It's an udon restaurant that also offers a variety of alcohol and appetizers, creating an atmosphere where people might come just to drink. I ordered the plum sauce udon. The noodles were just the right firmness and thickness, making them easy to slurp up. It was refreshing and delicious. I would recommend it at udon shops in this area.

I happened to find this udon restaurant on Instagram. I didn't know there was an udon place here. The TKG (raw egg over rice) arrived first. It was good. Not just any TKG, the eggs were of high quality. This raised my expectations for the udon. By the time I finished the TKG, the udon arrived. I wished I could have eaten the TKG and udon together. I took a sip of the broth first. It was delicious. The clear yet flavorful broth was excellent. Personally, I like fried tofu, but the fried tofu in the kitsune udon I had recently was not great, so I decided to try the kitsune udon here. It was okay, but I thought it could have been a bit sweeter or more flavorful. I plan to come back at night next time. Also, the owner and staff were chatting with smiles on their faces, creating a pleasant atmosphere. It's hard to enjoy your meal if the vibe is tense, so that was a nice touch.

I arrived at Udonya Gibitsumi in Nishi-Shinjuku around 11:30. The entrance was wide open and inside, there was music and photos of RC Succession. I sat at a two-person table and ordered the Chikudama Tempura Udon, which comes with chikuwa tempura, half-boiled egg tempura, and two pieces of chicken tempura. The cold noodles arrived in about 10 minutes and were deliciously chewy. The tempura was served separately on a plate, and I enjoyed sprinkling salt on the crispy chicken tempura. The egg tempura was tasty on its own, and I added the chikuwa tempura to the soup. Overall, the meal was delicious until the last bite.

[Recommended for People] Looking for an udon restaurant around Shinjuku Station
[Overview] Located in a back alley in Nishi-Shinjuku, "Udon-ya Gibitsumi" exudes a hideaway-like atmosphere from the exterior. The noodles, which are said to be carefully crafted, have a chewy texture, and the soup is rich in seafood broth, truly delicious. It is definitely one of the top udon restaurants in the Shinjuku area! Highly recommended for scenes where you enjoy udon while casually drinking!

- Oyakodon Udon 950 yen: I chose the "cold" option from the four choices of "hot, cold, zaru, bukkake". The ingredients were simple, with chewy udon noodles, two pieces of chicken tempura, and one half-cooked egg tempura. The refreshing bonito-based soup is a professional taste that has been refined. Thank you for the meal!

This is a udon restaurant in Nishi-Shinjuku! It's not very popular on social media, but it's the fourth time I've visited and this time I ordered the cold olive and mentaiko udon, as well as the parent and child tempura udon. For those who are visiting for the first time, I highly recommend trying the cold olive and mentaiko udon. It's a creative udon with basil sauce and mentaiko on top. The slightly thin, firm noodles have a great texture and are very addictive. The tempura and appetizers at this restaurant are also excellent. Drinking here and finishing with udon is also a great idea. I enjoyed my meal once again this time! Thank you for the meal!

I have been to a Western-style restaurant in Ikebukuro that was filled with Southern All Stars. It was a bit awkward because of that, but the udon was delicious. The atmosphere had RC Succession songs playing and Kiyoshiro Imawano's presence everywhere. The name of the restaurant was also a mystery to solve. The udon I had was a cold noodle dish, thinner than Sanuki udon but chewier than Mizusawa udon. It also had flat, ribbon-like noodles that added an interesting texture. The broth was rich and flavorful. The tempura was freshly fried with a light, crispy batter. Overall, it was a tasty and easy-to-eat udon dish.

Parent and child Bukkake Udon (noodles with chicken and egg) extra large size for ¥1,000
This restaurant is known for their udon noodles in the area. I was surprised by the udon that was served to me. The noodles were colored pink, probably to represent cherry blossoms. They were quite thin, about the thickness of udon noodles and somen noodles. They had a good chewy texture and a pleasant mouthfeel. The Bukkake sauce was on the lighter side. It had a subtle dashi flavor, but the taste was quite mild. I think it's gentle on the body because it's not too salty, but it was slightly lacking in satisfaction. The tempura consisted of chicken and egg. The chicken tempura was small in size, while the egg tempura had a perfect gooey yolk and was delicious. I'm interested in trying other items on the menu, so I will definitely be back. Thank you for the meal.

