It's a seafood restaurant. While looking for a place to have lunch, I came across a sign for "fresh seafood lunch" and decided to stop by. They boast about their freshness, so I ordered the Fresh Seafood Bowl for 1,000 yen and a Tokyo Highball for 450 yen, with an option to upgrade to a Mega Jug for an additional 250 yen. The Fresh Seafood Bowl can be enjoyed as ochazuke at the end, and you can ask the staff for some broth. The Tokyo Highball has a refreshing shiso flavor. The bowl comes with miso soup and a side dish. It includes shrimp, salmon, ikura, negitoro, tuna, and nori among other toppings. The fish pieces are large and melt-in-your-mouth. The miso soup is made with fish broth and has chunks of fish in it. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch experience.

Visited an izakaya in Okachimachi on a holiday. Ordered a ton of food and spent around 3500 yen per person. The photos show quail katsu, grilled cucumber with green onion miso, fried cartilage, and sashimi. In addition to these, we also had dashimaki tamago, mackerel takuan maki, and Caesar salad. Personally, I found this izakaya to be more approachable for those who don't drink much compared to regular izakayas in Okachimachi and Ueno.

I visited the restaurant on the second day of Golden Week, a little after 7 pm. The fish was fresh, especially the mackerel with sesame sauce is recommended. The potato salad was incredibly delicious! It was so good that it becomes addictive! It was a bit too salty though haha. I will definitely come back!

Overall, I think the food is delicious but the cost performance is not great. Dining alone costs around 3,400 yen. The assorted vegetables for the appetizer are colorful and the miso-style dipping sauce is amazing. The deep-fried tuna tail has a lingering fishy smell and doesn't go well with the salsa sauce. I think it would be better with ponzu sauce. The portion size of the raw fish dish is small. The suribachi (Japanese mortar) is interesting. The miso soup is important to me at izakayas. The temperature, ingredients, broth, and miso flavor are crucial for a tasty miso soup. If you compare it to the miso soup served at fast-food restaurants, it's disappointing to pay 280 yen for it.

I wanted to have a quiet drink, so I decided to check out the second floor of this restaurant. It was quite lively downstairs, but as planned, the second floor was calm and peaceful. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing! First things first, I ordered a Hoppy to cheers! The appetizer was a salad similar to a bagna cauda, with fresh and tasty vegetables. The fried stingray fin was a unique delicacy, similar to fried squid. The grilled bamboo ring with cucumber had a nice charred flavor. The adult-style potato salad was a hit! This place might be a hidden gem for a relaxed drink near the station. Thank you for the meal.

A year ago, I casually walked in and ordered the "kombu-wrapped skewers" without much thought. I couldn't forget the delicious taste and decided to revisit. It was just as delicious as I remembered, with a satisfying crispy texture that I can't get enough of. The batter may have been a bit thick though. When I tried to order more, they said, "We're already sold out for today." It was only 2 PM! Maybe they only make a limited amount for lunchtime? I'm glad I got to enjoy it just in time. The fried tuna was also delicious with a rich sauce. The plates were a bit dirty, so there may be some concerns about hygiene. Thank you for the meal! ^_^

We were looking for a place where we could all drink, and this was our fourth stop today. We were already feeling quite drunk and our stomachs were full, but we decided to go to the same fresh market in Okachimachi where we started. This branch is located closer to Okachimachi and we often passed by it, so we were curious to try it out. We ordered fresh beer, which was Maruef (yay!). The appetizer was grated yam. For snacks, we had various types of local fish sashimi, which I can't remember the names of anymore (haha). I remember it being delicious. Since they didn't have Imabari yakitori, we went for half a portion of chicken yamakazari. It was also delicious, but it was a bit too much for us after four consecutive stops. We were at our limit and had to call it a day. They also had enticing menu items like salt-grilled saury and Towada bara-yaki, so we might have to come back for another investigation next time. Overall, being able to drink Maruef was a big plus.

In this area, there are many izakayas, making it difficult to determine which one is good. I noticed that they serve dishes like fresh mackerel and fish sourced from Miura Port, so I decided to give it a try. The quality of the ingredients and dishes stood out from the others. I ordered the ultimate mackerel sashimi, Miura local fish carpaccio, authentic matcha highball, and Hokkaido highball. All the dishes were delicious.

The fresh seafood bowl costs 1000 yen, and the bonito plum sour costs 450 yen. The bonito plum sour didn't have much bonito flavor, more like snacking on bonito flakes. The bowl included tuna, salmon, negitoro, tamago, and sweet shrimp, but I don't remember if there was ikura. I ordered thinking it would end with ochazuke, but I ended up finishing it normally. I leisurely enjoyed the meal.

