I love hot pot and it was my first visit! The style is where you choose your own ingredients. There were plenty of authentic ingredients to choose from!!! I picked the spiciest soup and collagen soup. It's really spicy but also deliciously spicy.

I love spicy food but I have a low tolerance, so I usually go for the mildest option. However, when I tried the Hokkyoku ramen at Naka Moto, I decided to go for the spiciest level this time. Surprisingly, even though it was really spicy, the flavor was still amazing and I was able to enjoy it without sweating too much. The spiciness builds up gradually, similar to the Gomoku Moko Tanmen level of spiciness. I think I'll go for the spiciest level again next time!

I live in China half the time, so I often go to this restaurant in Shinjuku where you can easily enjoy hot pot on skewers. You pick your favorite skewers and put them in a plastic bucket just like in the original style. Then you add them all at once to the hot pot. I have been coming to this restaurant for years, and it used to have a slippery floor covered in oil, making it easy to accidentally spill the skewers when carrying the bucket. But now, after renovations, the floor is clean. They have also added Japanese explanations to the menu. The taste is very delicious, with a strong umami flavor in the spicy soup. There may not be as many skewer options as in the original, but each one is very tasty. The staff at the restaurant are cheerful and friendly, seeming to be from Chongqing.

I love this place so much that I came back again! Last time I had a two-color hot pot, but I mostly ate the spicy one, so this time I went for a single color with level 4 spiciness! It's much spicier than level 3! The staff recommended a super spicy sauce (second picture) for me, which wasn't that spicy but had a nice sesame oil flavor. It was a great palate cleanser. I can come to this restaurant anytime, but I wish they would change up the ingredients sometimes!

I'm a huge fan!! I really, really, really love it (´TωT`) Is there a hot pot restaurant that can surpass this one? It was delicious with level 3 spiciness, so maybe I'll try level 4 next time! The shrimp is so fresh! The meat is also delicious! I love glass noodles! I tried the amazing two-color soup, but the hot pot is so delicious that one color is enough. When making a reservation over the phone, the first thing I say is "Ni Hao".

Three of us girls visited on Saturday afternoon. The inside of the restaurant had a slightly unique smell of spices, which we didn't really like. For the hot pot, we chose the one on the right in the photo, which had the mildest spiciness, and also the mushroom hot pot. Even though the mildest option was chosen, it turned out to be surprisingly spicy, and my friends were coughing. Even if you are good with spicy food, it's recommended to start with the mildest or second mildest option. The smooth noodles were the most delicious ingredient!

We started our late lunch at 2 o'clock! Besides us, there was only one other group of customers. They chose the recommended level 2 out of the 4 levels of spiciness. Since it was all-you-can-eat and drink, they had a total of 4 lemon sours and highballs. The soup had a herbal taste and seemed to improve blood circulation, making the alcohol go down smoothly. When they felt the spiciness wasn't enough, they asked for extra chili oil, which was promptly brought to them. The skewered ingredients were diverse, with lamb, cauliflower, and bamboo shoots being particularly enjoyable.

I went to a restaurant that I was interested in on Instagram. This place is famous for its spicy hot pot. This hot pot is buffet style, where you can pick your favorite ingredients on skewers for 80 yen each. It's fun to choose your own ingredients. The soup can be made non-spicy or two colors, but this time I couldn't communicate with the staff and ended up with one color. However, the taste was amazing! It was really delicious! The spiciness and numbness of the Sichuan pepper were excellent. Be careful though, as the staff may have difficulty communicating if they are Chinese.

All-you-can-eat hot pot! The cost performance pot is less than 4000 yen for all-you-can-eat and drink. You can choose from 2 types of flavors, I chose medium spicy and collagen. Although it's medium spicy, it gets hot and too spicy as the ingredients soak in, so I switched to collagen pot in the second half. Next time, I will try the spicy one. The imitation crab sticks and tofu skin are so delicious that I could eat them forever! The customers around me were all locals! I want to go there again! ✌

Choose two types of soup for the hot pot, pick your own ingredients, then wait for a while. The spicy soup pairs well with the refreshing taste of a highball. The all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat menu is a great deal. The staff are friendly and create a nice atmosphere.

Revisited this restaurant. If you love spicy food, don't hesitate to go for level 4 spiciness! This is currently the spiciest hot pot place in my ranking, but strangely it wasn't as spicy as last time... Not sure if I've gotten used to it or if it's inconsistent, but it's still a recommended place for a spicy and budget-friendly hot pot experience. Located in a mixed-use building in Shinjuku Kabukicho. The atmosphere inside is filled with Chinese conversations, with more Chinese customers than Japanese. All-you-can-eat and drink for just under 4000 yen! You can choose the spiciness level of the hot pot from 1 to 4. Of course, we ordered level 4 without hesitation. It's a style where you can pick as much skewered ingredients as you want. Since the descriptions of the ingredients are all in Chinese, I have no idea what kind of meat it is (laughs). You can also get plenty of vegetables. In the middle of the hot pot is chicken broth soup, which is used to dilute the spicy soup. It's easy to overeat with hot pot. Highly recommended for those who love extremely spicy food!

