moist sweet potato paired perfectly with the caramelized custard cream, making it a delicious treat.

Highly recommended for taro lovers!! The dessert consists of a generous amount of taro cream on top of vanilla ice cream, with a volume that feels like a full meal. The taro brulee is also rich and delicious, perfect for sharing between two people. I definitely recommend visiting this place at least once!! If this review was helpful, I would appreciate a like and follow. Stay tuned for more local information shared in the future. Thank you!
