After a long time, I took an afternoon break at IMAX! I arrived on a weekday at 1 pm. The screening starts at 2:30 pm, so there were still some empty seats an hour and a half before, but the window seats were popular despite being hot. I ordered the Shrimp Genovese Pizza for 1330 yen (excluding tax). I was in the mood for pasta, but I thought ordering this would help me conquer all four types of pizzas. The pizza had shrimp that wasn't fishy with Genovese sauce. It was slightly salty due to the cheese and Genovese sauce, but I liked the basil flavor. The Prosciutto Bismarck was no longer on the menu. Most likely, it was because of the increased cost of eggs. The elusive Prosciutto & Cheese Plate that was always sold out was completely removed from the menu! I ordered a glass of white wine for 460 yen (excluding tax). I was tempted by Sangria, but I chose the white wine because it was the cheapest option with alcohol. I prefer cold white wine over lukewarm red. Oh, taking a day off, enjoying white wine while overlooking the diverse scenery of Ikebukuro, and watching a movie at IMAX in the afternoon would be amazing! Later, I checked the map and found out the tall building in front was the Toshima Ward Office! Amazing... I overheard a conversation from a couple sitting nearby, and the man was really nice. He was listening attentively to the woman who was talking non-stop, nodding in agreement, making her feel comfortable to keep talking. He didn't offer advice or logical arguments, just kept affirming her words and making her feel good talking. It was like how a mother interacts with a small child... His nodding was really the best. I should try to imitate that. I ordered a strong coffee for 420 yen (excluding tax). The doors opened 20 minutes before the screening. I'm curious about the blend, but I always end up choosing the strong coffee because it seems richer. Since my work hours and workload increased this spring, with lots of overtime and weekend PTA events, I've been so busy that I even got shingles. The days were exhausting, and I ended up drinking wine in the afternoon, so I missed some parts of the movie due to fatigue. Thanks to the coffee, I didn't completely doze off and woke up during the action scenes. From the Maverick days, I've been shown trailers for Mission: Impossible/Dead Reckoning PART ONE, and it finally premiered! I had seen the scene of jumping off a cliff on a bike in the trailer many times, but there were many highlights not shown in the trailer. I thought Venice was the setting, but they also went to Rome. The Colosseum! The Spanish Steps! The Fiat 500! Wow... I enjoyed the Italian cityscape! Venice was beautiful, and the Orient Express was fantastic. It was great to watch it in IMAX! I should do a bit more research and watch it again without wine at least once.

Located in the heart of Ikebukuro, this hidden gem offers stunning views while enjoying an affordable cup of coffee. The theater is equipped with large screens showing movie trailers on the ceiling. I was introduced to this place by a movie-loving colleague and I want to keep it a secret. It's a perfect spot for a quick break with your loved one.

It was like an Italian bar near Sunshine City in Ikebukuro. The inside of the shop was stylish and had a nice atmosphere. It's located on a high floor, so the view is great, and the seats are facing the windows, giving a sense of privacy. It's suitable for a date or a girls' night out with friends. There is a projection screen above showing fireworks and beautiful scenery, creating a very nice atmosphere.

This time, I visited the cafe & bar "Bar Panorama" in Ikebukuro. It is located on the 12th floor of the Grand Cinema Sunshine in Ikebukuro, and you can enter even if you're not watching a movie. --Food and drinks received-- - Sangria (red) x 1 - Shandy Gaff x 1 - Potato & Chicken x 1 Total cost: around 2500 yen --Other information-- Visit date and time: Weekday, 18:30 Seating: Almost full Waiting: None Wait time: None - The view is moderately good - Dusk is especially recommended - It's often empty, but recently it has gotten a bit crowded You can enjoy drinking alcohol slowly with this view. It's a great place to relax for a date or at the end of the day. The seating is mostly sofa seats, making it a very comfortable space to spend time in. Thank you for the delicious drinks.

It's true, I really liked it. The sky is so wide. The ceiling has shiny visuals. 100% grapefruit juice, 440 yen. It was a generous size. I love the taste of grapefruit juice. The sweetness and bitterness. I went early so I could enjoy the time. Overall, it was really great.

