I sometimes visit the Minowa branch (Tabelog rating 3.08), but this was my first time visiting the sister branch on Senzoku-dori street (Tabelog rating 3.15). Despite both branches originally being the same restaurant, they have different exteriors - the Minowa branch is red, while the Senzoku-dori branch is green. The cooking methods and flavors of the meat also differ between the two branches. The Senzoku-dori branch is very popular, with lines forming even before opening time. The restaurant quickly fills up with customers, and it was so busy that they had to turn away walk-in customers saying, "We're fully booked today." The smoke from the charcoal grill filled the restaurant, and some orders were forgotten due to the rush. The taste and atmosphere of the grilled meat varied, and it was a bit pricey at around 12,000 yen for two people. The prices were the same at both branches.

Just a little beyond the so-called back Asakusa (behind Kannon), there is Ryuen, a local yakiniku restaurant! The atmosphere of the locals can be felt strongly even from the exterior of the restaurant, and the people inside the shop exude a lively Asakusa vibe. I visited during lunchtime and ordered two items from the dinner menu as well. It's really great that you can order from the lunch menu even during lunchtime. I tried the Lunch Kalbi, Upper Tan, and Upper Roast, and my impressions were: Upper Roast - very delicious, Upper Tan - delicious, Lunch Kalbi - a bit disappointing. This restaurant clearly has a difference in quality between lunch and dinner yakiniku. One interesting thing I found was the dipping sauce. There are two types available: sweet and spicy. They have completely different flavors, making it feel like comparing sauces from different yakiniku restaurants. Each has its own characteristics, and preferences may vary. The sweet sauce leaves a unique flavor, which can be quite addictive if you like it. The spicy sauce brings heat with the first bite but surprisingly doesn't linger, making it potentially addictive. Both have their pros and cons. I personally tried switching between the spicy sauce at the beginning and the sweet sauce at the end, and both were so delicious that it was hard to choose a favorite. There seems to be another yakiniku restaurant with the same name (Ryuen) nearby, so if you plan to visit, it's a good idea to confirm if it's the Ryuen you really want to go to. I have created a blog called "Yakiniku Encyclopedia" where I record my yakiniku restaurant visits across Japan. I have also been exploring yakiniku restaurants in the Asakusa area, so please check out my blog for more yakiniku restaurant information.

I happened to come across this yakiniku restaurant. The lunch menu includes yakiniku lunch set for ¥880, yukgaejang soup set for ¥880, kalbi udon set for ¥880, cold noodles for ¥880, and bibimbap for ¥680 - such affordable prices! The interior of the restaurant is long with tables lined up vertically. The friendly owner greeted me. There were two groups of customers already. I like yukgaejang soup, but I also wanted to try the yakiniku, so I ordered the yakiniku lunch set. The service was fast! The yakiniku lunch set came in a bento box with a side of three kinds of namul, kimchi, salad, and wakame soup. The portion was just right, and I liked the taste of the namul. Often, namul can be hit or miss, but these were good. The kalbi was not too thin and tender, very delicious! For this price, the taste was satisfying. They served bottled coffee after the meal. Thank you for the meal.

Asakusa is a yakiniku restaurant located on the backside of Kannon, on Senzoku Street. One weekday, I found a steak restaurant nearby and parked my car in a coin parking lot to go there. As I was heading towards the steak restaurant, I noticed a yakiniku restaurant right in front of me, open for lunch. In a split second, I changed my mind from steak to yakiniku for lunch. The restaurant was not packed, so I was able to quickly find a seat as a solo diner. I ordered the "yakiniku lunch" priced at 780 yen, which was quite a deal considering the location in Asakusa. A shichirin with charcoal was brought out first, followed by the yakiniku lunch after a 5-6 minute wait. It came in a bento box style container with meat, salad, namul, rice, and wakame soup. The meat portion was around 5 slices, decent in size and thickness. It was tasty, although the seasoning was a bit weak. It was fine with the sauce, but a stronger marinade might have been better. The namul and vegetables had a good amount for a lunch set. The classic "wakame soup" served at yakiniku restaurants was also delicious. The rice portion was average, which was just right for me. After the meal, I had a coffee, opting for iced coffee since it was still hot outside. At 780 yen, it was a great deal for a lunch at a yakiniku restaurant located away from the bustling Senzoku Street in Asakusa.

I visited a restaurant for lunch in May 2015. I decided to try Korean cuisine, so I headed to the Senzoku-dori shopping street in Asakusa where I remembered there were some Korean restaurants. I found a yakiniku restaurant offering lunch sets, and decided to try their Bibimbap as I was short on time. The restaurant was called Ryuen. After ordering, I was seated at a table and served water. The place seemed to be run by one person, and the tables had small charcoal grills for cooking meat. I received my Bibimbap along with soup and kimchi, and found the dish to be healthy with lots of vegetables and a good amount of rice. I added some seasoning to change the flavor a bit. The kimchi and soup were also tasty. I was offered coffee at the end, and opted for iced coffee which was served in a stylish glass. The price was very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food. I enjoyed my meal and left the restaurant after finishing my coffee.

I often pass by this shop, and it has always caught my eye. At first glance, it has an intimidating appearance, but I mustered up the courage to go in. The interior was much cleaner and more spacious than I had expected. When I ordered the "yakiniku lunch," a brazier with charcoal was brought to the table, and I was quite surprised by the authenticity. The meal included 6 pieces of meat, namul, what seemed to be sangchu, and wakame soup. The meat was tender and of very good quality for the price. Looking at past reviews, it seems the prices have not changed in over 5 years, which is impressive. I finished off with the iced coffee they served after the meal and left feeling very satisfied with the generous portion and value for money. I headed south on Senzoku-dori with a high level of satisfaction.

