Cold and hot dipping noodles with two servings (cold noodles, warm broth) topped with tempura, fried tofu, and meat - the three treasures of toppings. When you're feeling a bit hot, this cold and hot dipping noodles are recommended! The noodles have a rough, wavy surface that carries the dipping sauce well into your mouth. The strong dipping sauce is flavorful enough to drink on its own, but still satisfying when slurping the noodles. When you dip the tempura, it adds richness from the oil. Adding fried tofu brings a hint of sweetness from the broth. And with meat, the umami flavor overflows. It's like a course meal spread out on the plate, but the green onions, wasabi, pickles, and greens are all the stars of the show! As you leave the restaurant, the owner's voice from the kitchen window saying "Thank you" makes you feel warm and happy.

I had been wanting to visit this famous restaurant in the residential area, which had been closed for almost half a year. I heard that they reopened in September and decided to go for my first visit. I ordered the cold udon with meat for 900 yen. The udon had a different wheat aroma compared to Musashino udon. The firmness was similar. The broth, with a bonito flavor, was delicious. Adding the meat enhanced the taste even more. I definitely want to try the curry udon next time.

I visited a restaurant that I usually go to, where 90% of the customers were regulars. I heard that they had reopened for lunch in Hachioji, so I decided to go check it out. Despite the typhoon, the restaurant was almost full, showing that everyone really likes it. Since it was chilly outside, I ordered the curry udon. The curry had a delicious aroma that made me hungry. The udon noodles were firm and chewy, and absorbed the flavorful curry well. The tender chicken and crispy white leeks were also delicious. The curry-soaked tempura was amazing too. Occasionally, I refreshed my palate with the slightly sour pickles. I ate non-stop, sweating gently, and finished everything. It was really delicious, just as I expected. I could imagine my wife feeling regretful for not coming with me. I'll definitely bring her here next time she visits. Thank you for the meal.

After taking a break for a while, I visited during the weekday afternoon as they have resumed business. I was lucky to find a seat right away, but when I left, there were 7 people waiting outside. The food was delicious as always! The owner seemed to be in good spirits, which was nice to see. I hope this place continues to thrive for a long time. Thank you for the meal.

There is a popular udon restaurant called Futabaya located about a 10-minute walk from JR Hachioji Station South Exit (2 stops by bus). They are known for their hand-made udon noodles with a firm texture and reasonable prices. However, the restaurant had to close for an extended period starting in late April this year due to the poor health of the noodle maker. Fortunately, they reopened in September with a renewed spirit, as indicated by the new red curtain hanging at the entrance. The ordering process remains the same - you write your order and name on a piece of paper. I ordered the cold udon with meat and fried tofu for 900 yen. The noodles still have the same firm texture and delicious flavor as before, despite the introduction of a noodle-making machine to ease the workload on the noodle maker. It's great to see the father back in good health and the restaurant thriving.

On a regular day, I visited a curry udon restaurant for lunch with my colleague before our business trip to Yamanashi. We ordered curry udon and tempura, which is the only option available. The food was served promptly, and I performed my usual ritual of dipping the tempura into the curry. The combination was beautiful, with the richness and umami flavors of the curry broth enhancing the chewy udon noodles. The tempura, soaked in curry broth, provided a harmonious mix of crispy and moist textures. Before we knew it, we had finished our meal, thoroughly impressed by the delicious flavors. My colleague also expressed a desire to come back, which made me a little happy. As we left the restaurant, there was already a line of 10 people waiting. I decided that I would return again, this time to try their nabeyaki udon. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

On a regular day, visited a restaurant and ordered: Me - 2 servings of hot udon for ¥550, Wife - medium curry udon for ¥700, tempura for ¥100, meat for ¥150, and kitsune udon for ¥80. We went to our favorite restaurant in Hachioji for lunch due to some business in the area. As the weather is getting colder, it's the season for hot udon. My wife also joined me. The winter limited hot pot udon was not available yet, so we ordered hot udon and curry udon. The dishes were served promptly. Since there were only two of us, we decided to indulge in extra toppings. We enjoyed swapping udon and trying different toppings. The thick udon noodles become even chewier when hot. The slightly sweet broth was also delicious. It was definitely tasty. We will come back again. Thank you for the meal.

