The famous Kakiyasu in the department store basement actually started as a beef hot pot restaurant in 1871 in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture. It later expanded to include delicatessen and Japanese sweets. The main branch of the restaurant is in Kuwana, with another branch in Ginza. Today, I celebrated my mother's birthday at the Ginza branch. We had a luxurious private room all to ourselves, and the attentive staff cooked the food for us, so we could relax and enjoy. We ordered the Kakiyasu Matsusaka beef sukiyaki course (14,520 yen). Matsusaka beef is a rare delicacy, with less than 1% of the annual 4,800 cows raised in Mie Prefecture achieving the A5 grade. The meal started with beef shigure-ni, where the first slice of meat was cooked with egg. Then we had vegetables before the second slice was cooked with grated daikon. Finally, we had rice with the meal, which was delicious and shiny. Personally, I wish we had rice with the first slice of meat as well. The dessert was also tasty, and I wish I could have eaten more of the delicious beef. Overall, I would love to visit again in the future!Cost: 16,000 yenRating: 4.5 stars5 stars: Definitely want to visit again!4 stars: Would revisit if given the chance.3 stars: Would consider revisiting.2 stars: Once is enough.1 star: Not worth visiting.

I want to go to the dinosaur exhibition in Ueno! H-mi is enthusiastic when I tell her about it. We quickly arrange tickets for the dinosaur exhibition online and decide on a lunch venue. The restaurant that a beautiful woman at work went to with her mother is definitely to H-mi's liking. Of course, it should be to my liking as well. When I send the information, she immediately jumps at the opportunity! Just as I expected. We make a reservation online and head to Ginza from Shinbashi on the day of the exhibition at 11:30. The restaurant is called "Kakiyasu Ginza Store," located 5 minutes on foot from Ginza Station and 7.8 minutes from Shinbashi, on the 7th floor of GINZA CUBE. When the elevator doors open, we are already on the Kakiyasu floor. We give our reservation name and are escorted to a spacious private room with a relaxed table. It feels luxurious! We are offered tea, but also drinks if we'd like, and we both opt for draft beer. The Sapporo Shirahonoka beer arrives promptly and it looks beautiful and finely crafted. We are both amazed by its appearance and the fine bubbles. We toast and drink, enjoying the smoothness of the beer. We order the Black Wagyu 18-ingredient Sukiyaki set, a lunch exclusive. I had informed them about my allergies to shellfish, so my menu is slightly different. The first dish to arrive is the grated nagaimo yam noodles, a refreshing dish with a hint of yuzu. It looks cool and tastes refreshing. We are then served a variety of small dishes, as mentioned in the menu as 18 ingredients. Each dish is served in a different and unique bowl, making the presentation enjoyable. We start enjoying the dishes, and I comment on the amount of washing up that would be required for these individual plates. We then move on to the main dish, the Sukiyaki set, which is beautifully presented with colorful meat and vegetables. The meat is tender and sweet, and the broth is just right when mixed with raw egg. We enjoy the meal, and H-mi comments on not wanting to waste the remaining egg. After finishing the meal, we are served a beautiful green tea, followed by a fragrant roasted tea. The Sukiyaki set costs 4950 yen and the beer costs 1320 yen. It was a satisfying and luxurious lunch for us, the occasional indulgence of the less fortunate. Now, let's head to our favorite city, Ueno!

12:00 The visit was smooth as I had made a reservation ◎ The interior of the restaurant was beautiful ◎ The traditional Japanese atmosphere was nice ◎ It seemed like a good place to dine in a kimono or yukata ◎ Since it was a private room, I could eat without worrying about the surroundings ◎ I could store my belongings in the closet in the room, so I could enjoy without worrying about any smells. ☑︎ I had the Black Wagyu 18-vegetable sukiyaki set meal for 4950 yen (tax included) and it was a huge portion! It was nice to be able to try a variety of things little by little! I chose the cheapest black Wagyu sukiyaki, but it was delicious without any problems ◎ The restroom was also clean ◎ Everything was clean and the staff's service was polite ◎ It seems like a good place for entertaining as well ◎

