The warabi mochi is really smooth and delicious. It's not too heavy and easy to drink, maybe because of the matcha. You can also taste a slight bitterness which makes it refreshing. I've bought warabi mochi from other stores before, but I think it's tastier to drink than to eat. It's reasonably priced at 600 yen.

Certainly, it is located near the entrance of Torori Broadway. Was it warm? I don't remember. I've been hesitating about whether to buy it in Shinbashi for quite some time. I'll finally buy it. It seems that the black honey is sold separately. I don't need it, so I'll just have it as it is. It is certainly soft. When you lift it, it stretches, and eventually it breaks. So it's not the type with a chewy or resilient texture, but just really soft. The melt-in-your-mouth texture is very fast, and the smoothness might be quite unique. Black honey, whether it's there or not, doesn't really matter.

I used this shop located about a 5-minute walk from the station, advancing through Nakano Sun Mall. This time, I visited around 9:30 PM. Most traditional Japanese sweets shops usually close around this time, but this one stays open until 10 PM. It may be a bit hard to find as it's slightly off the main street, but it's a convenient shop. They also accept various electronic payments and credit cards. I bought matcha-flavored warabi mochi this time. The expiration date is until the next day, and although the quantity is large, the package is big and priced around 800 yen, making it quite difficult to share with others. However, after trying it, I found that the matcha flavor was authentic with a strong bitterness, which I personally enjoyed. I initially thought that the warabi mochi would be the main focus with a hint of matcha aroma, but in reality, the matcha flavor was strong with a significant bitterness, and the sweetness of the warabi mochi seemed to balance it out. Therefore, for those who love warabi mochi, it may not be as satisfying, but for matcha lovers, it would be irresistible. I personally liked the taste, but I feel that the matcha flavor might be a bit overpowering, hence the rating I gave.

As a child, it reminded me of the starch my parents used to make... so similar things can be made for about 10 yen in cost. #sweets #Thank you for the meal #dessert #gourmet #foodie #sweets lover #foodie

My friend said that when drinking, they crave sweet things! They really wanted to eat a Beard Papa cream puff from the next door, but ended up buying a cup of something they could eat while walking around! As the name suggests, it had kinako (roasted soybean flour) and a gooey honey-like texture. I took a bite, and it was... yeah! It was chewy and delicious! But one bite was my limit... it was soooo sweet!

There was a new Japanese-style sweets shop near the entrance of Broadway, and I bought the smallest size of warabi mochi as my wife requested. When I tried it, the mochi was soft and slimy like slime, similar to kuzumochi (although my wife pointed out that it was warabi mochi, and I must admit I couldn't tell the difference). I was told that the syrup was sold separately, so I bought it thinking it was necessary, but maybe the kinako powder was included (not confirmed, so unsure). Personally, I think I could eat it with just kinako powder, but without kinako powder or black syrup, it might be too plain. I don't remember experiencing a case where the condiments for this type of food were sold separately, so I was confused when suddenly told they were sold separately, but I guess it could be eco-friendly depending on the situation. The mochi was chewy and wonderful. The amount of kinako powder and black syrup provided was just right. When I had Kaga Ondango from Furuya Kogaen before, I felt the same way, that I usually prefer Western sweets but Japanese sweets are still great. This has now been added to my list of sweets I want to eat again. There was also a Beard Papa cream puff shop nearby, and I was surprised to learn that both shops are operated by the same company! It's surprising because they are completely different genres (I also like Beard Papa).

A new warabi mochi shop opened at the back of Nakano Station's shopping street (just before Nakano Broadway). The warabi mochi is soft like glue, scooped up and dusted with kinako powder before eating. It has a slightly tricky texture but the unique chewiness and exquisite sweetness of the warabi mochi might become addictive. It could be a well-received souvenir gift.

A shop specializing in freshly made bracken rice cakes opened in Nakano Sun Mall on December 20, 2022! It is a shop belonging to the MUGINOHO group! * Silky bracken rice cake Plain small 330 yen Buy a bracken rice cake for one person! Black honey is extra. It was a sticky and chewy rice cake that can be easily eaten by one person as the name suggests (*´꒳`*) Food review rating (as of December 2022) - stars!

It is about a 5-minute walk from the north exit of the station. It is located near the entrance to Broadway. Instead of a clock shop, there are now two shops selling "Warabi Mochi" and "Cream Puffs". These shops are operated by a long-established traditional Japanese confectionery shop called Yoshishokukaryo in Kyoto. We ordered the "Walnut" flavor (680 yen). The freshly made Warabi Mochi has a perfect softness, with the gentle flavors of kinako (soybean flour) and black honey standing out. The walnuts inside add a fragrant nuttiness and a crunchy texture to enjoy. The elegant packaging also makes it a great souvenir. They use high-quality ingredients like kinako and walnuts, but personally, I found it a bit too refined for my taste. I wished the Warabi Mochi had a bit more chewiness, but overall, it was too elegant for me (laughs).

Yataro, who was walking unsteadily from the other side, was spotted by Yagoro, a carpenter who lived in the same tenement. Yagoro: "Hey, isn't that Yataro? You seem to be walking eagerly. What's in that shopping bag you're carrying?" Yataro: "Oh, Yasan the carpenter. This is some kind of Japanese confectionery I bought in Nakano." Yagoro: "You bought it yourself and you don't even know what it is. Let me see it for a moment." Yataro: "You can look at it, but you can't eat it." Yagoro: "Oh, it's in a fancy box. This must be warabi mochi." Yataro: "Yes, yes, yes, yes, it's from a new store that just opened." Yagoro: "That new store is in Nakano, right?" Yataro: "Yes, but it's a bit of a unique design store." Yagoro: "What's so different about it?" Yataro: "It's right on the corner of the street, with a Beard Papa cream puff shop on the left and a warabi mochi shop called Kinako Torori on the right, and it seems like the inside of the stores are connected in a strange way." Yagoro: "Ah, I see. They're running two different stores side by side under the same management." Yataro: "So that's a way of doing business." Yagoro: "Do you know what that kind of business practice is called?" Yataro: "What do you call that kind of practice?" Yagoro: "You don't have much education, do you? Well, I'll teach you specially. It's called 'Two Birds with One Stone', remember that."

It's perfect for hot days, but I also want to drink it on cooler days. I'm curious about the matcha flavor. I didn't realize it, but it's the warabi mochi from Kyoto's Yoshikura Karyo! It's definitely delicious, right? ♡