Spicy lovers should definitely go for level 4 spiciness! This is currently the spiciest restaurant in my hot pot ranking. It is located in a mixed-use building in Shinjuku Kabukicho. Inside the restaurant, you will hear a lot of Chinese conversations and there are more Chinese people than Japanese. The all-you-can-eat and drink option costs around 4000 yen! You can choose the spiciness level of the hot pot from 1 to 4. We ordered level 4 without hesitation. The style is to pick as many ingredients as you like from the skewers. Since the descriptions of the ingredients are all in Chinese, we don't know what kind of meat it is (laughs). You can also get plenty of vegetables. In the middle of the hot pot, there is a chicken broth soup that you can use to dilute the spicy soup. The level 4 soup is intensely spicy! I recommend it to those who love extremely spicy food.

ザ・激辛日記!!

This time, after the super spicy gourmet spring festival, we decided to stop by another restaurant with the club members in Kabukicho. When we searched on our smartphones, we found a place called "Daishokei Ma-La-Tang Shinjuku Branch" which seemed to be a Sichuan hot pot restaurant. Since none of us had been there before, we decided to visit this hot pot restaurant this time. Daishokei Ma-La-Tang Shinjuku Branch has branches not only in Shinjuku but also in Ikebukuro. When we entered the restaurant, it was lively with Chinese customers. We were led to a table and saw the menu on the wall, where we only needed to choose two types of soup. There was a small pot in the center of the main hot pot. The outer area is where you cook and eat the ingredients. The central pot is for enjoying the soup. You can choose the spiciness level of the outer soup from 1 (mild) to 4 (extremely spicy). As for the central soup, I apologize for forgetting, but 3 was chicken soup and 4 was pork trotter soup. This time, we ordered [Outer] level 4 (extremely spicy) and [Inner] chicken soup! A stove was set up, and the hot pot was brought to our table. Next, we went to pick our ingredients from the showcase inside the restaurant. There were many ingredients to choose from, and each of us picked our favorites. The system is that all the ingredients are skewered, and you calculate the price based on the number of skewers after you finish eating. Once we got back to our table, we started cooking the vegetables, meat, fish, and other ingredients in the hot pot. We tried the cooked vegetables first, like the watercress. It was quite spicy and numbing! Hot and flavorful! After eating a bit, we added some seafood ingredients which were also hot, spicy, and unexpectedly delicious! We kept eating and enjoying ourselves, and a staff member came over to ask if we were okay with the spiciness. When we said we wanted it even spicier, they added an extra level of spiciness for us. After adding the spicy sauce, it became even hotter, around level 6 on the spice scale. We continued to have a great time, getting a bit tipsy and enjoying the night. Sometimes it's nice to have this kind of hot pot experience. It was refreshing to try new spices and pick our own ingredients. If you want to know more about this restaurant, please check out the photos. Now, where should we go next?☆★Today's Super Spicy Dish★☆ --------------------- Dish: Ma-La-Tang Level 4 Spicy Spiciness: 6 Deliciousness: 7 Atmosphere/Service: 7 Overall Rating: 8 Impression: Authentic Sichuan hot pot experience right at your fingertips! The taste is very authentic. And extremely spicy. The best. Also, very entertaining. When making a reservation at this restaurant, it is recommended to first make a reservation by phone. It is a popular restaurant, so making a reservation is recommended. And the entertainment starts from here. When you call, a Chinese-like staff member will greet you in Chinese. When you mention reservation, they will ask for your phone number. After providing your phone number, the call ends. You may feel anxious about whether the reservation was successful, but it is done properly. Inside the restaurant, the authentic aroma of hot pot with medicinal herbs spreads. And at the back of the entrance, there is a refrigerator that looks like a convenience store. There are skewered hot pot ingredients placed there. After choosing the soup and it is brought to you, you take a skewer from the refrigerator and put it into the soup to cook. Since the refrigerator does not have the names of the ingredients, you try to guess if it's fish or probably meat while selecting. It's fun. This time, I chose the spiciest soup. When you cook the skewers in the soup, the spicy hot pot with the flavor of medicinal herbs spreads through, creating an authentic taste. It's quite spicy, so it's recommended to eat by alternating between the hot pot and the soup in the center. The drinks included options like Tsingtao, typical of Chinese restaurants. It was a good restaurant with good cost performance and a unique atmosphere.

