I visited Yamadaya for the first time this year, but I felt rushed as there were many groups of 3 or more customers, and I couldn't fully enjoy my meal. I don't usually visit the area near my workplace on weekends, but I decided to go on a rare weekend visit. I arrived at 11 am when the restaurant opened, but there were already 2 customers ahead of me. The staff seemed relaxed on weekends. I ordered ramen, half-fried rice, and half gyoza. The ramen is always right up my alley, with the soy sauce ramen being exceptional at Yamadaya. The traditional delicious ramen always stays consistent and is the best. The half-fried rice is well-balanced with a generous portion and various ingredients, making it my favorite. Even though I prefer crispy fried rice, it tastes even better when enjoyed with the ramen. The half gyoza has a chewy skin filled with plenty of meat, and it is truly delicious. I enjoyed it with homemade chili oil, vinegar, and soy sauce. I leisurely savored every dish and finished everything. It was a truly delicious meal. I finally had the opportunity to enjoy a meal at a leisurely pace, and it was really delicious. The familiarity and charm of Yamadaya, a Chinese restaurant I have known since childhood, shines through. It's heartwarming to see the charm of an old-fashioned restaurant. It was a great day where I could chat with the staff whom I usually don't have time to talk to. Sometimes, going out for lunch on a day off is a wonderful experience.

I came to an old-fashioned Chinese restaurant in the city. It seems like they only have help during lunchtime. There were a few older ladies who seemed like mothers and a younger man managing the restaurant. Today's lunch special was half fried rice for 480 yen and half dumplings for 280 yen. The fried rice was cooked by one of the mothers and had a moist texture. The dumplings were also moist and delicious. I will definitely come back!

On the way back home, Surutto. At lunchtime, there is a shop where salarymen line up, a little off the main road, so it's hard for ordinary people to find, but this place is definitely delicious! Especially recommended for beginners is the Yakiniku Rice for 880 yen. The meat is large and voluminous, and surprisingly tender. It's hard to imagine from the appearance, but I've never had such tender Yakiniku rice meat before. Furthermore, the richness of the Yakiniku sauce goes well with the rice. I personally like to sprinkle homemade chili oil on top for added spiciness before mixing it with the rice. In addition to that, the dumplings, fried noodles, yakisoba, and now even Hiyashi Chuka are all delicious. Definitely recommend this local Chinese restaurant!

During my last visit, the rice was sold out, so this time I was determined to have a rice dish. I started off with a beer, as usual. While enjoying my midday beer, I looked at the rice menu and tried to decide what to order. Maybe fried rice... No, the grilled meat set meal sounds good. Or perhaps the vegetable stir-fry set meal. But maybe the meat and vegetable set meal would be better... How about garlic chive stir-fry set meal? That could be good too. Stir-fried noodles with rice? What's that? That sounds interesting too. But wait, now I'm thinking about noodles instead of rice? My mind is all over the place. In the end, I ordered 3 dumplings as an appetizer, and settled on the grilled meat set meal as my main dish. While cleansing my desires with beer, the first to arrive was... rice and pickles! Then came the soup! And a little later, the grilled meat was served! Look at that volume! It's impressive, isn't it? I took a sip of beer, tried the pickles, and then the long-awaited dumplings arrived. The homemade dumpling skin was chewy and the hot broth was dripping. The dumplings were filled with plenty of vegetables, which I found amusing. Next, I tried a bite of the grilled meat... Wow! This is amazing! The large cuts of meat gave a satisfying feeling of indulging in meat, making me feel incredibly happy. The seasoning was light and matched perfectly with the rice, giving a satisfying "rice thief" flavor. The sauce was plentiful, so be careful not to splash it on your clothes while enjoying the meal. It was delicious once again today.