Tokyo Hormones is a group of meat-loving individuals who don't really think we need to eat yakiniku anymore. We recently visited Ryu-en in Asakusa, which is known for grilling meat on a grill. We don't usually go to yakiniku restaurants unless we are really craving it. I personally prefer fish over beef, pork, or chicken. I make sure to balance out my vegetable intake with juice. If I'm craving meat, I'll go for red meat and green vegetables. A side of bean sprouts and meat intestines is enough for me. If I still feel hungry, I might grill some chicken or add water dumplings to my soup. As for rice, I'll just have a bite. I'm fine with just one beer and two sours for drinks. We call ourselves Tokyo Hormones, and people often ask why. I just say it was a spur of the moment decision (laughs). Oh, and yesterday, I think it was definitely Thursday. My stomach is feeling weak already...

This is a yakiniku restaurant located about 100 meters north of the Asakusa 4-chome intersection in the Senzoku-dori shopping street. I arrived at around 12:50 on a weekday for their lunchtime charcoal-grilled set menu. The menu board outside listed options like "Yakiniku Lunch" for 780 yen, "Udon Lunch" for 780 yen, "Naengmyeon" for 780 yen, and "Bibimbap" for 600 yen. The interior was surprisingly spacious with sofa tables for 4-6 people and a raised tatami seating area in the back, where a couple who appeared to be Korean were seated. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, albeit slightly dimly lit. There was only one staff member, who I assumed to be the owner. I ordered the "Yakiniku Lunch" and soon after, a charcoal grill was brought to the table. Within 2 minutes, a bento box containing meat, salad, kimchi, namul, rice, and soup was served. The meat, which seemed to be beef kalbi, was thinly sliced and nicely marbled. Alongside the meat were lettuce salad with sesame dressing, kimchi, spinach and bean sprout namul, and pickled radish and carrot. The meat was tender and flavorful when grilled, and the dipping sauce provided was slightly sweet and delicious, especially when mixed with gochujang. The kimchi was tasty but the portion was small. The seaweed soup was light and refreshing. Each table had a smoke exhaust duct, so the restaurant was not smoky. After the meal, complimentary coffee was offered, and I chose hot coffee. Overall, the 780 yen "Yakiniku Lunch" was a great value for the quality of the meat, and I highly recommend it for lunch on weekdays.

The restaurant has a strong character with a warm atmosphere, like a good yakiniku place in a downtown area. The prices are reasonable and the quality of the meat is quite good. They also offer a variety of side dishes. Among the many yakiniku restaurants in Asakusa, this place stands out for its warmth and welcoming atmosphere. It's a great place to visit after seeing the Skytree. It's suitable for friends, families, or even solo dining. I personally love their stone pot bibimbap!

When I gathered with friends from my student days and we decided we wanted to eat yakiniku in the afternoon, we ended up coming here. The restaurant has a traditional feel to it, not very modern but still cozy. They use a charcoal brazier like a shichirin, so you can't cook a lot at once, but the smoke is directed upwards so it's not too smoky. They had raw liver on the menu, which made me think the freshness of the meat is guaranteed. One of my friends really liked it and said we should come back again, but personally I thought the price and the quality of the meat were just average. However, it's not bad at all, so I would recommend it to anyone looking for a yakiniku restaurant nearby.

Visited on a regular Friday evening. A small charcoal grill was brought to the table, where we grilled and ate our food. As usual, we ordered Kalbi, Roast, Hormone, Green Salad, and Rice. Kalbi and Roast were already seasoned with sauce, so they tasted delicious even without adding more sauce after grilling. The Hormone was also tasty after being grilled slowly over charcoal. The Green Salad had a nice, mild flavor. However, there was a big problem! The portion sizes were larger than usual, which was great for dining alone, but made it difficult to try all the different types of meat.

Three friends visited the restaurant. We started with the tongue salt, which had a sweet and slightly chewy taste, very delicious. Next, we had the wagyu kalbi, which was tender with a sweet meat juice, very tasty. Then we tried the harami, which was elegant and delicious. Following that, we had the liver sashimi, which was fresh and had a chewy texture, very delicious. Lastly, we had the skirt steak, which was refreshing and recommended for women. Finally, we couldn't resist the spicy pig's feet, which had a slightly addictive taste, very delicious.

"I was introduced to this place by someone who proudly said 'I was born and raised in Asakusa!!' and we visited for a casual business meeting. It was much further from Asakusa Station than I expected, and those who walked there were sweating. The beer tasted great, so it was worth it, but for first-time visitors, I recommend taking a taxi from Asakusa Station. The interior of the restaurant has a few tables and one raised tatami seating area. Overall, it has a cozy and clean atmosphere. Seeing two older gentlemen enjoying beer and kimchi really gave off a local vibe! The drinks were served promptly, which is not common in many places these days, so that was a good impression. The female floor staff was efficient and quickly replaced the grills, and they handled our noisy group with a smile. Now, onto the main attraction – the meat. The cost performance here is really high. The harami and kalbi were well-aged, and the fat was not overpowering. While there may be more delicious (albeit pricier) yakiniku restaurants, for this price, the quality of meat is commendable. They also offer two types of sauces – sweet and spicy – and you can mix in wasabi or gochujang to create your own sauce, which was quite enjoyable. The side dishes like kimchi, salad, and tteokbokki were also well-prepared and quite satisfying. If you're looking for delicious yakiniku in Asakusa without breaking the bank, this place is definitely worth a visit."
