Ikebukuro Station West Exit, right in front of the street! The oysters are delicious and the Miyamae Gyoza is also tasty! They have a wide variety of alcohol, like salt lemon highball and sake! The kimchi portion was quite generous, enough to share among 4 people!

After working on my day off, I headed to Ikebukuro. I went to see the manager I used to love during my part-time job, but he was unexpectedly hungover. He suggested we go for a daytime drink, so we went together. We had: - Salmon belly sashimi, which was delicious with its fatty texture - Assorted oden with daikon, very tasty even though we forgot to add the powder - Fisherman's buttered potatoes, surprisingly good even though I don't usually eat potatoes - Assorted sashimi platter with thick slices that were satisfying and delicious - Beef liver sashimi, surprisingly tasty with shiso - Oyster fry, with plump oysters that were delicious - Crab cream croquette, I ordered it on impulse because I was so hungry, but it was delicious. It's convenient that you can drink and smoke in the daytime. Thank you for the meal!

[Ikebukuro Exploration Adventure Part 54] For the second visit to Ikebukuro in the new year, the planned shop was unexpectedly closed. After wandering around the town looking for other options, we stumbled upon "Dai-Ryo Ichiba Uomatsu." It was around 5:00 PM and the place was about 80% full, showing its popularity. The staff were energetic and the female floor staff were attentive. We ordered the following: [Menu] - Hoppy Set x2: 420 yen each - Hoppy Naka x7: 210 yen each - Otoshi x2: 350 yen each - Assorted Sashimi (3 types) 1,188 yen - Shizuoka Specialty "Tear Sushi" 290 yen - Mapo Eggplant with Spicy Miso Stir-Fry 580 yen - Whole Grilled Horse Mackerel 480 yen - Extra Large Fatty Mackerel Half 700 yen We started with Hoppy instead of beer, cheers to a hard day's work! Today's Hoppy was a dark one, very good! The Assorted Sashimi with bluefin tuna, yellowtail, and octopus was thick and flavorful. The "Tear Sushi" with grated wasabi made us shed tears from its spiciness. The Mapo Eggplant was unexpectedly delicious. The Whole Grilled Horse Mackerel had a crispy texture and rich flavor. The Extra Large Fatty Mackerel was huge and delicious. Our favorite was the Extra Large Fatty Mackerel for its size, price, and flavor. Overall rating: 3.6. Thank you for the delicious meal, Ikebukuro! Next time, we'll try the Oden!

Shizuoka oden is also popular at the restaurant "Uomasa" near Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Koban. There is a branch called "Masuya" on the first floor, so be sure to confirm if you are meeting on the "2nd floor" of the restaurant. The staircase seems a bit difficult to climb, and I secretly slipped and fell on the way up (* /∀\*). The interior of the restaurant has counter seats and table seats, and it was quite crowded around 7:30 pm on weekdays. The appetizer (380 yen) was a chicken breast and sticky dish, which is always nice to have. The dishes we ordered for three people were as follows (including tax): ✦ Crispy grated yam pickles 308 yen ✦ Seafood salad 748 yen ✦ Raw kimchi 528 yen ✦ Beef tendon simmered in salt 528 yen ✦ Hamamatsu dumplings (8 pieces) 726 yen ✦ Crispy cheese tempura 396 yen ✦ Adult potato fries 451 yen ✦ Ume suisho 528 yen The most delicious dish was the beef tendon simmered in salt. The adult potato fries were a bit salty due to the bonito and sake lees sprinkled on top. The service was a bit slow. Unfortunately, the dumplings and potato fries were lukewarm. Although I presented a 10% off coupon from Tabelog at the time of entry, it was not reflected in the bill, so I had to point it out and correct it myself. Thank you for the meal ☆

Recently, I went for a day drinking session with a really exciting friend. When I suggested a few places to go, they said this place is good, so we went there. But when we arrived, they weren't there and I was like "Where are they?" Turns out, they had mistakenly gone next door to Masuya. After drinking a bit and feeling hot, we decided to move next door to the original place. For some reason, I haven't had much appetite lately, so I only ate the crab miso here. The atmosphere was nice and as long as I can drink, it's all good. Thanks for the meal!

I searched for a place to drink in Ikebukuro and decided to visit a place with a sign that said "All-you-can-drink for 1000 yen". It was Friday night, so the place was full. Luckily, we managed to get two seats at the counter. We ordered a sashimi platter (5 pieces for 2 people for 1300 yen), fried oysters (around 600 yen), and beef tataki (around 600 yen). The beef tataki portion was a bit small, probably because they focus more on seafood. The sashimi platter was satisfying for the price, especially the tuna was delicious. The fried oysters were a bit small, and it would have been nice to have tartar sauce with them. The service was a bit slow due to the crowded restaurant and limited staff, but considering we only paid 5000 yen for two people, I can't complain. There are several budget seafood izakayas in this area, but this one is smaller and more affordable. It's a good option for those who want to drink more than eat. Thank you for the meal.