This time, I visited the cafe & bar "Bar Panorama" located inside the Grand Cinema Sunshine in Ikebukuro. --Drinks received today-- Original Mojito, Gin Buck Total cost around 2000 yen. This place is a hidden gem for dates, where you can enjoy drinks while overlooking the night view. Most of the seats are sofa seats, so you can relax comfortably. Also, the location is great as it is on top of Grand Cinema Sunshine (I believe it's on the 12th floor), so you can enjoy a drink after watching a movie. Besides drinks, they also offer pizza and snacks, making it suitable for bar time or cafe time. Since it's a hidden gem, the seats are relatively empty, so I recommend visiting after watching a movie. Thank you for the delicious drinks!!! Other information: Visit date... Weekday 17:00 Waiting time... None

Top Gun: Maverick for the 7th time. Probably the last time chasing Top Gun. The final time had to be at the IMAX in Grand Cinema Sunshine! The theater here has a large screen, great impact, easy viewing, and it's really good! The trailers are minimal and only show interesting and carefully selected ones. I visited on a weekday night. It was my first time visiting Bar Panorama at night, and I was worried it might be crowded, but when I arrived an hour before the screening, there were plenty of empty seats. I ordered the elusive Bianca Ham Serrano Pizza for 1130 yen (excluding tax). Even though it's a frequently sold out item, they had it! Bianca pizza means white because it doesn't use the typical red tomato sauce. The pizza has dough, cheese, ham, and vegetables. The ham used is not Ham Serrano (Spanish ham), but rather a ham that lacks the unique flavor of European ham. It tastes more like ham from a domestic manufacturer found in supermarkets. It is topped with plenty of leafy greens. Bar Panorama at night has changing brightness due to the video flowing on the ceiling, making it difficult to see when cutting the pizza. The Bianca Ham Serrano is the simplest pizza at Bar Panorama, and I like it. The pizza dough tastes like a flattened ciabatta. I also ordered a glass of white wine for 410 yen (excluding tax) and enjoyed it while looking at the night view. The video on the ceiling at Bar Panorama turns into fireworks 20 minutes before the screening time. At other times, movie trailers are shown. Watching the trailers, I thought I'd like to see "Black Panther/Wakanda Forever" in November and "Avatar: Way of Water" in December in IMAX. I'm completely captivated by the IMAX at Grand Cinema Sunshine. In the end, I watched Top Gun: Maverick 7 times. When I first watched it, I thought it was just a movie with Tom Cruise looking cool, but I never thought I would watch it so many times. The first time was suspenseful, but knowing it had a happy ending, I could watch it comfortably from the second time onwards. The reasons I kept watching were: it has a happy ending, no gruesome scenes, no intense love scenes, beautiful visuals, and the scene where everyone celebrates the success of their friends. I don't see many movies with scenes where a large group celebrates joyfully, so it made me feel really happy. I also love the football scenes and seeing a large group enjoying together in the theater... I think that's why I watched Maverick multiple times. Also, seeing Tom Cruise, an older guy, outperforming younger people and excelling in his job, probably tickles the motivation of people in the same generation. The hand signals used by those working in the sky were also cool! The combination of IMAX at Grand Cinema Sunshine and Bar Panorama is my way of relaxing. I will continue to use it in the future.

I visited on a weekday afternoon, about 40 minutes before the screening time. Since there was still time before the screening, I couldn't enter through the escalator, so I took the elevator to the 12th floor. The seats were about 20% filled, so I could choose any seat I wanted! During the hot season, seats that are not in direct sunlight are popular, but I prefer seats with a good view, so I chose a corner seat. Unfortunately, they did not have the ◇Prosciutto & Cheese Plate◇ or the Pizza Bianca Ham Serrano, which I wanted to try. I have visited four times and they did not have these two items, so I think they are probably not available rather than sold out. This time, I ordered the ◆Pizza Prosciutto Bismarck for 1,130 yen (excluding tax). I thought the Margherita pizza was simple, but it had a lot of cheese and tomato sauce, so I avoided it, and the Shrimp Genovese probably had a lot of cheese as well? So, I chose the most simple option, the Prosciutto Bismarck. It was indeed a simple pizza with plenty of (not authentic) prosciutto and a half-cooked egg. There were no vegetables, the cheese amount was not too much, and there was no sauce, so I think it avoids excessive salt and fat. With no sauce, the taste of the dough is easy to understand. It's not the dough of a pizzeria, nor the taste of delivery pizza, but more like the flavor of a "high-end frozen pizza" priced between 500-1000 yen per piece. The dough was like a hard white bread, with a good texture and no crispy crust or aroma. Compared to other pizzas, the absence of sauce makes the crust more prominent. If you don't like the crust without strong flavors, you might end up leaving a lot behind. I also ordered a glass of red wine for 410 yen (excluding tax). Coffee and wine were the same price! So, I chose wine. If you want a chilled wine, I recommend white. ----- The food is within the range of "concession" tastes, the interior of the restaurant is not particularly impressive, and the view is not breathtaking, but if you choose the right time, it's a relaxed place where you can eat by the window while looking at the sky. I wouldn't recommend it to others, but at least I like this place. Skipping work, drinking wine, enjoying the view, and then watching IMAX, it feels like a luxurious time. The IMAX at Grand Cinema Sunshine is truly impressive, and it's my favorite theater to the point where I take a day off work just to come here. I think there is no theater better than this. The best flow is to leisurely use the Bar Panorama before watching IMAX. The first time I watched "Avatar," the visuals were beyond imagination! It was worth watching in real IMAX! Regardless of whether it's my favorite movie, it may be the "most perfect work" I've seen so far. "Avatar: James Cameron 3D Remastered" is being released nationwide in theaters for a limited two-week period from September 23, 2022 (Fri, holiday) to October 6, 2022 (Thu), so be sure to watch it in IMAX 3D! It's a long 166 minutes, but I strongly believe that this is a movie that should be watched in theaters, not on DVD.

