At Kitasando Station, I arrived at 11:34 AM (lol)!! I love both curry and cheese (lol)!! As I approached the restaurant, I saw a line already forming. Standing in line, the enticing aroma of curry stimulated my appetite (lol)!! After waiting for 85 minutes, I finally entered the restaurant. The payment is made upfront (lol)!! There were many options to choose from, but since it was my first visit today, I decided to go with the 2nd most popular menu item, the Large Egg Keema Curry with a Small Green Salad. They recommended a drink with the spicy curry, and since I like berry flavors, I ordered Cranberry Juice (lol)!! First, the Cranberry Juice and Small Green Salad arrived... The Green Salad is meant for one person (lol)!! And then, the main dish arrived. The Large Egg Keema Curry looked irresistible with its aromatic smell (lol)!! The curry was indeed spicy and packed a punch. The smell of burnt cheese on the hot plate was also tantalizing (lol)!! If you order curry, you can get a drink at half price. You can enjoy various combinations and it's a great way to have fun (lol)!! I want to try other curry dishes as well, and I have already decided to come back (lol)!!

I had been curious about this place for years, but I always thought it would be crowded and difficult to get to. After doing some research, I found out it's walking distance from Harajuku Station, so I decided to go by myself. I went around 2:00 PM on a weekday and was able to get in without waiting. Depending on the timing, some people were relaxing outside. Even though it's marketed towards women, I personally found the portions to be small. Everyone's preferences are different. Overall, it's a curry I would like to try again. There were also many stylish people there.

I had some errands in Harajuku and decided to have lunch on my way back. The nearest station is Kitasando, but it's not too far from Harajuku Station so I walked there. I arrived during off-peak lunch hours, so there was no wait to get in. It's a pre-payment system. I ordered the Cheese Keema Curry for 1,380 yen and was seated promptly. The dish was served in about 5 minutes. The first bite was delicious. The rich cheese and curry spices were amazing. Mixing in the egg yolk added a nice touch. However, the M size was quite filling. As I kept eating, I started to get a bit tired of the flavor, and by the time I finished, I was quite full. Maybe I should have gone for the S size or half cheese. But the taste was still good. Thank you for the meal.

I always wanted to go to this famous Keyma curry restaurant! I thought it would be difficult to access from Kitasando, but when I looked it up, I found out that you can also get there from Harajuku. After walking a bit and seeing fewer shops around, I started to worry if I was in the right place, but then I spotted it. I went there on a Friday night around 7:30 PM. The exterior exudes a stylish atmosphere. As soon as you open the door, you see a counter with lots of bottles of alcohol. Further inside, there are CDs stacked up, books displayed, and paintings on the walls. The slightly dim lighting creates a relaxed atmosphere where time seems to flow slowly. It's really nice. When I arrived, there were only about two groups of people inside, and there were plenty of seats available. Maybe because it was a rainy day. I was guided to a seat at the back. They operate on a one drink order system at night, so I ordered a Dewar's soda mix. My friend ordered a pomegranate lassi. There are five different types of lassi, so that was also intriguing. Now, what curry should I choose? I was torn, but since the cheese keema curry is recommended at this restaurant, I decided to go for the half cheese keema curry (¥1,280) this time. They have sizes SML, and they recommend S for women and M for men, so I ordered the S size. (The size not only affects the rice but also the curry sauce. It's nice to have this kind of consideration.) The dish arrived. It's a keema curry base with half of it covered in white cheese. The egg yolk in the center, along with the cheese, makes it visually perfect and beautiful! I had seen it in photos, but seeing it in person got me excited! I started by breaking the yolk in the center and then tried to scoop from the cheese-covered side with a spoon...hmm. The layer of cheese is thicker than I thought. Even when I scooped it, it stretched endlessly and was hard to cut. I had to use the spare spoon to handle the stretchy cheese, but I managed to cut it. Let's dig in. The curry is slightly spicy. As I progressed through the meal, the spiciness spread, but thanks to the generous amount of cheese and egg yolk, it was well balanced. The cheese was even chewier than I imagined. Yes, it's delicious! By the second bite, I could eat it with just a spoon normally. Before I knew it, I had finished it cleanly. Even though it was an S size, it was quite satisfying. You can change the cheese to cheddar and there are also several toppings, so next time I might try something adventurous. I was also curious about the unique lassi, so I'd like to try that next time. Please note that they do not accept credit cards for payment. (Cash and PayPay are accepted.) Not only the taste but also the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant made me feel comfortable and I really liked it. I want to come back again! Thank you for the meal.

The interior of the shop was cute, and the appearance of the curry was also cute, but the taste was very ordinary. I'm not sure if the cheese was clumped together or if it was originally that way, but it wasn't the gooey texture I had imagined; it was hard and not very flavorful. The service was quick, so I wondered if they had prepared it in advance and let it sit. I was a little disappointed as I had high expectations.

