I visited for lunch on a regular day and ordered the tuna cutlet bowl set. It took a bit of time for the dish to be served. The cutlet bowl had a good amount of fat on the tuna. As shown in the picture, there were plenty of cutlets, so I was able to get full. They also provided mayonnaise or sauce on the table to dip the cutlets in. Miso soup, pickles, and pickled vegetables were also included.

I had lunch at the fish restaurant "Taishu Gyosakaba Fukumatsu" in Nishi-Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo. I chose the grilled silver salmon set meal, and the thick, flavorful fish was very satisfying. I have not been there for dinner yet, but I would like to visit again in the future. It is a restaurant that I would like to revisit.

[Inside the Restaurant]
The black floor and walls create a simple yet lively atmosphere with large fishing flags and Showa era izakaya posters. There are about 9 four-seater tables. The background music is Showa idol songs from YouTube.
[Staff]
The staff is a muscular young man who seems a bit aloof.
[Menu]
- Lunch: Prices range from 800 to 1200 yen
Tuna minced bowl, tuna yukke bowl, tuna tatsuta-age set meal, tuna cutlet bowl, mackerel miso stew set meal, grilled mackerel with salt set meal, mackerel in sweet soy sauce set meal, dried mackerel in sweet mirin set meal, red fish kasuzuke set meal, striped hokke grilled set meal, salt-grilled silver salmon
- Other tuna dishes, sashimi, and various other fish dishes
[Dishes]
I ordered the red fish kasuzuke set meal for 900 yen.
Red fish kasuzuke: The texture is firm and the skin is tender. Not much smell of alcohol, and the saltiness is just right.
Rice: It's Koshihikari rice, but it feels less sweet. It seems like you can have seconds.
Miso soup: Thick wakame seaweed. The saltiness is strong.
Dashimaki tamago: You can taste plenty of dashi.
Pickled daikon radish: The crunchy texture is a nice accent with a soy sauce flavor that goes well with other dishes.
[Impressions]
The overall balance of the dishes is good, and the prices seem appropriate. However, the atmosphere is no different from a restaurant in a bustling downtown area. Perhaps with time, it will gain a more refined and dignified presence. I slightly regret not ordering more tuna dishes since it seems to be a tuna-focused restaurant. The spacious layout makes it suitable for gatherings and parties.

I visited alone for lunch on a regular day. I ordered the deep-fried tuna set meal. Water is self-service. The meal was served quickly. I have never been disappointed with the food here. I enjoyed the crispy and juicy deep-fried tuna as it is, seasoning it with soy sauce or sauce on the table. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

I happened to stop by this place on the street and tried the assorted sashimi, grilled large clams, and grilled marinated red snapper. The grilled fish was recommended over the sashimi. The large clam was 530 yen each. The grilled marinated red snapper was very delicious. The seasoning was also very good.

The casual izakaya was full of fish dishes. There were many menu items featuring tuna and mackerel. There was a wide variety of drinks available, so it was nice to be able to enjoy different drinks with the meal. The staff were efficient. It was a smoking permitted establishment, which was a bit of a concern, but it was clean and there was no strong kitchen odor. The food was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is my first visit in a while. I was craving fish, so I came here specifically for the miso mackerel dish that I had before. It was Saturday at 12:20 pm. There were 3 groups of 2 in the restaurant. I wanted to order the miso mackerel set, but it was sold out. It's a popular menu item that sells out quickly even on weekdays after 12 pm. I ended up deciding on the salt-grilled mackerel set for 900 yen. The tables looked a bit old and sticky. Surprisingly, the food arrived in about 5 minutes. The bones were removed making it easy to eat, but there were still some belly bones left. Rice and miso soup were free refills, so I had an extra serving of each. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Next time, I'll come earlier to try the miso mackerel set! [Out of 100 points] Taste: 80 points, Presentation: 80 points, Portion size: 85 points, Value for money: 85 points, Decor: 70 points, Service: 80 points, Overall: 80 points.

Today's revisit featured miso-stewed mackerel. The flesh was so tender that even the thick backbone could be easily chewed. The miso had a reddish hue, providing a refreshing yet robust flavor. It paired well with the mackerel. There was no need to worry about removing bones, and it seemed like a good source of calcium. The reliable generous portion of mackerel was still present.

When it comes to fish lunch in Gotanda, I visited this place and it was bustling with nearby office workers. I ordered the salted salmon set meal. The fish was thick and seasoned perfectly. It was delicious. I was happy that I could get refills of miso soup and rice. I'd like to try this place as an izakaya for dinner next time. Thank you for the meal.

I found this place while walking around and decided to visit. Once inside, I loved the atmosphere. I ordered some salted fish guts (nameko) and couldn't stop drinking beer. I ended up drinking beer like crazy in the middle of the day and left with a full stomach. What a waste. There is a counter where you can easily go in alone. Also, they really understand what drinkers like. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I want to bring my drinking buddies and enjoy various snacks. It's been a while since I found such a great place. I had lunch here last time, but this time I visited for dinner. I had grilled mackerel, thick fried tofu, and octopus sausage salad with beer. The atmosphere of the izakaya is great. Thank you for the meal!

