Visited The Gate Hotel Asakusa Kaminarimon by HULIC on Thunder Gate Street at 11:55 on July 27, 2023 (Wednesday). This restaurant opened in August 2012, almost 11 years ago. It has two sister restaurants, R restaurant & bar opened in August 2012, Anchor Tokyo opened in December 2018, and Anchor Ryogoku Riverside opened in November 2020. As of May 2023, there are a total of 20 restaurants remaining. The interior of the restaurant has a calm atmosphere with a dark brown color scheme. There are 44 table seats in the front, 16 terrace seats on the left, and 16 counter seats on the right, totaling 88 seats which is quite spacious. During my visit, about 20% of the seats were occupied. Even after that, the restaurant remained relatively empty with around 20% of the seats filled. The customers were evenly split between 50% male and 50% female. The service provided by the two female staff members was polite and welcoming. The menu includes a lunch set priced at 2200 yen (tax included) which includes bread, salad, main dish, and coffee. Optional items like soup and dessert are available for 650 yen (tax included), and a set with two main dishes, soup, and dessert is available for 2000 yen (tax included). For the main dish, you can choose between grilled Kirishima pure pork loin with peach sauce and mashed pumpkin, or sautéed swordfish with myoga vinaigrette sauce. I ordered the lunch set priced at 2200 yen. The set included a salad with small shrimp, specialty eggs, and sweet corn with a Japanese-style tomato dressing, grilled Kirishima pure pork loin with peach sauce, mashed pumpkin, and seasonal vegetables, bread with olive oil, and iced coffee. The salad was served in a square white dish with lettuce, red cabbage, onion, small shrimp, and a tartar-like egg in the center, topped with Japanese-style tomato dressing. It was delicious. The bread was two slices of baguette served with olive oil, and I had a total of 4 pieces. The main dish was presented on a square white plate with mashed pumpkin, baby corn, okra on the side, and grilled Kirishima pure pork loin with peach sauce as the main attraction. It was also delicious. The cafe served was iced coffee. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere with a dark brown color scheme. The table and terrace seats offer a good view, where you can enjoy the sight of the Skytree. From the lobby, you can also enjoy a view of Senso-ji Temple and its five-story pagoda. Various cashless payment options were available at the checkout. The lunch set priced at 2200 yen includes a salad, bread, main dish, and coffee. The food was delicious.
