I visited the Ginza branch of the renowned Kyoto cuisine restaurant "Shimogamo Saryo". The restaurant is located on the 11th floor of Tokyu Plaza Ginza and has a sophisticated atmosphere. I was guided to a splendid counter seat at the back, as the other customers that day seemed to be using private rooms. I was able to have the counter seat all to myself! The "Hon Kaiseki" course for the day consisted of the following dishes: 1) Three kinds of appetizers 2) Soup (steamed in a pot) 3) Side dish (marinated sea bream, tuna from Miyazaki Prefecture) 4) Grilled dish (grilled young mackerel from Wakasa) 5) Eight side dishes (simmered sweetfish, fresh ginkgo nuts) 6) Simmered dish (simmered conger eel roe, sesame gluten in Dutch sauce) 7) Meal (rice cooked with various ingredients, clear soup, pickles) 8) Water fruit, dessert 9) Matcha (green tea) I also had three glasses of wine. The dishes were made with seasonal ingredients, each having a stable and delicious taste. The wine pairing was also good! Most importantly, having the place to myself and enjoying Kyoto kaiseki cuisine made me very satisfied! It's a great restaurant!

Enjoyed Kyoto cuisine in a calm and serene atmosphere. Appetizer: Sesame tofu with red beans, Soup: Clear soup with shrimp and yam, Sashimi: Marinated sea bream with seaweed jelly, Assorted dishes: Sweetfish, water shield and taro, duck, simmered octopus, Side dish: Grilled eel and Kyoto green onion rice, miso soup with seaweed, Dessert: Matcha terrine, peach jelly, After-meal tea: Matcha. The seasonal flavors and the chef's skills and emotions were conveyed through the dishes. I enjoyed the deliciousness of early summer. Thank you for the feast.

The Shozan Room in Kyoto is a nostalgic restaurant where we had a family event. When we heard that they opened a branch in Tokyo, we decided to celebrate there as a family. The atmosphere, hospitality, and the chef's enthusiasm were all great. The food was undeniably delicious. We would love to visit again for another celebration.

I was guided to a private room for a kaiseki meal. It was a bit nerve-wracking but also felt like a special treat. The path to the private room was filled with the scent of sandalwood incense. The hospitality at high-end restaurants is amazing. I felt hesitant to take photos of the food, but I managed to capture some dishes. Each dish highlighted the flavors of the ingredients, especially the crab soup which had a clear crab flavor. The red clam and flounder sashimi were served with different dipping sauces, adding to the experience. I was in a private room called "hanare," but they also have a more affordable counter seat area called "nomae." I might try dining at "nomae" for a more casual experience next time.

This is a branch restaurant of the long-established Kyoto ryotei, Shokado, which has been owned by Kaundo Koyama for a long time. The restaurant's design, atmosphere, and customer service are excellent. I had the lunch "Sea bream head cooked rice set". It has a light flavor, typical of "obanzai". It feels like a refined home-cooked meal. I particularly liked the sesame tofu.

Located discreetly in the back of Ginza's "Nomae", the store maintains the brand of Shimogamo Saryo. All the dishes served are exceptional. Not only delicious, but also visually stunning, making it perfect for special occasions or business meetings. The variety of alcohol available is extensive, with top-notch wines, sake, and shochu. The food, drinks, and service are all top-notch. This restaurant is truly a model of excellence.

I used it for a reception. It is located in Ginza, inside Tokyu Plaza. Since it is Sukiyabashi, it is a convenient location. I reserved a private room. It was a very nice space. At first, there were appetizers such as three types of appetizers, grilled eggplant with sea urchin and soft-shelled turtle sauce, salted salmon roe, white cucumber and Kyoho grapes with sesame and white vinegar dressing, which were very delicious. Then there was a soup dish with steamed tilefish, matsutake mushrooms, mitsuba and marinated sea bream with chrysanthemum salad, tuna with vinegar, and an octopus dish with sweetened ayu fish, fresh ginkgo nuts from the mountains, simmered lotus root, steamed lotus seeds, lotus root, scallop and soft-shelled turtle sauce, and snap peas. For the main course, there was mixed rice with matsutake mushrooms and locally raised chicken, and a clear soup with a side dish. For dessert, there were water fruits, sweetened azuki beans, and homemade daifuku. It ended with matcha tea. The food was also wonderful, and the service was just amazing. Thank you for the very warm and welcoming service.

