A man dressed in black attire greeted me and led me into a dimly lit restaurant with ambient lighting. The atmosphere felt like I had entered the headquarters of a secret society, giving me a sense of excitement. Despite the tension, the staff greeted me warmly and provided impeccable service. I ordered the "100% Matsusaka Beef Hamburger" as my main dish, along with the "Combination Salad" as an appetizer. Starting with the salad, it was a beautiful arrangement of green vegetables, tomatoes, boiled eggs, and potato salad. Each ingredient was fresh and bursting with flavor. The tomatoes released a sweet juice when crushed, complementing the dressing. The boiled eggs, served with homemade mayonnaise, were rich and creamy. The potato salad, made with steamed potatoes, had a smooth texture and a deep flavor. Despite the small portion, the concentrated flavors made it seem like I had eaten much more. The main dish, the Matsusaka beef hamburger, was perfectly balanced in terms of lean meat and fat. The juicy hamburger was packed with the essence of Matsusaka beef, and with every bite, the meat juices flowed out. The intense flavor and aroma of the beef stimulated my senses, leaving me in awe. The rice, cooked in a pot upon ordering, was firm yet tender, with each grain distinct and flavorful. It paired perfectly with the hamburger, enhancing its richness. I chose not to use the demi-glace sauce provided, as I wanted to savor the pure taste of the beef. The overpowering richness of the Matsusaka beef left me trembling with each bite.

I am a huge fan of the Western-style restaurant "Toyo Ken" located in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture. I fell in love with their Black Curry after trying it at the main store once, and now I love Toyo Ken so much that I buy their Black Curry retort pouches in bulk from the Mie Prefecture antenna shop. This time, I visited the Akasaka branch, which I have been to a few times before. The interior, with its black and white theme, is chic and exudes a luxurious atmosphere. The menu offers various courses and a la carte items, but my personal recommendation is definitely the Matsusaka Beef Black Curry, which is the restaurant's specialty. Despite its pitch-black appearance, the curry is incredibly smooth and exquisite! The Matsusaka beef is unbelievably tender as well. The manager is also a really nice person, always making sure that everything is okay and engaging in pleasant conversations. Thank you for the wonderful experience! I hope to visit regularly in the future. Thank you for the delicious meal!

A few years have passed since I visited this restaurant at night, and the child born at that time is now 5 years old. If you bring a child under school age, you must use a private room, which costs an additional 12,100 yen. The restaurant is located right above Akasaka-Mitsuke subway station, which is very convenient. The 7,700 yen course includes appetizer, soup, main dish, choice of curry or hayashi rice, and dessert. The Matsusaka beef black curry is famous here, with a spicy and completely black appearance. The children's lunch menu includes shrimp fry, crab cream croquette, hamburger, and a high-quality omelette rice. The dessert pudding a la mode, with plenty of fruits and ice cream, is highly recommended. The shaved ice is a summer-like dessert with a sophisticated taste.

On this day, I visited "Toyo-ken" in Akasaka♪ It's just a 2-3 minute walk from Akasaka-Mitsuke Station☆ Lunchtime♫ has arrived☆ I ordered the "Prefix Lunch Menu: choice of appetizer or soup + main dish + (milk bread or rice) + dessert + coffee (@5500)." - Onion gratin soup - Assorted fried items (crab cream croquette, pork cutlet, shrimp) - Pudding a la mode - Milk bread The onion gratin soup was made with Matsuzaka beef consomme, Awaji Island onions, and gruyere cheese served with homemade bread♫ It was delicious (*゚▽゚*). The main dish was an assortment of fried items including crab cream croquette, pork cutlet, and shrimp. Each item was coated and cooked perfectly, served with tomato sauce, homemade Worcestershire sauce, and tartar sauce. The pudding a la mode was just the right portion size♫ Looking forward to the next visit! (∗ˊᵕ`∗)

I visited this place once for lunch, but it was my first time coming at night. I chose the prefix menu which included two main dishes, like a mischievous menu. First, I had the sashimi carpaccio and seasonal soup. The elegant cold corn soup really hit the spot, delicious. Then for the main course, I had three types of fried dishes and a hamburger. Even as an adult, I still long for children's lunch-like meals. This was the ultimate luxury, with incredibly huge shrimp tempura. And their specialty, Matsusaka beef black curry. This is so delicious that I could have seconds at any time. Maybe it's the sweetness of the onions, but the curry sauce is rich. For dessert, I had the pudding a la mode. I think I've consumed three days' worth of calories, thank you so much (laughs).

The weekday lunch course costs 7700 yen and includes appetizer, soup, main dish, dessert. You can choose from dishes like sashimi carpaccio, onion gratin soup, menchi katsu, hashed beef rice, and shaved ice. The sashimi carpaccio, menchi katsu, and shaved ice were particularly delicious. With alcohol, the total cost per person is around 10,000 yen, which may feel a bit expensive. If it were the price before the recent increase, it would be a 4.0 rating.