Weekday lunch ☆ Located in front of JR Okachimachi Station North Exit ~ on Okachimachi Station Street. I had tried to visit several times in the past but never made it. When I entered, the counter seats were available, but the table seats were almost full, with people enjoying lunchtime drinks. I chose the "Chef's Recommendation" - Fresh Seafood Bowl for 1,000 yen (tax included) with less rice. Although the menu looked delicious in the photo, there was a disclaimer saying that the photo is for illustration purposes only. And for the finishing touch, you can request a light dashi tea pickled rice at the end. I asked when would be the best time to request the dashi tea, and the staff said it's okay to ask when you have leftover rice or when you feel like it. The fresh seafood bowl that arrived was similar to the menu photo and looked delicious. The freshness was great and it tasted delicious. However, the rice was quite cold, almost like it had been cooled down intentionally. It's not sushi rice. I prefer it a bit warmer. The soup served was actually fish broth, which I'm not a big fan of, but it came with a small side dish as well. It was a bit chilly that day, and even the tea was cold, so it was nice to finish with warm dashi tea poured over the remaining rice. I asked for the dashi tea, and it came in a small pot. But to my surprise, it was cold. Perhaps to avoid heating up the fresh fish. It felt more like chilled soup. It might have been better on a warmer day. I'll visit again on a hot day next time ☆

I have been to this place at night before, but it was my first time visiting during the day. The lunch crowd was more prominent, but you can still enjoy drinks. I ordered the child-friendly kombu katsu on skewers for 480 yen, which was just as delicious as a certain fish skewer place that costs twice as much. I also chose the curry chijimi-style potato dish for 580 yen. As for drinks, I had a highball while my friend had a Kahlua milk drink, but the taste varied a lot. The restaurant has 6 table seats and 4 terrace seats, and smoking is not allowed.

I don't usually go bar hopping, but this time we ended up going to three different places. We drank a lot. One of our group passed out drunk, but the rest of us kept drinking. Since it was the last day of the New Year holiday, we made sure not to stay out too late and left Ueno. The highballs had three different levels of strength and were relatively affordable.

After leaving Haruko-ya, I stumbled upon a nice-looking restaurant on my way to the station! I was quickly drawn in. I was guided to a counter seat and ordered a Maruefu, which was served in no time, surprising me. And... there was a big TV on the side wall! And they were showing the Japan Series! What a great place, right?!
Ordered:
- Spicy Potato 450 yen: Crispy and goes really well with beer.
- Ginnan (Ginkgo nuts) 620 yen
- Okonomiyaki-style Yam Potato Grilled 580 yen: The yam flavor wasn't very noticeable, but it was delicious.
- Otoshi (appetizer) 380 yen
- Satsuma Bijin (sweet potato shochu) 420 yen
- Hakutenpouzan (shochu) 500 yen
- Draft Beer 390 yen
- Lemon Sour 350 yen
The food and drinks at this place are served very quickly. And the energy from the open kitchen staff is amazing! The atmosphere is very welcoming. As a result, I ended up watching the game until it was over. It was a fun second round!

I'm not sure where to go for drinks, but I heard Ueno has quite a few places that serve alcohol. I met up in Ueno with a friend and we wandered around. Oh, they have draft beer for 390 yen, let's go there.
1. We ordered 2 draft beers and cheers. It was delicious.
2. The appetizer is 380 yen each. It's not a bagna cauda, but it's similar with sesame sauce. It's healthy and I like it when they serve vegetables cut up as appetizers.
3. Tuna sashimi for 580 yen. It's quite fatty and delicious.
4. Skewered kombu with fish roe for 380 yen. I really like kombu with fish roe.
5. Grated yam croquette for 680 yen. Is this a cream croquette? It's good.
6. Black Nikka highball for 350 yen.
7. Draft beer for 390 yen.
8. Extra cold beer for 390 yen.
9. The usual lemon sour for 350 yen, it's delicious.
10. After this, we only had drinks without ordering more food.
11. The usual lemon sour.
12. Black Nikka highball.
13. Black Nikka highball.
14. The usual lemon sour.
15. Gari Chuu for 390 yen.
16. Tomato sour for 390 yen.
It's like that, we each had 6 drinks, a total of 12 drinks. I'm not good with alcohol, so I remember feeling a bit tipsy. I remember it being delicious and I like that they serve alcohol.

