It's nice to know of many user-friendly and delicious restaurants. This new store that opened in April seems to be quite popular already, with many customers talking about it. They have private rooms, a counter, and tables, so you can choose how to enjoy depending on who you come with. The restaurant specializes in meat, side dishes for alcohol, and highballs. Their dishes, such as charcoal-grilled black wagyu beef and dishes with plenty of salmon roe, are visually appealing and full of happiness. The umami of the red meat and fat of the Japanese beef permeates. The snack menu changes regularly, so they make an effort to keep it interesting. The hot crab cream croquette is also delicious! The drink selection includes Suntory's new beer brands "PSB" and "Master's Dream," which beer lovers will enjoy. You can also compare highballs made with Japanese whiskies like Yamazaki, Chita, Hibiki, and Hakushu, and they have a decent selection of sake and shochu. Just by looking around the restaurant, you can see people using it for various purposes like dates and drinking parties, so it's a cozy and modern izakaya that I recommend.

Located a short walk from Ebisu Station, this izakaya on the 2nd floor may be a bit hard to find. While some parts have private rooms, the atmosphere is not too noisy. The otoshi included daikon with shirasu, and dishes like meat rolls topped with ikura and fried chicken gizzards were delicious.

[Shop Name] Sui
[Nearest Station] Ebisu Station, 4-minute walk
[Dinner Budget] 4000 yen - 6000 yen
Visited in June 2023
[About the Shop]
We visited as a group after an event near Ebisu Station. The shop is located in a building about a 4-minute walk from Ebisu Station, tucked away on the second floor, so it may not stand out and has a hidden gem atmosphere. The interior of the shop is bright and modern with a Japanese-style izakaya feel. There are several table seats in the center of the shop, as well as some counter seats. There also seems to be private room spaces, and we were guided to a private room this time.
[Food and Drinks]
On the table, there is an A4-sized paper with menu information printed on both sides. The text is quite small and a bit hard to read, giving it a "copied paper" feel. Using a menu book with some creativity might match the stylish atmosphere of the shop. When a staff member comes using a call bell, you can place your order.
We ordered dishes like seafood salad, yam tempura, crab cream croquette, fresh fish from Toyosu, grilled chicken thigh, and dashi spring cabbage. The dishes were all delicious and presented beautifully. The fresh fish from Toyosu was especially good. The avocado, negitoro, and ikura mixture was also flavorful. The appetizer was grated daikon covered with shirasu, which had a dramatic impact. It is served on one plate for the whole group to share.
The speed of food service was fine, but the drink service felt a bit slow. I had beers like Master's Dream and highball. It would be nice if they provided chopsticks for sharing without having to request it separately. Since it hasn't been open for even three months, the impression might change if you visit again later. Thank you for the meal.

Sui, a creative Japanese restaurant in Ebisu. The restaurant seems to have been renovated from a previous establishment, which was a high-end place, giving it a luxurious feel. The menu seems to be inspired by popular dishes from other restaurants, with a focus on visually appealing items for those who like to take photos. However, the quality of the food was lacking. The negitoro lacked the deliciousness of tuna, the salmon carpaccio sauce tasted like store-bought dressing, and the karaage, while crispy, was difficult to chew due to the lack of proper cutting. It felt like eating quick and easy home-cooked recipes. Additionally, the private rooms can get a bit stuffy as the air conditioning doesn't work well. Ebisu is a competitive area for restaurants, so adding more original and unique dishes could greatly improve the experience. Some adjustments are needed, especially considering the location on the second floor.

I made a reservation over the phone, but they didn't even confirm my name and just showed me to my seat. I wondered what would happen if someone else showed up... After being seated, I wasn't given a menu or asked for my order for about 4-5 minutes. The restaurant was only half full at this point, so I considered leaving due to the slow service, but it was raining outside and I didn't want to move. The food was served quite slowly, but everything was delicious. It might be a good pace for those who mainly drink and eat snacks. Before the sashimi was served, they took away the soy sauce (why?). When I asked for more soy sauce, the replacement soy sauce dispenser only had a tiny amount, so I had to tilt it multiple times to get enough for dipping the sashimi. Also, the domestic wagyu yukhoe shown in the photos on the food review site was a bit disappointing. The dishes were all really tasty though. I can't say the atmosphere was great or the service was good, but the food was delicious, so I would like to try other restaurants in the same group.