Visited 1135, full house, with a line of 3 people. Curry udon medium size for ¥700, tempura for ¥100. I went for lunch after a business trip as it got colder. Despite the rain, there was a short line outside. Managed to get in after about 5 minutes. Ordered curry udon, which was served promptly. I added the tempura to the curry udon and enjoyed the combination of crispy and moist textures. The curry was delicious with a well-flavored broth. The udon noodles were hand-made with varying thickness, providing a nice chewy texture. The chicken chunks in the curry were plentiful as usual. The tempura, soaked in curry, had a perfect balance of crispy and tender textures. Enjoyed every last drop of the curry broth. Will definitely come back to enjoy the magic of Futaba-ya again. Thank you for the meal!

A hidden udon restaurant that I discovered on Tabelog. I always saw a long line in front of the store and ended up leaving. By chance, I passed by right after the opening time, and there was no line, so I decided to take a peek. I didn't know where the parking lot was, so I parked at a nearby coin parking lot and entered the restaurant. I wrote my order and name on a piece of paper as instructed, and sat at a table. The operating hours were different from what was listed on Tabelog when I visited, so I informed them to update it. The restaurant was already 70% full inside. I was called after a while, and they brought me my order of "3 servings of hot udon with tempura", which came with pickles, something I didn't know beforehand. When I placed my order, they asked me if it was okay to put the tempura on top, and I agreed. They also checked with another customer who ordered a raw egg later. The bowl was slightly larger than those around me. The hot broth was sweet and refreshing, and the tempura was crispy and delicious. The udon noodles had a firm texture similar to Jiro-style udon, not like the softer Musashino udon. The noodles were flat with a slight wave, just as another reviewer had described. As the broth soaked into the udon and turned brown, the umami flavor seemed to increase (in my opinion). I occasionally nibbled on the pickles to refresh my palate, and added ground sesame seeds and shichimi for flavor variation. I devoured the entire bowl like I was battling it out at a Jiro-style ramen shop. It seems they lent me a ladle upon request. I lifted the bowl and drank the remaining broth. I told them my name at the register and paid. It was a great value at 750 yen for a large portion of udon. However, the cost went up a bit with the coin parking fee. Regular customers were parking in unexpected places around the restaurant, so it's best to ask the staff for guidance. They were very helpful and courteous to first-time customers. The competition for parking spots is fierce, but I would love to come back for curry udon when it gets colder.

Udon (with two extra noodles), tempura. Among all the udon I've had so far, this one is one of the most chewy and satisfying. It has a great texture that I really enjoy. The dipping sauce has a strong flavor which I appreciate. The tempura is crispy and delicious on its own. All of this for only 650 yen. Despite the trend of rising prices, it's great to be able to eat such a delicious and satisfying meal at this price. Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant is always crowded during lunchtime. I've tried a few times but always ended up passing because of the long line. My cousin came to visit and we decided to have an early lunch on our way to the station. It was a cold and rainy day, so we opted for ramen or udon. We arrived a little after 11 am and were able to get in without waiting. It felt nostalgic as I used to come here in middle school, where a classmate's mother worked. We had to write down our order on a piece of paper, and I chose simple udon while my cousin went for curry udon. The udon was hand-made and had a nice uneven texture, and the broth was delicious. It was cheap and tasty, and I could see why it's always busy. The service was quick, and the turnover seemed good as the place quickly filled up. I will definitely come back again.

I had to go to Hachioji for work and visited this restaurant with a colleague during our break. We had to wait for one group ahead of us before we could enter. We ordered by writing our names and choices on a piece of paper, and when the dishes were ready, they called out our names. The udon noodles were hand-made and had a rough texture with slightly uneven thickness. The noodles had a good chewiness, not tiring like in some Sanuki udon. The meat topping had a slightly tangy and refreshing flavor, and I immediately mixed it into the broth. I had a feeling that this would enhance the flavor of the broth. Overall, the meal was decent. I'm not sure if I would come back again, partly because of the parking situation.