I went to have lunch at a restaurant near Gotanda Station that serves fish set meals. They offer grilled fish and simmered fish, but I chose grilled fish this time. I was torn between mackerel and silver salmon, but this time I ordered grilled mackerel with salt. Water is self-service. It takes a little time to cook after ordering, but the grilled fish is hot and delicious. Rice is free for refills, it seems. The meal was simple but the best, with miso soup, side dishes, pickles, main grilled fish, and rice. The menu is also extensive at night, so I would like to visit slowly at night next time. Thank you for the meal!

As Yuzawa and Agefuku were walking along the Meguro River, they stumbled upon a new restaurant that caught their attention. They decided to go in and were greeted by a lively staff member. They sat at the counter and ordered the sashimi set meal for ¥1200. The meal included a variety of fresh sashimi such as tuna, yellowtail, salmon, sardine, and octopus, along with rice, miso soup, simmered hijiki seaweed, and pickles. The quality and quantity of the food exceeded their expectations, especially the seasonal yellowtail. They were impressed and decided to come back to try the grilled fish next time.

At 11:30 for lunch, I tried the "Saba Miso Nitsuke" for 1,000 yen, which was the first to be served. It came with simmered hijiki seaweed, miso soup, and pickles. I think the whole tail part of the mackerel would be better, but thanks to the rich miso flavor and slow simmering, I could even eat the bones! The portion of the delicious rice was a bit small, but I wonder if refills are allowed? Other tables were getting refills of miso soup... This restaurant seems to excel in cooking fish dishes, so I'm looking forward to trying their sashimi next time.

At the popular fish izakaya, Fukumatsu in Gotanda, I had the grilled mackerel set lunch for ¥900. I also had a lunch beer for ¥300. It took about 10 minutes to be served, but it was worth the wait. The set meal came with side dishes, and you could have seconds of rice and miso soup. It was a satisfying meal.

Oh? A fish market in a place like this? As I was looking at the menu, the door opened. A loud voice greeted me from the back, "Welcome!" It was a young chef. It was just past 1 o'clock, but there were still many customers. I was debating on what to order from the set menu, while observing the other customers around me. The saury looked amazing, and the salmon was incredibly thick. It seemed like a good choice! I decided to go with the mackerel marinated in Kyoto-style miso (homemade, it said on the menu). After a few minutes of waiting, my meal arrived. The picture was taken after I took a bite, and it definitely met my expectations. The side dishes included pickled radish, miso soup with clams, and slightly firm rice (delicious). All of this for only 950 yen. Located just a few minutes from Gotanda Station in an office district, it was definitely worth it.

I think "Fukumatsu" near Meguro River in Nishi-Gotanda used to be a Chinese restaurant in the past. I went for lunch and noticed that they have a lot of fish dishes on the menu like sashimi, simmered fish, and grilled fish. I had the red snapper miso-grilled set meal. It came with bones, so I removed them first. The meat was delicious. It's been a few months since I last had red snapper. This place is good if you're craving fish. Next time, I want to try other fish dishes. Thank you for the meal.

I visited for lunch. I have been here a few times, but if you go later, they tend to run out of items. During lunchtime, it gets crowded with office workers. They mainly serve fish dishes, with a variety of seafood and grilled fish. I love fish, so I enjoy it here. Prices are around 1000 yen. You have to get your own water.

On Wednesday afternoon, I was in the mood for Osomatsu, so I decided to visit "Taishu Gyosakaba Fukumatsu". When I entered the restaurant, it had a casual atmosphere. I sat at the counter and checked the menu. Today, the sashimi dishes were already sold out, so I ordered the "Grilled Mackerel with Dried Miso Set Meal" for 900 yen. After placing my order, the mackerel arrived. I eagerly took a bite. The taste was alright. If I have the chance, I would like to experience the Osomatsu vibe at night next time.

I used it for a year-end party at work. The appearance is impressive, but the restaurant is casual. We had a course full of tuna. Fukumatsu's recommended "Misaki Tuna Enjoyment" course for 4500 yen. I couldn't take pictures of everything at the year-end party, but here are a few introductions. "Edamame" a standard appetizer. "Salad" with fatty salmon as an accent, quite nice. "Potato fries" hot and freshly fried. This is also a standard dish. "Tuna sashimi" The instructions were two slices per person from the staff. Since the restaurant specializes in fish, seafood dishes are always good. "Grilled tuna collar" Another tuna classic, grilled collar. "Tuna cutlet" Rarely fried tuna cutlet. This was one piece per person. "Seafood hot pot" Plenty of vegetables, fish, oysters, and scallops in the pot. Boiling it all together produces a good broth, and winter hot pot always warms the body. After the hot pot, we had a simple rice porridge. Rice and egg in a flavorful broth. We enjoyed it simply and deliciously. I thought the dishes were good for those who like fish and tuna. This time it was all-you-can-drink, but it was a bit disappointing that there was no sake. Recommended for casual gatherings where you want to have a lively time.
