On June 15, 2012, I visited the "Asakusa Herbal Liquor Bar" located on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building on Kaminarimon Street in Asakusa. As the name suggests, this shop specializes in homemade herbal liquors and liqueurs. Contrary to the image of bitter herbal liquor, the drinks here were very easy to drink. The menu featured a variety of herbal liquors including wolfberry, turmeric, lotus seed, mulberry, yokuinin, keihi, aconite, lily root, safflower, perilla, sansho pepper, prickly ash, ginger, garlic, and ginseng. I tried the lotus seed and lily root, as well as the wolfberry & raspberry soda. The lotus seed had a gentle flavor and mild sweetness, perfect on the rocks. The lily root had a subtle taste, almost flavorless, and was better mixed with tonic or ginger ale. The wolfberry & raspberry soda had a sweet and sour taste, appealing to female customers. The food menu mainly consisted of snack items, but was not particularly extensive. The interior had a stylish design with orange-red walls, making it a good spot for a date. However, being on the 3rd floor of an old building with narrow and steep stairs, there was a sense of danger. Overall, despite some operational improvements needed, I look forward to the growth of this establishment.
