Introduced by an acquaintance, I enjoyed Miyazaki cuisine at the Ebisu referral-only restaurant, Tenyanwan. I had the following dishes: - Horse sashimi platter - Miyazaki chicken thigh grill - Chicken nanban - Satohara eggplant (grilled) - Edamame - Pickles assortment Honestly, I had never thought much of charcoal-grilled chicken dishes with charcoal bits on them before, as they always seemed messy and not very tasty at other restaurants. But my perception changed at Tenyanwan. It was incredibly delicious. I wanted to try more dishes, but each dish was so substantial that I could only try six this time. I paired these dishes with sweet potato shochu, and my favorite was "Honkaku Kirishima" brought from Miyazaki to Tokyo with an alcohol content of 20 degrees. It was superbly delicious. I also tried around five other types of shochu, but "Honkaku Kirishima" was my clear favorite. Next time, I want to try the chicken sashimi and Miyazaki-sourced sashimi.

It was a restaurant where you could thoroughly enjoy Miyazaki cuisine. I visited seeking an izakaya for the first time, and it wasn't very crowded on a weekday night. The interior had a small feel with private rooms and table seats. The staff, who were from Miyazaki, provided various recommendations. We ordered dishes such as chicken sashimi, pork shabu salad, and chicken nanban. They seemed to be tailored to a taste that is a bit more geared towards Tokyo than Miyazaki, but everything was delicious. There weren't many types of shochu, but the selection was well-curated, making it easy to order without hesitation. I want to go back with a bigger appetite next time!

I visited this place after a long time, and it was still delicious. Looking at the menu and the lineup of shochu, it feels like stepping into an izakaya in Miyazaki. The platter of horse sashimi with about 4 cuts gets me excited, but surprisingly, I also like the chicken nanban. When I traveled to Miyazaki, I learned that there are various types of chicken nanban, but setting aside those distinctions, it's simply delicious. We ended up focusing more on drinks, so we didn't eat much, but I still want to have a lively party here someday. It would be super fun if they offered all-you-can-drink Miyazaki shochu.

When it comes to Miyazaki cuisine, the impression is often of dishes like Chicken Nanban, Charcoal-grilled Miyazaki beef, and Lettuce wraps. However, this restaurant also offers fresh fish dishes directly from Miyazaki. The head chef honed his skills for 10 years at the famous Nadaman restaurant, and his intricate knife work was truly impressive. I particularly enjoyed the sashimi of squid.

I had the salmon steak. The interior of the restaurant was very clean and stylish, as it seemed to be a new store. Although the space inside looked narrow, it was actually quite spacious. There were counter seats and table seats, and I sat at the counter. The salmon steak (850 yen) had a flavorful marinade on it, and was topped with a butter soy sauce. The salmon was delicious with a nice amount of fat, just as you would expect from a salmon steak. It paired perfectly with the butter soy sauce! It was really delicious. All lunch menu items come with rice, miso soup, and pickles, and you can get a refill of rice.

You can enjoy Miyazaki's specialty dishes such as chicken tataki and chicken nanban. The charcoal-grilled Miyazaki chicken, in particular, is flavorful and fragrant, with a good chewy texture. In addition to Miyazaki cuisine, there is a wide variety of classic menu items available, such as beautifully crafted rolled omelettes. The restaurant also offers a wide selection of shochu, with a special focus on the various types of Kirishima shochu, making it a great place for shochu enthusiasts.

Despite being turned away from the desired restaurants due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I happened to enter a great place. They served Miyazaki's chewy black chicken thigh, horse sashimi, sand lance fish, and almost all the brands from Kirishima Distillery. It was a great place where you could enjoy a variety of hard-to-find shochu as well.

The overall taste of the dishes is good, but the chicken sashimi was delicious.

A chef from Miyazaki creates authentic Miyazaki dishes that are delicious. The cost performance is good, and the staff are energetic, so we had a great time! It's perfect for when you want to have a fun time drinking rather than having a quiet date.

I forgot to take a photo. Miyazaki cuisine is famous so I ordered dishes with chicken as the main ingredient! I recommend the Chicken Nanban!
