During my college days, I was in the business department. I was so enthusiastic about studying that I spent 5 years to obtain the required credits for accounting, which I loved too much. - Up until my 4th year, I always got a D on the accounting tests. To obtain credits, I needed at least an A to C grade, so I had to retake the class and test. - In a conversation with my grandfather, he mentioned that in the past, ratings were given as "甲乙丙丁戊", and when I couldn't figure out which was good or bad, I said "甲乙つけ難い", which meant the same thing. - When you order an #eel #bowl at this restaurant, you can choose between A and B, but it seems like the B option comes with more generous eel servings. - So today's lunch is at #Takebayashi #Takebayashi Main Store. Occasionally, when I come to the office, I treat myself to something nice. - The eel served after a 20-minute wait is beautiful. The texture when you eat it is fluffy yet with a light crispiness on the surface, showcasing the skill of the chef. - The various #pickles, each with a good balance of saltiness, also enhance the deliciousness and make the rice go down smoothly. The #eel liver dish in the subtly bitter #clear soup has an elegant flavor. - Despite the sweet sauce seasoning, the eel can be eaten quickly without feeling heavy, offering a mysteriously delicious taste. Eel is usually known for its richness, but surprisingly, it was light and enjoyable. - By the way, I haven't tried their other specialties like sea bream tea-soaked rice or the makunouchi bento, so I'll keep them in mind as a Plan B for my next visit to this restaurant.

I attended a gathering at this restaurant. It was a customer-hosted event, so I only have one photo. The course was very delicious. We could choose between grilled eel or eel bowl, and of course, everyone chose the bowl. The eel was plump and the sauce soaked into the rice perfectly, it was so good. I deducted points for the attitude of the staff, giving it a rating of 3.6 points.

The eel has a soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture with no visible bones. The sauce is just the right balance of sweet and salty, very delicious. The grilled eel is so fatty that it floats in the soy sauce. It pairs perfectly with wasabi. Although the grilled eel and eel bowl made me very full, the taste was so good that it made me want more.

I visited for lunch. I ordered a small size of eel bowl and eel roll. The egg in the eel roll was sweet and soft, and the eel itself was delicious. The eel bowl had tender and tasty eel. There were many elegant Ginza ladies as other customers, and the staff were also dressed in kimonos, making it a very classy establishment. I was able to enjoy my meal in a calm atmosphere.

The Japanese-style building was exciting just to walk through the entrance, and the eel was fluffy and really delicious. The lunch prices are reasonable and easy to eat. On the way back, I passed by a shop on the main street in Ginza, but there was a long line under the scorching sun, maybe because it was the midsummer day of the Ox. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but the main store is great! I will come back again!

When it comes to eel, I only know about Takehatei and I don't feel like finding another good restaurant because I am a person who loves reading. Just like the soba at "Yoshida", eel has a very deep historical significance along with the blissful feeling of enjoying the dish. The eel is deliciously light and the rice is cooked perfectly. This eel restaurant has been enjoyed by many writers who have even written about it in their works.

Today, I revisited this restaurant with a junior colleague from work to eat at a long-established eel restaurant. Luckily, we were seated in the second-floor tatami room with a table. The atmosphere on the second floor was very nice, making us feel like we were dining at a traditional Japanese restaurant. This time, I ordered the "Unagi Odon B" with an extra side of eel liver. The eel had a light sauce that was not too overpowering, making it very delicious to eat. I'm not a fan of thick, sweet eel sauces, so I really enjoyed the sauce here. The rice also paired well with the light sauce and was very tasty.

It might be a good idea to inform the staff in advance if you are not a fan of wasabi, as it comes on the sushi rolls at this restaurant. They only offer 2-3 types of alcohol. They do not accept phone orders for grilling in advance, so you need to place your order in person. If it's not busy, your food will be ready in 20-25 minutes.

We stopped by for a quick lunch. I had the Karari Imo (¥660) and Umaki (¥1,870), while my companion had the Eel Rice Bowl (B) (¥3,520). The staff, including Nakai-san, were dressed smartly in kimonos and served the food efficiently. The Umaki omelette was moist and slightly sweet, in the Kanto style. The eel in the dish was also of good quality, and the omelette was really good. The price of the liver sashimi (¥330) was very reasonable. There were some appetizer-like dishes available for lunch, which was unexpected. The atmosphere was calm, with mostly older customers, but it was heartwarming to see a couple sharing a sake bottle even during lunch. The eel rice bowl or set meal seemed more affordable compared to other places. I want to increase my eel experience level! Thank you for the meal!

I visited the super long-established eel restaurant "Takebayashi" which was founded in 1866, located a 6-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station. It had been a while since my last visit. I arrived 5 minutes before opening on a Saturday and was able to enter smoothly as they were already open. I ordered the eel bowl (B) for 3,520 yen, which came with a small side dish. Since they didn't have an eel set, I asked for the larger size of the eel bowl, which is the B option. The large bowl was served in about 15 minutes. The eel was soft and slightly sticky, very delicious. The gentle sauce was also sprinkled on the rice, making it tasty. The small side dish was not eel liver but shrimp and potato. The combination of the broth and potato was also delicious. I enjoyed it until the end.