I made a reservation for Saturday night at 5:00 PM. Since it was still early, there were no other customers yet. The interior of the restaurant has a calm and lovely atmosphere with a warm feeling of wood. I immediately ordered the PSB (Perfect Suntory Beer) on tap without hesitation! It was crisp and delicious! The menu offers a variety of seafood and meat dishes. Among them, my favorite was the fatty tuna. I'm not quite sure about the definition of a neo-izakaya, but the presentation of the dishes was very beautiful, so I couldn't help but take lots of pictures. The portion size of the dishes was generous, so it was great value for money! I was also excited to see a wide variety of whiskies, including Yamazaki, Hibiki, and Hakushu. I enjoyed drinking and eating and left very satisfied! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

From now on, it's like a menu you've seen somewhere before, mainly in Gotanda area. The eggs are not quite runny, and it takes an hour for the sashimi to be served. It feels like a new restaurant that is still growing. A table bell is a must. I hope they work on their cost performance. It's understandable that it's expensive because it's a high-class place, but paying 1100 yen for a drink that is almost colorless and mostly carbonated, or over 3500 yen for 3 servings of sashimi that is only 5-6 slices per person, can be disappointing. Maybe because they use good ingredients, but as a new restaurant, I had a faint hope that they would serve dishes as generously as shown in their web photos. Looking forward to seeing how they improve in the future.

The large sign is not easily visible from the street with no signboards. This hidden gem izakaya is located on the 2nd floor of a mysterious building in an obscure location. It seems that you can enjoy some of the popular menu items from the well-known Shibuya restaurant "Otonage" here. The overall taste was delicious, and it was nice that it wasn't too noisy. The distance they keep is just right, not in a bad way, but in a way that allows you to enjoy your meal quietly with your companion. A place where you can enjoy a meal quietly with a small company. It has a good hidden gem vibe, so it might be nice to know about this kind of restaurant in Ebisu.

I went to a stylish restaurant located about a 3-4 minute walk from Ebisu Station. The simple exterior made it hard to notice, but I entered thinking this must be the place. The interior was very clean with a luxurious counter. We were served boiled whitebait with daikon as a complimentary appetizer. The menu was simple, so we started with homemade potato salad and crab cream croquettes. The crab cream croquettes were generously topped with salmon roe, and I wondered if they were homemade. Both the potato salad and croquettes were delicious and well-prepared dishes. For the main course, we ordered charcoal-grilled beef tongue and Platinum Sui Yukhoe, both topped with salmon roe. It was a bit pricey, but the taste was worth it. Both dishes were exquisite and seemed to be the signature dishes. Overall, it was a simple yet delicious restaurant that I would like to visit again. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The first visit left a good impression with its mature and calm atmosphere, but the second visit was disappointing as it felt a bit cheap. The restaurant is located in a cozy spot with wooden interior, giving off a certain level of luxury, but the quality of the food (e.g. sashimi) and the dishes did not match that. There was a slight gap between the quality shown in the website photos. The most disappointing part was the music playing in the restaurant, which was J-pop. Also, the service from the kitchen staff seemed lacking in professionalism. For a group of 4-5 people looking for a lively izakaya experience, the value for money is not bad, but overall, it seems like the restaurant is aiming for a lively izakaya atmosphere rather than a mature one. It makes me wonder if the people running the place truly understand the nuance of the name "Iki".

The staff were very kind. Excellent customer service. The beef tongue croquette was delicious. Highly recommend for those who like ikura. If they focus on SNS marketing and improve the experiential atmosphere of the interior, I feel like it could become popular.

Insta-worthy vibe. The shop is noisy and the staff are loud, so it's not recommended for those who prioritize atmosphere. The food is average.
