Located 1-2 minutes on foot from Tokyo's Kasuga Station, "Shinkoen" is a yakiniku restaurant with branches on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building. On the 3rd floor, guests must remove their shoes before entering. The restaurant's specialty is its marinade sauce passed down from the founder, which can be enjoyed with a salty flavor. They use Miyazaki Hinata Bincho charcoal for smokeless yakiniku. With a wide variety of menu items and generous portion sizes, this yakiniku restaurant is recommended for those looking to enjoy quality meat at reasonable prices.

I went to a yakiniku restaurant on an empty stomach. The menu was digitalized, and the touch panel was interesting. I forgot to take photos of some dishes, but the thick-cut beef tongue was particularly delicious, so I had seconds. The special sauce was tasty, but I recommend the standard salt seasoning with plenty of lemon squeezed on top. For dessert, I had spicy cold noodles. The spiciness was not enough for me, so I asked for extra gochujang, but the dish was satisfying with a generous amount of vegetables. Overall, it was a dinner with a high level of satisfaction.

Located about 3 minutes from Kasuga Station along Shirayama Street, **Shinkaen** is a two-story restaurant with the entrance on the second floor, accessible by elevator. The second floor has table seating, while the third floor focuses on tatami seating. The menu includes: - Kalbi/Ribeye set meal @ 1,330 yen - Harami grilled meat set meal @ 1,280 yen For lunch from 11:00 to 16:00, prices range from 1,000 to 3,000 yen, offering a wide selection. Even at the 1,000 yen range, you can enjoy a satisfying meal, especially the Kalbi and Harami which are delicious. The portions are generous, enough to satisfy men as well. The meat is tender, with marbled Kalbi available. After the meal, they offer complimentary oranges and iced coffee. In the evenings, the restaurant also offers good value for money, providing high-quality meat. **Shinkaen** Address: 1-11-13 Koishikawa, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 3-minute walk from Kasuga Station, 5-minute walk from Korakuen Station Business Hours: [Sun-Thu] 11:00-22:30, [Fri-Sat] 11:00-23:00 Closed: None Payment: Cash, cards, electronic money, QR code payment (PayPay) Seats: 90, private rooms available, reservations possible All seats non-smoking (outdoor smoking area available) Parking: None Website: http://shinkaen.jp #Shinkaen #YakinikuShinkaen #HaramiSetMeal #KalbiGrilledMeat #Kalbi #Harami #Ribeye #GreatValue #CostEffectiveYakiniku #YakinikuLunch #KorakuenLunch #KorakuenGourmet #KasugaLunch #KasugaGourmet #GrilledMeatSetMeal

Lunch at Shinkoen, a large-scale yakiniku restaurant located a 2-3 minute walk from Kasuga Station A5 exit, costs ¥1,330 including tax for the Kalbi and Harami set meal. The restaurant boasts "smokeless charcoal grilling" on its sign, but inside, it has a traditional, smoky atmosphere. The staff, mostly Asian foreigners, may not be very attentive. Orders can be placed using the tablet on the table. The lunch menu is extensive, and last orders are taken until 4:00 pm on weekends and holidays, which is quite convenient. I ordered the Kalbi and Harami set meal, which arrived in about 7 minutes. In addition to the main meat dishes, the set meal includes salad, namul, tsukemono, boiled egg, soup, and even a drink and fruit for dessert. The boiled egg in broth was a bit of a mystery, but overall, the meal was satisfying. Rice refills are allowed, but extra-large portions are not available. The meat quality was average, but the sauce was rich and flavorful. The fruity and sweet sauce soaked into the meat, resulting in a delicious, charred flavor. The Kalbi, in particular, was thick and well-marbled, while the Harami was a bit tough. If you're looking for a lunch spot in the Kasuga area, why not try mixing the flavorful grilled meat with white rice at this sauce-based yakiniku restaurant?

