About 3 minutes from Shin-Akitsu Station, there is a seafood ramen restaurant. The most popular item is the dipping noodles for 1,000 yen, which you can purchase from the ticket machine outside (cash only). The restaurant has only 7 counter seats and is usually full. When you hand over your ticket, they will ask you about the type of noodles, flavor (soy sauce or salt), temperature (cold or hot), and portion size. I recommend getting the regular noodles with soy sauce flavor and medium portion, as the large portion might be too much to eat. The noodles are chewy and satisfying, and the rich fish-flavored dipping sauce pairs perfectly with them. The soup is delicious and you might find yourself finishing it without needing to dilute it. The restaurant also sells the same noodles at their other locations, so you can try them there as well. There is affordable parking nearby, and the restaurant is easily accessible from the train station. If you're interested, I recommend giving it a try!

I used to pass by this restaurant every day but never went in. I decided to try their soy sauce dipping noodles, and the broth turned out sweeter than I expected, which paired really well with the smooth noodles. I accidentally ordered a large serving and struggled to finish it due to the huge portion, but managed to eat it all. Next time, I'll go for a regular size, for sure. Tears of joy.

I finished my work in Shin-Akitsu and stopped by here before boarding the Musashino Line in the rain. It's a small restaurant with 7 counter seats, with 3 branches along the Seibu Line, and the main store in Higashi-Kurume, and Shin-Akitsu (Akitsu) and Tanashi as branch stores. I purchased a ticket outside first and ordered the most popular tsukemen (tax included 1000 yen), with soy sauce flavor for the dipping sauce (unusually a choice between soy sauce and salt), in a large size (4 servings of noodles before boiling, 570g), and chose thick noodles (you can choose between thick and thin noodles). It was served in 7-8 minutes, and the soy sauce flavor of the dipping sauce was easy to eat and not boring. The first bite has a pleasant sweet soy sauce flavor that gently spreads in the mouth, but gradually the spicy taste of chili peppers arrives, leaving a pleasant spicy sensation in the mouth until finishing the meal. The menma (this is delicious) and green onions are generously included. It was finished with one sheet of seaweed and a half-flavored boiled egg. The slightly firm noodles have a moderate curl and firmness, making you want to eat them heartily. It was satisfying and delicious, and I finished it with a full stomach. The tsukemen was delicious. However, the only downside was the ear-grating idol-like BGM commonly found in ramen shops. I was overwhelmed by the mechanical, loud BGM playing in the small shop. No matter how delicious the food is, I won't be coming back with this kind of music. Thank you for the meal!

Third visit - This time, I tried the Abura Soba. The noodles were thick and the portion was large. I chose mustard over mayonnaise. The amount of noodles was still generous. There were two thin slices of chashu, seasoned egg, green onions, pickled ginger, and plenty of mustard on the spoon. The Abura Soba was well-seasoned, and I enjoyed changing the flavor with mustard, vinegar, and chili oil throughout the meal. It was a delicious dish, just like their tsukemen. Highly recommended. Thank you for the meal!

I went to the shop on December 5, 2021, after it had been closed due to a fire. The shop was under construction with a notice posted. It will have a grand reopening from December 9 to 12, with a cashback offer of 200 yen per noodle dish. When I visited on December 12, I noticed some changes, such as the disappearance of extra seating and a retro sign. The prices also seemed to have increased slightly. I ordered my usual tsukemen with a medium portion.

I used to order soy sauce ramen before, so this time I ordered the ✱tsukemen with rich sesame miso broth. I chose a large portion of noodles without specifying the type. Personally, I prefer sesame miso over soy sauce. I think I prefer thick noodles. Be careful with the large portion as it can be quite filling. Thank you for the meal!