- Meat juice dipping cold noodles: 850 yen
- Tempura shrimp (2 pieces): 300 yen
- Soft boiled egg tempura: 150 yen
* Tax included.
On a holiday afternoon, I found myself in Shinjuku feeling quite hungover from a night of heavy drinking. I was craving udon, so I decided to stop by Gibitsumi. They had a limited-time menu featuring udon noodles with sakura (cherry blossom) infused into them, giving them a pink color that was quite beautiful.
I ordered the meat juice dipping cold noodles, which were unlike the typical udon noodles you might expect. They were chewy and had a unique texture that was really enjoyable. The dipping sauce was rich and flavorful, with ingredients like dashi, soy sauce, fried tofu, green onions, and pork belly. It was perfect for the cold and rainy day, warming me up inside.
The soft boiled egg tempura was a highlight, with its runny yolk adding a delicious touch to the dipping experience. The tempura shrimp was also delicious, with a slightly different coating that set it apart from traditional tempura.
Overall, it was my first time trying udon like this, and I highly recommend checking out this place for a unique and tasty udon experience.

Before the big earthquake, I used to go eat sakura tsukemen, which is ramen noodles with sakura (cherry blossom) flavoring mixed in, during this time of year. The sakura tsukemen at Inagi Nagasuna's "Ramen Sanpo," which closed in April 2015, was excellent. Even though I don't usually eat ramen, I would go there as it was considered one of the top five ramen shops in the country. This time, I visited "Udon-ya Gibitsumi," which was recommended by the udon expert in a Facebook gourmet group. I had actually bookmarked it last summer when he recommended it, but when I tried to visit, they were unexpectedly closed, so I left it at that. I heard that during this season, they serve a limited-time menu of udon noodles with sakura flavoring incorporated into all the noodles, so I decided to visit tonight considering my meal size at the meetup. After much deliberation, I chose the Nikujiru Tsukemen (dipping noodles with meat sauce) served warm, and added seasonal butterbur sprout tempura. The udon was delicious, with both thin and wide noodles that had a nice chewy texture. Although the udon was tasty, I was also drawn to the other menu items and the good service from the owner(?), so I will definitely visit again. It's a bit far from Shinjuku Station, but it's only a 3-minute walk further down the same street as "Taiwan Saki Men Sen Taiwan Shokudo 888," which has become another favorite spot of mine, so the location was convenient.

I found a hidden gem udon restaurant in Shinjuku! The peak hours were not too crowded, and the udon was chewy and delicious. The olive mentaiko udon I ordered was a new sensation with a tempting olive aroma. Mixing it with soy sauce was a winning combination. The classic meat dipping udon was also a must-try with plenty of meat and delicious broth. The tempura was crispy and fresh vegetables with a runny half-boiled egg. This udon restaurant has great potential and room for growth. Highly recommended!

I entered the restaurant around 1pm on a regular day. There were about 6 seats at the counter, and table seats with 2 seats at 3 tables and 4 seats at 1 table. It was a very cold day when I went, so I sat at the counter. The table seats in front seemed a bit cold. I had heard that the tempura was delicious, but since my stomach wasn't feeling well, I opted for the clam udon. Each clam was large and had a satisfying texture. The waitress was very friendly. I would like to try the tempura next time I go.

There is a ramen shop in Nishi-Shinjuku that I wanted to try, but it seems like it's not open today. I should have checked on social media before coming. As I wander around, I see many different types of restaurants like ethnic, Japanese, and new establishments, but nothing really catches my eye. Maybe I should head back towards the east exit... Oh, I see the sign for "Gibitsumi" when I look up. I remember saving this place, it's a udon shop, right? Upon entering, it feels more like a cafe bar than a traditional udon shop. The background music playing is by Kiyoshiro Imawano, and the atmosphere is filled with RC Succession memorabilia. The menu offers both cold and hot udon dishes, and I decide to try the "Asari Udon" with plenty of clams. The udon noodles are slightly translucent and have a nice chewy texture. The clear broth is flavorful but not overpowering, and the clams are plump and tasty. The whole experience is delightful, and I can see why people enjoy coming here. It may not be a popular spot, but the food and ambiance are charming and comforting. Another satisfying meal!

Cold olive and mentaiko udon for 950 yen, with a side of chikuwa tempura for 150 yen. The udon is served in a large portion for an additional 100 yen. The cold olive and mentaiko udon is topped with oyster soy sauce, making it a delicious and satisfying dish. The noodles are just the right thickness and overall, it's a very enjoyable udon.

When I felt like I might become a lunch refugee, I entered this restaurant. Inside, there are many photos and goods of Kiyoshiro Imawano, and his music is playing. Fans would love the illustrations and records. The udon noodles are thin but have a good chewiness. The broth is lightly flavored, very elegant. I prefer a bit more chewiness. The broth was also too cold and really light in flavor. The tempura was greasy. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and provided good service.

Inside the restaurant, a mix of traditional Japanese atmosphere with rock elements can be felt. As I entered, Kiyoshiro's songs were playing. I ordered the Cold Dipping Udon with Spicy Meat Soup for 900 yen, and a Half-Boiled Egg Tempura for 150 yen. The noodles were on the softer side, with a chewy texture similar to Kyushu udon rather than the firmness of Sanuki udon, making it delicious. The slightly spicy dipping sauce made me break into a light sweat, it was just right. Next, I feel like trying the Kitsune Udon.