Arrived around 11:50 on Saturday. There were 6 people waiting outside. Got seated at 12:15. Waited for about 25 minutes. It seemed like the timing for switching customers, as those who lined up behind me were able to enter smoothly. They have switched to a prepayment system, so I ordered an Avocado Cheese Keema Curry in size M and a lassi at the counter, totaling 1,900 yen. The interior of the restaurant is stylish with an antique vibe, creating a calm atmosphere. It was originally a bar, so they have a wide variety of alcohol options. It might be nice to use it as a bar during dinner time. The curry was served in less than 10 minutes after being seated. The appearance is truly unique! When I cut into it, the cheese was firmer than I expected and had good stretchiness, making it a bit difficult to cut. The keema is spicy but not overly hot. It has a refined taste from the meat's umami and the broth of aromatic vegetables. When you take a bite with plenty of avocado and cheese, it significantly tones down the keema. Eating just the keema and rice brings out the curry's spiciness, which is very delicious. The rice is cooked slightly firm, balancing well with the keema. I refreshed my palate with the lassi in between bites. It's quite rich and creamy. If you love keema, I recommend trying it at least once.

Sangenjaya. This is a highly competitive curry area. After looking at the list, I chose a restaurant with a particularly attractive appearance. When I arrived after 1 pm, it was full. No lines. I waited about 10 minutes and entered. There is a menu on an unused door outside the restaurant, so it's smooth to decide while waiting in line. Since I had chosen based on appearance, I wanted to eat something that looked good. I ordered the Twin Cheese Curry. The rice portion was more substantial than I expected. I ordered a medium, but a small would have been enough. If you want to avoid the outcome of eating too much at a trendy curry restaurant, go for a small. It may look small in the photos, but it's not. The spice's character stands out despite the cute appearance. It's delicious. However, the Twin Cheese or Double Cheese can be heavy towards the end, especially the mozzarella. It's the kind of heavy that you can peel off. If you're going to add toppings, a half portion is enough. I also ordered a lassi. It may vary by individual, but it was mostly yogurt. Drinking the heavy liquid with a straw was a bit disappointing. If it's supposed to be lassi, it should have a bit more milk or mint added. Overall, I think it's worth lining up for. With a bit more tweaking, it could be the best curry restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

[Nearest Station] Fukutoshin Line, Kitasando Station Exit 2 → About 6 minutes Today, I made a reservation in advance aiming to open at 18:00 for dinner time. The interior of the restaurant is made of wood with just the right amount of lighting, creating a space that looks like a bar at first glance. Personally, I love this kind of atmosphere. Around 18:15, customers started to arrive from all directions, and the restaurant quickly became full. There was even a waiting list outside. Being in the Harajuku area, there were quite a few young people. The restaurant itself is quite compact with only about 10 seats including the counter, so making a reservation in advance is definitely necessary! The regular table seats are also close together, so I recommend the counter seats for a more spacious experience! [Today's Order] - Avocado Cheese Keema Curry (Size M) ¥1,580 (tax included) - Grape Lassi ¥890 (tax included) Today, I chose the Avocado Cheese Keema Curry that I was looking forward to. There are sizes S, M, and L available, and when I asked the staff, they said that women usually order S and men usually order M. I chose M, and by the time I finished, I was comfortably full. Ordering L seems like a challenge unless you're really hungry. It was definitely Instagram-worthy! The keema was placed on top of the rice, with avocado slices arranged in a circle and coated with cheese. There was a yolk on top. My companion ordered the regular Keema Curry, and later on, they were sweating and saying it was quite spicy due to the spices that came afterwards. Mine, on the other hand, was mild with the creaminess of cheese, yolk, and avocado, allowing me to enjoy it without being overwhelmed by spiciness. It was not just visually appealing, but also delicious! You can tell the seriousness of the keema at this restaurant from the complex spice aroma! Even after leaving the restaurant, my mouth was filled with spices for about 30 minutes. Next time, I might challenge the "Grilled Keema Curry." Thank you for the meal! Phew~. ☆At the time of posting (3.74)

I felt like eating curry and had been curious about Mokubaza for a while. I went around 2pm on a weekday and was able to get in without waiting. The pre-reputation was too high, but the regular Keema curry was slightly spicy... As a man, they kept recommending M size, but S size was enough. Even though I was eating it normally, the cheese started to harden towards the end, which was disappointing. Payment is made in advance with cash or PayPay. Half Cheese Keema Curry S size 1280 yen, Lassi 320 yen.