Lunch on June 11, 2022 (Saturday)!! Today, the Horii family is out in Tokorozawa... At the request of my baseball-loving older brother (eldest son)... he wanted to visit a stadium other than the Tokyo Dome at least once a year... We already went to the Chiba Marine Stadium this year, but now it's time for the second round! Off to the Seibu Dome!! It's now called the MetLife Dome, but I'm more familiar with Seibu Dome...(^ ^) Since the younger brother is working, it's just the two of us moving today... We started off as usual by burning calories at the sports club first thing in the morning!! We'll transfer from Higashi-Kawaguchi to the Seibu Line at Shin-Akitsu and head towards our destination... During the transfer at Shin-Akitsu, there's a ramen shop along the way, so let's give it a try - we decided to storm into Takeya Shin-Akitsu Store!! There's a ticket machine in front of the shop, and for the tsukemen here, it says: Before boiling: Regular 380g 910 yen, Medium 475g 910 yen, Large 570g 910 yen, Special 760g 1,010 yen, Extra-large 950g 1,110 yen... The 950g before boiling is just too much!! My brother is quite strong when it comes to rice, but when it comes to noodles, he's about the same as me, so we both ordered the special size!! The shop only has counter seats, and it was still half empty, so we quickly took our seats... When we handed over the tickets, we were asked, "Which dipping sauce flavor would you like?" and "Do you want the noodles warm or cold?"... I ordered cold noodles with sesame miso flavor and regular thickness, while my brother ordered cold noodles with soy sauce flavor and regular thickness... After waiting for 10 minutes!! Let's take some photos and dig in!! Mmm!! Delicious!! (・∀・) The dipping sauce is so rich! When my brother traded a bit with me, I was like, wow, this is tasty... My brother added vinegar, making it even more refreshing... I suddenly noticed a black jar on the counter... Could this be grated garlic!? Oh no, if I had known that, I would have chosen miso flavor instead of sesame miso... But it's too late to say that now, so let's just keep slurping... However, does 760g before boiling turn into around 1,200g after boiling?? Anyway, no matter how much we eat, it doesn't seem to decrease... The bowl is quite deep, and it's a tough challenge... About halfway through, I looked at my brother next to me, and he had already eaten 80% of his... "You still have room?" "A little bit..." - and a deal was made... \(^o^)/ I handed over the remaining one serving and said, "Phew, I'm full... Large portions of tsukemen do get tiring... Ideally, if we could get three types of dipping sauces, we could enjoy it until the end... (^^) In the end, as usual, we were full before reaching the stadium... It's the sad nature of the Horii family... Now, let's transfer to the Seibu Line and head to the stadium... Ah, it was delicious... Thank you for the meal!! (・∀・)

I entered the restaurant at 1:05 PM on June 8, 2022, and it was not too busy. I sat at the counter and ordered a medium serving of noodles with soy sauce, cold toppings, and thick noodles. It took about 10 minutes for my order to arrive, and the portion of noodles was just right, not too much. It seemed to be around 600-650g. The dipping sauce was a standard soy sauce flavor, different from the rich sesame miso I had last time. It was a taste that you could find anywhere. I finished my meal comfortably and would like to try the salt flavor next time. The timeline for this day's visit was: 1:05 PM entered, 1:17 PM served, 1:28 PM finished. Thank you for the meal.

Around 6:00 p.m. on June 3, 2022, after finishing work in Kiyose, I decided to visit the "Takeya" restaurant in front of Akitsu Station for their large serving tsukemen. I used to go to "Takagi Nobu" in Akitsu before, but after being defeated by the large portion at Takeya's main branch, this time I opted for a smaller serving at the Akitsu branch. I purchased the tsukemen for 910 yen from the ticket machine outside the store. When I entered the store, I barely managed to secure the last seat available. There are only about 6 or 7 seats, so they fill up quickly. The tsukemen options include regular size (380g), medium size (475g), large size (570g), special size (760g), and extra-large size (950g) for varying prices. You can choose from soy sauce, salt, miso, or sesame miso broth, as well as hot or cold noodles, thick or thin noodles, and the option of adding pickled ginger. This time, I ordered a regular size with sesame miso, cold noodles, thick noodles, pickled ginger, and half rice (which is free with a regular size order). The noodles were served in a broth that was quite thick and flavorful, although the sesame flavor was not very prominent. It was enjoyable to eat, and I finished it quite easily. Next time, I plan to try a different flavor. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