Day 3 of the second half of Golden Week. Looking for a bar where you can smoke cigarettes, I stumbled upon a place where a lady was standing at the entrance, so I decided to go in on a whim. The horse mackerel sashimi was delicious, so we ended up ordering a second plate. The low-temperature cooked beef liver was also tasty. We also tried the spicy changja with whelk, which surprisingly was good. The Shizuoka-style oden assortment had a unique taste, not too salty. Thank you for the meal!

A standing bar located near the west exit of Ikebukuro. I use it quite frequently. A hot sake and assorted oden, and karaage are enough to satisfy. The oden selection is right in front of you, and the prices are reasonable, so it's easy to stop by. Thank you for the meal!

I discovered this restaurant when a friend mentioned wanting to have oden and sake. I have been to many places in Ikebukuro, but I never knew there was a restaurant that serves Shizuoka-style oden, and is heavily influenced by Shizuoka. We were seated at the counter, which was a bit cramped. However, it was convenient to have a place to put our belongings under the chair. The restaurant itself felt a bit small, and by 7:30 pm, it was already fully packed. We ordered a draft beer and classic dishes like Shizuoka oden and edamame. We also tried Hamamatsu gyoza and black hanpen, which are Shizuoka specialties. We enjoyed sake and sour drinks as we ate. Overall, we found the prices to be reasonable. I would definitely like to come back next time.

Located just a short walk from Ikebukuro West Exit and North Exit. I've lost count of how many times I've been here, but it's finally reopened so I visited after a long time. The Super Dry beer here is delicious. When I tried to order a single drink as soon as I entered the store, they said they had changed to requiring reservations the day before. I was about to go somewhere else, but they said it was okay if I ordered the all-you-can-drink course. So I went for that. The course included appetizers, sashimi, Shizuoka-style oden, homemade fried chicken, giant grilled mackerel, and sushi. The portions were generous and the flavors were delicious. I usually prefer single drinks, but I realized that the course was a better deal. The only downside is that the place is a bit small, but the young female staff members were all very friendly. I will definitely visit again.

Ikebukuro Station, just inside the North Exit West Entrance, on the second floor, there is a takeaway sample and lunch menu poster. On weekends, they open from 11 am, and the prices are the same as weekdays, which is a nice surprise. On Sunday, a little before 12 pm, I climbed the dedicated staircase and was greeted with a lovely smile, had my forehead temperature checked, and was guided to my favorite spot at the counter. Each counter has a transparent partition every two people, and there is a TV which is nice. The lunch menu at this izakaya offers 5 options with tax included: - Sashimi set meal 980 yen - Hamamatsu gyoza set meal 780 yen - Shizuoka oden set meal 780 yen - Shizuoka bowl (shirasu-don) 780 yen - Seafood chirashi-don 780 yen I ordered the sashimi set meal and was served with a beer mug filled with water, soy sauce, and a soy sauce dish. They also provided a plastic bag for masks. I placed my drink order after that, opting for water. It took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive, which felt quite long. - The sashimi set meal was served with warm rice in a small tea cup, miso soup with seaweed and green onions, and pickled vegetables. The sashimi platter included white fish, shrimp, and other types of sashimi. The rice was soft and tasty, and the miso soup had a salty izakaya flavor. - I also ordered the Shizuoka oden, which came with black hanpen and daikon. The hanpen had a light dashi flavor and paired well with the grated bonito flakes. The daikon was thick and salty, and the oden broth was quite salty and lacked depth. Adding the bonito flakes made it more flavorful. Overall, the sashimi set meal was satisfying, but it felt like it needed an extra side dish. The lunch prices were tax-inclusive, but the ground menu items were taxed separately. The rice was a bit undercooked, but for an izakaya, the quality was good. The open kitchen and friendly staff wearing masks and speaking clearly added to the positive experience. The casual and bright atmosphere made it a pleasant place for daytime drinking.

Shizuoka Oden set meal and Kinme Daikai from Izu Inatori. This restaurant is currently open for lunch. I have visited this restaurant several times, but due to my age where I tend to forget the middle part of my drinking escapades, I was unable to write a review before. The atmosphere seems different during the daytime, and it can feel a bit embarrassing. I ordered the "Lunch Shizuoka Oden set meal" (780 yen) with the "Kinme Daikai" (968 yen) as shown in the photo. Growing up in a culture where I can eat white rice with okonomiyaki or yakisoba, I cannot eat white rice with oden. However, especially during this season, I feel like I want to eat it even during the day. Looking at the menu for something to go with rice, I noticed the reasonably priced Kinme Daikai. Even if it's from New Zealand, once processed in Inatori, Izu, it can cost around a thousand or two thousand yen. I have enjoyed similar transformations with Norwegian horse mackerel processed in Numazu. Personally, I prefer the "Bansuke" from Iwaki, Fukushima the most. Regardless, I think Japan's dried fish processing technology is amazing. The Kinme Daikai was good, both grilled and as is. It's a slightly thin but flavorful dried fish with minimal salt content. It goes well with white rice. The Shizuoka oden was well-prepared. The radish and other ingredients release so much liquid that it almost feels like they got the osmotic pressure wrong. The black hanpen was also good. There were too many items that needed to be eaten while hot, so the meal ended up being a bit messy, but I think I enjoyed it as a meal on the spot. Satisfied. Thank you for the meal. Lately, I have been posting photos of grilled fish or dried fish after eating, but for some reason, they often end up as the featured photo of the restaurant, so I keep posting them out of curiosity. I apologize to anyone who may find it unpleasant. The staff at this restaurant always have a cheerful atmosphere. The service is polite and bright, creating a pleasant feeling. This time too, they came out to see me off outside the restaurant after the meal. (By Kyonatsu Shukuu, 2021.1.29) (25 reviews/3.23)

