I chose a lunch spot in Shibuya where I could quickly grab a meal in between work. I arrived around 1 pm and saw that the counter seats were available, so I thought I wouldn't have to wait long. I was third in line, which was shorter compared to other places. I was seated at the corner of the counter after the two people in front of me. The staff placed water on the table and asked us to order using the QR code. While I managed to figure it out, the person next to me struggled to scan the code. The staff informed them that they had to choose from the set menu. I quickly made my selection and hoped to finish my meal in 5 minutes to make it back in time, but I ended up waiting because a group of people was paying individually. The concept of the restaurant, which involved lab coats, felt out of place. Overall, the lack of passion for somen noodles research was disappointing. I would not recommend this place for those with limited lunch breaks or tight schedules. Be careful when choosing this restaurant.

It's good for somen lovers. I like tantanmen, so I chose a tantanmen-style dish recommended by the shop assistant. It was delicious!

A shop that offers endless enjoyment with three types of noodles, various toppings, broths, dipping sauces, and more. The interior of the shop is completely white and has a futuristic feel, with mostly young women customers. The toppings felt a bit expensive, such as 220 yen for Kujyo Negi (leek) and 110 yen for Wakame seaweed for the amount shown in the photo. Overall, it's a shop worth experiencing at least once.

"Bukkake somen (cold) + Sokki rice" for 1,300 yen. The lunch set is only available on weekdays. The somen noodles are smooth and chewy, different from what I usually eat. The dipping sauce combines white dashi with the flavor of dried shiitake mushrooms, making it very delicious. The staff wearing lab coats adds a fun and fresh touch to the experience at this place called the "Laboratory."

In the summer, it's all about somen noodles! So I visited the Sosososo Lab in Hikarie for the first time. I've been to Sosososo in Yurakucho before, but this place is like a lab where you can customize the type of somen, flavors, toppings, and more! There were so many options that my creation didn't turn out visually appealing at all, which was disappointing. Surprisingly, even unexpected combinations turned out to be delicious. However, the wait time was quite long, which was a downside.

I used this restaurant for a company lunch. The water was really cold, which was a lifesaver in this hot season! The somen menu was extensive, just as expected from a specialty shop and laboratory. I ordered the chicken salt somen with lemon topping, and it was delicious. The flavor balance was perfect, suitable for eating whether you're feeling unwell or energetic. However, my companion's shrimp and tomato basil pesto somen was too greasy and oddly the noodles were dry and hard, which was not well received. The difference in quality between the menu items was quite noticeable. The interior of the restaurant is a clean, white space inspired by a laboratory. The staff in their white lab coats added an interesting touch. Located deep inside Hikarie 6F, it's not too crowded during lunchtime, making it easy to get a table. If you're curious, give it a try.

I visited "Somen Sososo Kenkyushitsu" on the 6th floor of Shibuya Hikarie for lunch on a work day in Shibuya. This restaurant specializes in somen noodles and is operated by "SosoSo," a somen specialty shop based in Ebisu. The theme of the restaurant is a research laboratory. You can customize your noodles, broth, seasonings, toppings, and ingredients to your liking. I opted for the lunch set due to the overwhelming number of choices. The lunch set costs 1,500 yen and includes cream-flavored somen with chicken meatballs, olive rice, and a drink. The cream soup with somen and chicken meatballs was delicious and gentle in flavor. The staff's service, however, was disappointing. They instructed me to order via a QR code, but the lunch set was not available on the menu. I had to ask the staff directly, and they told me that I had to order the set through them. Despite the stylish interior and good food, the service was lacking. It might be worth visiting this restaurant on days when you're not very hungry or in the mood for a light lunch.

Hmm, it was okay I guess. The shrimp, tomato, and basil somen dish at Hikarie is decent and the fact that they are open until late is convenient. One thing I realized after eating this is that pasta noodles are thicker than I thought. Somen noodles are easier to eat. For 1400 yen, it's acceptable. I don't feel a strong desire to come back to this place, but if I don't have other options, I might consider coming here again.

Visited on a weekday night in February 2023. As it is a research lab-themed restaurant, the staff were dressed in white coats! The monochrome chic interior creates an atmosphere that is easy for a woman to enjoy alone. *Order details below* ▶︎ Salted Pork Medicinal Cream Somen 1,375 yen ▶︎ Set Salad 330 yen ▶︎ Set Drink 330 yen ▶︎ Less Noodles -55 yen There was an option to customize by choosing your own soup and toppings, but I went for the limited-time menu as it seemed more delicious. Creamy yet not too heavy, with just the right amount of medicinal herbs. The flavor was appealing to women! Since it's somen, it feels healthier compared to ramen, which is a plus. There were so many wolfberries in it that you wouldn't normally eat in a day, haha. Be careful, as adding the set salad and drink can increase the total cost unexpectedly. It's nice that it still feels somewhat healthy.

