I came here to celebrate the 1st anniversary on September 1st! It was a Friday at 12:45 pm. The weather wasn't great, so the restaurant was about 70% full. I congratulated Mr. Tanii on the anniversary, then ordered my usual spicy curry with double extra servings! It cost 1200 yen in total. The curry arrived in just 2 minutes, faster than instant noodles! I enjoyed the spicy curry, Makio Tanii curry, and mix curry all at once! The curry here is nicely spicy but not too hot, making it easy to eat. It might not be strong enough for those who like a lot of spices, but I find it mild and very easy to eat. In my opinion, this is the best curry place in Gotanda! Delicious and quick! A very convenient restaurant! I even received Pocky as a gift for the anniversary (laughs). [Out of 100 points] Taste: 85 points, Presentation: 85 points, Portion size: 85 points, Cost performance: 80 points, Interior: 80 points, Service: 85 points, Overall: 83.3 points. Rating criteria: 0-49 points: Unacceptable, 50-69 points: Bad! 70 points: A little more, 75 points: Well, 80 points: Quite good, 85 points: Very good, 90 points: Fantastic, 95 points: Amazing, 100 points: No room for complaints! Since this was lunch, I place great importance on cost performance and portion size! It would be nice if you could consider 80 points as the average value.

Got off at Gotanda Station and walked through the restaurant district to Makio Tanika Curry. Had the lunch special curry for 1000 yen, but got a 50 yen discount for choosing a smaller portion of rice, so it was 950 yen in total. The "aigake" curry comes with two types - a spiced curry and a coconut-based Makio curry. It was delicious. Is this place related to Karigari in Akihabara? I prefer this one. The shredded carrot side dish was good. The powder-like topping might be bonito flakes.

I visited during the daytime on a regular day. I was able to enter without waiting as there was a seat available. I ordered the mixed curry with less rice. It was a good balance of sweet and spicy flavors, and the amount of cilantro was just right. Even though I asked for less rice, the portion was still satisfying and easy to eat for a lunch during work. I genuinely felt like I would like to visit this restaurant regularly, as the taste and atmosphere were both great.

I ordered the Makio Curry with Butter Chicken. It came with bonito flakes, sautéed carrots, and cumin. I think it's okay even without cilantro. It wasn't bad, but it didn't leave a lasting impression. The price of 900 yen seems a bit high for this taste. I don't think I will visit again. I might go to Kanda for some curry soon.

On a Sunday in the Gotanda area, I was wandering around looking for a unique curry to eat, and after being turned away by a few places, I stumbled upon this place called Makiotani Curry. It's a small shop located near the Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, just a short walk from the west exit of Gotanda Station, on the side street next to the Gakken Building. The curry options here are (1) Kaligari Makio Curry (slightly sweet), (2) Kaligari Super Spicy Makio Curry (slightly spicy), and (3) a combination of both. I ordered the Ai Gake DX with additional toppings, and chose the option for a small portion of rice. The curry was served on a single plate with two types of curry, lettuce, boiled egg, coconut sambar, shredded carrots, and Rafute (Okinawan braised pork belly). The (1) curry had a mild coconut curry flavor, while the (2) curry was a spicy keema curry base. Mixing the two curries together was a delicious experience. The side dishes were also very authentic, with the coconut sambar reminding me of Southeast Asian flavors. The Rafute and boiled egg were both tender and flavorful. However, I felt that the curry could have been hotter; it was a bit lukewarm. The owner of the shop was very friendly, and I later found out that he is a comedian from the duo "Shamoji". I wish I could have chatted with him more. Overall, it was a great meal!

Had my first lunch at "Maki Otanikari" at Shinagawa Nishi-Gotanda, a bar operated by "Saraba Seishun no Hikari". It is said to be affiliated with the curry restaurant Caligari in Akihabara. A great new restaurant opened right in front of our Tokyo office.