Three minutes from Ikebukuro West Exit. I usually pass by but end up going to other shops. It's on the second floor next to Ikebukuro West Exit Kenta. The menu is posted on the first floor. Climbing the stairs to the entrance, there is temperature check and alcohol disinfection. It's quite crowded in the early afternoon. The table seats and counter are separated by transparent partitions. Although social distancing is not fully implemented, the partitions are good. I ordered a single item all-you-can-drink at the counter (90 minutes, 1280 yen). The Super Dry all-you-can-drink in a chilled glass is delicious. I had six glasses even though it was a bit cold outside. I also had Hakkaisan (special honjozo) that other customers were drinking, showing good turnover. The Shizuoka tea with a refreshing taste was good. The pre-made macaroni was decent. The Shizuoka oden with four items (490 yen) - satsuma-age, egg, konjac, daikon, served with dashi powder. Despite the black soup, it had a light taste. The crunchy yam pickles soaked in dashi were tasty. I recommend the horse meat sashimi, although it was a bit lacking in flavor due to being frozen. The yakitori (probably grilled at a sister shop on the first floor) - tsukune (150 yen), sunagimo (120 yen), tori Harami (120 yen), and Kanpachi kama yaki (500 yen) with delicious fatty meat. I was able to drink plenty and the young female staff were friendly. I will visit again.

The location near the station is very convenient! The staff are friendly and the service is great. The crab miso shell grill is a must-try for those who enjoy drinking. It comes on a mini grill, so you can enjoy it hot and sizzling. The grilled aroma is irresistible!

Tsukemen for ¥780 with free extra noodles. Basically, it's like the ramen you'd find at a typical izakaya, but if you dip the chashu in the broth, the fat melts and it tastes really good. It's not much different from a regular ramen shop. Personally, I wish it came with nori.

This is the second restaurant of the day! We wandered around looking for a place to enter, strolling down Romance Street and such. After being turned away from many full restaurants, we finally found one! It was just before 11:30, but the inside of the restaurant was quite lively! The place smelled strongly of a fish market, as the name suggests it's a seafood-focused restaurant! We each ordered a drink, and since we were already full, we didn't eat much. Here are the dishes we ordered: - Crispy Pickled Yam 400 yen - Grilled Crab Miso in Shell 680 yen - Pencil Spring Rolls x3 480 yen The spring rolls were so delicious that we ended up ordering three more! They were filled with a generous amount of shrimp and had a rich flavor that went perfectly with our drinks. The self-grilled crab miso in the shell was a fun experience, although the solid fuel used for heating burned quickly, so we had to be careful not to overcook it. The restaurant recommended Shizuoka-style oden and seafood, but we were too full to try them. If we come back, we'll definitely order them next time!

Tonight, I had a casual drinking party at an izakaya in Ikebukuro. It was a place we stumbled upon after work, as none of us were familiar with the area. The restaurant seemed to focus on Shizuoka's regional cuisine, with an emphasis on fish from Numazu Port. When it comes to Shizuoka cuisine, Shizuoka oden is a popular choice, so I was looking forward to trying it. We ordered a sashimi platter with bluefin tuna, yellowtail, and sweet shrimp, as well as Shizuoka oden with beef tendon, daikon radish, konjac, and black hanpen. We also tried the grilled black hanpen. The Shizuoka oden surprised me when it arrived - the broth was pitch black and each ingredient was skewered. A colleague who often travels to Shizuoka explained that this is a common style of oden in the region. The black hanpen, made from whole sardines and mackerel, was also unique to the area. The taste was different from what I was used to, with a stronger soy sauce flavor, but it complemented the ingredients well. The black hanpen had a texture more similar to fish balls than the fluffy white hanpen I was familiar with. Overall, it was a night of enjoying Shizuoka's local cuisine.

I made a reservation for Sunday night and used it for a long-awaited gathering with old friends. We started with draft beer and moved on to Hoppy shiro set, had quite a few drinks. The food started off slow but we ended up ordering more and more, enjoying sashimi, grilled fish, gyoza, oden, and various other dishes. The food was delicious, drinks were plentiful, and the service was not bad, just the spacing between tables was a bit tight. But it was a lively and enjoyable gathering. The only downside was that it was a bit pricey at 7,000 yen per person.
