The restaurant opens at 5:00 pm at night, and if you make a reservation for entry by 6:00 pm, you will be accommodated. I made a reservation and entered the restaurant just before 6:00 pm. The restaurant has an L-shaped counter surrounding the grilling area and kitchen, as well as table seating behind. The space is compact, so it's best to travel light as handling large bags or coats might be a bit challenging, especially in winter. I tried the grilled eel and eel bowl (small), both of which were small but satisfyingly flavorful. Watching the eel being grilled in front of me may have added to the enjoyment. Luckily, they still had grilled eel liver available. It seems they can run out of certain dishes. We also had the classic potato salad as a side dish with 2 servings of hot sake, and the bill came to around ¥10,000 for 2 people. Amazing value for money. We arrived early with a reservation but noticed a line forming outside while we were eating. We decided not to linger and left promptly. However, we saw a group inside who had finished their meal but were still loudly enjoying drinks. It seemed like they were occupying the table for a long time. The restaurant caters to both those who want to enjoy delicious eel quickly and those who want to use it as an izakaya, so the operation must be quite challenging. Additionally, there were foreign customers who were given English menus and served by staff who could communicate in English. Although the restaurant may not appear welcoming to foreign visitors at first glance, it likely has been listed in overseas guidebooks as an eel restaurant that accommodates English speakers.

The cooking style was said to be Kansai-style, but it was not as crispy as Kansai-style, it was fluffy and I liked it! The sauce was a bit strong, personally I prefer it a bit lighter. ⭐️5⭐️ I want to go back. I love it so much that I don't want to tell anyone. ⭐️4⭐️ I would recommend this place if asked. ⭐️3⭐️ I might go again. ⭐️2⭐️ Hmm, I'd prefer to try a different restaurant if possible. ⭐️1⭐️ Personally, I do not recommend it. 🚺 instagram @tokyo_gourmet_yokutaberuko Eating Log - A girl who eats a lot / Tokyo Gourmet Instagram only introduces restaurants with a rating of 4 or 5 stars on Eating Log ✨

The store opens at 11:30. There is a line before opening. There are only 18 seats, so it is recommended to line up before opening. The lunch menu only has eel rice and grilled eel liver, no evening dishes. They serve alcohol. They come to refill your tea before it runs out, which is considerate. I like Kansai-style food, so I want to go back again.

I discovered the deliciousness of Kansai-style eel with this hearty and satisfying kabayaki. I visited several popular restaurants in Osaka during my visit, but their eel dishes were surprisingly light and fluffy. However, the eel at this restaurant was exceptional!

I had an eel rice bowl (pine) for 4,500 yen and a bottle of beer (Ebisu) for 700 yen at "Hyotanya 6-chome store" in Ginza. It was delicious. *It seems that the prices have been raised since the second half of July 2023. *The eel here is Kansai style. *The location is on a back street of GINZA SIX.

Located a 3-minute walk from Ginza Station on various Tokyo Metro lines and a 2-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Toei Asakusa Line, this restaurant is situated behind GINZA SIX. It offers Kansai-style eel dishes in Ginza. There is a difference in preference between Kanto-style steamed eel and Kansai-style grilled eel. On this day, I dined here for a business meeting. I had the Unagi Ju (grilled eel over rice) for 3,900 yen. The thick eel is grilled in Kansai style, providing a chewy texture with a satisfying bounce and elasticity. It was delicious, leaving me fully satisfied with a belly full of eel.

Place: Ginza SIX, backstreet. Street-level store. Customers of all ages and genders. Saw several elderly regulars. Many foreign tourists. The taste of the charcoal grilling is irresistible, with a crispy and flavorful finish. The skin is grilled thoroughly. The sauce is sharp. The rice is delicious! The rice is cooked to perfection, with each grain firm and not sticky, perhaps even better than some high-end sushi restaurants. Oh my, next time I'll come at night. I want to enjoy a blissful time with snacks and drinks.

