Saturday, July 2021. 11:50. My husband and I visited Ichiran in Asakusa, wanting to use the voucher we got from the Ichiran app. Ichiran is famous for its flavor concentration counter. Since this branch in Asakusa has table seats, we thought it would be easier to share toppings here, so we chose this location. Ichiran has been increasing its prices rapidly and has now become a high-end ramen place. Because of this, even though we love the taste, our visits have decreased significantly. My husband, who is from Fukuoka, also compared the old and current prices and lamented that it's no longer easy to visit. (It seems that the prices have become the same in both the Tokyo and Fukuoka areas.) Let's enjoy our visit after a long time!
We chose a table seat. (About 40% of the table seat area was occupied.) On the table, there were alcohol, wet towels, chopsticks, order sheets, and pens, and tissue boxes were hanging on the wall. Wireless chimes were also available, but the staff were constantly attentive. (The water glasses were large, with plenty of ice, so refreshing! The water quality was good, so delicious!) The staff consisted of 80% foreigners and 20% Japanese, but all of them provided kind and polite service, which was surprising! (Especially the politeness of the foreign staff was amazing!)
[Food Review]
- Ramen 980 yen (tax included)
The default toppings are green onions, chashu, garlic, and secret sauce only. I love the flavor of Ichiran, but for me, it's too rich, so I ordered the taste intensity - light, richness - light, garlic - 1 clove, green onions - both white and green, chashu - yes, red secret sauce - basic, noodle firmness - firm. My husband prefers rich and intense flavors, so he ordered the taste intensity - rich, richness - rich, garlic - 1 clove, green onions - both white and green, chashu - yes, red secret sauce - basic, noodle firmness - basic. I tried "light" taste for the first time, but it was a bit too light for me. I think my preferred taste intensity is somewhere between "light" and "basic." It seems that it's also possible to get a free "soup refill," so I might consult with the staff next time. The richness - light was the right choice! The thin, firm noodles with a sharp bite were delicious as always! The chashu was thin and tough, not really to my liking, but it might go well with this type of rich ramen? We used the Ichiran app voucher to get green onions, wood ear mushrooms, soft-boiled salted egg, seaweed (2 sheets per plate), and extra noodles! The wood ear mushrooms paired perfectly with the ramen! The seaweed was also great! My husband said the soft-boiled salted egg is meant to "reset your mouth," so you eat it with salt without putting it in the ramen. However, I soaked it in the ramen and ate it. The perfect soft-boiled egg was delicious, mixing with the ramen broth. If you have trouble peeling the provided soft-boiled egg, they will replace it with a new one! We ordered extra noodles with "more soup." We usually order it with "less soup," but this time, with the base ramen being light in taste, the extra noodles with more soup was perfect! I ended up eating most of the extra noodles without putting them in the soup. Delicious!
The taste was still delicious as ever, and the service was excellent. It was a satisfying experience. Thank you!