A cozy and slightly retro curry restaurant with delicious Keema curry. The interior is not very spacious, but the lighting is just right, creating a calming atmosphere for dining. There were couples, groups of two men, and a group of about four people dining in the back. The Keema curry tasted authentic and delicious. The combination of cheese was excellent as expected. They also offer avocado curry and baked curry, which I would like to try next time. I ordered a Corona beer for drinks, served in a bottle with a lime on the rim. The total cost was around 2,000 yen per person including drinks. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Coriander keema curry with cheese topping. It's been a while since I visited this popular curry restaurant near the Tokyo office. I arrived 20 minutes before opening and was the first in line. By opening time, there were about 10 people waiting. This time, I tried the cheese topping with my favorite coriander. The cheese was halved. It may not look very cute in the photo, but the taste was amazing. The spiciness was mild, but the flavor was rich, making the beer taste even better. Thank you for the meal!

I made a reservation two days in advance for a restaurant I really dislike that has a one drink minimum. It was right after the Obon holiday, so I could only get a reservation for 6:00 PM. The restaurant is small with a retro atmosphere. I ordered the Half Cheese Keema Curry S and the Pakuchi Keema Curry. The difference between the M size and the regular size is not just the rice, but also the amount of curry. The curry was dry, the rice was dry, and even the cheese was hard. The meal was not great, despite looking good for Instagram. The drink was overpriced at 650 yen, and the ice melted quickly. Thanks to this experience, I was able to diet.

On Saturday night, everyone started clamoring about being hungry, so we decided to do a majority vote on what to eat. To our surprise, all 6 of us requested curry! We all burst out laughing at how in sync we were. Today, we weren't feeling like Ebisu, so we decided to take a taxi to my favorite place in Sendagaya. My favorite curry spot in Sendagaya is Yogorou, but we wouldn't make it there in time. I remembered MOKUBAZA, a place I went to with a friend about 3 years ago. It's been popular for about 20 years now, which is quite impressive. Considering how many restaurants close down quickly due to just social media hype... The location is close to Ron Herman Cafe. I had just had a salad lunch there last month. It was a Saturday, so we were worried, but we were able to get seated right away. Everyone was so hungry that we immediately placed our orders. Avocado Cheese Keema x6, Roasted Tomato Keema x1. I ordered a small, while the others got mediums. We also got Mango Lassi x6, Corona beer x1. It was surprising that everyone ordered the same thing except for me... We got our curry in about 20 minutes. The food looked delicious, and everyone was so focused on eating. It was a joy to watch them enjoy their meal... I'm definitely being a bit of a mom here. One of the guys preferred the cheese-less Roasted Tomato. The Keema was quite authentic and had a good amount of spices. I like the slight acidity from the tomatoes. It's tricky to get the roasting just right, sometimes I end up cutting them too small when I try to make it at home... Before we knew it, we were done. We were satisfied and walked to Harajuku Station with light steps. It was a fun dinner, but as I was transferring the photos to my phone, it froze. I lost all the photos from today. This is the second time it crashed while transferring... I might need to get it checked soon, or I'll keep losing important photos... It's getting quite popular on social media, so it might be a good idea. Finally, I'm looking forward to something special at the end of the month, and I'm excited for the event too.

I fell in love at first sight with a keema curry specialty store that I saw in a magazine, so I went there. I ordered the most popular cheese keema curry and mango lassi. The curry was coated with a thick layer of cheese, and the spicy keema curry had a good punch between the cheese and rice. The rice, curry, and cheese were firmly packed together, giving a satisfying texture. Towards the end, I broke a raw egg for a change in flavor. When my tongue couldn't handle the spiciness anymore, I used the mango lassi to balance it out. I left feeling satisfied.

Curry battleground, Jingu-mae area, I wanted to try this place♡ Originally opened as a bar, but the dry curry became popular and now it's a curry specialty shop during the day. I tried the Nut Keema Curry. The moment I ate it, it had a somewhat nostalgic taste with a strong impact of spices. The texture of the nuts was a nice accent. It seems that about 15 types of spices are used, with black pepper being strong. It's said to be a high-quality black pepper from India. The sharp spiciness that comes through the nose becomes addictive. Breaking an egg yolk and eating it with the curry makes the spiciness milder. It's a popular place, so there may be a line during lunchtime. By the way, it seems that reservations are possible at night (one-drink minimum). Thank you for the meal☆彡

This is a review of a curry restaurant that is one of the top 100 restaurants in 2022. When I arrived at the restaurant around 1 pm on Saturday, there were 6 groups of customers waiting outside. I ordered the most popular Cheese Keema Curry in regular size for 1,280 yen. You can add 100 yen for a medium size or 200 yen for a large size. If you order curry, you can get a drink at half price. Alcohol is not included. Lunch requires payment in advance. It took about 1 hour for the curry to be served after entering the restaurant. The Cheese Keema Curry is coated with mozzarella cheese and topped with an egg. The cheese has a rich flavor and stretches a lot. The Keema Curry is spicy and the egg adds creaminess and flavor. Since the cheese flavor was strong, I would like to try a different menu next time.