The customer requested Japanese Western-style cuisine and omurice, so they went to Toyo-ken. They had a special omurice made, which paired perfectly with seasonal white asparagus. They like onion gratin soup, but always end up burning their mouth haha. For fried dishes, they had shrimp fry, cream croquette, and pork cutlet. For dessert, they had no choice but to go with pudding a la mode! The customer was very satisfied with this dreamy adult dinner.

I visited the super long-established Western-style restaurant "Toyo-ken" located a 3-minute walk from Akasaka-Mitsuke Station, which was established in 1889. I made a reservation for Saturday at 12 o'clock. I ordered the Matsusaka beef steak set for 4,950 yen. It came with salad, pickles, consomme soup, and coffee. Shortly after, the Matsusaka beef double consomme soup was served. The aroma was amazing and the flavor was incredible, making it a perfect appetizer for red wine. About 10 minutes later, a beautifully presented Matsusaka beef steak set arrived. They used the lamp part of Ito Ranch Matsusaka beef A5 rank to ensure a light fat content for a generous portion. The steak was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and very delicious. The light fat content made it disappear quickly. It was a delicious meal until the end.

Akasaka's famous Western-style restaurant "Toyo Ken" has a history of 133 years since its establishment in 1889. The lunch menu consists of three options: 5,500 yen, 7,700 yen, and 10,000 yen. Today, I opted for the 7,700 yen course which included appetizer, soup, main dish, and dessert. This course also comes with a choice of the famous black curry or hashed beef rice. First, they serve rolls and butter. For the main dish, I chose the Matsusaka beef 100% hamburger, which was rich in flavor. The demi-glace sauce made from Matsusaka beef complemented it well. The signature black curry, simmered for a month and delivered from the main store in Mie, had a very rich taste. For dessert, I selected the most popular pudding a la mode, which was firm and rich in flavor, pairing well with espresso. Although it's a bit pricey, you can enjoy top-level service and Western cuisine.

I visited for lunch. The course included a soup appetizer, two dishes, a main dish, black curry, and dessert. The warm rolls were all-you-can-eat. Each dish was not too big, and by the time I finished dessert, I felt pleasantly full. The voluminous Prin a la mode left me feeling quite satisfied. Overall, I was very satisfied and would like to try another main dish next time.

A Western-style restaurant in Akasaka Mitsuke. Visited during lunchtime on a holiday. Ordered the prix-fixe lunch menu and chose my favorite appetizer, soup, main dish, and dessert. I ordered the hamburger, three types of fried food, and onion gratin soup, all of which were extremely delicious. With drinks for two people, the total came to just under 30,000 yen. It may be a bit pricey for lunch, but the taste and service are excellent. The service was polite with just the right amount of distance. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

I used it for the course. There were many dishes, and the timing of serving was quite slow, so I got very full. The hamburger (almost steak) made from 100% beef was excellent, and the famous black curry was also delicious. Every dish went perfectly with wine!

The establishment of Toyo Ken dates back to the year 1889, when Ito Koishiin opened a beef hotpot restaurant called "Imafuku" in Shikoku-cho, Mita, Tokyo. In 1897, at the recommendation of Ito Hirobumi and other former ministers, the Western-style restaurant "Toyo Ken" was opened adjacent to "Imafuku." With talented chefs like Kitagaki Eishichiro and later, Akiyama Tokuzo, who became the Emperor's chef, Toyo Ken gained a reputation as a purveyor to the Imperial Household during the Meiji era. The head chef at Toyo Ken is Chef Narisawa, known for his avant-garde cuisine. Despite his reputation, he excels in traditional dishes using the finest ingredients. I opted for the 7700 yen lunch course, which included unlimited servings of delicious homemade milk bread, appetizers like oysters in champagne sauce, mushroom cream soup, a main course of three types of fried dishes, and a black curry with hayashi rice for the finale. The dessert was a classic pudding a la mode. The oysters, cooked in champagne and served with creamy champagne sauce, were a perfect match. The mushroom soup was rich and creamy, with a foamy texture on top, making it easy to drink. Each fried dish had a unique homemade breadcrumb coating, adding to the overall enjoyment. The classic pudding was firm and delicious. The service at Toyo Ken was equally exceptional. The waitstaff provided detailed explanations of the dishes, maintained an appropriate distance, and showed flexibility in their approach to everything. Their professionalism added to the overall dining experience, making it unforgettable. I will definitely visit again!

