I was taken to this restaurant by a friend! It was packed with regular customers and very lively! The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and comfortable. The dishes are all homely but seasoned perfectly! It feels like the kind of place you'd want to come to every day. The simmered taro was delicious with just the right amount of seasoning, and it goes well with drinks. The egg porridge with yuzu seasoning is also a favorite of mine! I want to try other dishes as well, so I definitely want to visit this restaurant again.

In Azabu-Juban, a stylish and delicious area, there is a favorite restaurant called Takeyama. You can enjoy delicious home-cooked meals without any pretense. On this day, I had grilled beef intestines, grilled shiitake mushrooms, salt-grilled local chicken, sweet rolled omelette, oyster vinegar, simmered taro, and scallop tempura. The variety of alcohol is also abundant, and if the restaurant is not too busy, they are willing to accommodate even unreasonable orders. On this day, I had milk shochu with milk, which was surprisingly easy to drink but potentially dangerous. Everything I ate was delicious, so the restaurant is always bustling with regular customers who come in regularly.

Clear skies one moment, rain the next at Azabu-Juban, for a pre-meeting drink. Went to an izakaya near the park. Sat at a table near the entrance, with a counter further in the back. Got a seat at the very end of the counter. The whiteboard was full of today's menu, with a high focus on seafood. Really good vibe.
☆Drink: Shochu highball with oolong highball, a bit strong maybe?
☆Appetizer: Grilled mackerel head. At first, a large portion was served, so I was surprised and asked for it to be reduced. Especially the big head part, I returned it. Soft. Strong fishy smell, maybe from the bloodline? Skin crispy. End tender. The soup was also good. Asked and found out they cook it with dashi and salt.
☆Dish: Kohada vinegar-marinated. I really like kohada for some reason. However, each piece looks thick and large. Maybe it's just half a body? Good balance of vinegar. Served with wasabi, grated ginger, wakame, and pickled ginger. Double ginger. The grated ginger was unexpected, but it goes well. Pickled ginger also goes well, but that's probably because there's ginger in the kohada roll.

I was taken to a popular restaurant in Asakusa by a friend who loves food. She has a great taste in food, similar to mine, so I trusted her choices. We made a reservation on the spot because all the other seats were already taken. It's a popular place. We ordered the chef's recommendations as my friend was very hungry. All the dishes were generously portioned and reasonably priced. I understand why it's so popular. The bill was also very affordable. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I always had the impression that this shop is always crowded with the counter seats full, so it wasn't really in my options. But when I went in, I noticed there were table seats on the left side. I decided to jump into one of those table seats near the last order time! The appetizer was a big sazae (horned turban) shell, marinated well and perfect as a drinking snack! At the request of my eggplant-loving companion, we ordered the deep-fried eggplant. The plenty of mitsuba (Japanese wild parsley) generously sprinkled between the deep-fried eggplant and soaked in dashi broth was refreshing. The dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelette) wiggles and shakes so much that it makes you want to take a video. When you cut it, the dashi broth oozes out so much from the cross-section that it's completely soaked in dashi! The grilled pig's feet, with the crispy parts being my favorite, were a must-try menu item with its mountainous portion size. Even if your hands get messy, you won't leave any bits behind and chew on it thoroughly. Seeing the variety of seasonal fish lined up on the whiteboard for today's recommendations, I realized that this is a good restaurant. Next time, I want to focus on the fish dishes. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Sometimes, I decided to explore a new place in the neighborhood that I was aware of but had never visited before. The restaurant had a typical izakaya appearance and always seemed to be filled with regular customers, which made me hesitate to go in. We started with a toast with a large beer mug, which was surprisingly priced at 600 yen for its size. The appetizer was not the usual type, but rather a carefully prepared dish of chicken and daikon cooked together. It was gentle and flavorful. The dashimaki tamago (rolled omelette) had an abundance of dashi broth, making it incredibly soft and delicious. The owner, an older man, cooked with a motherly touch. The grilled pork feet were both fatty and crispy, bursting with flavor. Despite single-handedly serving nearly 10 customers, the owner maintained a smooth and efficient pace in the kitchen. The chicken breast with plum and shiso leaf was refreshing and satisfying. The sake selection was extensive and reasonably priced, leading me to indulge in four servings. The lamb stir-fry was a standout dish, with generous portions of meat and vegetables seasoned to perfection. The deep-fried tofu came with plenty of garnishes, exuding a homely and comforting taste. We ended the meal with a spicy rice ball with Japanese pepper and scallops, which had a unique and addictive flavor. I ended up staying until closing time, thoroughly enjoying the cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Overall, it was a great izakaya with tasty dishes at reasonable prices. The only downside was the high smoking rate, but that's to be expected in an izakaya. Perfect for a casual night out with friends.

It would be perfect if it weren't for smoking, and the rolled omelette is definitely impossible to pick up with chopsticks.

