I went to this udon restaurant in the Yoyogi, Shinjuku area, which is one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. Even though I went around 3 pm, an odd time, there was a wait of over 10 people. This is because they are particular about serving freshly made, freshly cut, freshly boiled udon, which takes a bit of time to prepare due to their commitment to quality. The popularity of this place really builds up expectations. I ordered the traditional style udon with beef and shrimp tempura, while my wife ordered udon with warm soy sauce, butter, pepper, onsen egg, and mentaiko. Our kids had udon with squid tempura and two types of fish tempura. The udon had a strong and firm texture, each strand was long and satisfying to eat. It had a smooth texture and was easy to eat. My wife's unique combination of udon seemed heavy, but surprisingly refreshing and brought out the flavor of the udon itself. My udon, which was the traditional style with sweet seasoned beef, and separately ordered scallop and shrimp tempura, were of high quality like a tempura specialty shop. This is definitely a udon restaurant worth revisiting.

I went to try the warm udon and tempura. The more toppings you add, the more expensive it gets. The udon and tempura were not impressive. I'm not sure if the staff at the register noticed me, and I won't go back even if I have to take a numbered ticket and wait in a long line.

First!! I often eat udon noodles, but I suddenly felt like eating udon from the moment I woke up, so I visited this place!! There were a lot of people from overseas, and we had to wait for 4 hours with a numbered ticket, but somehow we got in in less than 2 hours. I ordered the Kamatama udon with mentaiko topping, which was like a carbonara. It was definitely delicious. If I have the chance to go again, I would like to try the zaru udon. There were also many tempting tempura options, but I will save that for next time.

I visited this udon restaurant in the early evening, thinking it would be less crowded. It's a street-level shop located 6-7 minutes walk from Shinjuku Station South Exit. When I arrived around 5:50 PM, there were about 10 people waiting ahead of me. They issue numbered tickets for lining up, and I was able to enter in about 10 minutes due to some people leaving and new customers coming in. The male owner seemed strong as he vigorously made the udon noodles. The small shop had a straight counter with 6 seats and 4 tables with 2 seats each. About 70-80% of the customers were from overseas. I ordered the Cold Vinegar Citrus Udon for 1,120 yen. It arrived in about 10 minutes. - Noodles: They were long and had a firm yet soft texture. - Broth: The clear and high-quality flavor was enhanced by the strong kombu and bonito broth. - Toppings: I preferred the myoga (Japanese ginger) over the vinegar citrus as it added a more summery flavor.

I visited the restaurant during the day. The wait was about 200 minutes. I ordered the special tempura soba. The udon noodles were 1.5 servings and very filling. The tempura included shrimp, salmon, bitter melon, and green pepper, and it was very delicious.

I attended a training seminar nearby and checked in before the seminar started. Afterwards, I went back and was called right on time. There were many foreigners in line. Many of us were chatting at the register and not noticing the customers. I think it's worth checking in if you have something to do in Shinjuku. I ordered the limited edition Nagamo Udon.

A popular udon restaurant located in the Nishi-Shinjuku area, a bit off the Koshu Kaido street. The restaurant has high ratings on Tabelog, and I had been curious about it for a while, so I decided to visit for lunch on a holiday. The restaurant opens at 11:00 am, but they issue QR-coded numbered tickets starting from 9:00 am on the same day, so I first went to the machine in front of the restaurant to get my ticket. I arrived at the restaurant around 9:30 am, and my ticket number was 16, with a message to come back 60 minutes after the opening (you can confirm this by scanning the QR code with your smartphone). The interior of the restaurant is small, with only two counter seats and two table seats, so the turnover is not very high. While waiting in line outside the restaurant according to the ticket number, the staff came to take our orders, and once inside, the food was served promptly. There were various types of udon on the menu, but I decided to splurge and ordered the more expensive "Kamiten Zaru (2,680 yen)" this time. The Kamiten Zaru comes with 2 shrimp tempura, 4 vegetable tempura, and tempura of fish and squid. The udon had a good chewiness and a soft, elastic texture, which I found delicious. The tempura included unique ingredients like bitter melon, and each piece had a crispy coating, making it very tasty. The quality of the udon is high, but with the increase of affordable and delicious udon restaurants lately, I felt that the price was a bit high. Most of the customers were foreign tourists (Asian), so it seems to be popular among international visitors. If you are a udon lover and have some time to spare, I think it's worth a visit.

I received a ticket around 11:45 at a famous udon restaurant in Shinjuku, and was able to enter around 15:30. Since it was a ticket system, I didn't mind waiting at all as I could explore other places. There were many types of udon and tempura to choose from, so it was hard to decide. In the end, I ordered the standard Sudachi Oroshi Bukkake udon with a vegetable tempura topping, chikuwa, and a rich sweet potato tempura. The refreshing taste of grated daikon was great! The tempura included bitter melon, paprika, and red bell pepper, giving a nice taste of summer vegetables. I would like to try a different type of udon next time.