A family of 4 entered the restaurant and sat in the tatami room on the 2nd floor. The 1st floor had table seating, while the 2nd floor had sunken kotatsu seating where you take off your shoes. The seat we were guided to already had a fire lit and small dishes were arranged. The 2nd floor mostly had tables for 6 people, but we were able to use a spacious table for 4. The wide table made it easy to eat even when ordering a lot, and having 2 grills was really great. As shown in the 3rd picture, there were paper, disinfectant, scissors, and a pitcher of barley tea provided. I love tea, so just having barley tea made me a bit more excited. The barley tea was delicious. We ordered kalbi, harami, kakuteki, cheese tteokbokki, spicy cold noodles, and lotus root sashimi. I wanted to try the bibimbap as well because I heard it was delicious, but I was too full. Next time, for sure! The kalbi and harami were larger and thicker than at other yakiniku restaurants. They were tender and had a lot of flavor. The harami had no unpleasant smell at all. It was so flavorful that if you closed your eyes, you'd think you were eating steak. The side menu was very extensive, with options like hot pot, sashimi, 3 types of cold noodles, and jeon. Just looking at the menu was enjoyable. I want to try everything in one bite... The side menu is so good that I could come just for that. The cheese tteokbokki had a unique taste. If you're used to frozen or instant tteokbokki, it might feel a bit different. However, it had lots of vegetables inside, which was a pleasant surprise for vegetable lovers. Bell peppers, paprika, green onions, shiitake mushrooms, cucumbers, and frisee lettuce. Full of vegetables. All of them were delicious and sweet. I love spicy food, so I ordered the spicy cold noodles instead of the regular one. It was sufficiently spicy and delicious. Adding vinegar made it even better. I'm not very knowledgeable, but the noodles were not transparent like in Korea, but had a color like konnyaku. They were chewy but not overly tough. The lotus root sashimi was crunchy and tasty. Everything we ate had a satisfying texture. The restaurant was mostly filled with families and company gatherings. It's nice to have a family-friendly restaurant. We placed our orders using a tablet. There was a feature that calculated the split bill for us when we input the desired number of people. Very convenient. When we checked the bill, there was a service charge of 5 displayed, but it seemed like they were deducting 5 percent as a charge. The staff were all polite and quick to assist with any questions. Oh, by the way, you can request a stronger highball. I'd like to try their lunch next time. (By the way, the restrooms are separate for men and women) This information is surprisingly important for women.笑

I often visit a yakiniku restaurant for lunch. My go-to order is the Stamina Teishoku with sauce. It's a satisfying set meal with harami, liver, and bone-in kalbi. If you like dipping sauces, you can also ask for meunjan or gochujang. I recommend trying the cheese tofu as well!

After walking north on Hakusan Street for about 4 minutes from Korakuen Station, you will find this restaurant on your left. I searched this area for a late lunch and found it. The lunch time on weekends and holidays is until 3:40 PM, which is convenient. Around 2:30 PM on Saturdays, about 60% of the customers were enjoying yakiniku with a beer in hand, including couples. The TV was showing a Major League game, giving the restaurant a nostalgic yakiniku vibe. Orders are placed using a touch panel. The lunch set menu is very diverse, spanning several pages with options like yakiniku, seafood (squid and oysters), bibimbap, cold noodles, and tofu sets. I decided to try the popular Wagyu harami set. The Wagyu harami was thickly cut and had a satisfying texture. It was neither dry nor tough, but rather tender and juicy. The seasoning was not too strong, but I felt it needed a bit more saltiness to enhance the flavor. The side dishes were average, but the salad and orange were fresh. The hot coffee was like what you would find in a family restaurant, but considering the price, I had no complaints. Overall, I think this is a great place to enjoy charcoal-grilled meat at a reasonable price.

