On this day, I went to "Le Copain de Dominique Bouchet" in Ginza for lunch. This restaurant has also been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand. It is located in a building around the back of Tokyu Plaza, on B1F, and you go down the stairs or take the elevator. The interior of the restaurant has a warm atmosphere and looks very comfortable. We sat at a table and first ordered drinks. On this day, we ordered the course menu for Diners Club Restaurant Week, which included 2 appetizers, a fish dish, and a meat dish, so we asked for three types of wine pairings. Since 60ml seemed a bit small, we opted for the 90ml pairing (4,730 yen). The first pairing was a white wine, a Sauvignon Blanc with a mineral taste and a sweet honey-like finish.
- Salmon and Cream Cheese Canapé: The crispy sablé, the tanginess of the cream cheese, and the richness of the salmon blended well together.
- Cold Asparagus Velouté: A cold asparagus soup that I enjoy, with a refreshing aroma and elegant croutons.
- Marinated Common Squid and Seasonal Vegetable with New Onion Mousse: The umami of the common squid and the sweetness of the new onion mousse complemented each other well. The marinated mix of baby cabbage, pearl onions, paprika, peas added a nice texture.
The second pairing was a Provence rosé, with a pronounced saltiness and a cardamom-like aroma. It paired well with bread dipped in olive oil and salt, enhancing the flavors.
- Pan-fried Sillago: The crispy skin and rich flavor of the fish, combined with finely chopped olives, vegetables, and parsley oil, created a complex umami that paired well with the wine.
- Bordeaux Red Wine: A silky smooth wine that was a perfect match for the lamb roast that followed.
- Roasted Lamb Rack: This was delicious! The meat was smooth and juicy, with a rich flavor and not too fatty.
- Lemon Tart with Ice Cream: A tart with a surprising tangy lemon flavor that was very delicious.
- Coffee and Espresso: We enjoyed coffee and espresso with milk. There were also three types of herbal teas available, which looked delicious.
We leisurely enjoyed the lingering flavors of the dishes while nibbling on canelé and jelly. With the wine pairings and all the dishes, the total bill for two was just over 20,000 yen. It was a highly satisfying lunch. Thank you for the meal.
