Yesterday, after seeing plum blossoms at Yushima Tenjin, I went to the long-established Western-style restaurant "Kurofune-tei" in Ueno. It was dinner time, so it was quite crowded, but luckily we were able to sit right away. My Darling chose the Kurofune A course, which included a rare bouillabaisse finished with white sauce, crab claw cream croquette (packed with crab meat), and hayashi rice made with demi-glace sauce that took over a week to prepare. The bouillabaisse and hayashi rice were half servings, but even my Darling, who eats a lot, was very satisfied with the amount. Actually, both my Darling and I are not big fans of hayashi rice, but the hayashi rice at Kurofune-tei was exceptional. It was rich and creamy, yet refreshing. I fulfilled my long-standing desire for shrimp and scallop gratin salad with bread and tea. The shrimp and scallops were plentiful in the béchamel sauce, which was full of shrimp flavor. It was truly blissful. Also, what was fresh was that the gratin had boiled eggs in it. They were roughly chopped into quarters, but they went really well with the dish. I'll definitely try to replicate this at home.

The quality is high, the portion is generous, and the side salad is fresh. It's a dish that leaves me completely satisfied (╹◡╹) (╹◡╹) The shrimp and scallop mix gratin is made with penne, boiled egg, shrimp, scallop, all combined in a milky béchamel sauce, topped with cheese and baked until golden brown. The shrimp and scallops are delicious, but the boiled egg adds an exquisite flavor. It's my absolute favorite gratin (╹◡╹) (╹◡╹) The service, atmosphere, everything is wonderful at my favorite Western-style restaurant. I will definitely visit again!

I took a day off for a gynecological cancer screening. Since the appointment was at 4 pm, I decided to go on a long-awaited restaurant tour. I started with shaved ice before lunch, but surprisingly, I was too full to eat lunch. I wandered around near the shaved ice shop looking for a place to eat, but many were closed or fully booked. I then moved from Yushima to Okachimachi and decided to try a Western-style restaurant that I wouldn't normally be able to go to during my lunch break at work. They had a small size option, which was perfect since I wasn't very hungry. I ordered the EbI and Hotate Mix Gratin (S) for 1,300 yen, which came with a salad and coffee or tea for an additional 900 yen. The dish was delicious with a crispy texture and a creamy sauce. It was the perfect amount for me, and I ended the meal with a hot coffee feeling very satisfied. It happened to be my birthday that day, so I celebrated by treating myself to a luxurious meal. It was a great experience, and I would love to visit again in the future.

The image shows a one-bite Hayashi Rice that I ordered for 700 yen. It was my first time visiting this place, but I instantly knew it was a great Western-style restaurant where everything you order is delicious. Even so, ending with this dish feels like pure happiness. The Hayashi Rice was so delicious that it made me feel that way. They offer normal size, small size, and this one-bite size.

I went to a Western-style restaurant between Ueno Station and Okachimachi Station. I always thought that Western-style restaurants in this area were popular and hard to get into, but I was able to get in without waiting here. I had hashed beef rice, tomato and crab salad, and sautéed squid ink. It was probably the best hashed beef rice I've ever had.

I had always wanted to go to this restaurant, which even John Lennon had visited in the past. I wanted to try a variety of dishes while sharing with my friend, so I was grateful that they had small-sized portions available. It was the most delicious Western-style restaurant I have ever eaten at.

First time visiting with my wife. Chose this place because of the good reputation of my wife's favorite beef stew. It was a holiday so we intentionally chose a time just after 2pm, and although it was full, we were able to enter at the right moment. My wife ordered a mix of beef stew and tongue stew, while I ordered the seasonal menu item, veal cutlet. While waiting, we had beer and for some reason, there were many wines from Slovenia, so we ended up ordering a rose wine for 12,000 yen. We often go for Western food, but this place provided a satisfying experience that matched its price. The stew had an amazing tenderness, better than other places, and the veal cutlet was superbly complemented by the seasonal tomato sauce. It was definitely on par with a certain famous restaurant in Ginza that we often visit. The wine was a bit pricey, but the satisfaction level was high enough to guarantee a return visit.