Two weeks ago, I was taken to a hot pot restaurant in Kabukicho by a colleague from work. It was said to be authentic, and it truly felt like being in China. The spiciness of the hot pot comes in 4 levels, and I like spicy food so I went for level 3, which is "very spicy". The menu featured a popular chicken broth labeled as "adult flavor". The ingredients were priced at 80 yen per skewer, and I believe the broth inside and the broth outside were sold separately. The real essence of hot pot lies in making your own dipping sauce. Mix sesame oil with garlic, Sichuan pepper, and sweet bean sauce to create a sauce that suits your taste. Dip the hot pot ingredients in the sauce and enjoy. It's spicy and delicious. When you need a break from the spiciness, you can relax with the chicken broth. The ingredients range from pig's feet to fried chicken, clams, vegetables, and wood ear mushrooms, among others. You can take as much as you want and eat at your own pace. If you want to try authentic hot pot that hasn't been Japanese-ified, I recommend giving this place a try. Thank you for the meal.

I was craving something spicy, so I searched for a spicy hot pot on Tabelog and found an interesting restaurant where you can choose the level of spiciness for your Ma La hot pot, and pick your own ingredients on skewers. Most of the reviews were from Chinese people, so I was a bit nervous when I visited. The staff were all very polite, and the auntie even explained the mysterious ingredients on the skewers. The place was bustling with Chinese customers, but it was a great experience. I ordered a level 4 spicy hot pot, and it was really spicy and numbing, but still delicious. The meat was okay, but the vegetables, mushrooms, and seafood went really well with the hot pot. It's a perfect place to have a fun time with friends. I recommend it if you don't mind the self-service style!

There are various types of skewers available. A healthy way to eat is to have a small pot with vegetables in the middle, and a spicy pot with meat. This time, I found the beef tendon to be delicious as it was soft and tasty without needing to be cooked for a long time. The spare ribs were also delicious as they were pre-seasoned and didn't need any sauce. We ate 60 skewers between the two of us and were satisfied.

I first visited this restaurant 2 years ago, and I have been there about 10 times since then. To cut to the chase, there are now many places in Tokyo that serve better hot pot than here, but the appeal of being able to pick ingredients on skewers (1 skewer for 80 yen) and the affordability keep drawing me back. My first experience with hot pot was in Chengdu in 2002, and the strong impact from that time has stayed with me. In Chengdu, we also picked ingredients on skewers and put them in the hot pot, so I find myself coming back to this restaurant. Nowadays in Japan, hot pot has become popular as a medicinal hot pot, even among office ladies, with many upscale hot pot specialty restaurants opening up. However, I still prefer going to places with a local feel. As the weather suddenly turned cold, I visited this restaurant for the first time since spring. I arrived on a Monday at 6:30 pm, with only two groups of customers already there. By 8 pm, the restaurant was about 70% full, with no Japanese customers. The waitress who spoke Japanese was very friendly and left a good impression. The spicy soup can be chosen from levels 1 to 4, and I always choose level 3. There are also 4 types of non-spicy soup, but I usually just randomly choose one. This time, I chose the soup labeled as "most popular" (refer to the photo). I picked a lot of mystery meat and vegetables and started the hot pot. Don't forget to get a paper apron. It's a shame that they don't have lamb meat here, but they do have pig's blood and plenty of vegetables to choose from. The dipping sauce is optional, but since my friend was trying hot pot for the first time, we prepared two types: "sesame sauce + green onions + roasted sesame seeds" for the non-spicy soup and "sesame oil + minced garlic + salt" for the spicy soup. The sauce is not included in the price. The spicy soup was extremely spicy, so let's leave it at that. The non-spicy soup I chose this time had a lot of mushrooms and meat from a waterfowl with a paddle, which was quite flavorful. The most noteworthy thing was the saltiness of the soup, which seemed to have increased compared to before. Even after adding more soup halfway through, it seemed even saltier, so maybe it boiled down too much in the kitchen. We ate about 30 skewers between the two of us and said, "We're full," but looking around, we saw skewers stuck in every table like charms at a shrine. We still have a lot to learn.

It's a pot with crayfish. It's not as spicy as it looks. It may be a topic of conversation, but it's not like eating a Japanese hot pot with a flavorful broth and delicious rice porridge at the end. I took a risk, but I still feel like going back to my ex-girlfriend.

Is this normal? Spicy or not! You can choose. The spicy one is really intense. Great for stress relief. And it's cheap for one skewer, right? As a coriander lover, I can eat a ton of coriander. Maybe it's because of the spiciness, but I was silent the whole time. The inside of the double-layered pot! The non-spicy side might be heaven, maybe even sweet (or is it just me, haha). Definitely a great stress reliever. However, the smell on your clothes is pretty strong, so you might not be able to ride the train (haha). If you have a heart of steel, you might be able to. Alright! Let's go in a tracksuit!