On weekdays, this place gets around 1150 visitors. There is always a line with 5 people. The curry with rice costs ¥700 and tempura costs ¥100. For lunch during cycling trips, I almost always order curry udon. However, I couldn't bear the recent heat, as the sweat was pouring down. But I still wanted to eat curry. Good news for you - they have "dipping curry," where you dip cold udon noodles in curry broth. The tempura is a must-have. The curry dipping sauce is the same as the curry udon. Dipping the cold udon noodles in the curry broth is refreshing and delicious. No sweating, no need for a handkerchief. This is the perfect answer to summer curry udon. Everyone, give it a try. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

In the 6th match, the local hero from Hachioji, the talented player Futaba, will be starting with curry udon dai! His outstanding baseball sense shines both in batting and fielding, leading the Lions with his excellent plays. And look at that appearance! Truly a gifted individual from above~

I visited on a regular day and had the small Curry Udon for ¥650 and Tempura for ¥100. I tried the Curry Udon small size for lunch after a business trip. The difference between the Curry Udon small and medium is just the amount of noodles. The level of curry broth in the same bowl is different. That's it. Sorry, that's all. I will come back again. Thank you for the meal.

On Saturday at 11:50, we visited a popular udon restaurant with a line of 5 people. The place was packed with customers. I ordered 1.5 servings of nabe-yaki udon for ¥850 with an additional raw egg for ¥50. My wife ordered a medium-sized curry udon for ¥650 with tempura for ¥100. This udon restaurant, Musashino Udon, is our favorite spot for lunch. I highly recommend the curry udon, which has a delicious broth and comes with crispy tempura toppings. The winter limited edition nabe-yaki udon is also a must-try, with a variety of luxurious ingredients. The hand-made udon noodles have a perfect chewy texture. Today, we added a raw egg for a luxurious touch, and it was delicious. Both my wife and I were very satisfied with our meals. We will definitely come back to Musashino Udon. Thank you for the delicious meal!

This is a restaurant review of a Musashino Udon shop in Hachioji! When it comes to noodles in Hachioji, Hachioji Ramen is the first thing that comes to mind, but there are many unique udon shops in the area as well. One of these unique shops is located here. I heard that it gets really crowded, but when I arrived, there was no line. I managed to enter the shop easily as a few cars were trying to park in the front parking lot. The staff explained the ordering process to me as it was my first time. I ordered 3 servings of udon, specifying whether I wanted the noodles and broth hot or cold. I also wrote down my toppings and then handed the order slip to the staff. I took a cup and a teacup from under the counter and headed to my designated seat. The udon, broth, condiments, pickles, and a container full of ground sesame seeds were served. The udon was made by the head chef right in front of us, and each noodle was relatively long. It had a firm texture and chewiness, but was slightly softer compared to other Musashino Udon shops. The spinach garnish was a nice touch. The broth was not too strong in soy sauce flavor and had a sweet dashi taste. I could easily drink it all up. The tempura was mostly onion, but it was delicious and crispy. It was definitely worth the 100 yen price. The udon and tempura seemed to be pre-made, but the quality was excellent. The shop was very busy, especially around midday on Saturdays. The checkout process was simple, just tell your name at the register, and the total amount would be on the order slip you filled out earlier. You can order more than 3 servings, with each additional half serving costing 50 yen. It's a very affordable place to get a satisfying meal. Whether you order in half or full servings depends on your appetite!

Saturday 11:57 visit, line of 10 people or more. Entered at 12:20. Curry udon for ¥650, tempura for ¥100. Checked the busy atmosphere on holidays. The turnover is fast so didn't have to wait long to get in. Personally recommend the curry udon. The menu variety is well balanced with plain (hot), mixed (cold), and curry udon. All dishes are delicious. Will come back again. Thank you for the meal.