Blog: MOKUBAZA (Kitasando) Theme: Avocado Cheese Keema Curry Located in a quiet residential area, this bar was established in 2004. The concept of the restaurant is to serve "curry that won't make your stomach heavy even if eaten at night." The staff, who have a background in food company research labs, conducted research to create the popular "Keema Curry" that is perfect for social media. The interior of the restaurant has a calm atmosphere, filled with carefully selected antiques, resembling a cozy antique shop. There are about 5 counter seats and 15 table seats. The menu focuses on various types of Keema Curry, such as the "Cheese Keema Curry" coated with mozzarella cheese, the "Baked Keema Curry" baked in a high-temperature oven, and the "Coriander Keema Curry" topped with plenty of cilantro. Customers can choose from three sizes: "S," "M," and "L." A standout dish is the visually stunning "Avocado Cheese Keema Curry." This dish features a white curry with a mozzarella cheese-coated top adorned with a egg yolk. The dish is layered with rice, keema, avocado slices arranged in a propeller shape, coated with mozzarella cheese, and topped with an egg yolk. The appearance is reminiscent of white chocolate coated with an egg yolk on top, giving it a unique and eye-catching presentation. When you break the mozzarella cheese with a spoon, it stretches surprisingly long! The pride of the restaurant is the authentic spice-infused Keema Curry made with a blend of domestically sourced ground beef and pork, without adding oil, wheat flour, chemical seasonings, or artificial additives. The curry offers a rich meaty flavor enhanced by fragrant spices, with a gradual spiciness that emerges. The generous amount of sautéed onions adds depth to the flavor. The combination of spicy keema, creamy avocado, and rich cheese, with the egg yolk balancing the heat and adding a multi-layered taste experience. While the appearance is innovative, the taste is that of authentic spice-infused Keema Curry.

When I was a college student, I was taken to this place by my housemates. Now that I've become a working adult, I came back to try it out. The cheese is delicious. Also, the atmosphere is really nice. It's moderately spicy. Just a note, so that people reading this review don't get the wrong idea, I try to be honest about what I think. I will provide additional information about Instagrammable spots or the ambiance of the restaurant, but the rating is mainly based on whether the food is delicious or not, and if it's worth the price.

During the day, there is usually a long line, but this time I visited at night and was able to enter without any wait. At night, it's a one-drink order system, and it seems that in addition, the curry menu is a bit more expensive than during the day (around 200 yen more?). The Cheese Keema Curry M for 1380 yen is covered with a lot of cheese, which definitely contributes to the visual appeal, but it's actually quite difficult to eat. I imagined it would be creamy based on the appearance, but when trying to cut it with a spoon, it feels (to put it bluntly) like cutting through a soft rubber sheet, making it quite challenging. It seems like they heat up solid cheese in the microwave to make it soft, and the cheese itself is mozzarella-like, which might be the reason. The Keema Curry itself is very delicious, but the cheese flavor is too overpowering, making it hard to discern the subtle spice aromas. While the cheese looks amazing, personally I think next time I'll skip it. This time, including drinks, the curry supper cost over 2000 yen, so I think it's better to visit during the day if possible.

I didn't have to wait in line, so I decided to have lunch here. The system where you order and pay at the counter first is convenient because you can eat and leave quickly. I ordered the second most popular dish, the large serving of baked egg keema curry. Since there was a lunch special for half-priced drinks, I also ordered a lassi. The lassi was larger than expected, with a good balance of sweetness and yogurt acidity, and a thick texture. The baked egg keema curry had a nice aroma of curry and bubbling cheese when it was served. The curry was spicy and flavorful, with the sweetness of onions and the richness of minced meat. The baked cheese added a nice touch with its crispy and stretchy texture. You can add Tabasco sauce for extra heat, but it might make you sweat. Breaking the soft-boiled egg on top made it milder and easier to eat. I wonder how they manage to keep the yolk runny. The only downside was that the cheese and rice stuck to the plate, making it hard to eat discreetly in a crowded restaurant. The atmosphere was calm, and the service was good. The only issue was the narrow seating arrangement, which could be challenging during busy times. Overall, the food was delicious, and I would like to come back again.

It was clear that this place is popular! I visited around 13:20 on a Friday and had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated, even though only two people were ahead of me. It was a pre-payment system. I finally got to try the cheese keema curry with lassi, which I had been wanting to try for a long time. It was a very hot day, but the meal was perfect! I was lucky to get a seat at the back where I could enjoy my meal in peace. Definitely worth the wait! I want to come back again.
