Today's takeout adventure took me to the area around Musashi-Koyama Station. After exiting the ticket gate at Tokyu Line Musashi-Koyama Station, I headed towards the east exit and turned left towards the rotary. After a short walk, I found myself on Palm Shotengai Street on my left. Continuing on, I turned left at the intersection of Palm Ichiban Street and soon spotted the restaurant I visited today, Torayu Ichiban-dori Store. The original Torayu main store was founded in 1926 as a chicken meat shop, and has evolved into its current style post-war. At 5:20 PM on a Saturday, there were four people standing and drinking in front of the store, and two people waiting in line for takeout, so I joined the takeout line. Before it was my turn, I checked the menu. The menu (per skewer) included: Hinaniku (chicken thigh) for 180 yen, Negi-niku (chicken with green onion) for 180 yen, Shishitou-niku (chicken with green pepper) for 180 yen, Liver for 180 yen, Skin for 180 yen, Snagimo (chicken neck) for 180 yen, Mix for 180 yen, Nankotsu (chicken cartilage) for 180 yen, Tsukune (chicken meatball) sold out for 180 yen, and Unagi (eel) sold out for 180 yen. When it was my turn, I ordered three skewers of liver, two skewers of skin, and one each of Negi-niku, Shishitou-niku, and Mix with sauce. Back at home, I enjoyed the meal. Torayu's sauce is a secret recipe that has been passed down since the establishment of the restaurant. The sauce came in small containers. I poured the sauce over the skewers on a plate. The liver was tender and flavorful, without any unpleasant taste, complemented well by the smoky aroma of the charcoal and the sweet and savory secret sauce. Liver is rich in nutrients like Vitamin A, B, iron, and zinc, making it a healthy choice. Chicken skin was fatty, offering a rich sweetness and a unique texture that I love, whether crispy or chewy. The Mix skewer, a combination of chicken skin, gizzard, and liver, is a signature menu item that always reminds me of Torayu. Negi-niku provided a juicy and flavorful combination of meat and crunchy green onion. Shishitou-niku offered a balance of meaty richness and a slightly bitter flavor reminiscent of bell peppers. Today, I indulged in delicious yakitori at this popular, longstanding restaurant enjoyed by people of all ages. Thank you for the meal.