In late July 2023, on a Tuesday at 11 am, there is a buzz on social media about delicious "yakiniku" (grilled meat), but for me, Yamadaya is all about their "jajangmyeon" (black bean sauce noodles). While the norm is "soupless" jajangmyeon, here they serve it with a generous amount of soup and minced meat. I have been a regular at Yamadaya for years just to enjoy this dish. In the summer, they also offer "hiyashi chuka" (cold Chinese noodles) and "cold jajangmyeon." Of course, without hesitation, I always go for the cold jajangmyeon. I walked in and sat at the third seat from the right at the counter, directly facing the entrance. I placed my order verbally with the guy in charge of the pot in the kitchen. Once the noodles were cooked, the guy finished preparing the dish. There were only two male solo diners when I arrived, but more customers started coming in. Some were enjoying gyoza. They only serve during lunch hours now, so if you want to drink here, it has to be during the day (sad face). The ramen ordered by the customer after me was served in just about 3 minutes. The speed of service is crucial for the turnover of the restaurant. Plus, they serve generous portions here, so you can enjoy a satisfying meal. My cold jajangmyeon arrived within 7-8 minutes. It looked beautifully brown and green. The familiar amount of noodles, topped with minced meat and garnished with watercress and cucumber. The thin noodles allow the sauce to coat them nicely, even with a smaller amount. While warm jajangmyeon tends to be quite spicy, the cold version is milder, probably due to a difference in the amount of chili oil used. Adding more chili oil to match the soup in the bowl would likely be quite a lot. The lack of chewiness in the thin noodles is characteristic of this traditional Chinese restaurant's flavor. Despite being a regular portion of cold noodles, I left feeling satisfied. I will definitely come back again.

The restaurant is a bit far from the workplace, but due to various circumstances, I had an early lunch visit. It's always crowded at lunchtime. The Chinese restaurant in the town? The city? The sweet sauce was poured over the grilled meat. I added chili oil from the table halfway through to change the taste. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. If it were closer, I would go there every day.

I arrived a little after 12 o'clock and the restaurant was quite crowded with only two seats available at a shared table. I was a bit worried that it was past lunchtime, but luckily my food was served in less than 10 minutes. I was surprised to see a bowl bigger than a tissue box coming my way. The ramen had a refreshing soy sauce flavor with spinach, bamboo shoots, chashu, and naruto, and the thin noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. It was simple yet delicious. However, the portion was huge, equivalent to about 4 or 5 bowls of regular ramen. I was able to finish it because of the light soy sauce flavor, but it would have been overwhelming if it was too oily.

I've been interested in this restaurant for a while. It was packed inside at 11:30, but luckily a few seats at the counter were available. The popular dish was the grilled meat rice with wonton noodles, firm, and half the noodles. It's too mischievous, the diet backlash is serious haha. The menu has so many tempting options! Next time, I'll try it at night with a highball!

■Shop Information I walked 10 minutes from Hatsu-dai today and came to "Yamadaya." This place is highly acclaimed as the number one Chinese restaurant in the area. I came here because I wanted to try their grilled meat rice. They only open for lunch, and it can get quite crowded during peak hours. You may end up sharing a table with others. By the way, there are only men here, haha. ■What I Ate - Grilled Meat Rice ¥880 It arrived in about 15 minutes. The grilled meat rice has a substantial portion. It's probably pork shoulder? It has a sweet and savory flavor that is delicious. The meat is tender with a sweet fat. They have a solid grasp of the basics of Chinese-style grilled meat. The rice is also tasty, which is nice. It's not outstandingly delicious, but it's a cozy Chinese restaurant that brings back nostalgic feelings. Arrived at Hatsu-dai in the early afternoon for work. Decided to combine work with lunch, so I arrived early. Hatsu-dai is known for that amazing restaurant I had decided to revisit, the one with incredible lunch options. To lift my Monday blues a bit. I arrived at the restaurant right at noon. All seats were already taken. As expected. About a 2-person wait. While waiting, I considered looking at a different menu, but I couldn't forget that unforgettable taste that left a strong impression on me. Yes, the grilled meat rice bowl. And of course, today I ordered the grilled meat rice bowl again. This time, I went all out and got extra rice. Truly a lunch fitting for work. Delicious. The appearance, the satisfying portion, the flavor, everything was just right. A miraculous harmony was achieved. It boosted my motivation a bit. Thank you for the meal.