A hidden gem of a luxurious Japanese afternoon tea stand that comes with the option to grill your own rice cakes! You can choose from four fillings for the rice cakes: cherry blossom paste, sweetened crushed edamame, savory sweet soy sauce, and black sesame. The savory items include Matsusaka beef roast beef, cherry shrimp galette, and Wagyu miso hot sandwich, among others. The tea selection includes my favorite Mighty Leaf. The sweets include cherry blossom pudding, cherry blossom chocolate, citrus cream cheese sauce, and candied cherry leaves. Also, cherry blossom chiffon cake, cherry blossom macaron, cherry blossom mochi, and berry tart. The meal items include cherry shrimp galette, cherry salmon marinated, Matsusaka beef roast beef, Wagyu miso hot sandwich, seasonal flower salad, strawberry parfait, and hand-grilled rice cakes with various fillings. Price: 7260 yen (tax and service charge included) Available from March 15 to May 31.

It's been a while since I had sukiyaki for lunch. The restaurant is located on the 7th floor of a building in Ginza 7-chome. The spacious and beautiful interior has many private rooms! We requested a private room this time, and there is no room charge, making it perfect for welcome or farewell parties and girls' gatherings. The afternoon tea with a Japanese twist seems to be very popular (I tried to make a reservation but couldn't get one). The main attraction this time was the course with 18 appetizers for 5,445 yen! <18 Appetizers> - Steamed scallops with turnips - Grilled cod with Sendai miso - Lemon simmered in soy sauce - Rolled egg with sea urchin - Simmered black beef - Deep-fried white fish - Yam with vinegar - Warm vegetable salad - Mayonnaise shrimp - Grilled radish with soy sauce - Warbler tofu with snow crab - Pickled cherry blossom sea bream - Simmered bamboo shoots with new seaweed - Roasted firefly squid - Steamed lily root with Tofu - Pickled baby cabbage - Sesame mashed taro - Cherry blossom mochi ◆ Sukiyaki with small pot, leeks, tofu, and shimeji mushrooms ◆ Rice ◆ Miso soup The appetizers were spectacular. Each dish was carefully crafted and had a gentle flavor. They used plenty of spring ingredients, giving a seasonal touch. The playful dish of mayonnaise shrimp with big prawns was also delightful. After enjoying the appetizers while chatting, we were already full! Then came the sukiyaki in a small pot. As expected of Kakiyasu, the meat was high quality and tender. There were plenty of leeks at the bottom. With the substantial appetizers, this amount of sukiyaki was just right! It was a very satisfying course!!! There is a call bell in the private room, so the service staff quickly come when called, making it a comfortable place to be.

I made a reservation for the Matsusaka beef sukiyaki set meal for lunch, priced at ¥6050 (tax included), and it was my first visit to the restaurant. The entrance to the restaurant seemed to be from a back street, and I initially got a bit lost before finding it. When the food was served, the staff kindly helped me put on the apron that was prepared on the table. The sukiyaki was delicious, with plenty of vegetables like shiitake mushrooms, burdock, onions, and chives. The ingredients absorbed the rich flavor of the broth well. Towards the end, the broth became a bit too strong, almost like a tsukudani, making the rice very appetizing (laughs). You can have extra rice if you want. The meat was also very tasty, but it was a bit difficult to cut due to the sinew, which was a bit disappointing. One drink and dessert are included in the set. I was pleased when they brought green tea with the dessert. The entrance of the restaurant had a three-dimensional "thank you" sign, which was lovely. The toilet paper in the restroom had a beautiful embossed pattern on it (laughs).

Black-haired Wagyu 18 dishes for ¥3850. The appearance is what really gets you excited! Various bite-sized dishes to enjoy! The chawanmushi is the most delicious I've ever had! A bit disappointed that there are a lot of fish dishes, but they do have sukiyaki. I really want to try some meat dishes. The sukiyaki is so tender and delicious! The flavor is a bit strong though. The restaurant is on the 7th floor of the building, but you can't go up from the main street. You have to go around to the back. Let's go from the Lion to the back alley!

