It's been a while since I visited Tornevent in Nishi-Azabu, and as always, the food was truly delicious! I highly recommend everyone to try it. This restaurant serves dishes from the Piedmont region of Italy. What's remarkable about this place is that every time you visit, there are new and innovative items on the menu, offering something different from the last time. The consistency in the presentation of the dishes and the close relationship with the restaurant are also great. (They are currently operating with shortened hours, have a rainbow mark indicating infection control measures, and are taking proper precautions. I took a taxi to and from the restaurant as I am afraid of taking the train. Today, there were no other customers, and it seemed quite challenging for them.) The special New Year's dish was Pot-au-feu, but the rest of the menu was the regular offerings. The menu included: - Warm carpaccio of fresh squid and bottarga - Seasonal vegetables (artichokes, etc.) with sformato, spinach and gorgonzola cheese, served with Kitaakari potato chips - Gratin of leeks with fontina cheese, garnished with truffles - Tomato risotto with various vegetables using the broth from the Pot-au-feu - Traditional Italian New Year's dish, a pot-au-feu of various meats (pancetta, pork spare ribs, beef tongue, shredded chicken, beef shank, various sausages made with different cuts, beef tail) with 7 sauces (2 types of bagnet sauce, pickled wasabi vinegar sauce, whole grain mustard, apricot purée sauce, homemade mayonnaise, salt) - Apple strudel (Hungarian traditional dish) - A bottle of wine (Malvira), two glasses of wine, and a dessert wine, totaling around 20,000 yen per person. The chef's special course is available for 10,000 yen. The husband trained in Italy, while the wife trained at the Malvira winery in Piedmont, so the wine selection includes Barolo, Barbaresco, and many Malvira wines, which are all delicious! The dessert wine, also from Malvira, was slightly sparkling, highly aromatic, and had a fruity flavor, which was fantastic. We also enjoyed a red wine blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Merlot from Tuscany, called Cinquanta e Cinquanta, which was also delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