I visited for the first time. This shop is filled with the atmosphere of an old-fashioned Chinese-style restaurant in town. I wonder if it is run by a family. It was full on this day, and by the time I visited, they had run out of rice. I was curious about the taste of the soup, so I first ordered regular ramen and a bottle of beer. Beer drunk at lunch somehow tastes very good, doesn't it? (laughs) By the time the unmistakable lunch beer started to settle in my body, the ramen arrived at the table. It looks pretty appealing (laughs). The taste of the soup... this is also my type! The noodles are moderately thin, and when I slurped them up, the soup clung to them, which I also liked! (laughs) I enjoyed it very much. In this Reiwa era, ramen is overflowing with variety, but there are fewer ramen shops like Yamadaya. I hope they continue to preserve that taste.

There was no parking lot within about a 10-minute walk from Hatsudai on the Keio New Line. It is a must to line up during lunchtime. Can they really make a profit with this amount and price? I was truly impressed. The contents of the yakiniku rice bowl have 5 thick slices of meat! The taste is also delicious. Are urban meats cheap?

Yamadaya in Hatsudai, Nishi-Shinjuku. It had been a while since I visited Yamadaya. I went there around 1 pm on a weekday. I was hoping that it might be less crowded at this time, but there was still a line... even at this hour. That's Yamadaya for you. I ended up sharing a table, but was seated quickly. Without hesitation, I ordered the "Yakiniku Rice" because I was craving rice dishes. Despite looking busy, the staff at the restaurant had a smile for every customer. It's no wonder everyone loves Yamadaya. It seemed like a lot of people from nearby companies were gathering there. The two women sitting next to me ordered a set of half-fried rice and half-gyoza. I was impressed by their ordering style. Yamadaya has a menu that is friendly to women as well. Despite the wait, I was able to leave the restaurant in about 25 minutes after entering. A quick lunch! Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back!

I finally got to visit Yamadaya in Hatsudai, a restaurant I had been wanting to go to. I had the grilled pork set meal that I was looking forward to. The pork was bigger than I had imagined, and the meat was thick! It was delicious with the sweet and savory sauce, and the rice was served in a huge bowl for a regular portion. There was someone eating a large serving of noodles, but unless you're a big eater champion, it seems impossible to finish it all. It was a great restaurant where you can eat a satisfying meal at a good value. Thank you for the meal!

Visited around noon on a weekday. Located about a 10-minute walk from Hatsudai Station, near the Nishi-Shinjuku Yonchome intersection on Yamate Street, this Chinese restaurant is frequented by men in work clothes. Invited by a senior colleague, I entered the restaurant. Inside, the place was already packed with guys in work clothes. Self-service water is available at the entrance. I was guided to a table at the far end when I picked up a glass. I ordered the Butter Ramen for 680 yen with an extra-large portion for 100 yen, totaling 780 yen. The dish was served in about 10 minutes. The ramen consisted of vegetables, char siu, and naruto in a typical Chinese-style broth with butter on top. However, the portion size was unexpectedly large, served in a basin-like bowl, which made me a bit nervous as I started eating! The soup was light and clear, based on a seafood broth with little to no strong flavors. The thin curly noodles had a low water content and a delicious wheat fragrance. And there was plenty of them. The thick char siu had a good amount of fat, adding to the overall satisfaction. Although it may look like a typical Chinese restaurant, this place is actually a men-only establishment specializing in large portions. I opted for the extra-large portion this time, but I heard they also offer a "Jumbo" ramen. The cost performance is excellent, and I am planning to challenge the Jumbo ramen on my next visit.

I went to work in Hatsudai at lunchtime and relied on Tabelog to choose a restaurant. This place is definitely loved by the locals. It's THE town Chinese restaurant, yet both the counter and tables were full. The place was packed with customers. I arrived around 1 pm and soon they were sold out of meat and rice, so only noodle dishes were available. Even with only noodle dishes, the customers kept coming. Luckily, I was able to order the grilled meat rice that I had my eye on. The portion size was amazing for ¥880, the best cost performance. I believe the other menu items are also delicious. I was also interested in the fried rice. It must be a classic menu item. I was pleasantly surprised and fully satisfied with my lunch. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