Despite having visited more than 20 times, I have only posted twice... The casual and easy-going atmosphere of Azabu-Juban, where you can drop by anytime, is rare for a bar. I dropped by again today.

I entered the store with trepidation because I couldn't see inside. They have a wide variety of shochu and a large menu with delicious options. It seems like it could become a precious restaurant in the area.

I had always been curious about this place as I passed by, but it always seemed to be full, making it hard to approach. During the day, the shutter is down, so probably no one notices it. I only found out the official name after entering, "Takeyama." Today's recommendation was handwritten on the whiteboard. They had a wide variety of menu items, truly a great izakaya! The appetizer was a nice touch. I ordered a rare milk shochu. The chicken cartilage with seven spices was huge! The rolled omelette was also big, although a bit watery. The first place focused on my favorite dishes, so for the second place, we went with Doraemon's request for ear cartilage and Takeyama salad, both very generous portions. I wish they were a bit less salty though. The grilled pig's feet were devoured by Doraemon in no time. We ate a lot. Oh, and even though the website says they accept cards, they didn't at that time. After saving some at the first place, I felt a bit sick from the salty and heavy food at the second place, so we headed to the third place!

This was my first time visiting. I had been curious for a while. When I entered, I found a very homely atmosphere. There were friendly women serving and a cute master with a smile. I ordered: - Fresh octopus sashimi - Seared mackerel sashimi - Grilled bamboo shoot - Grilled chicken with plum and shiso leaf - Bamboo shoot salad I drank: - Beer - Cold sake (from Takasago, Shizuoka) All the dishes were delicious and generous in portion. The grilled bamboo shoot and mackerel made me feel like spring. The sashimi was fresh, and the chicken was tender and tasty. The salad, which I heard was good, was indeed delicious! (It was just normal, but the dressing was also good) I would be happy if they added more pure rice sake to the drink menu. They had a good selection of shochu though. I will definitely go back! I feel like I could even go alone. *Visited again. There was a bit of variation in taste... It was delicious but the initial excitement has decreased so... I lowered my rating...

Hidden gem in Asakusa, revisiting Takeyama♪ This restaurant offers delicious food and drinks, creating a cozy atmosphere with great service and tasteful dishes. It's like a high-quality izakaya. We enjoyed many delicious dishes this time as well♪ The first dish was a miso dip with negi, which was very tasty without any unpleasant smell. The fried satoyama was like a croquette, very tasty and fluffy. The yellowtail carpaccio had a perfect balance of acidity in the sauce and the fish was firm and fresh. I love horse mackerel, and they even prepared the head for me as tempura, which was amazing! The juicy fried chicken and dashimaki tamago (rolled omelette) are must-order items. The assorted pickles were also delicious and reasonably priced. This restaurant is still the best!

The restaurant is located in a narrow alley that leads off from Zasshoku Street in Azabu Juban. It fills up quickly with locals from early hours. The long counter is a great place to start slowly with drinks. The regular customers are many, but newcomers are also welcome. The prices are reasonable for the delicious Japanese dishes and drinks they offer. They start with the popular Takesan salad. You can enjoy fresh and affordable fish, like saury at the moment. The sashimi is also delicious. They have various Japanese dishes besides fish. The steak is also tasty! Time flies by as you enjoy the lively atmosphere at the counter. Check out their blog too! In May 2011, I finally decided to try this restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. I was in the mood for izakaya food, so I was torn between Yamachu and Komato, but I decided to go with this new place. The restaurant is centered around the counter, so it's easy to come in alone. And the verdict? I was completely blown away. The food was delicious. The horse mackerel namero was served with seaweed, and when I rolled it up with cucumber, ginger, and ate it, it was amazing. The grilled rainbow trout with salt was served with a tasty pickled plum. The idea of eating grilled fish with pickled plum was quite unique. The simmered taro was delicious, with finely chopped duck fat adding a nice accent. The portions were all generous, so I left feeling very satisfied.

During a stay abroad, I was tired of the bland food and longed for some sashimi that I could enjoy without worry. I stumbled upon information about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Upon entering, I couldn't find a sign with the restaurant's name, which made me a bit anxious. The place was small with only one table and a counter, and there was an old-school analog TV in the back creating a cozy atmosphere. The menu seemed to focus on shochu and sake. I started with a draft beer, which was smooth and delicious. The sashimi, starting with red snapper, was fresh and well-prepared, although not at the level of a high-end restaurant. I also tried the grilled beef liver, which was average in taste. I then enjoyed a few different types of brown sugar shochu, all of which were quite tasty. I might have ordered one more dish along with several more glasses of shochu, and the total bill came to around 5000 yen. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. This restaurant is not only about the food but also about the friendly atmosphere where locals gather and enjoy. I felt relaxed and content as I headed home, feeling that this was a great place to visit.
