Last time, before the chaos of COVID, we celebrated my real father's birthday with my sister, wife, and myself. It was a year before he passed away, so I'm glad we were able to go. This time, after various struggles, we celebrated my father-in-law's birthday with my mother-in-law, wife, and myself, totaling 4 people. One thing they have in common is that they are old-fashioned men from the Showa era who can't wait elegantly for course meals. Of course, if you want to eat meat from the beginning, this is a good choice. Due to the COVID situation, they tried a buffet style when they reopened. Guests could choose their dishes freely, but for those who were worried, they still offer the option to order from a tablet. They mainly stick to the traditional format now. We enjoyed various appetizers, roast beef, and other main dishes of traditional Western cuisine, and desserts. My mother-in-law seemed to particularly like the traditional potato salad. The escargot in cream sauce and the roast pork with jasmine flavor were impressive. Today's fried dish was a cutlet, which almost led me to eat too much fried food. The roast beef and curry were reliable choices. We indulged in various desserts. We celebrated my father-in-law with a birthday cake. Some may find it a bit pricey, but that's the brand power. The service was satisfactory, although I tend to be critical due to my past experiences working in hotels. I need to be careful because guests notice everything, as the manager checking the reservation book at the reception reminded me. It's embarrassing to nitpick like that. I hope to have the luxury to celebrate family birthdays and early year-end parties like this occasionally. As a commoner, I took advantage of the 20% off on weekends and holidays for Imperial Club members around the birthday month, making it a bit more affordable and enjoyable. My in-laws were satisfied and enjoyed the meal. Let's go again. Thank you for the feast!

Renewed in August 2023, adding Japanese and Chinese cuisine to the lineup and adjusting prices. Various plans are available, but the base price for weekday dinner at 17,000 yen (tax included) is on the higher side. With the price adjustment, the customer base seems to have improved. It's unfortunate that Escargot has disappeared, but Beijing Duck, Shrimp Chili, Eel, Tempura, and other fresh offerings are now available. The presence of roast beef remains as strong as before. In particular, the Shrimp Chili surpasses buffet level quality, equivalent to or even better than specialty restaurants. The thick roast beef has practically become steak, prompting a change in dessert strategy. In my personal opinion, it may not be suitable for those concerned about cost performance. Personally, I would like to see further enhancement and thorough differentiation from others at around 20,000 yen, or thereabouts.

I made a reservation in advance through a website and decided to add the all-you-can-drink soft drink option. The drink service was done by calling the staff. I checked the menu beforehand and decided to try the roast beef, xiaolongbao, and Peking duck. The roast beef was delicious, but a bit fatty, so I recommend trying it with various condiments provided to enhance the flavor. The Peking duck was also very tasty, but the freshly made xiaolongbao may have been overhyped. The meatloaf exceeded my expectations and was incredibly delicious. The dessert selection was extensive, visually appealing, and all very tasty. I left the restaurant feeling satisfied, even though I only had lunch there without staying at the hotel. They also provided a longer parking ticket, so I was able to take a leisurely walk in Hibiya Park after the meal. Overall, I was very happy with my experience.

It is said that this restaurant was the first in Japan to introduce the all-you-can-eat buffet style, and gave it the name "Viking" 64 years ago. Although the term is not used much nowadays, for us Japanese of this generation, referring to all-you-can-eat as a "Viking" is default. Of course, it is a word that only makes sense in Japan. With that being said, I recently visited the famous Imperial Hotel buffet. With no drinks included, the price of 17,000 yen per person is quite expensive. Located on the top floor of the main building, the atmosphere is very nice. As for the food, while it is definitely a step above the 7,000-8,000 yen buffets, there was nothing particularly outstanding, and I felt that 17,000 yen was quite overpriced. Also, the fact that all drinks other than water are charged separately is questionable. With this amount of money, you could have a much more satisfying meal at any other restaurant, even without a wide variety of dishes like in a buffet. I have rarely found buffet food to be delicious, but I remember that the buffet at The Sky in Hotel New Otani was far better. I think once is enough for this place.

The taste is worth the price. I have always wanted to go to the buffet at the Imperial Hotel. It seems to have been recently renovated and now includes Chinese cuisine. Every menu exudes the luxury of a top hotel restaurant, it was a wonderful time. The roast beef was really delicious, of a quality comparable to a specialty store. The Chinese cuisine also felt like high-end Chinese, and the Peking duck was amazing.

