Ordered Sesame-scented Soupless Dan Dan Noodles: 370 yen + tax
Visited the restaurant with family who wanted to eat sushi. Although Kappa Sushi was nearby, I chose this place because they serve Soupless Dan Dan Noodles. Reserved a seat using the order ticket machine. Called in about 17 minutes and sat at a booth. Ordered sushi, and the display showed an approximate wait time of six minutes until arrival, which was nice. Ordered the Soupless Dan Dan Noodles at 13:11. It arrived on the rail near my seat about 3 minutes later. Cracked the soft-boiled egg, sprinkled powdered Sichuan pepper, mixed it well, and then enjoyed the noodles. The noodles were thick, curly, and dark yellow in color. They were cooked soft, almost like commercially made Chinese noodles. They seemed to lose some firmness as they cooled. The toppings included minced meat, diced onions, and mitsuba (Japanese parsley). The minced meat was seasoned with miso, giving it a strong miso flavor. The diced onions were finely chopped, not spicy, slightly dry but still had a crunchy texture. Mitsuba added a nice aroma, but personally, I would have preferred cilantro. The soft-boiled egg enhanced the overall flavor. Previously, it used to come already on the noodles, but now you have to add it yourself. The sauce was a sesame-based dan dan sauce with ground black sesame, providing a good sesame flavor. It had a moderate level of spiciness, which was balanced out with the powdered Sichuan pepper. The soft-boiled egg helped mellow out the flavors, but the dish was on the salty side. Overall, it was a satisfying bowl of noodles from a sushi chain restaurant. They have clearly put effort into their menu! Be careful not to eat this before your sushi, as it might affect the taste. Thank you for the meal!