On my first visit, I got off at Sasazuka Station on the Keio Line and decided to walk to Shinjuku from there. Around Hatsudai, it was already 11:00, so I searched on Tabelog and ended up here. I arrived around 11:15 and there was almost a full house. We sat at a table that was almost empty. Water is self-service. This time, I ordered the "Wonton Men" (740 yen), and my wife ordered the "Karashi Hon-Chuka" (860 yen), and also a plate of "Half Gyoza (3 pieces)" (280 yen). It took about 5 minutes to be served. The ramen had more volume than I expected! It could easily pass for a large serving at other restaurants. The clear soy sauce soup had a slight animal flavor. The medium-thin noodles were cooked firm and had a low water content, so they were a bit soft at first, but they got better towards the end. The wontons had a smooth skin, about 10 pieces, and were very satisfying. The Karashi Hon-Chuka had a spicy flavor from the chili oil, which was just right. It was nice to see plenty of vegetables in it. Personally, I prefer this over the soy sauce ramen. There was also a "Karashi Ramen" (700 yen) on the menu, but I'm not sure how it's different. The gyoza had a well-mixed filling and a crispy skin, giving it a homemade feel. I enjoyed it, but my wife felt it had a fishy taste that she didn't like. Maybe it's a matter of preference. While we were eating, more customers kept coming in, and there was a line forming outside. Since we were sitting at a table for four with just the two of us, we felt bad and hurried out. It's a popular and cost-effective local Chinese restaurant.

According to reviews, the owner is very considerate and runs the business wonderfully!! ♪ This time, I ordered the yakiniku set meal ⭐️ A mountain of incredibly voluminous pork meat, served with a large bowl of rice, soup, and pickles♪ The thick, giant pork meat is delicious whether eaten on rice or on its own! The sweet and savory seasoning made it surprisingly delicious until the last bite! ☺️ The thickness was so much that it was tiring for the jaw to chew, haha. Visited Yamadaya, a traditional ramen shop that I have been wanting to try for a long time, on a Saturday afternoon around 1 pm. I woke up at 5 am to help my family move to Nishi-Shinjuku, so I finally had the chance to come here. The interior of the shop is like a typical Chinese-style restaurant, with red tables and metal chairs - it truly feels like stepping back in time to the Showa era. I had already decided to order the grilled meat rice bowl. My family ordered champon, spicy miso ramen, and half-fried rice, and everything was delicious. The portions were huge! Next time, I'll ask for half portions of noodles!

Yamadaya at Hatsudai offers ramen and "yakiniku rice" that is completely different in noodles and flavor from the Yamadaya in Nishi-Shinjuku-Gochome. The noodles at the Hatsudai location are thinner and have a nice chew to them. The chashu soaked in flavor and the rich soy sauce soup look delicious, but the taste is actually lighter than expected, with a weak punch. It was a bit bland, but I used the ramen as a miso soup substitute and ate it with the yakiniku rice, which was just right. I prefer the seasoning of the Hatsudai location over the Nishi-Shinjuku-Gochome one. The yakiniku rice has a sweet and salty seasoning that makes the rice disappear quickly. I highly recommend it and will definitely order it again next time I visit Yamadaya. #Yamadaya #Ramen #Chukasoba #SoySauceRamen #LocalChineseRestaurant #SoySauceNoodles #LocalChinese #TownChinese #Lunch #Kitanashuran #YakinikuRice #Yakiniku #SetMeal

Hatsudai Yamadaya. All the staff at the restaurant are nice people. You can understand why they are loved. The restaurant may have a bit of history, but as soon as you enter, you can feel the cleanliness and the love from the local regular customers. Even though it was a little past 11 AM when I visited, the counter was full. Out of the three tables available, the one at the back was already taken. The staff recommended a table seat for me since there was a sign saying "one person please sit at the counter," I felt a bit hesitant... I was planning to order wonton noodles, but seeing someone at the back table enjoying their beef rice dish made me change my mind! I ordered the "beef rice" instead. After a while, the beef rice arrived at my table. Meanwhile, at the counter, people finished their meals, paid, and new solo customers kept coming in. The staff were multitasking, cooking, serving, and handling payments all at once. They were hardworking and had a pleasant demeanor. Perhaps that's why everyone is charmed by them. Or maybe it's because all the dishes are delicious. Either way, Yamadaya in Hatsudai, Nishi-Shinjuku (towards the back) is a wonderful restaurant loved by the locals. I found a great local Chinese restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal~ I'll definitely visit again.