I visited the renewed Saar restaurant from August 2023, where they have added Japanese and Chinese cuisine alongside their French and Western dishes. The dessert corner now has an expanded buffet area with a variety of cold dishes like potato salad and Japanese cold appetizers. The hot dishes have been moved to a different section, with roast beef now located at the tempura corner. Unfortunately, the escargot in cream sauce is no longer available, which was a big disappointment. However, there are new menu items like tempura, eel, meat tea-infused ramen, xiao long bao, Peking duck, and more. The roast beef station was less crowded now, making it more comfortable to enjoy. The xiao long bao is freshly steamed, with a bell ringing each time a new batch is ready. Overall, all the new menu items were delicious. The buffet now offers a wide variety of dishes that are easy to enjoy for everyone. With so many options available, it would probably take at least two visits to try everything.

The breakfast buffet attracts an international crowd with a high-class atmosphere. Everything was delicious as it was all-you-can-eat. The variety is slightly less than lunch or dinner buffets. The highlight may be the omelettes cooked by a chef right in front of you.

This hotel in Tokyo offers a buffet with delicious and elaborate dishes. The roast beef, which is commonly found in many hotel buffets, was particularly tasty here and not tough. The variety of salads was impressive, and each dish was well-crafted and enjoyable. The elegant interior of the hotel added to the overall dining experience. It may not be a casual spot, but that adds to its charm. So far, this was the best dining experience I've had in Tokyo.

I revisited 'SAL' for a solo dinner on a weekday before the significant menu revision scheduled for August 1st. The roast beef was amazing as always, and the other dishes also met my expectations. I enjoyed the free flow of wine as well. The staff were attentive and there were no guests who ruined the ambiance.

I have always wanted to visit the birthplace of the Viking buffet. It seemed like the price was going to go up soon, so I decided to go before that happened. It's quite a challenge to spend over 10,000 yen for lunch, but the top floor of the Imperial Hotel has a great view and a nice atmosphere. The food includes terrine, carpaccio, sausages, and other classic buffet items. But the highlight is definitely the delicious roast beef. The dessert selection is also extensive, but the cakes are relatively ordinary. The best part was the cherry and vanilla ice cream with cherry soaked in liqueur sauce.

Weekday lunch at 10,200 yen (including service charge) at the Imperial Hotel - as expected from the Imperial Hotel, the presentation is beautiful and everything seems to be made with high-quality ingredients. The atmosphere, view, and seating are top-notch, and the service is on a different level compared to others. However, the seasoning may not be to everyone's taste, as it is not the typical delicious flavor that everyone may enjoy. Dishes that focus on the quality of the ingredients, such as cheese, cold cuts, and carrot cream soup, were surprisingly delicious. The standout roast beef was so fatty that it was almost like high-end yakiniku beef, and it may be too rich for some people. The sauce was subtle to let the meat shine, but personally, I prefer a stronger steak sauce flavor. Overall, the quality of the ingredients was evident. In terms of service, there were some staff members who didn't quite embody the ideal of a hotelier, which was a bit disappointing considering the high price. Eating at the Imperial Hotel buffet was a dream come true for me, and I'm glad I had the experience. It was delicious, but I'm not sure if I would come back again.

The price may be high, but it seems to attract a good clientele. There were many families, but it didn't feel too noisy. The variety of dishes was impressive and well-prepared. The roast beef was delicious, but one slice was enough for me. The curry had a nice buttery flavor, but it didn't quite meet my high expectations. I was more excited about the desserts, and they did not disappoint. The small cakes were beautifully presented and tasted great. Overall, the food was not cheap, but it was definitely worth it. And I especially loved the cheese corner where I could enjoy Parmigiano and bread. It was a satisfying experience for me.

Now, it's been a while since I went to the Imperial Hotel buffet. Saturday night, of course, I had made a reservation. They started with a warm soup to prepare our stomachs. The variety of terrines for appetizers was impressive. The cold meal appetizers had a wide variety and tasted great. This time, it seemed to be peach-themed? There was peach cold pasta, peach potage, and a peach and raspberry jubilee demonstration around 6 pm. Now, the roast beef for the main course was delicious. Maybe the quality of the meat was good? It's a matter of preference, right? Most of the buffet revolves around roast beef. Apart from that, the beef stew was also very tasty. The desserts, ranging from fruits to cakes, were all delicious and had a wide variety. What's more, the classic dishes were delicious and the overall quality was high. There were no disappointments, and overall, the level was very high. It easily ranks in the top 3 of buffets. And, of course, the staff were top-notch. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself.