One of the ramen shops at Shin-Arakawa Station is Takeya. They have vending machines for noodles and such on the street in front of the station, which caught my attention. I ordered the dipping noodles for 910 yen, choosing the seasoning, noodle thickness, and noodle amount. I went with soy sauce, thick noodles, and a large portion (570g). The amount of noodles was quite substantial at 570g before cooking, and it was indeed a lot when served. The soup came with chashu, seaweed, half a flavored egg, menma, and chopped green onions. I took a bite of the noodles and tasted the soup lightly. Then I continued eating in silence, but struggled a bit as it had been a while since I had eaten this much. I managed to finish it, but I was really full. The dipping noodles here prioritize quantity over quality, so the saltiness of the soup intensified as I ate more. It would have been nice to have the option to change the flavor a bit. It seems you can choose flavors other than soy sauce, but I think I can go without soy sauce for a while. However, I was completely satisfied with the quantity! Thank you for the meal!

Visited "Takeya" for lunch on a Saturday after my son requested to have their "tsukemen" after a long time. Arrived at the restaurant around 11:30 AM and there was one person ahead of us in line. The interior of the restaurant had undergone some changes, with the table seating no longer available. The default serving size for the noodles was 380g, with a smaller option at 280g and an extra small at 190g. In the past, I used to eat the large size of 570g in my 30s, but now the small size is just right for me. My son ordered the default size, while my partner opted for the extra small. I was surprised to see that out of the five branches in the group, only three were left - the main store (in Higashi-Kurume), the Tamagawa branch, and the Shin-Akitsu branch. Perhaps this was due to the impact of the pandemic. We were seated at the counter after a short wait. The differences in serving sizes can be clearly seen in the photos. The noodles at this restaurant are homemade at the second floor of the main store, and they go perfectly with the fish and pork bone dipping sauce. The consistent and delicious taste hasn't changed over the years. My children have been eating here since before they can remember, so they thought this was the standard. I noticed two elderly women sitting at the back of the counter, quietly enjoying the default serving size (380g) just like my son. The baby boomer generation is still going strong! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

There was a job in Higashimurayama, and while wandering around Shin-Akasaka station, I was lured by a nice smell coming from a shop and decided to enter. They seemed to specialize in tsukemen, so I ordered a medium size with thick noodles. The noodles were served in about 12 to 13 minutes, and they were thick with a good chewiness. The soup was soy sauce-based with fish powder, and it was light but flavorful, complementing the noodles well. The toppings included 2 slices of chashu, egg, menma, and seaweed. I later realized that even the medium size had a substantial amount of noodles at 475 grams before boiling. It was a delicious tsukemen with good value for money. Thank you for the meal.

I had my first bowl of tsukemen at the age of 36. Shortly after, I discovered a popular shop near my home where my family and I visited. The shop started as a single store but has now expanded to six locations. The shop in Shin-Akitsu is the second branch. It was a hit with my kids because it had less of a pork bone smell compared to the main branch. This shop is approaching its 25th anniversary. Initially, they only had fish and pork bone shoyu flavor, but now they offer shoyu, salt, miso, and oil soba as well. The amount of noodles here is no joke - a regular serving is a whopping 380g, which is double the amount of a typical ramen shop! In my 40s, I could easily eat a large serving of 570g, but now in my 50s, I struggle with a medium serving of 470g. The homemade noodles with less bite are still excellent. Despite becoming a central kitchen, the taste remains consistent, and the service is friendly without being overly attentive like some chain restaurants. It had been about 9 months since my last visit in autumn last year. I hope the taste stays the same forever. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Takaya New Akitsu Store The basic menu includes ramen (soy sauce, miso, salt, sesame miso), tsukemen (same as above), and abura soba. You can choose thick or thin noodles, and get extra noodles for free. The ramen and abura soba come in regular (290g), medium (380g), and large (475g) sizes, all for the same price. The tsukemen comes in regular (380g), medium (475g), and large (570g) sizes, with special (760g) for an additional 100 yen, and extra-large (950g) for an additional 200 yen. They operate on a food ticket system and have counter seats as well as one table. Tissues are available on the tables. The restaurant is non-smoking and does not have a parking lot, but there are coin parking lots nearby.Visited in February 2021 and had the ramen soy sauce (large, 475g) for 760 yen. It felt like I hadn't eaten such a huge amount of noodles in a long time (laughs). The 475g before cooking is no joke.