I made a reservation about a week ago and visited the restaurant. The restaurant, with 5 tables, was fully booked so I recommend making a reservation. The interior is mainly white and spacious, with partitions for privacy. The lunch prices have been slightly adjusted, starting from around 5000 yen including tax. The additional prices for ingredients are clearly indicated, which is reassuring. I ordered three types of fried dishes. For the appetizer or soup, I chose warm vegetables with anchovy butter, and for dessert, Mont Blanc. There were about 10 types of warm vegetables such as potatoes, green beans, and romanesco, mixed with fermented butter from Hokkaido and anchovies. The chef also carefully selects vegetables from different regions that match the dishes. Even though the vegetables are cooked, you can still taste their freshness. The three types of fried dishes were prawns, pork from Chiba, and crab croquettes. The croquettes were served with tomato sauce, while the others had homemade Worcestershire sauce and tartar sauce. The ingredients were delicious even without the sauces, but I could feel the chef's dedication in making each sauce. The ingredients were of the highest quality, and the cooking techniques were top-notch. This refined experience made me truly appreciate the art of cooking. The Mont Blanc dessert had minimal binding agent and was served with raisin ice cream as a sauce, not too sweet and melted smoothly in the mouth. Located near Akasaka-Mitsuke Station in a quiet area, this restaurant is perfect for those seeking the best ingredients and culinary skills.

Prefix-style Western restaurant. I occasionally visit for lunch. The restaurant is located near Toyokawa Inari, where even Johnny's idols are said to visit. For lunch, they offer three courses: 5,500 yen, 7,700 yen, and 10,000 yen (excluding tax). I ordered the 7,700 yen course, which includes appetizer, soup, main dish, dessert (with a drink). The appetizer was "Warm Vegetables with Bagna Cauda Sauce," beautifully arranged with vegetables like rapeseed flowers, lotus root, pumpkin, turnip, and carrots, each cooked differently. Next was the "Onion Gratin Soup," surprisingly simple yet delicious, made only with Awaji onions for a rich flavor. The main dish was "Hamburger" made with Matsusaka beef, which was sweet and flavorful. The 7,700 yen course also included the famous Black Curry from Toyoken, made with Matsusaka beef fat and secret spices, a must-try dish. Feeling like I could still eat more, I ordered a mixed fry and beef tongue stew a la carte. The fry included pork cutlet, shrimp fry, and cream croquette, each perfectly crispy and tender. The pork cutlet was thick and juicy, prepared meticulously by frying and resting repeatedly. The beef tongue stew was thick and tender, deliciously coated in sauce. Overall, the dishes were gentle and satisfying, with a sense of fulfillment growing with each course. I look forward to experiencing a different side of the restaurant during dinner on my next visit.

The custard pudding a la mode is thick and solid, with a slightly firm texture. The subtle egg flavor spreads in your mouth, with a restrained sweetness and elegant taste. The caramel is rich and bitter, a perfect match for the mildly sweet and sophisticated pudding. The fruits are sweet and delicious, truly showing the quality.

There was no wait at noon on a weekday, and the service was excellent and polite with only one customer in front. The restaurant had a high-end feel with individual partitions for each table, providing privacy. The set course meal included an appetizer, main dish, and dessert for 4598 yen. You could choose between rice or bread. The menu included: - Appetizer: Onion gratin soup with Hokkaido fermented butter and homemade milk bread (refills available). - Main Dish: A trio of fried dishes including Benizuwai crab cream croquette, pork tenderloin cutlet, and fried shrimp with fruit tomato sauce and delicious tartar sauce. - Dessert: Praline a la mode with seasonal fruits (persimmon, pear, Kyoho grape) served with vanilla ice cream, Kyoho grape sauce, meringue, whipped cream, praline, and white chocolate. - After the meal, you could change coffee to rooibos tea. The entire meal of soup, main dish, and dessert took about an hour.

In 1889, the year the Constitution of the Empire of Japan (Meiji Constitution) was promulgated, this restaurant was born and has a history of 133 years. Enjoy a variety of Western dishes at a great price with a prix-fixe lunch. Start with Iwate oysters in champagne sauce. Pair it with a glass of Dream Masters Dream by a sake brewer. The milk roll baked in this restaurant is served with a fermented butter similar to kinpaito sugar. After enjoying a light burn from the onion gratin soup with Awaji Island onions, it's time for the main dishes. Choose between a trio of fried items and the classic hamburger or the teppan plate with two dishes. Indulge in a crab cream croquette with a hint of bechamel sauce and a fried prawn, along with a tonkatsu sauce for the crispy pork cutlet. The Matsusaka beef hamburger made from 100% minced beef with an exquisite demi-glace sauce is a must-try. Finish off with the restaurant's famous black curry, which has a perfect balance of aroma, acidity, body, sweetness, and spiciness. The European-style curry, which takes 30 days to make and is delivered from the main store in Mie, is a delightful end to the meal. The sauces in all the dishes are superbly crafted, reflecting the 133-year legacy of East-West cuisine at Toyo-ken.