Kibitsumi in Nishi-Shinjuku. It was their first anniversary, and I visited for the first time. I was seated at the counter and looked at the menu. There were many attractive options, so I had a hard time deciding. In the end, I chose the cold vegetable tempura udon. The hospitality of the staff was fantastic. I asked for a large portion of udon (laughs). It was a bit small for me. Strangely, the tempura arrived first, and the udon didn't come. When I asked about it, they seemed to have forgotten and apologized before bringing it out. The staff's hospitality made it all okay. There were many unique udon dishes on the menu that made me want to try more. Thank you for having me.

I had some errands in Shinjuku, so I decided to have lunch at a restaurant that had caught my eye. Gibitsumi, an udon restaurant located near Shinjuku West Exit. The restaurant opened in June last year. It's a small place with about 5 seats at the counter and tables. I arrived around 1:45 pm on a weekday. There were 2 customers already there, but they left soon after finishing their meal, so the turnover is good. Two more customers arrived later, but the restaurant was always occupied by about 2-3 people.
When visiting a new restaurant for the first time, I usually go for the classic menu items... but I hesitated a bit and ended up ordering the Cold Olive Mentaiko Udon (¥950 tax included) with a half portion of Chicken Tempura (¥200). It wasn't a typical choice, but when the dishes arrived, I realized that it was a popular one, so it turned out to be the right decision.
The udon noodles were between thick and thin, with olive sauce and mentaiko on top. I was instructed to add a sprinkle of "oyster soy sauce" and mix it well. I took a bite and thought, "Hmm! The texture is chewy and unique!! This udon is different from what I've had before. It's smooth and easy to eat, yet the sauce sticks well. The sauce has a Genovese-like flavor with shiso leaves added. I've bought shiso Genovese before, so I love this kind of taste. The combination with mentaiko is great, and it gives a pasta-like sensation despite being udon.
The chicken tempura was crispy and tasty, just the way I like it. I'm glad I added the topping.
When I was told the total was ¥950, I mentioned that I had ordered the chicken tempura, and the staff thanked me for informing them, saying, "Thank you for your honesty! Good things will come your way."
The restaurant had a unique atmosphere, with what seemed like carefully selected background music. It didn't feel like a typical udon restaurant. I imagine it would be fun to visit at night as well.

Located a little off the beaten path on Kotakibashi Street in Shinjuku, there is a udon restaurant called "Gibitsumi." The interior has a lively atmosphere that seems to attract bands. The service is very polite, with the owner rumored to be an actor. I tried the vegetable tempura udon, which was healthy and delicious, with slurp-worthy noodles and tasty broth. The egg omelette and corn tempura were also delicious. While it seems like more of a place for drinking, it's still comfortable to just come for the udon. If you're looking for delicious udon in this area of Shinjuku, definitely give it a try.

Tuesday / 12:50 / Solo payment: PayPay, etc. About a 10-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station West Exit. It's a udon restaurant located in an office district. I wanted something refreshing to eat because it was hot, so I visited this place which had high ratings on Google Maps. There was one customer before me and about 3 groups after me. I ordered the following: Chilled Sesame Tantan Udon 900 yen. The sesame dipping sauce was poured over the noodles. The sesame dipping sauce was not too spicy or too sweet, it had a nice, mellow flavor. The noodles were not like Sanuki udon or Inaniwa udon, they were a unique type with a smooth and refreshing texture. And the noodles were long! They were about 30 cm each. It was a bit long to slurp up. Next time, I want to try the Chilled Olive Mentaiko Udon. Thank you for the meal. Visit rating: ★3.30 / 26 reviews

This is a very difficult place to get into. I was in the mood for udon, so I managed to enter the shop somehow. There were 3 or 4 regular customers at the counter, a group of two women at a table, and a single man. I sat at a table right by the entrance. First of all, there was a smoking area right in front of the entrance, so smoke was coming in through the gap in the glass door. I felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave, but I had already placed my order, so I moved to a seat further back. There was a customer who was speaking loudly and using offensive language, making the atmosphere unpleasant. The BGM in the shop seemed to be to the liking of the staff and regular customers. As for the udon, the cold one was okay. The curry udon seemed to have a carefully prepared soup, but the udon noodles were too soft and kept breaking, making it difficult to eat with chopsticks. I went to the restroom before the curry udon was served, and when I came back, it was already placed on the table, which was surprising. Normally, they would bring it when you return to your seat, or at least inform you when it's ready before you leave the table. The service was not good either, as mentioned in other reviews. Overall, the uncomfortable atmosphere and the customer base made me want to leave as soon as possible. It may be fine for regulars, but for first-time visitors, it didn't feel like a welcoming place. I won't be going back there again.