I visited on Sunday afternoon. I saw the sign from afar but couldn't find the entrance and wandered around. I took the elevator to the 4th floor. It was crowded inside at lunchtime, but the staff guided me to wait inside. I was seated without much waiting. I ordered the lunch course and the food was very delicious. Thank you very much.

A French cuisine restaurant with a high-class atmosphere and a wide selection of wines and champagnes. It was fully booked when I visited for drinks, indicating it's popular among the bourgeois. Though I couldn't take photos of the food, it's a place I'd like to visit for lunch.

I made a reservation in advance and arrived at the restaurant when it opened, but it was very crowded because it was a Sunday. It took a little time for the dishes to be brought out, but the curry had plenty of meat and was very delicious. The curry itself was slightly sweet.

Lunch reservation with younger brother and his wife for a memorial service. Grandfather passed away on August 26, 1981 at the age of 91, grandmother on November 20, 1996 at the age of 95, mother on June 20, 2006 at the age of 81, and father on November 26, 2016 at the age of 93. We had to reschedule this lunch multiple times due to various troubles. This time, my sister-in-law made a reservation at this place. Initially, we were thinking of ordering a la carte, but after looking at the menu, we decided on the "Summer Lunch Course" which included 3 dishes of our choice, bread or rice, dessert, and a drink for 7,000 yen. The dishes included scallop and octopus in lobster sauce or chilled potage soup for the first course, shrimp fry, scallop fry, crab croquette, or tomato and shrimp cold capellini for the second course, and chicken sauté with herbs, beef stew, or another option for the third course. The portions were a bit small compared to the neighboring table where someone had ordered a very voluminous omelette rice for 2,000 yen. We were informed that we had 70 minutes for our meal, but due to delays in serving the dishes, we had to leave after 80 minutes. The food was nothing special, and the service was a bit disorganized with waiters not remembering our orders. Despite the shortcomings, we continued chatting and planning to visit a dessert place next. After the meal, we visited a science museum and went shopping at Kappa Bridge. The popular shop in Ueno had a long line, so we went to a nearby place called "Kikumaru" next to the Higashi Honganji Temple.

I came to the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum to see the Matisse exhibition. Before that, I had lunch at Kurofune-tei for the first time in a while. I had made a reservation, so I was seated right away, but there were a few groups waiting. It's definitely a popular restaurant. The restaurant is bright with windows all around on the 4th floor of the building. I had the vichyssoise and hamburger. My companion had the vichyssoise and hashed beef rice. When it's hot, vichyssoise is always a good choice. I prefer it a bit colder and crisper, but the taste was very delicious. The hamburger came with a classic demiglace sauce and a sunny-side-up egg on top. It was delicious. My companion had the hashed beef rice, which I had also tried the first time I came to Kurofune-tei. It was incredibly delicious. It's a bit sad that many of Tokyo's long-established restaurants didn't make it to the 2023 Best 100 Western Restaurants list.

I had the beef stew, which is the specialty of this restaurant. It came with a salad, bread, and coffee as a set, and I also had a highball. Everyone else ordered rice dishes for lunch, but I felt like having bread with my stew. However, I wasn't too fond of the meat in the stew this time. It had a lot of sinew and skin. It wasn't as meaty as it used to be. I might try a different menu item next time. Also, the server just left my order without saying anything, which was a bit disappointing. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to Western food in Ueno, Ueno Seiyoken, which inherits the tradition of Tsukiji Seiyoken, is famous. In fact, including its predecessor "Kikuya," this is a renowned restaurant that has been passed down since the Meiji era. I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant, where John Lennon and his wife also visited during the Kikuya era. The restaurant is now located on one floor of a regular mixed-use building, but the atmosphere inside exudes a sense of history. Looking at the menu, there are a variety of Western dishes, starting with the famous beef stew. Each dish seemed delicious. The dishes were all delicious with no flaws. The dressing on the salad, the tartar sauce on the fry, each one showed precise skill. The only disappointment was the appearance of the restaurant (although the inside was impressive) and the service of the staff. This place seems different from other historic restaurants. It felt like a traditional Western-style restaurant. I made a reservation two days ago and had lunch at 11:00 when they opened, but when I arrived, there were already customers without reservations lining up. I had corned beef hash and crab cream croquette. The corned beef hash was reliably delicious, but personally, I prefer the crab cream croquette with sauce on top, so I felt it was a bit lacking. The interior of the restaurant is elegant, and I recommend making a reservation even for lunch. I parked my car at a nearby public parking lot.