This place operates during lunchtime at "Saraba BAR Gotanda" and is said to be an affiliated store of "Sangenjaya Karigari Makio Curry," a collaboration brand with the curry shop "Karigari," which won the Kanda Curry Grand Prix 2019. The owner is a comedian, and the service is very polite with a smiling face, leaving a good impression! This time, I had the following: - Aigake Makio Curry DX (large size) 1200 yen This is a combination of curry with coconut and a spicy curry with a kick of spices. The coconut flavor, spice aroma, and spiciness are very pleasant, making it a delicious curry (^.^) The rice is slightly yellowish with turmeric. You can get a free large size as well! Additionally, the plate comes with cilantro (optional), lettuce, boiled egg, carrots, and more. The ingredient that looked like bonito flakes was actually a mixture of coconut and fish powder called "Coconut Sambol," which surprisingly goes well with the curry (^.^) I am satisfied with the delicious curry. The contrast between sweet and spicy is clear, and it's delicious to blend them in different ratios while eating. Near the company, there is a curry restaurant called Maki Otanika Curry and Sayonara Bar-chan, where you can enjoy delicious curry. This is a restaurant known for being owned by a comedian. It is located a few minutes' walk from Gotanda Station. It is a trendy place that does guerrilla business, turning into a bar at night. I had decided what to eat in advance by researching online, so as soon as I entered, I ordered the Caligari Super Spicy Makio Curry DX, and added cilantro as a topping for an additional 100 yen. I was told that the rice could be served in a large portion for free, so I opted for that. The food arrived in about 3 minutes. The large rice portion, while free, was not very generous. The cilantro topping only had the leafy part, lacking the stem, so both the quantity and aroma were limited. I chose the spicier curry option, but it turned out to be sweeter, not very spicy. So the regular Makio curry may feel quite sweet. The carrot shirishiri with achar lacked spiciness. The coconut sambal did not provide a significant flavor change, but the flavored egg was delicious. This restaurant might be a hit with those who like sweeter curries. Thank you for the meal.

Today there was a lot of snow. It might be the first snow in Tokyo this year. My first curry of the year was from Makio Curry. I came here again because it was really delicious last year. This time I only ordered the "mixed curry". No extras like DX or drinks. It cost ¥1000. Just like last time, I ordered at the entrance and paid. The place was empty again, with only me and two staff members. The food was served in about 3 minutes. It was delicious, just like before. I took a bite of each separately, then mixed it all together. It may be messy, but that's how you eat spicy curry. Mixing it all together enhances the flavor. Thank you for this meal for ¥1000. There is a curry restaurant that opened in Gotanda without me realizing it. I heard that the comedian Shamoji Tanii is serving spice curry for lunch, so I came to try it. In the evening, they operate a members-only "Sayonara Seishun no BAR" where the comedy duo Sayonara Seishun no Hikari performs. The interior of the bar exudes nostalgia. It's a cozy place with about 5 counter seats and 4 table seats, and it was empty when I visited, giving it a private atmosphere. The menu consists of 2 types of curry and 3 types of combination curry. Each can be topped with deluxe toppings, giving you 6 choices to choose from. The curries are Caligari Makioka Curry and Caligari Super Spicy Makioka Curry. The deluxe toppings include achar, boiled egg, lettuce, and coconut sambal. The menu is posted on the entrance wall, and it seems to be a pay-first system. Surprisingly, Tanii himself kindly explains the curry options. I was recommended the combination curry with deluxe toppings, so I ordered it for ¥1200. I opted for extra rice for free. Since it's a good deal, I also added a Shikuwasa Lassi drink for ¥200. It was my first time, but I knew this was going to be delicious. I sat at the counter, prepared my own water, and before I knew it, the curry was ready in less than 3 minutes. The combination curry looked appetizing and smelled delicious. I started with the Makioka Curry. Wow! This is tasty! It has a coconut base with a spicy kick, on par with specialty spice curry shops. Spice curry has been trending lately, so I'm happy to be able to eat it more often, and this one is quite to my liking. Next, I tried the Super Spicy version. Oh, I see. This one has an even stronger spicy kick and a rich flavor. If I had to choose, I prefer this one. To differentiate it from the Makioka Curry, adding a bit more coconut flavor to the Makioka Curry would make it even better. Oh, the Shikuwasa Lassi. It's not as sour as I expected. It's different, not what I imagined. It has a refreshing taste, but it's a bit off from what I had in mind. I was surprised by how authentic the curry was, considering it's a comedian's restaurant. The prices for spice curry are reasonable, and I will definitely come back for more.

On Monday afternoon, I was in the mood for some Makio, so I decided to visit "Makio Tanikari" which operates as a lunchtime version of "Sayonara BAR" on weekdays. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that they use a pre-payment system. I quickly checked the menu and decided to order the "Aigake Makio Curry DX" (1200 yen). After a short wait, the much-anticipated DX arrived. I dug in right away. The taste was very Makio-like and quite delicious. I hope to try the crispy version next time if I get the chance.

I visited this restaurant for lunch for the first time and decided to order the Makioka curry, which seemed to be the signature dish. The curry had a hint of cilantro, and the rice was soft.