Favorite somen specialty shop. This is my second visit to the Hikarie store. A shop where you can enjoy your own original somen! But I always end up ordering mentaiko somen without trying something new. The soup and toppings are full of mentaiko, which is irresistible for mentaiko lovers ♡ Next time, I plan to try something different.

You can create your own combination of soup and toppings. With so many choices, it can be overwhelming, but they also have classic menu items. They offer unique dishes like sesame tantan noodles in soy milk base, cheese keema curry somen, and mentaiko cream. I was worried about getting full from just somen noodles, but their side dishes like negitoro bowl and rice dishes were delicious. The rich flavor of the noodles also provides a satisfying meal. This place is perfect for when you want something refreshing or hearty!

There is a somen noodle specialty store on the 6th floor of Hikarie. The interior of the store is stylish and they have a wide variety of somen noodle dishes on the menu. The first photo is of large leaf and shrimp genovese, and the second photo is of lemon somen with whitebait. The flavors are like pasta, which is innovative. At first glance, the portion may seem small, but it actually fills you up quite well. It's nice that there are options to order half-size portions.

I stopped by a somen specialty store because I wanted to eat quickly and go home. I had the mushroom and egg stir-fried somen. The taste was okay, but the customer service and service were too mediocre. The space was simple, and it seemed like they were trained to provide minimal customer service. I love somen, and the location is good, and the side menu is also extensive, but I won't be going back again. Thank you for the meal!

"Somen Sosososo Laboratory" The naming is unclear if it's serious or just joking (lol). In the hot season... I wanted to have a refreshing lunch, so I found this place and decided to go in. It is located at the back of Shibuya Hikarie 6th floor. It seems like it has been open for about a year. The interior is mainly white and gray with counter and table seats. It has a casual atmosphere that is easy to use even for solo diners. The staff are wearing white coats. It's a laboratory after all, right? They are not very friendly. You place your order using your own smartphone. The unique feature is that you can customize your somen by choosing the type of noodles, soup, toppings, etc., but the combinations are endless and it can be overwhelming. For those who are unsure, there is a "Staff Research Report" which is a menu recipe guide, so it's good to refer to the recipe while ordering. I chose the "Spicy Sesame Soy Milk Tantan Somen". It includes red belt noodles, sesame soy milk paste, herbal spicy oil, meat miso, warm egg, and coriander for 1375 yen. The sesame soy milk paste is refreshing. The herbal spicy oil was really good! It was spicy with just a small amount, and if they sold it as a condiment, I would definitely buy it (lol). The amount of 1.5 noodles was sufficient. It was more delicious than I imagined, and after visiting once, I got a feel for the atmosphere and how things work, so I feel like next time I'll try customizing my order! 😉

I went to a somen noodle shop that I had been curious about for a while. The interior of the shop was simple with a white color scheme. I had a hard time deciding, but I ended up ordering the "Plenty of Vegetables and Seafood Soup Somen," "Chicken Salt Somen (Half)," and "Negitoro Don." The seafood soup was made with bouillabaisse, and I wasn't sure if it would go well with somen noodles. The chicken salt somen, on the other hand, was quite delicious with the aroma of yuzu. I was happy that I could choose a half size. The shop was indeed popular with female customers.

I wanted to find out if Somen, a noodle specialty store in Shibuya Hikarie, really focuses on Somen as their main dish, so I visited for the first time. I was excited as I remembered the nostalgic Handa Somen specialty store in Higashi-Nakano. The stylish and chic store had a lab-like atmosphere. The menu consisted of regular items, Shibuya store exclusives, and variations. Since the variations seemed more advanced, I decided to start with the regular menu. I placed my order using a QR code on my smartphone. After much consideration, I ordered two half-size items from the regular menu and added a mini salad. The dishes arrived in about 10 minutes. The food looked beautiful and I could already sense its deliciousness before even taking a bite. And indeed, it was delicious! Despite being half-size, the amount of toppings was just like the regular size. The ample ingredients made me feel satisfied, and even though it was Somen, I was full. The noodles were versatile, complementing any type of cuisine, making it a great snack. While it didn't become the main dish this time, I was very satisfied with the lovely snack-like experience.
