I used it for lunch on July 12, 2023. I wandered around Daimon area during lunchtime. I found a udon restaurant that seemed to be crowded with customers. I entered the restaurant before 1 pm, and there were about 5 groups of customers inside. The burdock tempura udon seemed to be popular. The customer next to me was also eating a big burdock, but it was hot that day, so I opted for a cold dish. I ordered the cold Nikudama Udon (950 yen) and the Kashiwa Omusubi (180 yen). The udon had beef, soft-boiled egg, green onions, and seaweed on top. The udon noodles were close to flat noodles and had a chewy texture. I finished it in no time... I should have ordered a large portion, haha. The Kashiwa Omusubi is a type of rice dish with chicken (kashiwa) and vegetables from the Fukuoka region. It was very delicious with the flavors soaked in! I wanted to eat 2 or 3 more of these because they were so delicious! I hope this information is helpful.

I tried Hakata Udon for the first time. It was a bit soft and gentle, but the savory flavor was solid and very delicious. The Gobo Tempura was crispy. There were also many types of appetizers to go with the drinks, so I would like to try them next time. I will visit again.

This is a specialty where you can feel Fukuoka. Hakata udon is not just soft, but it also has a chewy texture at the end, which is its characteristic. The broth and green onions make you think, "Yes, this is it!" The udon here is delicious. Not only the udon, but the motsunabe is also delicious with careful preparation, not greasy. The only thing is that it's a bit disappointing that the pork belly doesn't have onions sandwiched in between. The pork belly itself is very tasty though... I might have missed if there were onion skewers, so I'll check next time.

I tried cold toro-tama udon for 800 yen. I happened to come across this place while walking from Zojoji Temple towards Hamamatsucho Station. It was my first time trying Hakata udon, and it was completely different from Sanuki udon as it lacked firmness, but it had a unique taste and was very delicious.

I walked from Shibadaimon to Daimon and headed towards Hamamatsucho. I noticed a shop on the corner that had caught my eye before. It was a Hakata udon izakaya. It seemed like a nice place to have a drink, but first, I decided to try their udon for lunch. I entered right after they opened and sat at the counter. It was hot outside, so I was debating between a cold udon dish or curry udon. But when it comes to Hakata udon, you can't go wrong with tempura and burdock tempura. So, I ordered the tempura and burdock tempura udon. I waited patiently for my order to be served. More customers started coming in while I waited, confirming that this was indeed a popular spot. Finally, my udon arrived. The tempura looked delicious, and the burdock tempura was quite impressive. I decided to start with the udon. It was slightly flat and soft, typical of Fukuoka-style udon. It was gentle on the stomach and had a nice texture. The burdock tempura was crispy and had a great flavor and texture. The tempura was delicious! It's true that Hakata udon with tempura is a must-try. The broth had a gentle flavor typical of Western Japan, and it paired well with the soft udon and crispy tempura. The mild flavor made it seem like it would be perfect even after having a drink. I look forward to coming back in the evening to enjoy a drink.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. The staff was managing everything alone.
Order: Gobo Tempura Beef Udon + Kashiwa Rice ¥1,130
The soft noodles from Kyushu and the taste of the broth were excellent. The tempura gobo and sweet and savory simmered beef were great toppings, creating a comforting flavor. Thank you for the meal.

The Buoy Buoy style of Goise Udon is well recognized and acceptable, but the same level of buoyancy in Fukuoka Udon is somewhat shocking. Terms like Barikata, Harigane, and Namatama, which pursue firmness, seem to deviate from the mainstream. The lack of umami in the broth and the sole focus on buoyancy unfortunately cannot be sustained.

Lunch on 05/06... I had Gobo Tempura Beef Udon for 950 yen at Hakata Udon Sakaba Kanbee in Hamamatsucho. The service was good, the food was served quickly, the taste was good, and they also provided cold water. It was in the middle of Golden Week, so there were not many open restaurants in the area. I entered with an empty stomach. The restaurant had elements to entertain guests visually and with sound (the sizzling of frying oil), which seemed to cater to foreigners. The portion size was a bit small but not unsatisfactory.

Kanpakuwai Udon (cold) for 1,100 yen. I had heard that Hakata udon is soft, but it definitely lacks the firmness compared to Sanuki udon, so it doesn't have much chewiness. Personally, I prefer udon with the kind of chewiness that Sanuki udon has. In terms of cost performance, it's a bit expensive with just two pieces of fried chicken and a soft-boiled egg on top.

