食いしん坊のピヨ
We made a reservation for the weekend and visited the restaurant with our family. Although we hadn't decided on a course or a la carte, we opted for the duck breast course. This is a long-established restaurant that my husband's family has been a regular at for generations. I had been curious about it since being told how delicious it was, and I was finally taken there. The exterior of the restaurant is lovely, with a traditional Ginza atmosphere that has been preserved despite being renovated. It's located on the ground floor of a building in Ginza, and the ambiance is great, which gets you excited! The inside of the restaurant has about 30 table seats on the 1st floor and around 15 counter seats. We were seated in a semi-private area with sturdy partitions, suitable for 8 people, or a partition that can accommodate two groups of 4. We were tempted by the a la carte options, but decided to go with the course menu. Each person could choose their own grilled vegetables, and there were plenty of options to choose from. Some of the options included asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, large green peppers, snap peas, and cherry tomatoes. Now, onto the course! (Aside from the vegetable dish and the final dish, everything else was skewers) - Appetizers: Pickles, grated radish, and three types of miso were served, which was surprisingly luxurious. The miso was delicious and paired well with sake. - Grilled duck and chicken wings: The duck was tender and delicious! The grilling, seasoning, and charcoal aroma were exquisite, showcasing not only the quality of the ingredients but also the skills of the long-established restaurant. The chicken wings were crispy and tasty! The meat was firm and juicy, making it easy to eat, showing great hospitality. - Ginkgo nuts: The timing of this dish was just right. We listened to a heartwarming story about ginkgo nuts from my husband's family. - Grilled chicken liver, chicken with leeks, and chicken meatballs: The chicken with leeks was what we call "negima". It had a different texture compared to the chicken wings, with crispy skin and a satisfying flavor. The grilled chicken liver, which I love, was small and plentiful. It was cooked to a firm texture with a nice sear, without being dry or having any unpleasant smell. And the chicken meatballs were outstanding. They appeared ordinary in the photos, but they were soft and had a melt-in-your-mouth texture when eaten. The grilling was excellent, with a delightful aroma and crispy texture on the surface. - Duck breast: The long-awaited main dish! The meat was so big! The first duck was already satisfying, but the impact of this dish was completely different! Wrapping it in seaweed with wasabi was like a kaiseki dish rather than yakitori. The aroma was wonderful, the texture was great, and the umami flavor was amazing. It's a dish that makes you want to eat more. - Signature dry curry: When I heard "dry curry", I imagined something like keema curry. However, it was different from what I expected (laughs). The dry curry was more like a curry pilaf. The firmness of the rice, the aroma of the curry, and the meat inside were delicious, and the overall dish was excellent. It was so delicious that I finished my portion and ended up sharing some (laughs). - Dessert: Yuzu sherbet for a refreshing finish. I think there was also some yuzu peel in it. The sake we had this time was beer for the first drink, and then the "Signature Pure Silver Hot Sake" from the second drink onwards! We had a unique Japanese sake where it was poured from a pure silver pot into a glass while still hot, which was an interesting performance. I was curious about how amazing it would be to pour it with the surface tension... Engrossed in conversation, I hardly had a chance to talk to the staff, but their service was attentive and flawless. It was a nice restaurant perfect for a family meal! Visit Rating: 3.53
