On Thursday, after eating curry at "Udon Curry Shop," I felt unsatisfied and searched for a nearby curry restaurant. I came across "Hot Spoon" and decided to check out the location. It was about a 3-minute walk from Gotanda Station East Exit. At 12:56, there were two customers waiting in front of the store, but they were waiting for takeout. They left as soon as their orders were ready. As I stood there, the door of the shop opened, and the staff said, "Please come in." Suddenly, I felt like eating again and ended up going inside.
I was directed to a counter seat along the wall and looked at the menu. The majority of the menu items included "Beef Tendon Stew Curry." I casually ordered, "Beef Tendon Stew Curry, please." The staff asked, "Would you like white rice or multigrain rice?" I answered, "White rice." Without much thought. The portion of rice was either regular or large, and the spiciness level ranged from mild, medium, spicy, extra spicy, to super spicy. Being a fan of spicy food, I chose extra spicy.
The counter seats along the wall could accommodate five people, with a few tables behind. After a while, I looked at the menu again and noticed there was a topping of spinach available. I asked, "Excuse me, can I have a topping of spinach?" The staff replied, "Please choose three toppings." The options were tomato potato, tomato broccoli, curry onion, potato salad, curry egg, boiled cabbage, and sautéed spinach.
I ended up choosing spinach, potato salad, and tomato broccoli as my toppings. The prices were 880 yen for the Beef Tendon Stew Curry and 190 yen for the toppings. I had initially chosen white rice, but seeing most people ordering multigrain rice, I decided to switch. The menu mentioned that multigrain rice went well with the Beef Tendon Stew Curry, providing a sweet flavor and enjoyable texture.
After about 3 minutes, a hot plate of Beef Tendon Stew Curry with chunks of beef tendons and a half-boiled egg arrived. It was steaming hot. The rice topped with spinach, potato salad, and tomato broccoli followed. The rice portion was quite generous. I took a bite of the Beef Tendon Stew Curry, and the beef tendons were incredibly tender and flavorful. The curry had a substantial amount of beef tendons, unlike any I had tried before. The place was constantly full of customers, most of whom were enjoying the Beef Tendon Stew Curry.
The curry was so delicious that I couldn't help but keep eating. The spiciness was just right, providing a pleasant kick without overpowering the taste. The potato salad, served in a round dish, was also substantial. The restaurant offered great value for money, and if I had discovered it when I was younger, I would have frequented it often. The 270g of rice was more than enough, with plenty of curry sauce to go around. I got so engrossed in eating that I forgot about the spinach topping. I mixed it with the remaining curry sauce and rice and enjoyed every last bite. What a satisfying meal!
I was so full after the meal. This kind of youthful and flavorful curry is fantastic. Despite the spiciness of the curry, it didn't leave a lingering burning sensation, which was quite surprising.