At the end of May, I had made a reservation a few days prior for a late lunch at the Ginza branch of "Shimogamo Saryo" called "Shimogamo Saryo Higashi no Hanare". We were seated at the counter, and because it was a slightly late time at 1 pm, there were only two of us as customers. I had pre-ordered the "Hiru Kaiseki (¥9680 including tax, plus a service charge of +10%)" meal. I started with a draft beer (YEBISU beer, ¥900 including tax) to quench my thirst before the meal. The dishes included: [Appetizer] Abalone and Princess Bamboo, [Soup] Kudzu Eel and Tsunana, [Sashimi] Marbled Sole, [Assorted Appetizers] Seasonal assorted appetizers, [Grilled Dish] Grilled Ayu, [Simmered Dish] Herring and Eggplant, [Rice Dish] Anago rice cooked in a pot, [Dessert] Kiwi and Strawberry Jelly, and [Matcha Cocoa Yokan and Usucha] Matcha yokan and green tea. Overall, I found the lunch to be satisfying, with a good balance of flavors and a luxurious feel that left me feeling fulfilled and ready to tackle the rest of the day's work. A single beer wouldn't hinder a business meeting, so it's a great option for a satisfying lunch.

They recently opened a branch called "Higashi no Hanare" at Tokyu Plaza in Ginza. The restaurant offers private rooms, but the counter seats overlooking the outside view are particularly charming. They also have a great selection of Japanese sake. The "Charyo Bon" course for 3,080 yen allows you to enjoy a variety of Shimogamo Charyo's kaiseki dishes. The course includes various dishes such as snapper, mountain peach, lotus root tofu, and more. The dishes are characterized by a refreshing taste with a strong umami flavor from the dashi broth, showcasing the true essence of Japanese cuisine. Despite its lightness, the dishes are delicious. The variety and quality of the menu at this price point offer a high level of satisfaction. Since the cuisine is vegetable-centric, it is also good for your health. I have always loved Kyoto and have visited local traditional restaurants there before, but this place truly captures the gentle flavors and local cuisine of Kyoto, making you feel like you are actually there. The service is very polite, with just the right amount of friendliness and attentiveness. I believe the quality of this restaurant surpasses that of the dining options on the 10th floor, offering great value for the price. They also have non-alcoholic drinks, making it a wonderful place to relax and unwind. I definitely want to visit this lovely restaurant again!

I celebrated a birthday that had been postponed due to the pandemic. We had a private room just for our family, so we could enjoy our meal with peace of mind. The kaiseki cuisine was both visually appealing and delicious. It wasn't a tatami room, so our feet didn't get tired, and they even prepared a birthday plate for us. Thank you very much. On our way home, we also bought some delicious kelp furikake. It's addictively good!

The dashi rolled egg with yuba was delicious, with layers so thin they seemed to stack up to a thousand. The sashimi was decent, and the shirauo tempura was also pretty good. The main dish, the turtle shell ramen, had a rich and soft soup with plenty of medicinal herbs. It was so good that it didn't make my throat dry afterwards, showing that it's made with quality ingredients.

There was a restaurant with a curtain hanging at the entrance on the 11th floor, a 5-minute walk from the station. We were seated at the counter at the back. It was quite empty at this time of year, so we could enjoy our meal slowly and feel at ease. Everything was wonderful, especially the Lily Root mixed rice at the end.

Eating out too often is not good in terms of calories and nutrition, so it's always a struggle to resist. However, trying takeout during a state of emergency turned out to be surprisingly interesting. It's fascinating to see a different side of the restaurant that I've never experienced before. As a result, I have become hooked and now find myself getting takeout not only on weekends but also on weekdays. This restaurant is "Higashi no Hanare," a branch of the Kyoto traditional cuisine restaurant "Shimogamo Saryo," which has been operating since 1856. I picked up a bento box that I had reserved the day before, and the Tokyu Ginza building was eerily quiet with very few people around. The "at-home Shimogamo Saryo" bento box (for 2 people) cost 10,000 yen and included a variety of beautifully presented and delicious dishes. It was much more elaborate than the Michelin-starred Japanese bento box I had before, allowing me to savor many different dishes in small portions. It was a satisfying experience. I hope that restaurants like this can overcome the current situation and continue to thrive. I highly recommend it!

You can enjoy your meal while looking out at the streets of Ginza from the window. They have a variety of sake available, so you can also enjoy some drinks (*´ω`*)