It is about a 15-minute walk from my home to the park. I had been wanting to go there for a while, and finally got the chance when I had work nearby, so I treated my employee to a meal. We ordered Crab Cream Croquette for 2,600 yen and rice for me, and Beef Curry for 2,300 yen for my employee, along with some beer. I didn't check the brand of beer, but it turned out to be Sapporo Black Label, which was surprisingly delicious. The Croquette was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with a simple yet deep-flavored sauce. My employee, who was eating the Beef Curry, was surprised by how tasty it was. The curry was a light brown color, not the typical shiny dark brown Demi-Glace, and did not have chunks of meat in it. The La Reine dessert, with its crispy sugar topping, had a sophisticated taste. Next time, I will visit again to enjoy the course menu and wine at a more leisurely pace. Thank you for the meal.

I visited after a long time. When I gave my phone number for the reservation, it seemed like they had a record of my previous visit because they said, "Thank you for always using our services, Mr./Ms. ○○." It was a small thing, but it made me really happy ( ꈍᴗꈍ) The food was delicious as always, especially the liver paste and the cabbage roll which were both amazing. I will definitely come back‪‪❤︎‬

I ordered the popular Hayashi rice at this famous restaurant, so it must be delicious. They offer various mini sizes which are great for when you just want a small portion. Both the fish and meat dishes were tender and the sauce was really tasty.

When I made a reservation over the phone, the reception was quite good. So I had high expectations, but was a bit disappointed to find the restaurant on the 3rd floor of a narrow building. The place was clean, but a bit small for a long-established Western-style restaurant. However, the service and hospitality were still excellent. The menu was quite pricey. I wanted to try various dishes, so I ordered everything in a small size. I ordered hashed beef rice, omelette rice, and minced cutlet. The small size dishes were around 1000-1400 yen each. It took about 15-20 minutes after ordering, which left a not-so-good impression. I expected the curry or hashed beef rice to be served quickly. Maybe they wanted to serve everything together, but I wish they had asked if that was okay. There were also photos of Yoko Ono and John Lennon dining there in 1979, just a year before he was assassinated. As for the taste, all the dishes were mediocre. The hashed beef rice had a thick, bland sauce that seemed like it contained cornstarch. The demi-glace sauce used in the omelette rice and minced cutlet was also bland, not suitable for 2023 standards. Only the minced cutlet was decent, but I've had better ones from a famous butcher shop. Interestingly, the omelette rice had shrimp in it. It was disappointing that all three dishes were not very tasty despite the excellent service. I won't be coming back.

The Western food here sometimes makes me crave it uncontrollably. It's past 6 PM on a weekday and there are empty seats available. I usually have a set menu in mind that I want to eat. ★Onion Gratin Soup / 1,200 yen ★Cabbage Roll / 1,800 yen ★Crab Croquette / 2,600 yen The "Onion Gratin Soup" is a soup with plenty of onions and cheese toast. The taste is similar everywhere, but the amount of onions is incredibly large and delicious. The "Cabbage Roll" here is wrapped in cheese and baked. It's incredibly delicious with a tomato sauce mixed with demi-glace. The large hamburger wrapped in cheese and cabbage has a satisfying texture. The "Crab Croquette" used to have exposed "snow crab claws" but it seems to have changed. The taste is well, it was like this. It's a rich-flavored "Crab Croquette" with plenty of crab meat. I often order the same menu for myself, but here, there's no disappointment no matter what you eat. The prices are not cheap, but the satisfaction level is high.

I went to Kurofune-tei in Ueno. There were seats available. I had the hamburger with a small serving of rice. The hamburger was packed with meat and tasted delicious, especially when paired with the fried egg. It was not greasy, so it was quite light. The craft beer was also very tasty.