I accompanied my movie-loving husband to watch two movies in a row on the IMAX screen. We took a break of about 30 minutes in between, so we had a light lunch here. I bought the Meatball Mozzarella Panini, which I have eaten a few times before and never disappointed. I realized that it is made by folding the pizza dough in half, which gives it a sense of value compared to just ordering pizza. I also ordered something like fried chicken and potatoes. The boneless chicken was easy to eat, and the potatoes were perfectly seasoned and fluffy, making it a good deal. The view is amazing, so even when not watching a movie, it's nice to gaze outside while enjoying a drink. They offer a variety of drinks like beer, wine, sangria, cocktails, etc. If you're looking for a good deal on drinks, potatoes, and popcorn while watching an IMAX movie, I recommend stopping by the 4th floor first to buy cheaper items before heading up to the 12th floor.

Last summer, I went out to eat with my sister. The menu wasn't very extensive, but the food was delicious. After watching a movie, it seemed like many couples were having meals. We enjoyed our meal while watching the sky gradually change colors. The reflection of fireworks on the glass from the diagonal monitor was lovely, making it seem like fireworks were actually going off. It was just a bit cold due to the strong air conditioning. I wish the menu had more variety.

I visited Bar Panorama in Ikebukuro, which has a nice view, to relax before watching a movie. The place was almost full, probably because it was a Wednesday cinema day and "Top Gun Maverick" was about to be shown in the IMAX theater. I tried to order the Parma ham & cheese plate and the pizza with prosciutto, but they were sold out. So, I ended up ordering the Margherita pizza, which was quite filling with lots of cheese and tomato sauce. It was served uncut, so I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. I also ordered a glass of white wine, which was refreshing and generous in portion. Overall, the pizza was better than cheap Italian family restaurant versions. The movie "The Shawshank Redemption" was good but had violent and gun scenes, so it may not be suitable for children.

I watched "Top Gun: Maverick" in Dolby-ATMOS at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya, then in IMAX at 109 Cinemas Kawasaki, and I became curious about 4DX, so I decided to go to Ikebukuro. As of June 2022, it's very difficult to get a seat for "Top Gun: Maverick [4DXSCREEN subtitles]" at Grand Cinema Sunshine. There are only four theaters in Japan that combine various features of 4DX and Screen X, and they are located in Ikebukuro and Minami-Machida. I tried to reserve tickets online at midnight on Friday for a Sunday screening, but they were already sold out before midnight, with only members being able to secure seats. Weekdays are easier to get seats, but the best seats are usually taken by members. If you try hard after midnight, you may be able to get seats at the back of the theater that are not taken by members. However, even those seats can be taken by someone else clicking faster. What remains are usually seats in the front row. It was my first time at Grand Cinema Sunshine, and I was surprised to learn that Ikebukuro has a theater like this with a variety of features. It's said to be very crowded on weekends. I visited on a weekday afternoon, and the theater was only about 20% full. Window seats were also available. I secured a seat at the Sky Lounge first and then ordered from the Bar Panorama. The "Ham and Cheese Plate" I wanted was sold out, which made me wonder if they only prepare a limited number of servings. I ended up ordering the "Tomato Mozzarella Short Pasta" for 900 yen (excluding tax). After finishing my meal, I took the elevator down to the 5th floor and showed my movie ticket to proceed to the theaters on the 6th floor and above. The atmosphere was quiet, and the call bell was loud, making it difficult to know when to stop it. Many people seemed to have the same issue. The Short Pasta was served on a ceramic plate, and I couldn't tell if it tasted like frozen pasta since I had never tried it before. It was soft, with some parts being warm. It was different from Italian restaurant pasta but still tasty. The Espresso was served in a paper cup for 400 yen (excluding tax) and the amount was smaller than a regular coffee but more than a typical Espresso. It wasn't authentic, but being able to enjoy a decent Espresso at a movie theater, especially from Costa Coffee, was nice. I thought Costa Coffee was only available at TOHO Cinemas, so it was a pleasant surprise.

