Company nearby lunch series #126. Today, I decided to have lunch at Ryuo, a slightly stylish Chinese izakaya near the office. The restaurant is located just a short walk east of Akihabara Station, across Showa Street, under a guardrail, with a sign featuring a dragon and the words "Ryuo" in shogi pieces, making it stand out. Inside, there were decorations like Tanabata streamers, giving it a slightly Chinese-style pub atmosphere, with only table seating available. I arrived just after the 11:30 am opening, being the first customer. By the time I finished eating, two more groups had come in. There was only one waiter in the dining area and two chefs in the kitchen, and they were all friendly and provided good service. I ordered the Ryuo Black Fried Rice, which arrived in about 5-6 minutes. While the restaurant specializes in dumplings, I opted for their famous black fried rice. Before the fried rice arrived, I had a small dish and self-serve soup, which had large pieces of chicken, daikon, and green onions in a salty broth, a perfect appetizer. The main dish, the fried rice, had a slightly blackish color, with ground meat and green onions mixed in, and a raw egg yolk in the middle. Mixing it all together, the seasoning was a bit strong, but when mixed with the egg yolk, it became smooth and had a unique fried rice flavor. Lunchtime offers include rice, soup, and a small dish for orders over 598 yen, and they also sell bento boxes for takeout and dine-in. They have a variety of dumplings and drinks, making it a place I would like to visit for drinks in the evening.