I visited a restaurant I had been wanting to go to for a while. They serve Kansai-style grilled eel, which was very delicious with tender meat. I would like to come back again. Next time, I would like to visit at night. They had a good selection of appetizers, so I enjoyed some while having a drink, and finished with an eel rice bowl.

Sitting at the counter, you can see the seasoned craftsman carefully grilling the food, which really stimulates your appetite. It's a shame that the prices have gone up, probably due to the rising cost, but the taste is worth it. Lately, there seems to be more foreign customers, so it's getting even busier.

I visited this restaurant for lunch for the first time. It is quietly nestled in a side street off Miyuki Street, just a little past Mizuho, Jangara, and Abura Soba. The atmosphere of the restaurant is charming. I was able to enter without waiting as there was a good timing for seating. I ordered the Unagi (eel) rice bowl. It arrived in less than 10 minutes and the portion of eel was quite generous for the price. The eel was well-prepared with no small bones to worry about. The rice was cooked perfectly and the sauce was just the right balance of sweet and savory. The dish had a satisfying amount of oil as well. The only downside was that the soup was not made with eel liver and there was no Nara pickles in the side dish, which left me slightly wanting. Overall, I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal. I would like to visit for dinner next time.

I went to lunch with friends and the other four people were all foreigners. I think it's because we were in Ginza SIX, where there are many tourists from overseas. I had the unagi (eel) rice bowl for 3700 yen, and I think it's a good value for this price in Ginza.

Finally tried out a BM restaurant in the Ginza area. The place was recommended by Hiroshi Fujiwara in the media as a spot where you can enjoy delicious Kansai-style eel in Tokyo. Unlike Kanto-style eel which is steamed before grilling, here they grill it directly over charcoal from the start, resulting in a crispy and fragrant surface while the inside remains fluffy. The eel is packed with sweet and fatty flavors that come out as you chew, yet surprisingly not overwhelming due to the charcoal grilling. The eel pairs perfectly with the generous amount of rice served. Truly delicious eel. Evidently, Kansai-style eel is the way to go. And to top it off, the fact that this is located right in the heart of Ginza at such reasonable prices is astounding. The appetizer menu is also extensive, with many customers enjoying eel and other dishes with sake. Next time, I look forward to leisurely enjoying some sake. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Whatever you order, it's always delicious. The eel was fantastic, and the yakitori was also amazing. Surprisingly, it's reasonably priced even though it doesn't match the local area. It's a shame that they close early and only accept cash, but regardless, I would love to visit this place again!

I stopped by for lunch after visiting the beauty salon. It was very good value and the rice was just the right firmness and delicious. It wasn't steamed, but it was soft and tasty. I would like to try it in a bento box next time. (^^)

I was recommended to visit this popular restaurant in Tokyo by an acquaintance, so I decided to stop by while I was in town for errands. I arrived around 11:40 am, just 10 minutes after they opened. The counter had a couple of seats available, but the tables were all full. Despite the small size of the restaurant, it was clear that it was a popular spot. I decided to try their limited quantity lunch special, the eel bowl. I had heard it was around 1800 yen, but due to inflation, it had gone up to 2000 yen. I watched as they grilled the eel right in front of me, which took about 30 minutes due to the restaurant being almost full since opening. The eel was grilled perfectly to my liking, with a crispy exterior and tender interior. It had a good amount of fat and a great eel flavor. However, the sauce was a bit lacking in sweetness and tasted more like soy sauce. As someone who usually enjoys sweeter and richer eel dishes from Nagoya, I found it a bit unsatisfying. I didn't eat much of the rice either, as I'm not someone who eats a lot of rice. But for those who prefer a less sweet sauce, the quality of the eel itself is definitely worth a try.

