If you bring this as a souvenir for someone who doesn't know about it, they will definitely give it high praise.

I first discovered Catle's Ufu Pudding over 10 years ago, when a friend mentioned that I had tried it before. I decided to stop by on my way back from National Denenchofu while practicing driving. It had been a while since I had Ufu Pudding. I didn't remember it being this rich and creamy. The texture reminded me of high-fat cream. The shop is located between Yugyozan and Tokyo Metropolitan University, and it seems like people mostly drive there. I didn't know there was a parking lot, so I ended up parking on the street and walking in. But I later found out that there is a parking lot next to the shop. I visited this patisserie in preparation for the Bon festival homecoming. The parking lot can fit up to three cars along the green road. The interior of the store is very spacious! It's the first time I've seen such a large Western-style confectionery shop. There are wide sections for baked goods, cakes, and bread. We purchased cakes for ourselves. Among the many delicious-looking cakes, we chose the cheesecake and melon shortcake. The prices were average. The taste was also average, with both cakes having a somewhat mediocre sponge. The Gâteau Noir in the baked goods section had a nice texture with walnuts and raisins, but it was a bit dry for my liking. The Câtel fromage with lemon on top was moister and more to my taste.

Whimsical Mont Blanc [Part 8] Quatre, a Western confectionery shop that became famous overnight with their takeout "Ufu Pudding" during Golden Week. Among their offerings, I chose the "Wa-Kuri Mont Blanc" (560 yen) without hesitation. Inside the elegant and rich Mont Blanc cream made with Japanese chestnuts, there is custard cream with chestnut pieces - "Chestnut in the Chestnut". When it comes to Cattol, their baked goods like pudding and other sweets are famous, but surprisingly, you can also buy bread baked in the store here! They offer three types of scones, and I bought the Earl Grey flavored one. It was crispy and fragrant with tea. The quality is top-notch.

I went to the main store of Tofu Pudding. Despite being in a remote area that is not easily accessible without a bus (sorry, haha), the luxurious yet subtly rich building suddenly appeared. When the automatic door opened, there was a wide selection of cakes, bread, and baked goods inside. Furthermore, there was an Eaton Inn space in the back that was really amazing. It felt like a hotel lounge. The Eaton Inn had a luxurious yet simple atmosphere, making it appealing to men and working individuals. However, it was a bit confusing whether to enter freely or wait to be guided, especially when customers buying takeout were lining up. The spacious area led to some confusion, with customers unintentionally interrupting the staff by asking questions. The Eaton Inn space had sofa and table seating, a wide variety of menu items including sandwiches, omelets, and stews, as well as sweet treats like pancakes and parfaits. The drink menu included herbal teas and alcohol, making it feel like a hotel lounge indeed. It felt like a waste that they closed at 8 pm. The variety of baked goods was impressive, including macarons and tofu pudding, which I had only seen in department stores before. The staff showed cake samples on a tray, and you could also look at the window display. They did not seem to have cake sets, but the tea was served in a pot, allowing for multiple cups and a more authentic experience. I chose the seasonal tea: Flowery Orange, which was easy to drink and came with helpful descriptions. If it were in a more accessible location, I would visit more often, but I guess that's what makes it a hidden gem. Laughing.

I visited a shop near my house called "QUATRE". I noticed they were selling bread when I passed by, so I decided to stop by. I was impressed the first time I visited, so I came back again. Normally, the sweets are more famous, but I decided to try the bread. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The items I purchased during my second visit are shown in the photo. [Second visit] - Niçoise (Sandwich) → A tuna-filled sandwich with my favorite seasoning. I bought it both times because I love it. - Raisin Noah → Not as hard as it looks, easy to eat, with a strong flavor and texture that I enjoy. - Deli bread (completely forgot the name) → A soft deli bread filled with plenty of sausages and corn. It's delicious. [First visit] In addition to the above, I also purchased the following during my first visit: - Baguette → A decently tasty baguette that was delicious when made into a sandwich. - Smoked salmon and Brie sandwich → I also enjoyed this sandwich with its harmonious blend of flavors between the ingredients and bread. I enjoyed both visits and am happy to have several bakeries nearby. I plan to visit this shop again in the future.

However, there is a welcoming place for café refugees like me - the main store of Cattolica at Kakinokizaka. Cattolica is a well-known bakery in Tokyo, with several branches across the city. The main store is surprisingly large, with a classic and luxurious interior. They offer a wide variety of cakes, including their signature "Ufu Pudding," as well as a selection of baked goods and bread. The café area is spacious, with comfortable sofa seats. I tried their Niçoise-style sandwich, Ufu Pudding, Matcha Mont Blanc, Ruby Chocolate, Chocolate and Praline Cream, and Amaou Strawberry Tart. The cakes varied in quality, but the bakery's extensive selection of bread and pastries was impressive. Overall, it was a satisfying experience.

The main store of Cattol, which has 9 stores in Tokyo and Kanagawa, was open during the New Year holidays except on New Year's Day. There are about 6 parking spaces available. The store is spacious and clean, with the first floor dedicated to selling bread, cakes, and baked goods, while the second floor serves as a cafe space. I ordered three items for takeout: Chestnut Mont Blanc (560 yen), Shortcake (480 yen), and Ufu Pudding Plain (210 yen each). The Chestnut Mont Blanc had a strong sweetness in the outer dough, while the Shortcake had a smooth and moderately sweet cream. The Ufu Pudding Plain had a nice level of sweetness. Overall, it was a convenient and cost-effective restaurant. I would like to visit again if given the chance. Thank you for the meal.
