Takanozuka Wakaba Sushi is a sushi restaurant with a wide variety of fresh ingredients and meticulous preparation. The cost performance is excellent, with prices ranging from around 6000 to 8000 yen per person depending on how much you drink and the type of ingredients you choose. The tuna and sea urchin are delicious and you can taste the authenticity. The sushi is perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of rice and air between the grains. The owner and his wife run the restaurant and they are very friendly, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. However, please note that smoking is allowed in the restaurant, so it may be smoky at times due to smoking customers.

[2013/04 Revisited] I have added images. I decided to visit my local sushi restaurant after a long time to have some sushi. The quality is decent and the prices are cheap, which is perfect for me. [Dishes I had] - White fish appetizer "Striped jack, Golden eye snapper": I had the white fish omakase as usual. It's a bit early for striped jack season, but since there is farmed fish available now... the well-fattened striped jack has a great texture and taste! The golden eye snapper was also fatty and delicious. - Octopus appetizer: The flesh is sweet and tender, while the suckers are firm. As a fan of squid and octopus, I get excited when there is fresh octopus available. - Squid tentacles appetizer: This time I had it with the suckers attached. The boiling was just right, and you can taste the deliciousness of the squid. - Small skin appetizer: Perfectly cooked! Thick and delicious. It went well with the sake. - Grilled striped jack collar (complimentary from the chef): The fatty striped jack collar with the perfect amount of salt was amazing. It can be enjoyed as sashimi or grilled, and it was excellent. - Red meat nigiri - Squid nigiri - Cucumber roll (extra wasabi) - Draft beer (glass) x1, Lemon sour x2, Sake (room temperature) 1 go x2 I had a lot to eat and drink today. I will definitely visit again. The delicious sushi and sake were a treat. (Adjusted the standard score to 2.5 stars) ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ [2012/11・12・13/01 Revisited] I have added images. I rarely eat sushi when I go to a sushi restaurant in search of seasonal fish. I had a cup of white fish sashimi and extra cucumber rolls with lots of wasabi as usual. [Dishes I had] "Appetizers" - Omakase white fish 3 types: Kawahagi (liver ponzu), Kanpachi, Hirame - Grilled shrimp with salt - Ankimo (monkfish liver) - White fish - Tamago (egg) - Grilled scallop - Yellowtail collar - Sardine "Nigiri and rolls" - Shrimp - Conger eel - Octopus - Cucumber roll (extra wasabi) The chef serves 3-4 types of good appetizers of the day at the perfect timing. The lemon sour made by the owner is also delicious! It's not a high-end place, but it's casual enough for me to go and enjoy a sophisticated drink at the counter. The delicious food and sake were a treat. ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ [2012/06 Revisited] I have added photos. *This review is based on my visit in June 2012. There may be changes in the menu in the future, so it's better to check before visiting. It's so hot... I want to enjoy some refreshing fish. [Dishes I had] - Striped jack (sashimi): The elegant fish fat is good, with a firm texture indicating freshness. I have once again realized how delicious horse mackerel is. - Hirame (sashimi): Thickly sliced hirame with a firm texture! The white angel (to me) that asserts "I am hirame" in the refreshing umami! Delicious with cold sake... - Scallop (sashimi): Sweet and plump scallop. Whether it's wild or farmed, the richness was strong. Yes, it's rich. The thick flesh... maybe farmed? - Grilled conger eel: Eel... it's expensive, but I am an eel lover! I love both with bones and grilled white. The moderate fat is truly delicious. It's refreshing and good with sudachi! - Small skin: I love small skin, perfectly cooked and the umami is concentrated. Squeezing lemon makes it even more refreshing. - Egg (appetizer): The sushi restaurant's "tamago" is delicious. Many places offer ready-made tamago these days, but handmade is better! - Mirugai (nigiri): I find the firm part appealing. A luxurious delicacy where the shari crumbles softly in the mouth and the flavor of the clam spreads... But the turban shell is the best. - Grilled conger eel (nigiri): This time it's all about conger eel. Wasabi adds a kick.

This is my second time eating here. The sushi is not particularly delicious, but it's just average sushi at an average price. Compared to conveyor belt sushi, it is much tastier. There is only one sushi chef, so the shape and amount of rice are consistent. Since customers come in sporadically, it might be nice to come here alone. It's away from the busy area near Takenotsuka Station, so there are fewer strange customers and you can enjoy your meal in peace.