I wanted to have a meal at a popular restaurant in Shinjuku, but I didn't want something too mainstream, so I chose udon. I thought there wouldn't be a long line for udon, but I was wrong. The restaurant was crowded with many foreign tourists, so I decided to get a waiting ticket and go to a coffee shop nearby. However, I couldn't resist and went back to the restaurant. Surprisingly, if you wait in line, you don't have to wait for 3 hours. It was my first time experiencing this system, and the udon was worth the price. The noodles were served beautifully, making it hard to untangle, and the tempura was crispy and delicious. I would like to come back again, maybe next time I'll try the kama-tama udon. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a popular udon restaurant that even TWICE has visited, attracting tourists from all over the world. I arrived around 6 pm and had to wait for about 80 minutes before being seated. It was nice to have a Starbucks nearby! The restaurant was filled with about 90% foreigners. The udon noodles were firm and smooth, with a satisfying chewy texture. It was a pleasant experience.

This is a popular udon restaurant near Shinjuku South Exit. They seem to focus on achieving a good balance between firmness and chewiness in their noodles, and indeed, the udon was delicious and of high quality! It is located near Fuunji, a famous tsukemen restaurant. I didn't expect to see a line forming at a udon restaurant at 9:30 pm on a weekday, but there were 7 people waiting outside. Since the last order was at 10 pm, I barely made it in after waiting for about 10 minutes. The restaurant has a narrow space with 6 counter seats and 6 table seats. I ordered the bukkake udon (tax included 900 yen), which I found to be quite pricey for a bukkake udon. The tempura also looked delicious, but the prices for the higher-tier options like the tentama kake or tentama zaru, which come with 8 pieces of tempura, were a bit surprising, starting at 2,480 yen. I visited the restaurant that day wanting to have a light meal, so I opted for the bukkake udon. The simple bukkake had a refined and subtle taste, allowing me to fully appreciate the flavor of the udon noodles themselves. Even the regular portion had a decent amount of volume. It's also nice to customize the flavor with the white sesame seeds and shichimi pepper provided on the table.

Today's first stop was a Japanese sake all-you-can-drink place, where I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Afterwards, we headed to this udon shop, which is one of the top 100 udon shops in Japan. The udon here is truly delicious. While ramen is great for a meal, this kind of udon really hits the spot. I forgot to take a photo, but we also ordered a tempura assortment and had some beer, all for just 2,000 yen. It was pure bliss.

There are several delicious udon restaurants in Tokyo, but the wait of 120 minutes here was worth it for the full satisfaction of the deliciousness. I usually eat the standard menu, but this time I tried the popular mentaiko butter soy sauce udon. I saw other dishes being served as well, and each dish was beautifully presented with attention to detail, making them even more delicious. Although I don't usually have the courage to wait, I would like to go back to this restaurant to try different dishes.

On a Friday in July, around 9:15 am, I went to get a numbered ticket and I was number 6. I left to pass the time and came back at 11 am, only to find that my number had disappeared. I showed the ticket to the staff and they let me in. If you want to get in right when they open, it's best to get the ticket around 9 am. The restaurant had a lot of foreign customers, and the staff were busy but friendly. The seating was limited, with 6 counter seats and 2 tables for 3 people each. I was seated at the counter. It seemed like many people were ordering cold udon, and there was a variety of alcohol available. I noticed Flamingo Orange (sweet potato shochu) on display, which I love. I ordered the Ebi and Seasonal Vegetable Tempura Udon for 1870 yen. The udon was served cold with a refreshing broth, and the tempura was freshly fried in front of me. The shrimp tempura was my favorite. The presentation of the udon was beautiful but a bit difficult to eat neatly. The staff were friendly and worked well together. It's a popular restaurant, so it's best not to linger too long. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience.

The udon was delicious with a firm texture. During my previous visit on a weekend for lunch, I waited for almost an hour, but this time I went on a weekday night at 9:30 pm, just before the last order, and was seated in about 15 minutes. The customers were mostly foreign tourists. Maybe because of that, the cost performance might be a bit poor... Each bowl of udon costs just over 1000 yen. It was not a good idea to go right before the last order, but I wish they would do the cleaning after the customers leave. They were cleaning with oil, and since I was eating at the counter, the smell of oil filled the air and made me feel a little uncomfortable... It depends on what you are looking for. The taste is undoubtedly good.

Udon specialty restaurant known for its homemade noodles. On a Saturday morning, got a numbered ticket before 10 am, ended up being the 16th group with a 59-minute wait. Great system where you don't have to wait in line outside. Returned around 11 am and got seated at 11:40 am in the small, packed restaurant mostly filled with Korean customers. While waiting in line, decided to order the Niku-Tama Udon with meat and egg for 1540 yen. It was delicious, but the noodles were a bit lacking and the meat flavor was strong. I still think cold udon with its beautiful presentation is the way to go for the ultimate udon experience. When in doubt, go for the most expensive or the cheapest item! I feel like I may have made a mistake this time. Thank you for the meal.

It is recommended for when you have plenty of time and want to go to a trendy restaurant! [Nearest Station] Shinjuku Station, 10 minutes on foot [Visit Time] Saturday, around 9:00 PM [Waiting Time] 2 hours [Number of People] 1 [Order] Shrimp and seasonal vegetable tempura over rice for 1870 yen I waited for so long. Even after being called with a ticket, I waited for another 30 minutes in front of the restaurant. It is delicious, but just delicious in a normal way. If I have to wait this long to eat, I might choose somewhere else. The tempura is hot, but the udon is warm and lacks the desired firmness, so the cold one is more delicious. Thank you for the meal!