Today, I decided to try the lunch special of the restaurant, which offers the Honmaguro Tekkadon at half price on Mondays. Upon arrival, I found that the amount of tuna in the dish was significantly less than what was advertised, which was disappointing. The dish included 7 pieces of seared and fatty tuna, instead of the 10 pieces shown in the advertisement. While the tuna had some sinewy texture, it was still flavorful and delicious. The wasabi didn't have much kick, and the miso soup was lacking in ingredients. Overall, the quality of the dish did not justify the original price of 1,500 yen, let alone the discounted price of 750 yen. I won't be returning to this restaurant again.

I came here specifically for the Monday special where the Tekkadon is discounted from 1500 yen to 750 yen. If it wasn't available, I would have gone to a different restaurant. I saw the sign and sat at the empty counter seat to order the Tekkadon. Other customers who came in later also ordered the Tekkadon. I don't like fish, so this review may not be helpful, but I would have regretted paying 1500 yen for this. I wonder if I will visit again next time?

Today's lunch was a great find as I passed by the restaurant and saw a sign advertising half-price for the premium tuna bowl during Monday lunchtime. The regular price is 1,500 yen but today it was only 750 yen. The bowl was filled with so much premium tuna that you couldn't even see the rice underneath. The tuna melted in my mouth and was incredibly delicious. It's definitely worth a visit for this amazing deal!

Yesterday's lunch was at "Tsukiji Kassei Ichiba" near Okachimachi Station. I love fish dishes, so I went there to have my last fish dish of 2019. I arrived after 2 pm, but the place was almost full, probably because it's near Ameyoko. I was seated at the only available counter seat. I had already decided on the "Hyuga Don (¥1,000)" from the menu outside (photo 1). It arrived in about 5 minutes (photo 2). It only came with the bowl and miso soup, and for ¥1,000, it felt a bit lacking in volume. The quality of the fish may have been good, but it felt a bit unsatisfying. Still, I could enjoy fresh fish and crab soup quickly, and it gave me a sense of satisfaction for my last meal of the year. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was very nice. Maybe because it's located under the tracks, the space was small and crowded, but it created a warm and cozy feeling. The place is relatively new and clean, and since it turns into an izakaya at night, it felt like a place where you could relax and enjoy.

We visited the restaurant "Tsukiji Kaisen Ichiba Okachimachi Store" for the first time with three friends in mid-December. It is located about a 2-minute walk from JR Okachimachi Station North Exit, along the JR elevated road. The interior of the restaurant has a total of 80 seats, including counter seats and table seats. We were guided to a 4-person table seat. We started off with a toast with "Asahi Super Dry Extra Cold" (510 yen)! For snacks, we ordered "Assorted Fresh Seafood 5-piece Plate" (1800 yen), "Simmered Dish Assortment" (900 yen), "Grilled Pork with Yuzu Pepper" (850 yen), and "Famous Kombu Tempura on Skewers" (350 yen). First, the restaurant's famous salad assortment arrived, which was very crispy and the dressing was incredibly delicious! This alone made the beer go down smoothly. I wanted to order a bottle of shochu, but they didn't have bottle menu. So, I chose "Fresh Lemon Sour" (480 yen). It was a fun style with a plastic glass covered with a lemon squeezer on top for squeezing the lemon by yourself. The contents of the "Simmered Dish Assortment" were konjac, egg, daikon radish, and beef tendon. Since there were three of us, we couldn't split it evenly, so it was a first come, first served situation. The "Grilled Pork with Yuzu Pepper" uses a brand pork called "Kuju's Sasuke Pork." It was juicy with a good amount of fat, but the refreshing aftertaste with yuzu seasoning made it easy to eat. As for the Fresh Lemon Sour, I personally didn't find it too strong, and the size was compact, so I ended up drinking a lot, and eventually changed to "Black Nikka Highball" (450 yen). This one comes in a tankard, and the highball tastes stronger, so I finally managed to slow down a bit (^-^; Finally, we ended the feast with "Ume Suisho" (480 yen) while ordering another round of drinks. It was a great meal. Thank you.

Located in a corner near Ameyoko area, close to Ueno station, is a fresh market where you can enjoy a seafood bowl with lively and fresh ingredients at a reasonable price. The miso soup, although with few ingredients, is crab-flavored and adds to the excitement. This area is filled with popular restaurants of various genres, but they are always crowded, making it unsuitable for a quick lunch. Fortunately, I was able to find a seat easily today as it was past 1 PM.