I visited during the daytime on a regular day. When I arrived a few minutes before opening, there was already a line. Surprisingly, the interior of the restaurant was larger than I had imagined, and the line quickly disappeared once the restaurant opened. I chose to sit at the most lively counter seat. I ordered the "Unagi Donburi (2,000 yen)" for lunch. I watched the owner as he grilled the eel. He skillfully grilled the eel over charcoal, brushing on sauce, grilling again, and letting it rest. He repeated this process with a sense of mastery. The timing he used to finish the dish was unique and unknown to amateurs like myself. After about 15 minutes, the dish was served. It was delicious. The eel was fragrant, juicy, and tender without being steamed. The slightly sweet and refreshing soy-based sauce paired perfectly with it. It was a delightful meal, especially considering it only cost 2,000 yen. It was understandable why there was a line before opening. Although the owner's appearance was quite casual compared to other chefs, his skills were truly impressive. I would like to try the Unagi served in a box next time. Thank you for the meal.

The appetizer with cashew nuts has a rich flavor and enjoyable texture. The white miso with shirako and ponzu sauce has a light texture with a rich aftertaste. The liver with sansho pepper is delicious. The meal ends with an amazing eel rice bowl. Starting with beer, moving on to shochu, and finishing with sake, my stomach and heart are both satisfied.

Around 19:30 on a regular day, I visited the restaurant without a reservation. When I opened the door, the place was filled with smoke and the table seats were all taken, creating a lively atmosphere. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter. They offered three types of eel rice bowls: "Matsu (4200 yen)", "Take (3700 yen)", and "Ume (3000 yen)". In addition to eel dishes like grilled eel and eel liver, they also had dishes like bluefin tuna sashimi and izakaya-style small plates. They also had sake options like "Nabeshima (Junmai Ginjo)" and "Shimeharitsuru (Junmai Ginjo)". I wasn't planning on drinking that day, so I ordered the "Eel Rice Bowl (Matsu)" as it was. The eel, which had been filleted and skewered in advance, was grilled after I placed my order. After about 10 minutes of waiting, it arrived. The "Eel Rice Bowl (Matsu)" consisted of one and a half eels. The eel had a crispy and browned surface, with a chewy and elastic texture. It was not too fatty and had a relatively light taste. The sauce was slightly spicy with a good soy sauce flavor. The amount of rice was a bit on the smaller side compared to the eel portion. Additionally, they served pickles and soup, but the soup was not eel liver soup. To have a proper eel meal at this price in Ginza was quite impressive.

At 5 pm in Ginza, I called "Hyotanya" to make a reservation for the evening. They were fully booked, but it seems like you can wait in line, so since it's still early, of course, I'll line up. The ginkgo trees lining the street are shining in golden colors under the evening sun, what a wonderful season it is. I'm a bit worried about the 8th wave of COVID, but it seems like foreign tourists are gradually returning to the streets of Ginza. There are about 3-4 groups waiting in line at "Hyotanya" who couldn't make advance reservations. We are at the front of the line. The Korean couple behind us is visiting Japan for the first time in about 3 years, and they mentioned that they also ate eel at this restaurant during their last visit. The staff at the restaurant is fluent in English. Truly impressive! This eel restaurant in Ginza feels very reasonable. This time, I ordered the "Take" eel set for 3700 yen. The eel is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a subtle sauce and plenty of rice. It's very delicious. I feel rejuvenated. The miso soup and pickles have a gentle taste that soothes me. I'm full and very satisfied. After that, as I stroll around Ginza, I see a red open-top bus running through the streets of Ginza. There are many tourists on board. Hopefully, things will get even better soon. That's what I wish for.

I ordered the "shiroyaki" and "ojyu" set. By the time I finished the "shiroyaki," the "ojyu" was ready for me. The "shiroyaki" had a crispy skin and a firm texture, very delicious. The pieces in the "ojyu" were small and easy to eat. I thought it might be even better if the pieces were thicker, but considering it's in Ginza, the price was reasonable.

I didn't make a reservation when the restaurant opened, but I was warmly seated at the counter. The eel is grilled after taking the order, so I waited about 10 minutes for it to be ready. I ordered the "Matsu" eel bowl, which had a thick and satisfying whole eel. The sauce is on the spicier side, which I found just right for me. I also ordered the grilled eel liver, which was enough for five servings and also very satisfying. I definitely want to go back again.