It was so luxurious! I visited the autumn afternoon tea "Wa-Futa-Nuun-Tea" at the Kakiyasu Ginza store, which started on September 21st at a special trial price of 4980 yen. It was a great deal, with a nice balance of rice dishes and sweets. The Matsusaka beef was included as well. The rice balls came with four different sauces for grilling, which was a fun experience to enjoy with friends. The food stand included dishes like salted wagyu miso hot sandwich, crispy onion soup, fried rice ball, autumn leaf sea bream roll, bite-sized wagyu croquette, mini wagyu hamburger, and more. The dessert stand had grape parfait, sky pumpkin pudding, chocolate macaron, pear compote, roasted rice, chestnut Mont Blanc, fig tempura, and apple pie. There were also 12 varieties of Mighty Leaf brand drinks available for unlimited refills. I tried the Moroccan Mint Green Tea and Organic Emerald Matcha, both of which had a strong aroma and refreshing taste. The food in the tiered box was also generous, with items like sky pumpkin mousse, traditional Japanese bracken rice cake, roasted apple monaka, chestnut skin simmered, sweet potato yokan, kinako fried dough, salted ginkgo nut, roasted green tea, castella, salted Kyoto dashi roll sandwich, autumn horse mackerel temari sushi, and wagyu simmered in soy sauce. The special trial price of 4980 yen was a great deal considering the amazing variety and volume of food. It could even be used as a lunch option due to the generous portions.

Founded in the fourth year of the Meiji era in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, this restaurant specializes in premium Matsusaka beef prepared in various ways such as charcoal grilling, sukiyaki, and shabu-shabu. The Ginza branch offers a refined Japanese atmosphere with many private rooms. In September 2022, I enjoyed the weekday-exclusive "Japanese Afternoon Tea" which included homemade soft warabi mochi, macarons infused with Japanese essence, tofu ganache, and beef shigure-ni among other harmonious treats. The highlight was the choice of 12 selected teas to enjoy as much as you like. The set menu included a variety of desserts, savory dishes, and hand-grilled rice cakes with different sauces.

I was invited by my boss from a previous company to this restaurant for the first time. I don't often eat sukiyaki outside, and I know there are different styles like Kanto and Kansai. This one is Kanto style, right? They recommended different ways to eat each slice so that it wouldn't get boring, starting from the classic raw egg to eating it like a rolled omelette. I enjoyed every bite from start to finish. The restaurant has private rooms, so it seems like a good place for business entertainment as well.

I visited the restaurant for the 18-course Sukiyaki meal featuring Matsusaka beef, which I had been curious about. While the quality of each dish may not be outstanding, I enjoyed experiencing various flavors. The Matsusaka beef was a bit mild in taste for my liking, but it still had a smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture that was delicious. The restaurant was very quiet and not too crowded, allowing for a relaxing dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

I recommend using a private room for important entertaining occasions. I ordered the 5000 yen black wagyu sukiyaki course. It consisted of appetizers and about 120g of meat per person. The meat and vegetables were delicious, but I felt the portion was small. Considering the performance of cooking, it may be reasonable. Next time, I would like to try the Kakiyasu Gozen.

On this day, I invited my parents to Tokyo for lunch and a stroll in the park! Since it was Golden Week, many individual shops were closed, but this particular restaurant was open and we were able to make a reservation. The restaurant has a high-class atmosphere that matches its price range. The lunch consisted of various dishes served in small portions, which looked very stylish. They also offer a wide selection of drinks, from sake to wine. The sukiyaki was made with fatty and high-quality meat, giving it a luxurious feel. The only downside was the service, which could have been better. However, overall, I think it's a good restaurant with a luxurious atmosphere!

We only come if it's a reception. There were no mistakes. We left feeling good. The cost was as expected. The taste was perfect. It met our expectations, for better or worse. We had the luxurious course with grilled and shabu-shabu for 33,000 yen including tax. Our drinks included lemon sour, green tea highball, glass of red wine (Cabernet), non-alcoholic beer (Suntory), and sparkling water (Hildon). For two people, the total came to 79,255 yen including tax, around 39,600 yen per person. Thank you for the meal.