This is a long-established yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurant called "Shinken" founded in 1962. Personally, I highly recommend it in the Korakuen/Kasuga area, and it's quite popular. It's located about a 3-minute walk from Kasuga Station on the Toei Mita Line, on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building along Hakusan Street. I visited for lunch around 11:30 am on a weekday. There was no wait when I took the elevator to the 2nd floor of the building. Upon entering, there were 3 customers already seated. I sat at a table with my colleague in the spacious restaurant. There are also private rooms on the 3rd floor. The lunch menu has a wide variety of options, but strangely all the jumbo set meals were sold out. After some hesitation, I ordered the A5 Wagyu Beef BBQ Set for ¥1,400. First, a bean sprout namul and glass noodle salad were served as appetizers. They were decent. The main dish arrived shortly after, which included salad, seasoned boiled egg, marinated eggplant with beef, and sauce. It also came with rice and seaweed soup. I placed the beef on the charcoal grill provided and enjoyed the luxury of having BBQ for lunch. While waiting for it to cook, I had the salad and boiled egg, which were delicious. The boiled egg was lightly seasoned and tasty. The beef was tender and flavorful when dipped in the sauce. Although it was disappointing that all the jumbo set meals were sold out, the taste was excellent. Rice refills are free, so eat as much as you want. The lunch may be a bit pricey, but it's a nice treat for yourself, right? Lastly, a drink and a slice of orange were served. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch. When I left, the restaurant was almost full! It's truly a popular place. I'll come back for dinner next time. Thank you for the meal! 🍴

I visited for the first time. I chose the course with all-you-can-drink for 7000 yen! I didn't think it was a great deal, but the food was really delicious. Especially the thick-cut salted beef tongue was amazing, so if you go, be sure to try it. The food came out at a good pace in the beginning, but it got crowded in the later part and became slow...

Personally, my top recommendation in the Korakuen area is the popular yakiniku restaurant "Shinkaen". I always go there for lunch. The menu is reasonably priced and has a wide variety. The slices are very large, juicy, and delicious! It's a satisfying lunch. It's almost always full on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Thank you for the meal!

This time, I visited Shin Kaen, located about a 5-minute walk from Kasuga Station on the Toei Subway. The restaurant was lively, and the staff provided friendly and courteous service, leaving a good impression! They have a wide variety of meat options and other menu items, with prices relatively reasonable. The Harami (skirt steak) was especially delicious. Also, the stone-grilled Bibimbap with raw egg was amazing. I definitely want to go back to eat there again!

If you're looking for yakiniku, this is the place to go! It's a restaurant that you'll miss if you don't visit regularly. I made it just in time for lunch, and once again had the reliable premium sauce set meal. The side dishes that come with it - kimchi, namul, Korean cold tofu, Korean seaweed - are enough to fill you up on their own. There are a lot of trendy yakiniku places popping up, but in terms of cost performance, this place is the best.

It might be one of the best cost-performance restaurants in the city center. I think it's because of their own building. It's unrelated, but even though there were only two of us, we drank too much and it became troublesome, so they started serving us highballs in a pitcher halfway through, haha. #Kasuga #Korakuen #Suidobashi #Yakiniku #Salt-grilled #Premium thick-cut tongue salt #Upper Kalbi salt #Pork belly salt-grilled #Rubbing sauce #Japanese beef #Upper Kalbi #Upper loin #Miso sauce #Oyster spicy miso grilled #Beef sinew #Hormone #Miso stewed dish #Kimchi #Namul #Salad #Pure tofu #Special assorted set #All-you-can-drink

Thirty years ago, there was a gathering of seven members from different industries at a restaurant (although there were actually around 70 members). The restaurant was chosen by one of the members, who is a regular there, because it offered delicious food at a reasonable price. The member recommended the "harami" as being particularly tasty. We started with a toast of draft beer and later mixed in a generous amount of makgeolli to create a unique drink called "makgeolli beer," which had a slightly yogurt-like flavor and was quite enjoyable. As soon as we sat down, the charcoal was already burning, and kimchi and namul were served as appetizers. We enjoyed these with our makgeolli beer. Next, we tried the "choregi salad" made with lettuce and tomatoes, dressed with a flavorful sesame oil and sweet sauce. Then, we moved on to grilling the "negi shio tan," which had a mix of tough and tender textures but was well-seasoned. Finally, we indulged in the main dish, the "harami," which had a sweet and rich marinade. The restaurant seemed to have a slightly sweet flavor profile, but everything was delicious. We couldn't resist ordering more harami, and even though we were getting full, we managed to enjoy the cheese sundubu for dessert. It turned out to have potatoes in it, which was a surprise, but the cheese made the dish mild and satisfying. We didn't end up having rice that night, but the harami was so good that we were already planning our next visit for a harami set lunch. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience.