I revisited the Imperial Hotel with my family for the weekend dinner buffet. This time, I booked the plan with free-flowing drinks. ■ Food: There was a wide variety of dishes, but some stood out: ◯ Roast Beef: The roast beef was cooked to medium rare perfection, and I appreciated being able to choose the thickness. ◯ Escargot with Cream Sauce: The escargot in a rich sauce paired perfectly with the dry white wine. ◯ Desserts: The desserts were a highlight, but I couldn't try them all due to being full. ■ Free-flowing drinks: The buffet included beer, wine, and soft drinks. The white wine was Chateau Haut-Pelletan 2017 and the red was Chateau Des Trois Tours 2020. ■ Service: The service was attentive and we were satisfied with the overall experience. ■ Conclusion: The Imperial Hotel stands out as a unique buffet experience with a rich history. I hope they continue to excel in providing exceptional dining experiences.

Visited for a family birthday celebration. The atmosphere is somewhat family-oriented, but being a hotel that originated in 1958, the taste is undeniably delicious. Each dish has a strong and satisfying flavor that makes you want to keep eating!

Today I went to the Imperial Viking Sal at the Imperial Hotel. Instead of opting for the soft drink plan for 1200 yen, I chose a single coffee for 500 yen. You can have unlimited refills, so this was enough for me. The initial consommé soup had a rich and intense aroma. The roast beef was tender and the fat was delicious. Surprisingly, I think I liked the hashed beef the most. Personally, I prefer the Sky at Hotel New Otani, but it's nice to try buffets at other hotels once in a while.

I'm so happy to finally be able to go because I've always wanted to go. The service from the staff is truly impeccable! Perfect! There may not be a wide variety of dishes, but they are all delicious. My favorite food is definitely the roast beef. I might go back just for the roast beef!

Visit on a Friday evening at the beginning of the year. The surrounding area is fully booked by reservations. With the all-you-can-drink course, you can add whiskey and other drinks for an extra 1,000 yen. Beer is self-service from the second glass onwards, as shown in the photo, but for everything else, you order through a touch panel. As the first buffet in Japan and located at the Imperial Hotel, all the dishes offered at the buffet were delicious, especially the omelet rice, curry, and steak. For dessert, there were fruits, cakes, and even chocolate, making it a very luxurious buffet. For those with small appetites, be aware that there is a wide variety of dishes, so you may not be able to finish everything. Note that while there are many open tables, there are also private rooms towards the back.

After the break, when I visited again, I found out that coffee and tea were now charged. The lunch prices are 10,200 yen on weekdays and 12,700 yen on weekends and holidays. Dinner prices are 14,000 yen on weekdays and 16,500 yen on weekends and holidays. Children aged 4-12 are charged at a discounted rate. There is a two-hour time limit. Some menu items can be ordered from a tablet at the table without having to visit the buffet. Among the hotel buffet options, the roast beef stood out for its size and neatly sliced, with little fat and very tasty. Other highlights included butter-fried escargot, marinated seafood, and fish dishes. The omurice with cheese cream sauce was particularly delicious, with the rice mixed into the egg mixture, creating a fluffy and creamy texture. The French toast with cheese was a delightful mix of sweet and savory flavors. While the dessert cakes were nothing extraordinary, they were of a high standard for a hotel buffet. The gelato selection included vanilla, strawberry, raspberry, blood orange, mango, caramel, pistachio, and candied chestnut, all of which were delicious, with a special mention for the blood orange and mango flavors. Thank you for the meal.

I ended up staying at the Imperial Hotel again due to personal circumstances. As a result, I had breakfast at the Imperial Viking Sal on the 17th floor of the main building. It is one of the most famous breakfast buffets in Japan. I filled my table with various delicious dishes. The buffet was luxurious and tasty. However, while the Imperial Hotel's breakfast buffet used to be unparalleled, there are now many new luxurious hotels with breakfast and services that surpass it. I hope the Imperial Hotel continues to strive for excellence and maintain its position as the best in Japan.