I made a reservation in advance and visited for lunch on a weekday. We had a private room so I couldn't tell how busy the restaurant was, but I could hear voices of other customers faintly when I stepped out into the hallway. This time, I ordered the "Black Wagyu Kuroge Washu Kakiyasu Gozen" for 4,290 yen. You can choose between sukiyaki or shabu-shabu for the meat, and I chose sukiyaki this time. The set includes a two-tiered box, chawanmushi, sukiyaki, rice (with red miso soup and pickles), and dessert. It was more filling than it looked, and I ended up leaving over half of the rice uneaten. The taste was overall delicious, and I think this price is a good deal.

The other day, I visited this restaurant for a business reception. The atmosphere is like a high-end sukiyaki and shabu-shabu restaurant in Ginza, perfect for entertaining clients. The service was great, with attentive waitresses taking care of everything. We had the shabu-shabu course, and both the sashimi and shabu-shabu were delicious. Overall, it's a bit pricey as expected in Ginza, but the food was really good. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

In Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, there is a traditional and historic long-established ryotei called "Kakiyasu Ginza-ten", founded in the fourth year of the Meiji era. I had a leisurely lunch in the spacious tatami room and enjoyed the "Kakiyasu Gozen" set meal, which includes Matsusaka beef, colorful appetizers, seasonal sashimi, and a drink. The meal includes 15 types of appetizers, seasonal sashimi, chawanmushi, sukiyaki with Matsusaka beef, rice, miso soup, pickles, and a dessert of warabi mochi and ice cream. As the cold season approaches, the hot sukiyaki is delicious.

Located facing Ginza Chuo Street, but be aware that there is only an elevator accessible from a side street. Upon exiting the elevator, you will see a splendid curtain at the entrance. I had made a reservation, so I was led to a large room where I took off my shoes before entering. The spacing between tables was perfect! On this day, I opted for the 5000 yen course, with the choice between Matsuzaka beef sukiyaki or shabu-shabu. I chose shabu-shabu for the lunch course. The appetizer was a two-tiered box filled with various small dishes - around 15 in total. From sashimi to tempura, everything was delicious and filling! By the time I finished, the sukiyaki was ready to eat with the meat already cooked. For shabu-shabu, the vegetables and meat were served separately with ponzu and sesame sauce. Three slices of meat for shabu-shabu and two for sukiyaki. The meat was tender and flavorful, making the meal a delightful experience. The combination with rice was perfect. As it was a lunch set with limited time, they made sure to finish on schedule, which was greatly appreciated. Check out my Instagram for more lunch recommendations around Yurakucho, Ginza, and Shinbashi. Enjoy!

I was treated to a meal at the main store of Kakiyasu in Ginza, which is located in Mie Prefecture. This time, I had shabu-shabu. They can adjust the thickness of the meat upon request. Thicker slices of meat provide a satisfying chewing experience. However, regular thickness for shabu-shabu might have been just as good. We had a good laugh about it.

I chose the 18-ingredient sukiyaki set from Kakiyasu-san, who believes in providing nourishment to help you work hard. The sight of this meal is wonderful, with each item carefully prepared. It seems like there are about 50 different ingredients used, including seafood, vegetables, and Wagyu beef, making it enjoyable. While enjoying this, the sukiyaki cooks slowly, making the experience smooth. The Sakura simmered black Wagyu beef was also delicious enough that maybe it didn't need to be Matsusaka beef. I sat at a 4-person table that had a nice view of the sunlight coming in from Chuo Street, for ¥4950 including tax. Even the 18-ingredient seasonal lunch without sukiyaki for ¥3080 including tax seems like it would be satisfying.

As usual, I ended up ordering the grilled dish. The Matsusaka beef, served on a golden plate, is dipped in a special soy sauce-based sauce and grilled on the net. It's so tender that you can cut it with chopsticks, and it's not too fatty, so you can eat as much as you want. It comes with grated daikon radish and finely chopped onions as condiments, and I particularly like the onions for their crunchy texture and subtle kick. At Kakiyasu, they have a pot-keeping system, so no matter which store you go to, a pot is always waiting for you, which is fantastic. It's perfect for entertaining clients. I have my own pot, but the grilled dish is so delicious that I always end up leaving without ordering sukiyaki. I promise myself to try sukiyaki next time as I leave the restaurant.