I have pledged not to eat dinner after 9 pm in order to prevent obesity, but sometimes I end up having dinner on my way home. That's how I ended up getting off at Shin-Akitsu Station. I found a ramen shop without any flashy signs, so I decided to go in. I ordered the tsukemen (dipping noodles) for 850 yen with extra green onions for 100 yen. You can choose from salt, soy sauce, or miso broth, and I chose the regular soy sauce option. I also chose thin noodles and a normal portion size. When the dish arrived, I was surprised by the amount of green onions! Many shops these days are a bit reserved when it comes to adding extra toppings, but this shop was generous with the green onions in the dipping sauce. The portion of noodles was normal, but it felt like a lot, and I couldn't help but wonder if the free option for extra noodles would be too much for me in terms of daily food intake. As for the taste, I enjoyed the melt-in-your-mouth chashu pork, but the rest was as expected. It was simply delicious. I felt that this shop is perfect for students looking to enjoy a good meal at an affordable price.

I have known this place since it first opened. I don't go there often, but when I feel like it, I visit (if it's full, I'll go somewhere else without hesitation). The standout feature of this place is definitely the portion size. The regular size is more than enough. Ordering a large portion feels like a punishment. My go-to choices are the rich miso ramen > tsukemen = abura soba. I had the tsukemen this time (soy sauce, all normal) since I had miso ramen at Hanamichi yesterday. I remember it used to cost less than 850 yen, but now they offer a free upgrade to a large portion, medium portion, or half rice, so I asked for half rice. Putting the chashu on top of the half rice, adding the soup to enhance the flavor, and drizzling some chili oil turned out to be a great discovery this time. I know that this place's tsukemen is not as delicious as Takinogawa Taishoken, but for some reason, the last bit of soup after dipping the noodles is tasty. I actually order the tsukemen to enjoy that part. Overall, I leave satisfied. I remember seeing a rating of 3.0 on Tabelog before and thinking, "It could be a bit higher," but when I checked recently, it was 3.37 (as of May 23, 2019). I feel like that rating is fair. Whenever I come here, I can't help but think about the meat ramen from "Akitsuya" that closed down.

Yesterday, I ended my day with ramen. Everyone recommended this place, so I couldn't resist getting the large serving. I was warned that getting the extra-large portion was a bad idea, but I still went for it. It turns out that the extra-large portion is a whopping 950g of noodles before cooking. That's a lot! Maybe I shouldn't have gotten it, but it was too late. I bought the ticket from the machine, handed it to the staff, and in about 10 minutes, the "Special Tsukemen (extra-large)" arrived. The dipping sauce was indeed large, but the bowl containing the noodles was the size of a washbasin. The bowl was filled to the brim with thin noodles, surprisingly easy to slurp up. I had some help halfway through, but I managed to finish it. It was a satisfying meal. #AkitsuRamen #Tsukemen #ExtraLarge #ThinNoodlesAreSlurpable

About 3 years ago, I drafted a post about my visit to a ramen restaurant. I ordered a small portion of ramen for 640 yen on December 6, 2017. The restaurant had 8 customers when I visited at 1:20 pm. The soup was a pork bone base with a fish flavor, dark brown in color with fish powder floating in it. The soup had a good balance of soy sauce, fish umami, and pork bone broth. The homemade medium-thick straight noodles were smooth and chewy, which I really enjoyed. The pork belly chashu was tender and flavorful, the bamboo shoots were slightly soft and crunchy, and the marinated egg was delicious. The restaurant is affiliated with the popular ramen shop "Takeya" in Higashikurume City, Tokyo, and is known for its long lines. It was a delicious meal, and I recommend it.
