I was dining alone, but there was a counter which made me feel at ease. The spacious interior was initially empty, but soon several elegant ladies from Bunkyo Ward started coming in. Even with that many seats, it's impressive how they manage to attract customers for weekday lunch. I was in the mood for pizza, so I ordered the Chicken Breast and Olive Marinara. I sat right in front of the kiln, watching the pizza being made and baked in front of me. Before long, it was brought to me. The acidity and umami of the tomatoes, the flavor of the olives, and the texture of the chicken breast all blended together perfectly and tasted incredibly delicious. The crust also had a strong wheat aroma, satisfying my senses. There is also a terrace and the atmosphere is nice, so I would like to visit again on another occasion.

Located about a 10-minute walk from Kasuga Station on the Oedo Line and Korakuen, the Italian restaurant Aoi Napoli is facing a shortage of kitchen staff. Even though they are recruiting, they are having trouble finding new employees. As a result, they explained that they may not be able to prepare all the pasta dishes on the menu, but they did their best to be efficient with the available resources. This Italian restaurant with a stylish terrace seat is really nice. I visited during Golden Week. I was surprised to find such a stylish restaurant in the middle of a residential area. Having a beer on the terrace during this season is just the best. The pizza, penne, and gnocchi were all delicious, especially the pizza with plenty of chewy cheese. I visited this restaurant on a Saturday at 11 am, after two years, and found out that only the counter was available without a reservation. It seems to be quite popular, so it's better to make a reservation on Saturdays. I always think this place deserves more recognition. The spacious grounds, including a terrace, make it feel like it's not in Tokyo. Plus, all the menu items are very reasonably priced. For lunch, it's around 1,500 yen, and for dinner, it's 4,000 to 5,000 yen with generous portions. Most importantly, everything you order is consistently good. It's understandable why you need to make a reservation. This time, my wife and I ordered pasta and pizza to share. We had the Spizza Salad Lunch for 1,500 yen, which had shirasu and spinach with Genovese sauce. It may seem light with the shirasu and spinach, but the Genovese sauce makes it rich. We also had the Spaghetti with octopus, 3 kinds of mushrooms, and green olives in tomato sauce for 1,350 yen, with salad and bread set. We opted for the large portion for an extra 450 yen. The octopus may be small, but the sauce has a rich octopus flavor. It's truly a hidden gem and highly recommended.

Shortly after, a carrot dressing salad was served. Then, bread was silently placed (is this for two people?) followed by a silent serving of potage soup... Why is there no explanation? I took a bite and it was delicious. When the main dish arrived, I asked and found out it was white cabbage potage. Now, how will the main dish be? I'm excited. When I cut into it, the meat was tender and soft. Delicious, but why is the salt flavor so strong? A bit disappointing... This place has a nice atmosphere with unique large dishes, so I hope they will do better.