I knew the reputation before going, so I was worried that they might be sold out or I might not be able to eat anything. But there was no point in giving up before even trying, so I decided to go at a time when it was not too crowded. I was able to easily enter a side street off the main road, and luckily there was no one waiting outside. The staff came out just as I approached and asked if I could enter. They helped me with the step at the entrance, and I was able to enter without any problems. The menu was simple with options like kake, tsuke, curry, and nabeyaki udon, and you could choose toppings to customize your order. I decided to go for a simple udon with tempura toppings. The udon came out hot and I was surprised by how hot it was. The noodles were not too thick and had a firm texture. The broth had a good balance of sweetness and saltiness, and I could taste the sesame and shichimi seasoning without overpowering the flavor of the broth. The tempura was a good size and not too greasy, which was surprising. The pickled daikon radish that came with the udon was also a nice touch. Overall, I enjoyed the udon and the experience at the restaurant.

This shop is also like that. A delicious restaurant that is always crowded regardless of Tabelog reviews. It's not very close to the station in a residential area. But it's always crowded, and I also wait in line. It's a long-established Musashino Udon shop in Hachioji that I've been going to for a long time. Due to the Omicron's rampage, I thought it might be empty, so I arrived a little after the 11:00 opening time. As expected, it was not crowded, and we were able to get a seat without waiting in line. However, by around 11:30, a line had formed. On a weekday Friday, the restaurant is quite spacious, so even if you have to wait a bit, the turnover is very fast. There is also a private parking lot for the shop, and there are coin parking lots nearby. My wife hates ramen shops. She doesn't like places like Ramen Jiro at all. But she is a big fan of this udon shop. Although my wife is slender, when she's in a good mood, she can eat two servings. Normally, even women who eat little can easily finish 1.5 servings. Despite the fact that the noodles are similar to Ramen Jiro's, they are very delicious, so we have been going there for a long time. Since it's Musashino Udon, the noodles have a rough handmade texture with plenty of wild and rough characteristics. When you order a lot of servings, it comes in a ramen bowl, haha. People who like Ramen Jiro will definitely love this udon shop!!! The special incantation is "Niku Tamago Tempura Udon 3 servings Extra Sesame Extra". I used to be a Jirolian. A former Jirolian. I'm refraining from going there for a diet... Hachioji also has two famous Ramen Jiro shops. The ordering system at Futaba-ya is unique. When you enter the shop, you take a piece of paper and a pen, write down your order and name, and hand it to the old lady. Our order was 2.5 servings of blue tonkatsu, 1.5 servings of tempura (kakiage), one mountain vegetable, two raw eggs, one meat, and one meat and tempura to share. When we sat down at the table, they brought it to us, and when we finished eating, we went to the counter, told the old lady our name, and paid. Inside the shop, the old ladies wear white triangular handkerchiefs and are bustling around, while the old man is alone in a harem. He's just making udon noodles. By default, it comes with green onions, naruto fish cakes, and spinach. I eat halfway through the Kake Udon, then pile on the toppings and run towards complete conquest. The Sligoma on the table is a must. For two or more bowls, I like to have a spoonful mountain of three bowls. Shichimi is optional. I also like Sanuki Udon, Mizusawa Udon, and Inaniwa Udon, but Musashino Udon is also delicious. Rather, I love Futaba-ya. If you're near Hachioji Station, I highly recommend it. It's a wonderful restaurant that you can eat at every day, suitable for cars and families.

Visited on a regular day at 12:10, 80% full. Ordered the Winter Limited Edition Nabe-Yaki Udon with 1.5 servings for ¥900 after returning from a business trip. The dish was served in just 5 minutes, still boiling hot so be careful of burns, safety first when eating. The quality of the ingredients at Futaba-ya lived up to its high price, with plenty of shrimp tempura, mountain vegetables, spinach, naruto, kamaboko, shiitake mushrooms, fu (wheat gluten), white onions, and green onions. The broth was delicious, and the thick shiitake mushrooms released a savory juice. The uneven udon noodles had a good chew, offering a variety of textures to enjoy. The dish was warming, tasty, and came with a risk of burning your mouth. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal.