On the way to Zoujyouji Temple, I stopped by for lunch without any high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the authentic taste. The noodles were soft and reminiscent of the flavors I had in Hakata during a business trip. The broth was also flavorful and delicious. I heard they also have an izakaya at night, so I would like to visit again next time.

Udon is actually for my daughter, but I jumped the gun and ordered for one person. The food was served at the counter in 4 minutes. The burdock tempura was crispy, and the fish cake tempura was a whole piece. The udon was soft, but not as soft as I had imagined. The burdock tempura was delicious both crispy and soft when dipped in the broth. The fish cake tempura was a bit too big, I prefer it cut in half vertically. The rice ball was perfect, just as it looked. I would love to take some home. It's hot but still tastes good when cold. It's perfect for drinking at night, but as a meal, it might be a bit small. Maybe getting a large portion would be better.

I had the Goboten Niku Udon. It's a specialty of Hakata, which I didn't know at all. Don't imagine it like Sanuki Udon, it's soft and fluffy. The broth is also sweet and goes well with the Goboten. It's really delicious. It was crowded during lunchtime. I could eat it every day, it's really delicious.

I'm sorry, but I didn't have high expectations at first, but the udon here was delicious! I had the lunch udon with burdock tempura, and it was tasty. The broth was delicious, and the long burdock tempura sticks were great. They were a bit difficult to eat, but that's understandable. They were also great as a snack on their own, not just dipped in the broth. The udon was also delicious. It was soft but still had a nice chewiness to it. I really enjoyed it here. And it was only 650 yen! The portion of udon may be on the smaller side, but for a lunch, it was just right for me. I will definitely go back.

Today's lunch plans were disrupted when the desired restaurant closed early, so I decided to head back to the station without eating. On the way, I stumbled upon a restaurant that seemed familiar from my bucket list. It was a Hakata udon place, so I had to go in. I sat at the counter and read through the menu. I always struggle with whether to add meat to my tempura. When meat is added, it becomes too sweet and you can't fully enjoy the broth... so today, I went with tempura udon without meat, along with a shochu highball. The tempura was a large piece of burdock root tempura, sticking out of the bowl like a skewer. The batter was just right, not too soggy even when soaked in the broth. I enjoyed this with my shochu, and then finished off with the udon. The portion of noodles was small, but I like my udon soft and chewy. I finished it in no time, thanks for the meal. Now, onto the next destination.

The crispy burdock tempura with oil adds a nice accent to the soup. The noodles are soft and chewy, making them easy to eat. The chicken rice bowl is flavorful with a nice aroma, and delicious. I will visit again. Thank you.

Entered a Hakata udon restaurant. Ordered the Hakata set (burdock tempura udon and chicken mixed rice ball). I was expecting Hakata to be more about tonkotsu and mentaiko, so it was a bit of a mystery. It cost 800 yen. The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering, which is great for a busy lunch time. The burdock had a nice crunchy texture, but the udon lacked chewiness, which was not to my liking.

Every time I passed by the shop, I was curious about Kanbei-san. It took some courage to enter alone, but I didn't need to worry about it (lol) There were also female customers entering the shop alone! The popular "Gobo Tempura Udon" was delicious with crispy fried burdock, chewy udon, and a broth that you could drink every drop of. It was delicious and gentle in taste, perfect for those who love chewy udon! I was also interested in the "Kashiwa Onigiri," but unfortunately, I had no room left in my stomach and had to reluctantly give up (T.T)

It had been about a year since my last visit. I arrived around 5:30 pm on a weekday and found a seat easily. I was torn between ordering horse sashimi or something else, but ended up choosing pork ribs and fried beef tripe as my drinking snacks. For my main dish, I couldn't decide between adding beef or not, so I went with the regular tempura udon. I plan to try a different menu item next time.

I visited this restaurant for lunch. It was my first time trying Hakata udon, and I found it to be chewy but lacking in firmness. It was also very thick! The sauce was delicious, and the tempura chicken on top was freshly fried and tasty. I was very hungry that day, so I ended up ordering an additional kashiwa onigiri. It was also delicious, so it was a good choice.

I visited around 12:30 on a warm day and it was not crowded. It had been a while since I had Fukuoka Udon. Whenever I visit Fukuoka for business, I eat Goboten Udon almost every day (*^▽^*). I ordered the Gobou Maruten Udon and it looked delicious! The softness of the udon in Fukuoka Udon is great! The dipping sauce is delicious and the maruten is thick, big, and fluffy, making it very tasty! I love the crispy Gobou Ten from "Uest," so I was a bit disappointed that the crispy texture was lacking, but overall it was a good experience.