Shinkoen "Kasuga" menu offers delicious salted tongue, kalbi, harami, and rosu yakiniku. It has been about a year since my last visit. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, making it easy to get a reservation. I recommend the salted tongue, which has a unique salt seasoning with a hint of sweetness. The harami in sweet sauce pairs well with rice. Overall, it is a reasonably priced and unique place to enjoy yakiniku. I highly recommend this restaurant in the area.

I overslept and missed breakfast before heading to work. Last night, I had a spicy meal at an Indian Nepalese restaurant, so I was in the mood for something light. With the cold temperature, I decided to go for Korean cuisine, specifically a soup. I found a hidden gem Korean restaurant with affordable prices and a wide variety of menu options. Although I initially wanted Ox Bone Soup (Gomtang), I couldn't resist the Oyster and Tofu Soup. I ended up choosing the "Mentaiko and Dried Cod Soup," which wasn't in my original choices. This often happens to me. Dried Cod Soup, known as "Poguk" in Korea, is a popular choice for hangover remedy. The meal started with salad and two side dishes, followed by a bowl of soup and a small stone pot bibimbap. Although I wasn't hungover today, the soup still warmed my body that's constantly being affected by alcohol. The dried cod is tightly packed due to the drying process, resulting in a great texture and concentrated flavor. I also enjoyed the thinly sliced rice cakes (Tteok) that kept the meal interesting. There were many people grilling meat in the afternoon, and the lunchtime atmosphere was filled with the sound of burning charcoal. Initially, the warmth was comforting coming from the cold outside, but as my body warmed up from the meal, the heat from the charcoal became overwhelming. It made me sweat profusely, and I felt like I was participating in a fire ritual. However, stepping outside into the cool air afterwards was refreshing, similar to the feeling after a sauna and cold plunge. This made me wonder if people who enjoy saunas and cold plunges experience something similar. Personally, I find saunas boring because I don't like sitting still.

Today's lunch was at "Shin Kaen" restaurant. It is a yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) restaurant located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building near Kasuga subway station (photo 1). The menu outside the restaurant is shown in photo 2. I arrived around noon and was directed to go up to the 3rd floor at the reception on the 2nd floor. The restaurant was bustling with various customers. We sat in a tatami room and ordered using a touch panel system. Unfortunately, the Jumbo set was sold out, so I settled for the Kalbi set (¥1,280). The food, including salad and small dishes, arrived within a few minutes (photo 3). The portion of meat was quite generous. The price of around ¥1,300 including tax may seem high or low, but considering the soup, salad, small dishes, and dessert included, it's actually a good value. I paid with PayPay and received a 30% point back thanks to the Bunkyo Ward campaign, making it a great deal. I would like to visit again before the campaign ends.

Today I visited for lunch. I had the premium sauce-grilled set for 3,870 yen and the bone mountain kalbi set for 1,250 yen. The bone mountain kalbi and rice were incredibly delicious. If you come at night, be sure to order the top tongue, top kalbi, and top loin - these three items are a must! If you're going to eat yakiniku, this is the place to go! Just come and try it out, even if you think you're being deceived!

Today, I brought a lunchbox to work with salad mix and boiled eggs, but I wasn't in the mood for it on a Friday. I wanted something warm and this restaurant came to mind. It's located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of an old building. I was guided to the 3rd floor, where you have to take off your shoes because it's all sunken kotatsu seating. The menu offers a variety of options including grilled meat lunches, stews, rice dishes, and soups. I resisted the temptation to order grilled meat as I felt like having a drink, so I opted for the Kalbitang and stone pot mini bibimbap set. The meal came out quickly with salad, Kalbitang, and mini bibimbap. The stone pot bibimbap wasn't hot enough to create a crispy layer on the bottom, but it was still delicious. Adding the Kochoojang made it even better. The Kalbitang had a tender beef tail simmered with vegetables, and it was very comforting. It's a popular spot for business district lunches with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. I look forward to trying the oyster sundubu next time.
