On my way home from work, I stopped by to have a drink while walking. It was only 100 yen including tax, and it was at room temperature, so it wasn't too cold even though it was chilly outside. It was a good feeling.

Today's lunch craving is cold noodles. The restaurants haven't started serving yet, so I decided to do a comparison of convenience store options. Excluding tax, Lawson is \358, Seven is \330, and FamilyMart is \335. Lawson is the most cost-effective with the largest portion. However, FamilyMart overall has the edge despite being \5 more expensive. Lawson's soy sauce dressing stands out with its acidity and umami, while FamilyMart has a decent, safe flavor. Seven's cold noodles are a bit lacking. The common ingredients are ham, cucumber, pickled ginger, and shredded egg. Lawson and Seven also include half a boiled egg. Only Seven has seaweed. The differences lie in bean sprouts and char siu. I personally prefer char siu over ham for its volume and taste. Providing a delicious soy sauce dressing at this price point is quite impressive. In this comparison, FamilyMart is the winner for hitting my taste preferences. I also bought a tuna rice ball for \130. The seaweed aroma hits you as you open the package, the rice is fluffy, and the tuna is decent. It almost looks like a "tataki plum" at first glance. I look forward to trying out other convenience store options like Ministop and Maibas. Now, I can't wait for the local Chinese restaurant to announce their cold noodles!