Bar Panorama located on the 12th floor of Ikebukuro Grand Cinema Sunshine offers light snacks, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages. This was my first time visiting the 12th floor, and I was surprised to find such a place here. It is located next to the IMAX theater. I was planning to watch two movies back-to-back, so I had some time to spare after the first movie. I decided to enjoy a sangria while looking at the night view. The ceiling had projection mapping with shooting stars like in space, which created a great atmosphere. I don't remember the exact price of the sangria, but it was around 600 yen. It was a reasonable price considering the ambiance. The sangria was filled with raspberries, blackberries, cranberries, and topped with mint leaves. It looked very picturesque. I had a relaxing time looking at the Ikebukuro night view. I think this place is perfect for a date or a girls' night out.

On the upper floors of the Grand Cinema, there is a place called BAR PANORAMA where you can enjoy a meal with a view. The atmosphere is similar to the observation deck of the Central Cathedral on the 95th floor. I recently started going to the movie theater more often, with screenings of 2205 and SAO Progressive. Since new theaters are opening in Ikebukuro, I decided to try out the latest facilities there. I bought a ticket for SAO movie with premium seats and 700 yen worth of food, so I thought I'd check out the upper floors. The view is nice, but it can get hot during the day with the strong sunlight. The ceiling constantly displays some kind of video, and the menu offers a variety of options including pasta and drinks. I tried the panini, which was delicious. Overall, it was a good experience, but it might be distracting to eat while watching a movie, so I recommend finishing your food before the movie starts.

I visited a restaurant located on the 12th floor of Grand Sunshine Cinema Ikebukuro during the day. This floor has only one IMAX screen. It can be considered a restaurant for IMAX viewers. As far as I remember, in Tokyo, this is the only place with a proper-sized IMAX screen. The view from the 12th floor is decent, as there are hardly any taller buildings around. I ordered the Tomato Mozzarella Spaghetti for 1,000 yen and an Iced Cafe Latte for 450 yen. I could choose the type of noodles. I was given a buzzer and when it rang, I had to go pick up my order myself. It didn't take long for the buzzer to ring. The spaghetti tasted average, nothing special. It's more suitable for passing time while sipping on a drink.

"Ikebukuro's new commercial facility, Q plaza. Centered around the movie theater, Grand Cinema Sunshine, it offers a variety of establishments from restaurants to batting centers. On the 12th floor of this building, there is an Italian bar operated by Grand Cinema Sunshine. I decided to check it out, even though I wasn't going to watch a movie. The location is at the corner of Sunshine Street, a short walk from the East exit of Ikebukuro Station, near the Mitsubishi UFJ Bank. What I ordered: - Gorgonzola Carbonara Pasta S @1000 - Iced Cafe Latte @450 The view of Ikebukuro from the large windows was impressive, with many tall buildings around. I approached the order counter, where I saw a variety of cafe menu items such as pasta, pizza, and panini. I also noticed that bringing food and drinks into the movie theater was allowed. On this hot day, I decided to go for an Iced Cafe Latte, which was refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. The Gorgonzola Carbonara Pasta was well-prepared, with a rich cheese flavor. As I enjoyed my drink by the window, I looked up to see movie announcements being projected onto the ceiling. It was quite entertaining and added to the overall experience. Overall, I had a pleasant time at this cafe and I think it could be a great hidden gem for a casual hangout or pre-movie drink, once alcohol restrictions are lifted. "

Located at the East Exit of Ikebukuro, Grand Cinema Sunshine is a movie theater on the 4th floor, with a lounge on the 12th floor offering a panoramic view of Ikebukuro's cityscape through its glass walls. They serve authentic Italian dishes, cafe menus, and a variety of shop items. The seating includes sofa seats and tables for two along the windows, where you can order at the shop counter and enjoy your food and drinks. I only had a drink while waiting for a movie, and I enjoyed the spacious and uncrowded lounge with a great view. It's a hidden gem that can be enjoyed even without watching a movie, but I hesitate to recommend it in order to keep it from getting too crowded.

I thought it would be expensive because it's a sky lounge, but the spaghetti with meatballs in tomato sauce was only 1,100 yen before tax. I also had a glass of red wine for 400 yen before tax. After the meal, I had a cafe latte for 450 yen before tax. It must be reasonably priced because it's self-service.