I head south from the Kabuki-za theater in Higashi Ginza, pass through the Kiri-cho street, and arrive at the famous restaurant district in Ginza 8-chome. Beyond the Shinbashi Enbujou theater, I reach the main branch of Takebayashi-tei. Despite being the main branch, they treat casual customers with care, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is full of Ginza charm. The prices are not as high as other traditional restaurants in Ginza. Today, as my birthday is approaching, I treated myself to the "Unagi Odon B" (priced at 3,520 yen including tax). The taste was very refined, with a light and gentle flavor in both the sauce and the eel itself. This is not your typical eel bowl from an eel shop, but rather a high-quality eel dish you would expect from a traditional restaurant. The ambiance of the area, the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the service were all pleasant and made for a delightful and wonderful birthday lunch.

I visited the restaurant during lunchtime. It was not crowded, probably because of the time. In addition to the eel, I also tried the mozuku vinegar which was sour but complemented the deliciousness of the eel that followed. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was quiet and had a nice ambiance, making it a great place to enjoy a meal peacefully anytime. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I used this restaurant for lunch the day before the midsummer day of the ox. I thought the place might be crowded due to the season, but it wasn't too busy due to the influence of the coronavirus. The set meal was about 3900 yen. Considering the recent high prices of eel, it was a reasonable price. As for the taste, the eel was steamed well and very fluffy. The sauce was not too sweet, with a good soy sauce flavor. Personally, I prefer Kansai-style grilled eel, but among Kanto-style eel, this one is my favorite.

A long-established eel restaurant founded in Edo during the late Edo period. I love the branch called Takehazatei in Umeda Daimaru, which was split off from the main store. I had visited it a few times during my student days, so when I found out that there was a main store of this eel restaurant with sentimental value, I decided to visit for lunch on the midsummer day of the ox. When I called to make a reservation 5 days in advance, they said they were fully booked for course reservations, but for the rest, we could line up in order. So, we decided to line up before the opening. We arrived at 11:10 and were seated smoothly. It seems like they open early on the midsummer day of the ox. However, the restaurant was full with us, and those who came later had to line up. We ordered seasonal dishes, two dishes in total. - Junsai (water shield) for 770 yen: The jelly part is thick and has a fluffy texture. The subtle seasoning brings out the flavor of the ingredients, and the wasabi adds a sharpness to it. - Eel liver simmered in shigureni sauce for 880 yen: It has a crunchy texture, with a sweet and spicy seasoning with ginger. It is rich in vitamin A and very nutritious. - Eel rice bowl (B) for 3,520 yen: There are two sizes of rice bowls, A and B, so we chose the larger one, B. It comes with miso soup and pickles. The eel is of a moderate thickness, with a sauce that matches its thickness, making it light and refreshing. The eel is fluffy and the rice is cooked slightly firm. The rice is not soaked in the sauce but is evenly drizzled over. The pickles are also delicious. The miso soup contains shrimp shinjo with rice cracker topping, giving it a nostalgic touch. The eel has a satisfying volume and goes well with the light taste. Despite being busy, the staff quickly noticed when our tea was running out and were attentive to their surroundings. Considering the recent price increase of eel, there was a sense of value in being able to eat eel for around 3,000 yen.

The appetizers, especially the pressed eel sushi, are outstanding. The flounder is firm, the tuna is tender, and the amberjack is firm with no fishy taste. The refreshing broth of the shrimp dish is delightful. The grilled liver is like nothing I've ever tasted before. It feels like dining at a traditional Japanese course meal. There's so much more I want to write, but eating is the best part. You must try it once!

I received a gift from Takehatei during the summer. I started with a light bottle of beer to wet my throat, while enjoying some appetizers. I really love uni (sea urchin), but it's hard to find a place where I can eat it, so it was a bit lonely. The uni sushi rolls and liver were delicious, and the grilled white fish was not too fatty, with a nice kick of wasabi. The eel bowl had a traditional taste and was refreshing. The ladies serving in kimonos at this restaurant made me feel nostalgic. I forgot something that day, but they kindly put it in a bag and gave it to me later, which made me happy!

The atmosphere of this restaurant is lovely in every way. One person can visit without a reservation. I arrived at 11:50 am. The first floor was full, so I was guided to the second floor with tatami table seating after taking off my shoes. The layout of the place already lifted my spirits with its traditional Japanese architecture. I had decided on the eel rice bowl A. They promptly served tea, hot towels, and three types of pickles. 20 minutes later, the bowl and soup arrived. The ceramic dishes were nice. The eel was thinly sliced and tender, and the rice was delicious, although I prefer it a bit firmer. The sauce, which has been passed down for over 100 years, was refreshing, and I was impressed by the sense of history. The staff, including the ladies in kimonos, provided attentive service. There are a few private rooms in the back on the first floor, which I would like to use for entertaining foreign guests someday. I was satisfied with the traditional feel and ambiance of the restaurant, even more than the taste, from the restroom with a traditional garden view.

In between Tsukiji and Ginza, I suddenly craved eel and decided to visit Takebayashi. I have been to both the main store and the Ginza branch multiple times. The sea bream tea pickles are also delicious, so I always have a hard time choosing, but on this day, I was in the mood for eel. The main store does not have eel over rice, so I ordered eel bowl A and liver soup. The eel is tender with a gentle sauce, so it's not overwhelming to eat. The exterior has a high-class feel like a traditional Japanese restaurant, but the prices are relatively affordable. If you ever crave reliable eel in this area, this is the place to go.

The eel here is truly delicious. It's fluffy and light. Today, I also tried the grilled eel, which was also incredibly tasty. Although the menu listed a specialty dish called "sea bream tea pickles," it didn't seem to have rice, so I opted for the sesame-flavored sea bream instead. The rich sesame flavor was delicious! Thank you for the meal.
