In the past, when I was working in Nishi-Azabu, I used to frequent Azabu Danoi. I only have memories of delicious bread and pasta. This time, I decided to visit Danoi after a long time, as it was convenient for both me and my industry friends in Shinagawa. It is located on the 1st floor of Tobu Hotel, which is a bit of a walk uphill from Shinagawa Station's Takanawa exit. We made a reservation in advance, but it wasn't crowded on a weekday, so it seemed like you could also walk in without a reservation. They offer three types of courses: pasta, bread, dessert, and coffee course; a course with appetizers; and a course with a main dish. We chose the course with appetizers and no main dish. You can choose your appetizer and pasta. I chose the ham and Parmigiano salad as my appetizer. The salad was beautifully arranged, with vegetables that were full of flavor and not just the usual lettuce you find in most lunch salads. The cheese was plentiful, and the vegetables had a good crunch, making it very delicious. The bread, which I had high expectations for, came with baguette, focaccia, pate, and olive oil. The bread was as delicious as I remembered, and the pate and olive oil paired well with it. The pasta I chose was aglio e olio with shrimp, zucchini, and tomatoes. I'm not a fan of cream-based pasta, so I usually go for oil-based ones. The small pieces of shrimp were firm, the oil was refreshing, and the saltiness was just right, creating a well-balanced pasta that didn't overpower any particular flavor. The thin noodles also worked well with the dish. I really liked it. For dessert, I had a blueberry cake and sorbet assortment. I was surprised by the purple cake, but it turned out to be delicious. We lingered over coffee after the meal, and the staff kept refilling our water without rushing us. Normally, I would have had sparkling or red wine with lunch, but my friend wasn't feeling well, so we skipped the alcohol this time. Next time, I'd like to enjoy some wine. Shinagawa Konan Exit has many dining options and a station building, but if you want to relax, the Takanawa Exit might be a good choice. It's perfect for a casual meal with a date or friends, rather than a business meeting atmosphere. I will definitely visit again!
